After that I follow this solution
Rebuild using start/end offsets from Testdisk DeepSearch using GPT Fdisk (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/)
Sudo gdisk /dev/rdisk0
P (print the full list of parts)
D (delete)
4 (part 4)
N (new part)
4 (part 4)
392579071- Start offset in bytes (start point for Bootcamp part)

I have problem on point 9,
output

Boot Camp Partition Missing after shrinking Mac Partition
Hello Chris I have a OSX 10.9.2 running all upgrades, Powerbook 2.3g i7 16 GB , Had a boot camp partition of 49 GB, running windows 7 all working fine.
Decided to bump the windows 7 to 100 GB. Used disk utility to decrease the mac partition to 401.6
Image of the way it is now.
The Gray part is what is from the apply done the original time.
After I hit apply. I then restarted and tried to enter boot camp by holding down the altOption key as usual but only the OSX and the Recover partition where there No Windows.
NOTE: did the Windows 7 partition increase from 29 to the 49 GB before this same way and everything worked fine for over a month till i decided to double the partition to 100GB.
In the preferences the Mac Hd only shows up, no network or windows.
Network does show up when holding down altOption Key
Saw that you might be the best help I would like to talk to you and get your Genus going

What to do Next ?Chris I just did what Loner T said
sudo fdisk -e /dev/disk0
setpid 4

flag 4
write
I then restart and now I can see the windows partition after on restart and altOption down.
But it then gives a error can't find drive or something like that. -
Boot choice disappear after resizing main partition Mac
I wanted to resize the partition mac for more space later on Windows partition. But when the operation ended and I rebooted, I had no choice boot between windows and mac.
Now it boot, without asking my opinion, directly on the Mac partition.
How to fix this problem, so I can restart my Windows partition.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice.Hi and welcome to Discussions,
use Diks Utility in OSx to check if you maybe inadvertently made a partition between your OSx partition and the Windows partition while shrinking your OSX partition.
If so, then the 'partition numbering' has been changed and the Windows partition is not found.
For XP have a look at this thread http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11783594#11783594 for a solution.
For Vista or Windows 7 EasyBCD http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 would be my tool of choice.
Hope it helps

Bootcamp partition missing after installation of OS X Mountain Lion
I am not able to locate a hard-disk partition on my Bootcamp after installing OS X Mountain Lion... It seems that the partition is there, but not showing on Drive list.. mapping problem?
Does anyone has a similar situation?
i want to recover the data anyhow...Read this thread:
Re: Repairing Boot Camp after creating new partition (Updated)
Might be some help there that applies to your case. Sounds similar. -
Bootcamp missing after resizing manually
I know i have seen many threads, discussions about this kind of problem. Sorry if this is posted in here if its the wrong place I mean.
Well I did some reading and wasnt so sure about going further than what I've seen was successful for others (scared to damage or lose any files on my bootcamp).
I did resize it once, and it was successful, but this time it just suddenly turned to a disk0s4 and has an amount of the very first partition I had for the bootcamp (before resizing it successfully)
Thing is I'm not that confident without proper help or guide in repairing and any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm online this very moment and day I just want to wrap this up as I won't be able to sleep knowing that my sister's thesis report are in that bootcamp.
Here is so far what i have done.

Can you use fdisk -e and change Partition number 4 to type x'07' and flag it as bootable?
There are quite a few examples of how to do it or if you are comfortable with using Unix man pages, then you can execute man fdisk in a Terminal window on your Mac and use setpid and flag commands. You will also have to use write and reboot, if required, after you make changes using fdisk.
You may still get Missing OS errors, but these can be fixed using Windows Recovery Console. -
Recovery partition missing after Time Machine restore of Lion
I recently purchased a new hard drive for my macbook pro and restored my system to the new disc via a Time Machine backup of the old disc. Everything worked fine and my mac is running faster than ever thanks to the new drive
I just recently realized, however, that by using this method of restoration, the Lion recovery partition that was created during my first install is gone. This is probably due to it being a hidden partition that disc utility on my install disc was unable to recreate.
I verified that the partition is missing by downloading the new recovery tool that Apple released a few days ago. It failed to work because the partiton could not be found.
My question is if anyone else has realized this issue and if there is a solution. Is it possible to recreate the partition without going through an archive-and-reinstall routine? In my opinion this is a bit of a blunder by Apple as it renders Time Machine usless.
Thoughts? Suggestions?Read the instructions for using the Recovery HD installation tool. You must make a small partition on the new hard drive of about 1 GB or so on which to install the Recovery HD.
To resize the drive do the following:
1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.
2. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed. (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work. -
Won't boot after resizing Windows partition
So I'm dual-booting Windows 7 with OSX using Boot Camp. The Windows partition had very little space left so I decided to go ahead and resize it. I first used Disk Utility inside OSX to shrink the size of the OSX partition. Worked like a beauty.
I then went into Windows and resized the Windows partition using Paragon's Partition Manager....big mistake.
I would gander a guess that in order to resize, the Paragon software has to reboot and boot into a partition it created. Which is all fine and good except I don't think (version 2010 of Partition Manager) the Mac bootup hardware likes this. Unfortunately, this seemed to have nuked my bootup of anything, including OSX.
Is there a way to recover/repair this without having to do wipe everything and reinstall?Welcome to Apple Discussions,
You can boot to the Mac OS Install disk that came with the computer and run Disk Utility from from the disk to attempt to repair the Mac OS partition of the logical drive. If it can repair it then you may be able to boot.
Live partitioning is like doing open heart surgery on yourself. Its not a simple process. Doing it with a utility that isn't necessarily made for handling an HFS+ partition table (Like what the Mac OS uses) is tricker still.
Give Disk Utility a try. There are other directory repair programs out there (Drive Genius, Disk Warrior, etc.) that can do deeper levels of repair.
Were it my drive, I would probably just erase it and restore from backup (assuming you have all your data backed up and are confident that the backup is good). You don't want to keep working with a potentially damaged partition table. But thats just me.
Hope that helps. -
How to restore Windows boot after resizing system partition ?
I have an fairly new HP Pavilion 14-n228ca notebook which I intend to use mostly for Linux, but still wish to occasionally run the WIndows 8.1 that it shipped with.
I installed CentOS 6.5 using the dual-boot procedure I have used many times in the past with XP and Vista, viz. resize the main NTFS filesystem, delete the partition and recreate it smaller at the exact same start byte.
Normally (on XP,Vista) Windows boots from GRUB, but here I get an error "file \Boot\BCD - missing or contains errors"
F9 at boot gets me a hardware boot menu, where I have a choice of "OS boot manager", EFI file, or "notebook hard drive". The last gets me GRUB. The first drops me to a repair menu where I can try autorepair, which fails, or a command
line.
The command line allows me to run diskpart and assign a drive letter to the system partition, at which point I can run chkfs successfully and access files.
If I try "bootrec /rebuildbcd" it finds one valid volume at \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HardDiskVolume4\Windows but then says "system cannot find the file specified"
How can I restore the ability to boot the Windows partition, preferably without messing up the Linux one ?I have an fairly new HP Pavilion 14-n228ca notebook which I intend to use mostly for Linux, but still wish to occasionally run the WIndows 8.1 that it shipped with.

assuming your recovery partition is still extant, you can run that and go back to factory
backup files first natually

Installing ML: locked partition missing after I erased it!
I was into a clean install idea on macpro
I made bootable 10.8 usb, then restart to cmd+r mode. I decided to erase my 1st partition before install ML. so I opened disk utility and tried to erase 1st partition. this partition was password protected, so It asked for password 1 time and then erased it, since then the partition is missing!!! I can not see it in disk utility. I restarted from bootable USB but still disk0s2 is missing and "Repair Disk Permissions" is also unavailable. also it is not available for my 2nd partition as well (After I unlock it )
before I had 2 partitions
1st is about 998 GB Called Srvr01.HD01 ( currently missing!)
2nd is about 1 GB Called Private ( Thanks God it is still there!)
before installation, in disk utility left side, if was like this:
Disk
-- Srvr01.HD01
-- Private
now in disk utility it is like this:
Private
-- Private
Srvr01.HD01
But in Partition layout I can c both "Srvr01.HD01" and "Private" and all th options are gray and unavailableIt seems I Found te solution myself!:

Quit out of Disk Utility, and launch Terminal to type the following defaults write command:
defaults write com.apple.DiskUtility DUDebugMenuEnabled 1
Relaunch Disk Utility and look for “Debug” to appear alongside ‘Help’
Click on the new Debug menu and pull down and select “Show every partition” so that a checkmark appears next to it
Now the hidden partitions will displayed alongside mounted visible partitions, but they will appear grey rather than black
Right-click on the greyed out partition to mount and choose “Mount [Drive Name]“ -
Windows partition missing after Yosemite installation
I installed Yosemite and now the Windows bootcamp partition is gone. This is a problem since I do most of my work there... For reference MacFUSE was installed on my computer prior to Yosemite installation (not sure if it matters) Anyway, after looking at various posts here, I ran the following commands and found the following (none of which solved my problems) below.

Windows installer not booting up after resizing the partition
Hello.
I am trying to reinstalling Windows 8.1. pro on my macbook with Yosemite.
When I initially installed Windows, it went fine, but Windows corrupted my booting process.
So I tried to fix it with gdisk command to create hybrid mbr, but I was not able to fix the problem.
So I deleted the Boot Camp partition using Boot Camp Assistant.
then I created a new Boot Camp partition through Boot Camp Assistant.
However, Windows installer did not boot up automatically nor manually(pressing option whilst booting) anymore.
I have booted up Windows installer using the same usb on pc, so I know that the usb containing Windows installer does work..
I am not sure how to boot the Windows installer.
Do I have to do clean install the OS X??
thank you for your help and time in advance.
RinIs it possible to create the disk using BCA and a Windows ISO on the Mac, if your Mac supports it? If your Mac has a built-in Optical drive (or used to have one), you are going to run into issues.
Can you
1. Run Disk Utility Repair.
2. SMC Reset - Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support
3. PRAM Reset - OS X Yosemite: Reset your computer’s PRAM

PDF Printer went missing after clean OSX install
Hey,
In Adobe Illustrator - I used to have a choice of printers between my Epson and printing to a PDF.
I had to reinstall Mac OSX 10.5.5 (Leopard) and now don't have the PDF printer option.
I found the FAQ regarding precious versions of OSX - but neither solution worked.
I was using the PDF printer fine before my re-install, now it's just missing.
Where can I find it?
Thanks! One last thing. After reinstalling the CS 3 suite, you need to run the
updater to fix compatibility issues with 10.5. You may need to run the
updater several times.

BOOTCAMP partition not showing up on Mac OSX after resize
Hello, I have a iMac 27" late 2013 with OSX 10.9.5 and recently I resized my bootcamp partition and reformatted the OSX partition for a clean install. After the formatting, I cannot see or access the Bootcamp partition anymore. I really don't want to have Windows anymore, but I messed up thinking I would be able to recover my files. I tried following these answers but none of them worked for me. Now I can try to boot into Windows, but it gets into a disk error.
- I tried this solution without any success: http://nerdr.com/bootcamp-partition-lost-repairing-mac-partitions/
- I tried LonerT's solution on this post but it was hard to apply to my case: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6574886

Could anyone give me some hints? I tried following other solutions but I don't really grasp how partitioning works on the OS X.
Thanks anyhowsudo fdisk /dev/disk0

Pavilion Touchsmart won't boot after resizing partition
I have a Pavilion 14-n228ca on which I will primarily run Linux. So I followed the procedure I have used in the past to create a dual-boot system on XP and Vista systems, viz.
- resize the NTFS filesystem on the primary Windows partition
- delete the partition
- recreate the partition with the exact same start byte but a smaller size matching the resized filesystem
- create a new partition in the free space
- install Linux (CentOS 6.5) in the new parition, which also installs GRUB in the MBR and creates a chain record to the original Windows partition. Normally, that lets me choose to boot either a Linux kernel or Windows.
Linux runs when I boot the disk (notebook hard drive). I can mount all the Windows NTFS partitions and see the data. But I still want to occasionally run Windows. I believe it is version 8.1.
When I try to boot the Windows partition from GRUB, I get windows boot manager: file \Boot\BCD - missing or contains errors If I try "OS Boot Manager" after pressing F9 at boot, I get a "trying to repair" splash screen which fails then drops to a repair menu.
If I select command line, I get a working prompt but the normal Windows volume is not mounted.
If I run "diskpart" I see all the disk partitions but the Windows volume has no drive letter. diskpart says the partition is valid.
If I assign a drive letter and exit diskpart, I can then see the files in F: and run chkdsk which reports that the filesystem is OK.
If I run "rstrui" it says "could not find offline boot volume"
If I run "bootrec /scanos" it finds a valid volume \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HardDiskVolume4\Windows
If I run "bootrec /rebuildbcd" it says "system cannot find the file specified"
I tried booting before actuially installing Linux, so I presume the problem is to do with the partition name or something, not the MBR.
How can I recover the BCD, or otherwise boot Windows, preferably without messing up the Linux installation ?Hello adaviel,
I have read your post on how your notebook computer will not boot after resizing the partition in Linux, and I would be happy to guide you towards a resolution!
For further information regarding the use of Linux on HP systems, please take a look at this document on Frequently Asked Questions About Linux (FAQs).
I hope this helps!

Disk repair failed after using osx with hibernated windows/bootcamp with macdrive
hi,
i just realized i did something really, really stupid.
I forgot I just closed the lid of my MBP the last time I used windows/bootcamp (instead of shutting it down) and that triggered hibernation.
The next time I powered my MBP on, OSX startet automatically and I opened some of the same files that "were already open" in the hibernated windows (on osx main/boot partition, using macdrive in windows).
That (or resuming the hibernated windows later) probably led to some data corruption that prevents the osx volume from booting and neither the automatical repairing during booting nor disk utility (external hdd or recovery partition) is able to repair it. (not sure if there is any difference).
Booting in verbose mode shows the file names that were double-opened during repair attempts.
After booting osx from an external HDD, Disk utility fails mounting the main osx volume straight away, but succeeds with mounting it after a failed repair attempt.
I only have read acces then, though.
bootcamp partition is still working fine, btw
1. I wonder if it is possible to gain write access somehow and if deleting just those "double-opened" files/the containing folder (which is saved on dropbox btw, so I really wouldnt mind deleting them/it) would solve the whole problem or if i really have to reformat everything and spend 10+ hours to revert everything to the state before the data corruption. ?
2. if I have to reformat + reinstall, using migration assistant and the corrupted volume as source isn't a great idea, i guess? are there any options to exclude some specific folders of the user folders?
3. will the bootcamp partition work after reinstalling osx or do i have to winclone-it somewhere? checkdisk says the volume is OK btw.
many thanks!Hi 3tc, thnx for a tip.
One more question - did procedure solve also "file already in use" problem on win bootcamp?
thnx
