Bootcamp/Windows 7 Pro question.
Using Bootcamp, I understand how to restart into Windows from the Mac side. However when in Windows 7 Pro how can I restart into Windows again? This is sometimes needed when installing Windows updates.
Thanks
PS.. I'm new to the Apple so my learning curve might be steep!

If your computer starts in Windows, don't do anything because it will start with Windows. If it starts in OS X, press Option key and press Windows

Bluetooth Mouse Model No.A1197 and BootCamp Windows XP Pro
I used BootCamp to partition my iMac 24 inch late 2009 model between Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and Windows XP Pro. The wireless mouse works fine on the Apple side but I can't get Windows to even recognize it. Any suggestions, other than buy a wired mouse?
Did you install the latest bootcamp drivers on the windows side? I have a macbook pro(12/2010) and the magic mouse works in win 7. The only thing that is not functional is swiping.

I have a windows 7 pro machine that when you first boot up works as expected. After the machine runs a day or so the CMD, paint, or basically any of the items in the accessories will no longer load. If I right click and run as Admin they will sometimes open.
I then reboot and everything works as expected for a period of time. It seems to be a rights issue but I have had no luck in finding it.
Thanks in advance for the help,

Can you upload the event viewer logs?
Can you run a system file check?
Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to skydrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.
The work around is to edit the registry. If you are not comfortable doing this DONT. If you are, backup the key before you do
Press Win+"R" and input regedit
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"
Please run a system file check (SFC)
All instructions are in our Wiki article below...
Should you have any questions please ask us.

27" iMac Bootcamp Windows 7 Pro and second 27" iMac as external screen
I have a 27" iMac with Windows 7 Pro 64bit on it and it runs great. I would like to have a second 27" screen, unfortunately Apple made a mistake with the design of the Cinema Display, it's not the same size or has the same looks as an iMac. So i would like to buy a second 27" iMac just to use it as an external monitor. I know this works on OSx, but i don't use OSx, just Windows 7 pro.
Does any of you know that this works? Have you tested it yourself? How does it work?
Any help is greatly appreciated!Did you follow these steps?
Insert a blank disc.
Start Disk Utility.
From the File menu, choose Open Disk Image and select the ISO to be burned.
In the list of volumes, you will now see an item representing the ISO file. Select it.
Click the Burn button and follow the instructions. -
MacBook Pro C2D, Bootcamp, Windows XP Pro SP2, D-Link DWA-645 Driver
I just did a test by installing the D-link DWA-645 drivers in Windows XP running under Bootcamp and connecting to the new AirPort Extreme 802.11n base station to see if I can get the higher speeds. I can confirm that the D-link driver does enable the 802.11n capabilities under this environment. It works at both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz.
Both the MacBook Pro (as well as a few other recent Macs) use the Atheros AR5008 chipset for their wireless connectivity. Until Apple updates the Bootcamp drivers or Windows this seems to be a good workaround to get the full speed out of the 802.11n chipset in Macs under Bootcamp.I have the same computer and the same issue in Bootcamp. I haven't noticed any correlation with a context menu however. Hoping for an updated driver soon to fix this...

When I try to reinstall OS X I get to the step where it asks where I want the OS to instal to. I can't get past this point because it can't find any hard drive to install to. This is why im confused. That suggests that the hard drive crashed but the target mode "WINDOWS" suggests that the OS was simply erased. -
Please can somebody help me with this.

windows cant login due to no input devices.
have connected logitech mouse keyboard still nothing.
please help!
thanks in advance1. I have tried copying the Keyboard/Trackpad/Mouse drivers to the $WinPEDriver$ directory with mixed success on a 2012 MBP.
2. My experience is based on a 2013 rMBP. You may be able to use an Apple USB Keypad/Mouse to better success.
3. See http://www.macworld.com/article/2460820/macbook-pro-mid-2014-review-minor-update -offers-slightly-better-cpu-performance.html for HW differences between the two machines.
4. If you have access to a 2013 rMBP, I can suggest trying to build the USB on that and working with the USB to see if you can make it install Windows. the rMBP 2014 and rMBP 2013 have the same HW, except some CPU changes. You can also try building the USB at the nearest Apple store, if possible.
5. There is a section in AutoUnattend.xml, which is supposed to install all drivers in $WinPEDriver$ (see this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2686316 )

Installing Windows XP Pro On MacBook Pro
Hi Folks. I am an exclusive Mac user and have been since 1992. I have had to dabble with Windows XP Pro on laptops when "forced" to by clients and I don't know much about the Windows OS and don't really care to either, and that's why I prefer the Mac OS. If it doesn't run on a Mac, I have no need to play the game or whatever, in fact many files now MS Office, Photoshop, etc are cross platforma anyway.
Well, now since my friend has dropped off his brand new MacBook Pro for me to repartition and "lean" up the system and configure the machine strictly for FinalCut Pro, I repartitioned the HD and partitioned the Mac OS to about 106GB and the Windows partition at just under 6GB. HD is a 120GB, 2 GB RAM, 2.3 GHz
Here is the issue though. After close to 40 minutes setting up Windows up with the BootCamp download and the new Windows XP disk and after entering the ser number, there is about 2.8 GB space left on the Windows partition. I did a custom install and looked for anything I could slim down like foreign languages, etc. Now, since I am not a Windows installation expert, and have no desire to be one anyway, is there any particular files, extensions, anything unnesseccary I could uninstall in Windows to just keep as minimal as possible. After I put in the Authenticity code, it installed all kinds of stuff and I don't want to go back and repartition from scratch
What is the absolute minimal amout of space needed to run a Windows XP Pro partition on the MacBook Pro
Any help, please and thanks SteveBHi guys and thanks for your help. Yes, after authenication and working on this Windows partition, I have less than 3GB space. Also, I cannot drag and drop files from desktop, like a text file into the Windows partition. Says it doesn't have permissions to drop files.
It looks like now I will in fact have to start from scratch and repartition the HD but put in a minimal 12GB or so into the Windows partition. Also, I tried to name the Windows label, but it's locked and under get info, it says the Windows partition is read only, ownership grayed out and says it is NT coded format. Shouldn't that be MS-DOS or FAT 32 automatically?
I have to tell all of you that this is getting time consuming, too complicated and when I get my own ProBook, I have no desire to install VISTA or MS whatever. Plus, we have to still do the MS security pack updates and install virus software for the Windows partition, isn't that correct?
Is there a step by step link here like a BootCamp/Windows XP Pro installation tutorial so I can move a bit faster on my next attempt?
Thanks SteveB -

Bootcamp Windows 7 GTA IV 64MB of video ram
Ok, so here's the issue. I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro. I have OS X Mt. Lion running and bootcamp Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I'm trying to run GTA IV and whenever the game loads it only shows 64MB of video memory. I have 8GB of ram total. When I am on OS X it shows a total of 512MB video memory. I have researched problem extensively. I know the difference between dedicated and shared ram. I have tried solving this from the GTA side and have installed the last patch (1.0.7.0) and I have uninstalled the Rockstar Social Club. I know the integrated Intel 3000 graphics aren't great, but I have had this running in the past. I have tried the driver with bootcamp and I have installed the latest driver from Intel. No luck.
I used to have this working until I had to reinstall my OS X and Windows. I seem to vaguely remember this issue in the past, however that was a year and a half ago so I dont remember what the solution was. I have even tried increasing the size of the virtual memory in Windows. I think its up to something like 15-20GB now. Absurd I know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!the issue is not with the game it's with windows not being able to share the system memory to video memory
any other game then gta would face the same issue -

USB gaming mouse unrecognized by Windows 7 Pro (via BootCamp)
Hey,
I bought a Zowie EC1 Gaming USB mouse. But when I plug it into my MacBook Pro 15" running Windows 7 Pro (via BootCamp), then the mousewheel flashes blue shortly for 1 second or so, and the driver installation process starts. After awhile it says hardware unsuccesfully installed. And when I re-plug the mouse in the same USB port it says unrecognized.
I think maybe it's just some buggy drivers? Anybody experienced something similar with other mice maybe? Or know how I solve this problem.
Kind regards,
SimonI looked around on the web and read a bit about your Zowie EC1. It's a very nice mouse that I need to put on my Christmas list
But it seems that it should be recognized by Windows as a normal USB mouse and install generic drivers. I have a couple of questions:
1) Are there any Windows Updates for your hardware waiting to be installed?
2) Do you have all the Apple Boot Camp drivers installed? Apple just released 3.3 if you're not on Lion (which is 4.0) -
Windows 8 Pro + Bitlocker lonely on a MacBook via Bootcamp
Hello
After some digging I was not able to found the answer neither via Google nor in some forums I looked into. So perhaps somebody out here knows an answer.
I have a MacBook Alu Unibody late 2008 (MacBook5,1), that I do not use anymore. So to pass it to my wife, and as a experiment, I decided to install Windows 8 Pro on it as the only OS (i.e. no Mac OS/X on it).
The installation went fine and except for the longer boot time Windows 8 Pro runs very well on it, especially after I installed BootCamp 5.
Now my problem is with the Bitlocker feature.
I enabled the possibility to use BitLocker without TPM. I tried to activate BitLocker for my drive C:. I entered a password for the drive, and print out the recovery key. Windows restarted the MacBook to test if the drive could be encrypted and will be usable afterards,
However after it comes back and I logged in again and switched to the desktop, Bitlocker told me that it couldn't encrypt my drive C: due to some problem with TPM. I suspect the boot process on a MacBook as the culprit. But I do not know for sure ...
So in the end my drive C: is still unencrypted.
So my question here, did somebody successfully installed a Windows 8 Pro as only OS on a Mac and was able to encrypt the system drive? If yes, how did you do this?
Thanks for any hint, and
Best Regards,
chi.Yes, but I used Truecrypt as Bitlocker wold not work.

MacBook Pro bootcamp windows cant see FAT partition
I have 4 partitions on my SSD
- 1) MAC OS
- 2) SHARED ETC (MAC OS EXT)
- 3) SHARED WORK (FAT)
- 4) NTFS BOOTCAMP
I created two additional partitions (ETC, WORK) after I setup windows via bootcamp, also after I've done that I did a workaround to fix MBR because I wasn't able to boot Windows natively.
But for some reason when I am booting windows it is does not see ETC and WORK partitions! It should be able to see at least WORK(FAT) partition?
How do I fix that?
I want to be able to access WORK(FAT) partition from Windows and ETC(MAC OS EXT) partition as well, if it is possibleCant edit this question eny more, here is some more details http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/112449/macbook-pro-bootcamp-windows-can t-see-fat-partition

Bootcamp Windows 7 to play LoL on MacBook pro
System requirement To play lol https://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/234272-system-requirements
The following are the minimum and recommended system requirements for running League of Legends on a PC:
Minimum System Requirements:
2 GHz processor
1 GB RAM (Windows Vista and 7 users will want 2 GB of RAM or more)
2 GB available hard disk space
Shader version 2.0 capable video card
Support for DirectX v9.0c or better
Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. (Note: Mac OS and Linux are not currently supported.)
Recommended System Requirements
3 GHz processor
2 GB of RAM (Windows Vista and 7 users should use 4 GB of RAM or more.)
6 GB available hard disk space
GeForce 8800 or equivalent video card (Dedicated GPU with 512MB+ Video Memory(VRAM))
Support for DirectX v9.0c or better.
Windows XP with the latest service pack installed, Windows Vista with the latest service pack installed, or Windows 7 (As stated above: Mac OS and Linux are currently not supported.)
The latest update to .NET Framework from Microsoft
Question:
Can I play LoL if I bootcamp windows 7 on MacBook pro 15-inch: 2.3 GHz?
2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
4GB 1600MHz memory
500GB 5400-rpm hard drive1
Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB of GDDR5 memory
Built-in battery (7 hours)2If you're gonna do it via Bootcamp, dedicating the entire hardware to Windows while running the game and already have the Mac, don't see a problem.
If you're deciding whether to buy that Mac or not for this purpose, might want to get the 2.6GHz model instead. Twice the RAM, twice the VRAM and more disk space to set aside for the dedicated Bootcamp partition.

Hello, I have a 2.5" SSD that I'd like to add as a second drive into my HP 500-336. What is the best way to mount this SSD? I don't see a 2.5" bay listed. Thanks!
