BootCamp on Macbook Al

Soo.. I was able to get bootcamp running just fine with a copy of windows XP. Prior to the installation of the drivers everything worked fine as in the the graphics were still choppy without the drivers but the mouse worked and so did the keyboard. After putting in the OSX drivers CD and successfully installing the drivers everything stopped working. The display settings reset and the trackpad doesn't work at all now.
Honestly I've posted this in bootcamp forum and this is the only forum that gets activity and stuff. Posting a problem in the other forums are as useful as a car without fuel. So I'm hoping you guys can help me since I know most of the experts hover around here and often offer speedy responses. Thanks again!

Well if your mouse and keyboard is not working, I think your going to have to boot from your Mac OSX partition, undo the partition with boot-camp, restart, and do the whole process over again. I have installed boot camp several times on my old macbook, and macbook pro but never on this model yet.
So yeah, Im sorry to say it, but redo the whole process. If the same results occur, contact apple. Keep up posted, these are bugs we would like to be informed about.

  • My friend was Bootcamping his Macbook Pro halfway when he cancelled it and it refused to boot afterwards.

My friend was Bootcamping his Macbook Pro halfway when he cancelled it due to it running slowly, the Bootcamp Assistant cancelled but the Macbook froze after that and he had to force quit the application. When he restarted the Macbook, it showed the typical white screen and then it switched to a black screen with a underscore at the top left corner. From my experience, it is booting into Windows when it showed the black screen with the underscore and now its kinda stuck and unable to boot into Mac Os X Lion nor Windows 7. Any help for this? And this is a school Macbook with some Master Admin password so it may not be able to enter BIOS but perhaps we can select the boot device. He is screwed if it cannot be fixed :/ Thanks to all who help!

  • Can I use a touch monitor with win 8.1 using bootcamp on MacBook Pro? Thanks.

I have a MacBook Pro  late 2013. I have installed win 8.1 using bootcamp. Can I attach a touch monitor to use with Win 8.1?

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010 none of which can run Windows 8. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Installing windows 8 through bootcamp on macbook pro mid 2010

i know there are a lot of posts about this but i've not seen anything to help me.  i have a mid 2010 macbook pro with maverick installed and completely updated.  i'm want to try bootcamp to install windows for my database class that is using microsoft office and access (i'm getting the software for free from school and it is not the mac friendly versions).  i can use virtual box but i really want to try boot camp just because i've not used it before.
i open up boot camp and follow the prompts of downloading windows support from apple and install windows 7 to my 32gb flash drive (which is fat formated).  the message i get when doing anything is that this software is not on the support software server.
i have downloaded the bootcamp 5.0 support software directly from apple's website and it is unzipped on my flash drive.  i also already have windows 8 iso ( i also have windows 7 if i can't do 8).  even though i already have the support and os iso on my flash drive bootcamp still wants to down load them.  can i bypass this step and move on?  do i need to have a partition on my hard drive already made.
basically i need some to see what else i need to do to prepare my system and/or steps i have missed to install windows 8.  thanks for any assistance you can give me.

I DOWNLOAD BOOT CAMP 5 THEN INSTALL WINDOWS 8 PRO.
AND I UNZIPPED ON MY FLESH DRIVE TO HAVE DRIVERS READY.
BUT THE WINDOWS DOESN'T EXCEPT PRODUCT KEY.

  • Update bootcamp on macbook pro 15 mid 2010

    Hy there,
my friend has a macbook pro 15inch mid 2010 with OS X 10.8.2 and
he wants to install windows 7  from an image.
    There is bootcamp 5.0.0 installed.
Isn´t it possible to create a bootable windows 7 usb stick with bootcamp?
I didn´t found an update to bootcamp 5.0.1. Isn´t there an update for this macbook?
    regards
    Michael

No, there is no update except for what is installed with an OS X update. Open Boot Camp Assistant and click on the large Print Documentation button. Read carefully.

  • Problem installing Windows 8 via Bootcamp on MacBook Pro 13 (late 2009).

    Hello,
I've installed Windows 8 Pro on my MacBook Pro 13 (Late 2009) which does not support Windows 8. I've started installing Windows 7 via Bootcamp, then interupted the installation and pluged-in the Windows 8 Disk, and after formating the partition, I've installed Windows 8 64-Bit.
Here is the problem. The Windows works fine, BUT after restart when I hold 'Alt' and choose EFI Boot (Windows 8's partition), Windows 8 starts loading but then suddenly there is a white flash and it restarts again. So after shut down or restart I cannot boot it.
Do you think that this is because I do not have Bootcamp installed on the Windows 8?
I've downloaded the supported software for Windows 8, but when I click setup.exe, it is giving me the following error:
This version of Bootcamp is not intended for this computer model. I've been trying to install it for more than 78 hours, so I'll be extremely gratefull to whoever help me. Thank you in advance.
P.S. Mac OS X partition boots fine.

If it is really not possible, I get it. But there are plenty of people that are running Windows 8 on the same model, that is powerfull enough to run Win 8. I'm actually running it, but until shut down or restart . Can't I edit Info.plst file alternative for Windows 8 like I did to allow BootCamp to image burn my USB on my model? I mean my model is same as the next one. I can't see why the drivers for mid 2010, won''t work on mine...

  • Windows XP in Bootcamp in MacBook

I have been trying to connect 13 MacBook to Panasonic (EDTV) which is compatible with:
VGA: 640x480 in 4:3 aspect ratio
    852x480 in 16:9 ratio
    HDMI: 1920x1080i
    720x480p and 640x480
    720(1440)x480i
When Windows XP is booted in Bootcamp, initially "Windows XP" logo of MicroSoft is on TV. However, it disappears when the screen comes up and shows "No Signal"
The resolution in Mac format is set at 640x480.
Any help would be appreciated greatly.
    Thanks.
    B.

Technically it's Lion Boot Camp Assistant doesn't support XP, it is after all 11 years old, and is a booger Microsoft is even trying to flick off with hardly much success.
    http://www.itworld.com/windows/266924/clock-ticking-xp-time-start-os-migration
The hardware in question, almost invariably will run Windows XP OK. There might even be XP video drivers for this laptop, etc. but not the easy collection of drivers for XP specifically for this Macbook. The OP would  have to track down the drivers manually. But it is possible to shrink the Mac HD volume, boot a Windows XP disk directly and have it format and install on the free space created. But it's a guess how much of a rabbit hole it is to track down XP specific drivers for this brand new hardware.
But that's the alternative to "Buy Windows 7". Of course, you can run XP in a Virtual Machine, on Lion, however.

  • Bootcamp on Macbook Air: USB not possible?

    Hi all,
I am currently trying to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Air (Late 2010, running with OS X 10.10.3). Since the macbook air doesn't have a DVD-drive, bootcamp should provide the possibility to create a bootable version of Windows on an USB-Drive, as far as I know.
My problem is, that bootcamp doesn't offer such an option on my mac. It just gives me the message that a DVD/CD-Drive is required to continue with the installation of Windows (which is not available on a Macbook Air).
I would be glad if someone could help me to solve this problem.
    Kind regards,
    Dennis

If you are not offered a choice to create USB, you will need to find an external Apple SuperDrive to install Windows.

  • Bootcamp on Macbook, W7, NO INTERNET

SPECS: Macbook 09, Lion, Airport Express, Bootcamp installed at Apple store 7-8-12.
I ONLY wanted the bootcamp to run my genealogy program (Mac built genealogy programs are inadequate for advanced researchers). The program is installed, but I can not get on the internet. Yes, drivers are installed. I use Airport Express, which was purchased about 18 months ago.
I am about to go to the dark side and purchase a HP JUST for that one program. Why? I've been to the Genius Bar numerous times--they are good folks, but so busy that they are helping several people at once. I've found that I then have repeat visits as installations and fixes are not complete....after Bootcamp was installed, and I found I could not get access, I made another appointment, went back and the first thing said was "we don't work on Windows 7". I protested that this Bootcamp is an Apple product and clearly there is a problem if it does not operate as advertised! So they managed to get it on the net through the store's connection-I think a bit of snake oil on an old lady.
I really don't know what to do next. I am not a super knowledgeable techy, but .....
I suspect some setting needs setting either on the Bootcamp side, my modem, my Airport Express or????? I do have the Mediacom guy coming to check my modem and he will no doubt tell me to call Apple.....
    Suggestions?

Mediacom  has a really nice group of people and online forum with others. No qualms. They can actually 'see' your modem romote, no need to visit. And super helpful forum, after which you will never want to call in for any kind of support I promise!

Try Speedtest and see how it compares to what you should have. There is also an Android and iPhone app for Speedtest. http://speedtest.net/
Not a fan of leaning on someone for hand-holding except when it isn't hand holding and required.
Bluetooth is a trick. There is a post today and yesterday to help others on BT issue.
    Airport might be another 'trick.'

I don't know about Airport, try here and go through support

the first thing to do probably is bypass the Airport and make a direct connection to the modem frst.  Also check Windows Network control panel. Setup and confirm a wired connection before ever trying to use Wifi.

  • Transferring from Mac mini (Bootcamp) to Macbook Pro

I purchased a Mac mini earlier this year, and while it is an amazing machine, I think a Macbook is something I will need at the moment as I am traveling a bit.  Now my issue is that I run windows via Bootcamp on my Mac mini and would still like to do so on a Macbook.  How difficult is it to transfer from one to the other?  I imagine that the Mountain Lion OS makes it easy to do so, but I want to make sure.  I also don't want to lose the $200 that I spent on the Windows 7 key.
(I would like to mention that I am not worried about losing any data on Mountain Lion OS as everything is on some sort of cloud, same is to say for the Windows side.)

See if this can help: http://twocanoes.com/winclone/
(Note: Only for NTFS, if your BooCamp partition is FAT32, this will not work)
Boot Camp to Image to Boot Camp
The most common imaging scenario is to create a Winclone image of Boot Camp as part of a backup strategy or to use as a source for Boot Camp migration.  This scenario is a two-step operation.
First, select the Boot Camp partition in the Sources column, then select Save Image in the Destination window, then click the Save Image... button.
After creating the image, it may be restored to Boot Camp, shared on the network to restore to other Mac hosts, copied as a file to another Mac to migrate Boot Camp or deployed to multiple remote Mac systems using mass deployment applications.

    What can I do ?
    Thanks

    Lilly,
since you just got your new MacBook Pro, at this point I’d recommend making an appointment at an Apple store to show them what’s happening when you run Boot Camp Assistant. Be sure to take your Windows 7 disc and your USB SuperDrive with you, so you can show them how it currently behaves. Please include in your reply whether they were able to resolve the problem, and if so, how they did it, so that future readers of this discussion can benefit from your experience.

  • Need some help using BootCamp on MacBook Pro 2011

    Hello,
I have just bought a CD which is not compatible with MacBook's, and can only use Windows operating system. I have been direceted to use the BootCamp application, when I load the app, it comes up with two options, to download something or buy Windows 7, which I dont have, therefore I chose the first option. I was told to put in a USB drive in, which I have done, and a load of files have been downloaded to my USB drive, but what do I do next?
    Thanks.

As you are using OS X Mountain Lion and looking at the MacBook Pro you are using, you can install a 64-bit Windows 7 or 8 version, but you can't use Windows XP or Windows Vista. If you haven't got Windows yet, buy Windows 7 on a DVD in Amazon or eBay, or Windows 8 from the Microsoft Store or Amazon (make sure that you buy it on a DVD).
What you have downloaded to your USB drive are the Boot Camp drivers. Those drivers are for all the hardware of your Mac, because Windows doesn't detect everything, so you need those drivers to run Windows properly and get the maximum performance of the MacBook Pro. You have to install them just after installing Windows.
