Bootcamp update 3.2 Do I really need to install?

I have already installed windows 7 using bootcamp. Do I have to install updates to bootcamp?

Run Apple Software Update in Windows, and it will offer you 3.2. You can then click on more about this update (or similar words) and read what is being changed. You can then decide based on your hardware and usage whether you want to proceed.
Personally I always do Apples updates unless there is very good reason not to. Sometimes wait a few days to serif there are lot of reports here in AD.
3.2 has been out a good while now.

Minimally you need Snow Leopard or greater:
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

I can't watch videos on my mac so I install Adobe. I'm just wondering if I really need to install adobe or do mac do have a flash player?

If you wish to watch Flash based videos, yes you will need Flash installed on your Mac. It is ONLY available from Adobe. Any other site, or invitation from a pop-up to install/update Flash will most likely cause problems.

  • Just Bought a Presonus Firebox and want to know if I really need to install

Just Bought a Presonus Firebox and want to know if I really need to install the presonus software that came with it?
    Is it really necessary?
    thanks, technoreid

The Firebox Mixer allows you to set up different
routings for the monitors and headphones. You may
never use such features, but if you do, you'll
appreciate the flexibility. It can also be used to
provide lower latency monitoring of live signals than
you might get using softwre monitoring in Logic.
For most operation, you won't need it, and you'll
control everything from Logic and the front panel
    level controls.
In my opinion, the Firebox is the king of small
    interfaces.
Before worrying about a tube preamp, get some mics,
and learn how to use the EQ in Logic.
    +1 a solid interface
personally i use the mixer feature to switch my main outs from 1-2 to 3-4 when using traktor to let 1-2 be the headphone cue.... ect....

  • (Vista64)Do i really need to install QuickTime, Bonjour, etc...with iTunes?

So i was about to download iTunes for Vista 64bit, then i found out that other software comes with it too, such as QuickTime, Bonjour and some kid of Apple's update software, do i really need these extra apps?
I am ok with QuickTime but how about the other two, or is there more then two?
    Thanks in advance.

I have deleted bonjour, I believe you only need it if you share devices (libraries etc) but don't know for sure. I have the Update Apple, however, when it tells me there is an update, I go to the apple website, I don't download from this application.
Here is the bonjour page for more information http://www.apple.com/macosx/technology/bonjour.html

  • I really need help installing mac os 10.0

i just bought mac os 10.0 and i was trying to install it on my imac g3 running 9.1 and it goes to setup and asks to choose a destination drive. It shows my hdd and the cd-rom BUT it will not let me select either one. does anybody have any suggestions?
    Apple Imac   Mac OS 9.1.x

OK. To run OS X will require several things.
    1. You will need to install a firmware update. This must be done while booted into OS 9.1 or higher (not OS X.) You must install the firmware update before attempting to install OS X.
    2. You must partition your hard drive such that the first partition is no larger than 7.85 GBs. OS X must be installed on this partition. The other partition can be the remaining space on the hard drive. The drive must be formatted Mac OS Extended (HFS+). You can do this using Drive Setup on your OS 9.1 or higher Installer CD (you must boot from the CD.)
    3. After partitioning I suggest you first reinstall OS 9.1 or higher and be sure it's working before trying to install OS X. You should be able to install OS 9 on the larger partition.
    4. After you get OS 9 installed and working you can then boot from the OS X Installer and install it on the smaller partition.
Again, I would strongly advise against installing 10.0 as it is Beta software. I would not install any version of OS X except 10.3.x (Panther.) Panther is the last release of OS X that can be installed on your iMac.
I would add more RAM to your computer. If you have a Revision A motherboard model you can expand RAM to 384 MBs. If you have a Revision B motherboard model you can expand RAM to 512 MBs. I would highly advise adding the max you can. OS X will run relatively slowly on your hardware because it does not have either the CPU or video horsepower needed for decent performance from OS X.
Note, too, that you will have to upgrade all of your software to OS X compatible versions. OS 9 software will not run in OS X except via the Classic emulator built into OS X.

  • Do I really need to install ABAP stack for SLD

As far as I know, the SLD runs on the Java stack.  We're planning to install the standalone SLD server as the central SLD, to which later all the systems (ABAP, JAVA) will be connected.  I wonder if it's really necessary to install the ABAP+JAVA stack for it.  If I only install Java stack, will there be any concern in the future if however the ABAP stack become required?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Jerry,
SLD only need the J2EE engine. Usually you'll see SLD attached to a Solution Manager 4.0, SAP PI/XI,  BI 7.0 (BI JAVA)  or EP. These are the systems that really need a SLD to run.
Honestly I can't see any advantage in installing a standalone SLD, unless you have several SAP environments and a complex architecture.
Anyway I think you should see  these links...

  • HT1899 Do I Really Need to Install Windows Platform on a New iMac w/ Mountain Lion?

    Greetings.
Do I need to install Windows 7 (or some other version of MS Windows) in order to run Windows based software?  For example, I want to run AutoCAD 14.  Will this install and run on my new Mountain Lion iMac without having MS Windows Platform installed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    MarkCAFL

If you want to install and use Windows programs you must install Windows either natively using Boot Camp Assistant or in a virtual machine such as Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox.
Many programs have a Mac version. AutoCad 2013 is available for Windows or Mac http://usa.autodesk.com/autocad/trial/. I am not famiar with AutoCad 14 so you will need to do your own research.

  • Bootcamp update 3.1 and 3.2 will not install please help

I am running windows 7 32 bit on a silver mac book pro. it wants me to update my boot camp version from 3.0 to 3.1 but when i go to download it, it comes up with a progress box but then after a while it gives me an error basically stating that if this problem persists try just downloading it and installing it manually well i have done both ways even downloaded it form the apple website to which no avail. when i go to run the standalone updater it give me the error " the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005) click OK to close the application" i have tried running it as an administrator, and using the compatibility mode tried it with xpsp2,3 and vista sp2,3.. please help me as i am not the only one having this problem in my department

I donno if this is much help, but here goes.
This was my problem: When I upgrade boot camp from 3.1 to 3.2 using the apple update software (online, and on my windows 7 64bit) It didn't upgrade. I did the restart and everything went smoothly, but it just didn't upgrade.
Then I went on to apple boot camp software site to download the software to upgrade manually, then It says I need to locate bootcamp64.msi or something close to that.. I couldn't locate it on my hard-drive... so failure there
Turns out that file is on the MacBook Pro Mac OS X install DVD, under boot camp - apple
direct the location there and click on the bootcamp64 thing, and it should work  (If you have the same problem as me)

  • Really need help installing. something keeps on going wrong

so i'm really horrible with computers, and i jsut got a macbook laptop.
im installing mac os x and it was going fine until i ahd to put in the second disc.
right around halfway through installing the second disc my computer tells me that i have an error and that i shoudl try again.
i've tried that 5 times and its still not working.
    help?
oh and another thing, even if i take the disc out and restart my computer, the "please insert disc 2" pops up, and i can't force quit or anything.

    Hi lostwithcomps,
first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
Insert the install DVD 1 and restart while holding down the c-key. Once the installer has started, select your language and then select "Disk Utility" from the MENU. Click your hard disk in the left sidebar and erase it.
Now quit disk utility and proceed with a normal install. Under "Options" select what applications you want to install and what printer drivers, fonts etc. should be installed.
After you successfully installed and rebooted, Repair permissions! Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update (Intel) . After the restart, repair permissions again.
Finally select "Software update" from the Apple-menu and apply all remaining updates.
    Good luck!
If this answered your question please consider granting some stars: Why reward points?
P.S. You should consider installing the system only and install the applications later. You can deselect the applications in Options.

  • [SOLVED] Really need to install sudo to makepkg?

    Hi!
Been using dwm for a couple of weeks, compiling it every time I made changes with no issues.
Today, while trying to do it again, I am prompt to type a password: root pasword is not accepted, and If I type my own password, it says I am not (logically) in the suddoers file.
I would prefer to login as su instead of using sudo, but don't know how to get makepkg run.

  • Do we really need the install discs?

Hello, we have a Ibook G3, using OS X 10.4.11, that was upgraded from the original and now has more RAM and a higher speed processor. Whomever did this upgrade must have put in the user name and password and for the life of me, cannot figure out what this could be. This is at least a 3rd hand laptop. I've tried in vain to work around this, but I don't believe it can be done without the installation discs as every time you try to make any changes, it always asks for the password and we cannot put it in, and the only alternative, as far as I can tell, is to do a full reinstall. This also blocks any attempts to do any updates as well. Can anyone give me any advice on this problem?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
