Bootcamp windows 8.0 pro installation issue with early 2015 Macbook Pro

I am having this issue with installing Windows 8.0 pro (and 8.1 pro) on my early 2015 MacBook pro vs. Bootcamp. I have tried different method for  multiple times and all failed. Any help is appreciated.
Hardware: (1) early 2015 MacBook Pro with 128GB (13 inches) , (2) Sony USB DVD burner. (3) Two 16 gb flash drive 2.0 version from two different manufactures
Software: (1) 8.0 Pro ISO on flash drive from Microsoft (I have two copies) (2) 8.1 Pro downloaded from Microsoft website.
Note -  I was able to download the bootcamp supporting files successfully and copy to a USB flash drive.
Method 1 - Create the installation disk from ISO on flash drive and also tried copying ISO on hard drive (desktop)- failed.
I have a 16 GB flash drive (2.0V) connected
ISO is a valid 8.0 pro copy from Microsoft came on a flash drive.
I have the windows 8.0 pro ISO on a flash drive and plugged in.
Issue -  It gets to around 50% of "Copying Windows files..." and then doesn't go any further.  8 hours later, still stuck at around 50%.  I also tried to do the copy ISO from desktop. failed as well.
Method 2 - I repeat the above steps with Windows 8.1 ISO downloaded Microsoft website - failed. Stuck at 50% copying windows file for 9 hours.
Method 3 - I burned the Windows 8.0 pro ISO to a DVD and try to do the installation through a DVD instead.  DVD was successfully created.
I was able to perform the partition.  When the computer reboots, it starts the window installation. However, it got stuck at 7% forever. I tried this multiple times and failed.
Method 4 - I download a 8.1 Pro ISO from Microsoft website, I burned it to a DVD. Repeat method 3,  Again, windows installation stuck at 7%.
Method 5 - I called Apple. - What they told me is pretty much repeat the above steps. Still failed.

The ISO file(s) being downloaded seem to be corrupted. Can you use Microsoft FCIV tool - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/841290?wa=wsignin1.0 ?
The DVDs should be burnt at the recommended rate for the physical media. DU should be used for burning the DVDs.

  • Sound Issues with early 2008 Macbook Pro

I have an early 2008 Macbook Pro with Mavericks that has suddenly developed a static and clicking sound through the internal speakers.  The static and clicking sound does not occur when using headphones.  Is this a speaker failing or due to some other reason?

If there is no success with a PRAM reset, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be FREE regardless of the age of the MBP.

  • BootCamp Windows 8.1 Display flicker early 2015 macbook pro 13

I've used the Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows 8 on my early 2015 MacBook Pro 13.  After running windows update and installing Windows 8.1 my display will flicker upon login to the windows partition.   That said I do not experience the flickering screen each time I login to the partition, it is only once in a while, and I've not been able to isolate exactly what happens that causes the screen to flicker (broadwell driver?).
Has anyone experienced this also?  Have you found a method to update the drivers or keep the display from flickering?  I've re-installed the most recent drivers using Boot Camp Assistant before and after the updates had taken place and still experienced the display issue.
Again, it is not every time I login to the windows partition only when I seem to need it most...

Please use Bootcamp Assistant. The new BC drivers are available for 2015 models.

  • Problems with early 2011 MacBook Pro 13" 2.7 GHz / OWC Mercury Extreme Pro

*Has anyone else experienced issues getting their OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD working in the early 2011 MacBook Pros?*
I am having difficulties getting OS X installed on the new OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 240 GB. When I install the SSD in place of the factory HDD and boot from the 10.6.6 reinstallation DVD the SSD is not visible to the installation program. If I quit the 10.6.6 installer and run Disk Utility (from the 10.6.6 installation DVD) the SSD is not visible. If I quit Disk Utility and run System Profiler (from the 10.6.6. installation DVD) the drive is visible and firmware and serial numbers are displayed. So like the drive is visible to OS X but the installer / Disk Utility can not see it.
If I put the SSD in an external USB enclosure it is visible - I can format the drive and copy files to it.
I also tried installing the SSD in place of the factory HDD, putting the HDD in a USB enclosure, booting from the OS X installation on the HDD and running the OS X installer from the 10.6.6 DVD. I was able to select the SSD as the target for the installation and the initial file copy was OK, but when the laptop restarted during the installation the SSD would not boot. The grey folder icon with the flashing question mark was displayed instead. Holding down Option while booting only gave me the option to boot from the DVD.
I also tried resetting the NVRAM and SMC of the MacBook Pro - this did not resolve the issue.
I spoke to OWC support who said they did not know of any compatibility issues with the new MacBook Pros and suggested I request a replacement.
The firmware version of the SSD is 350a13f0

This is my exact problem. I have had 2 of these drives so far and both of them have had the same problem with installation internally. The first one I was able to get operational using the method you described, ie: put the OWC SSD in an external case (FW800 was my choice) and install it there. But I encountered the sleep issues, so I sent it back for a replacement.
The second drive I was finally able to install using the second method, but now the computer regularly locks up. So I'm going to call again and hopefully the third try will work.
Just to clarify. The first drive had sleep issues, but had the older firmware. The second drive had the newer firmware (360 I think it is) and didn't have the sleep issues, but locks up while running.
I'm so irritated on how many hours I've spent on this issue. And their support department, though very nice, wasn't helpful at all. It's as if they never heard of this problem.

  • My Early 2015 MacBook Pro fans are at 0 RPM and my cpu temperature never fluctuates

Hello all I have had a Mid 2009 macbook pro for 5 years now and just got my Early 2015 MacBook Pro.  On my old macbook i used iStat and SMC fan controller religiously and everything worked great.
Now with my new Early 2015 MacBook Pro, My CPU sensor doesn't even show up in iStat, and in my top toolbar, SMC controller shows my CPU temp never moves, and my fans are at 0 RPM. I cannot hear any fans moving at all when in a completely silent room, and my ear is to the computer.
I downloaded a game to stress the CPU to see if it'd change, and it doesn't all the way up to the fans just coming on at 6000RPM and the CPU is very high like 80-90C
I have already reset my PRAM and SMC and was wondering if anyone here has been monitoring their temps and have seen the same thing?
    Thanks

I also have an Early 2015 rMBP w/ i5-5287U cpu.  I am using Temperature Gauge from the Mac App Store and getting similar if not slightly worse results.  I'm usually Idling somewhere between 45 and 60 C with almost no activity.  When I run games, forget about it (see below), temps up to 103 Celsius.  I also experience almost no fans until at least 70 C, and then during gaming the heat is not coming down.
Given that the cpu is supposed to shut itself down at around 105 C, I'm thinking that the programs are not decoding the temperature sensors correctly.  This is my first Mac so it's hard for me to compare performance.  I expected better heat regulation.  I was trying to avoid programs outside of the mac store for this type of thing, but I'm considering OGELTHORPE's suggestion for istat menus, as they do claim to support early 2015 MacBooks.  Have you tried this program yet?

  • Used safe start to try and fix issues with safari on MacBook Pro but it shuts down right after it stops. What can I do.

Safari kept shutting down and someone suggested trying a safe start to correct issue. All this did was create a new oils sue as my MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.1 system only begins the safe start within lay a small portion of the bar filling and then shuts down. Now I cannot even get back to my regular screen.

    artbyval,
    what is an “oils sue”?
Have you tried booting into your recovery partition? To do so, hold down a Command key and the R key as you start up. It should eventually show a Mac OS X Utilites menu, from which Disk Utility can be selected. In Disk Utility, select the disk that your MacBook Pro boots from (typically named “Macintosh HD”). Once the disk is selected, press the “Verify Disk” button; if it shows problems, press the “Repair Disk” button. Once the verification/repair is complete, restart normally, to see if you can login as normal. Once you can log in again, see if Safari still has the same problem with shutting down.

  • Sleep/wake Issues With Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 13"

    Dear Apple Community,
I have been recently having issues with the sleep/wake cycle of my laptop. Every time my laptop goes to sleep and I try to wake it up it gets stuck on a blank screen for 3 mins before returning to normal functionality. I have tried deleting the sleep image files and the laptop functions fine for a day and then back to the same issues. I have 3 sleep image files, 2 of them are 1.07gb each and the other one is 64mg. I have deleted them many times and they just come back with the same issues. Any help here would be appreciated. Thank You

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
Paste into the window of another application.
Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

  • Wireless issues with my new Macbook Pro

Just bought a new Macbook Pro, straight out of the box. Works fine with ethernet but wireless it only works in the same room as the router. Elsewhere in the house it won't connect. My other macbook and Macbook air seem to have the same setup and work everywhere around the house. What would make the new Macbook Pro not work on wireless?

    I've a Macbook Pro 15 intel & a Powerbook 17 powerPC
the Powerbook 17 connects to the Airport WiFI always the Macbook Pro 15 did not.
Noticed at work the Macbook Pro 15 always connected to the WiFI (Cisco?) the router is in the ceiling
Moved my Airport WiFI at home UP towards the ceiling (on a higher shelf-better if you could place in ceiling) was on a low shelf
Now Macbook Pro connects always connect through Airport router
My hunch ---> Macbook Pro same antenna issues as the iPhone 4 is experiencing
    the antenna engineers screwed-up
Although the Macbook Pro is smaller than the Powerbook 17 -- it ain't that smaller
try it - put wireless router in attic or ceiling -- up higher

  • Major heat issues with first gen Macbook Pro

It sure seems like I should be able to find an easy answer for this, but I can't.
I have (I believe) a first generation Macbook Pro. 2ghz processor, 2gb of RAM (maxed), running 10.5.8.
When running streaming videos on it, the temperature gets absolutely out of control. 194-200 degrees (F) for the CPU, and over 120 degrees on the bottom case. This is WITH the fans going at almost 6,000 RPM, and the computer is elevated at the corners in order to allow for airflow underneath.
There's a lot of separation between the top and bottom pieces near the bottom left of the computer (the corner near the Z key), if that means anything. What the heck is happening here, and can I do anything to fix this without spending hundreds of dollars at a repair shop?

  • Display Issues on Early 2011 Macbook Pro

I am currently experiencing an undocumented problem for my 15 inch Macbook Pro (Early 2011 Version), and was hoping to get some help diagnosing what the issue might be.
Lately, it seems that whenever I am doing anything that is computationally expensive (i.e. streaming video using Flash or Silverlight, or using parallel processing in MATLAB), my screen goes haywire and shows up noisy green lines on anything that is supposed to black. Similarly I get noisy light blue lines on anything that is supposed to be white. I am including a pictures below to illustrate the issue.
I have tried several fixes, but nothing has worked to day. Changing the color profile does not change anything. Taking a screenshot does not change anything. Also, the issue seems to pop up regardless of whether or not I have the onboard graphics card enabled. I am also fairly certain that this is a hardware issue, since I reinstalled Lion and updated all of my software after it first started happening.
I would appreciate any input in regards to further diagnosing the problem. I have an appointment coming up at the local Mac store, but I'm almost dreading going in since I do not want to have to send the computer in for repair.

i've done a complete rebuild back to 10.6.8 and found that both problems appear to have disappeared, both screen and TV working again since this morning without seeing any issues.
I'm now installing Lion to see if it returns.
the only difference will be that I'm not going to install bootcamp until later, this will be a clean install as before I installed Lion on a previous version of 10.6.8 with bootcamp etc already installed.
maybe this will work, wish me luck

  • Is it OCZ Agility 3 480GB SATA3 compatible with Early 2011 macbook pro?

Hello everyone, i'm insteresting to change my Hard Drive to a Solid State Drive on my MacBook Pro 15inch early 2011. I'm thinking to buy this one (OCZ Agility 3 480GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - (AGT3-25SAT3-480G)) but I don't know if is it compatible with my macbook version.
Here some details about the SSD

    Flash: MLC,
    Controller: SandForce SF-2281,
    Buffer: 0MB
    My Macbook details
    CPU: 2.2 Intel Core i7
    Ram: 8GB
So what do you think? Is tis compatible or not?
    Thank you

    Hi Eleni1,
If you are having intermittent but persistent WiFi issues with your MacBook Pro, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful. You may also want to consider upgrading to OS X 10.8.4 or later to take advantage of the more advanced Wireless Diagnostics that were added with that release.

  • Is the SSD in the 15" MacBook Pro Retina compatible with the 13" MacBook Pro Retina?

A friend upgraded his Retina MacBook Pro 15" from 256GB to an OWC 480GB SSD.  He was going to sell me the 256GB SSD he pulled out of his rMBP.  I was thinking of buying the base 13" rMBP and installing that 256GB SSD from the 15" rMBP.  Will that work or are they not compatible.  Eyeballing it, they look to be exactly the same size so physically it would fit but not sure if they are not compatible for other reasons.

none of what you mentioned - use a damp micro fibre cloth to wipe your macbook retina.
make sure it's damp and not wet.
using a wet cloth can cause some drips between the keys that might create an issue - so make sure it's just damp.

  • New install (early 2015 MacBook Pro) doesn't enable Scanner

Setting up this printer on new MacBook Pro and the Scanner isn't being enabled via the standard setup. I installed the HP driver (HP-Inkjet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.37.dmg) but this did not work.
I'm used to the Scan option occuring in System Preferences > Printers and Scanners but the printer is only showing up with the Print option.
I'd like to have the Scanning option from the System Preferences view - this has worked find on other Mac models running Yosemite so not sure what the issue actually is...

Hello @AfroCreep , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help!
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HT5219 When can we expect a fix for the Windows 8.1 hot-plug issue with a Thunderbolt device.

When can we expect a fix for the Windows 8.1 hotplug issue with a Thunderbolt device.  I got a dock to easy my up-and-go time when moving from using my laptop on the desk vs in meetings.  Instead my computer crashes and I have to reboot.
I am seeing this issue with the 2012 Macbook pro Retina running Bootcamp with Windows 8.1 x64 bit with the F4U055 Dock from Belkin

I can confirm that hotplug does work properly on Windows 8.1 with Asus Thunderbolt ExII (Thunderbolt 2)
But does not work with Windows 8.1 and MacBook Pro Retina (Thunderbolt 1)
To get hot plug working with the Asus Thunderbolt ExII, you install the intel thunderbolt drivers, and then you get an interface where you can eject devices, and do things like setup more detailed security. However, this doesn't have any effect with the MacBook Pro. I suspect that either:
    1) Apple's Thunderbolt hardware doesn't support hotplugging on windows
    2) Hotplugging on Windows requires Thunderbolt 2
So, I should check on my Mac Pro (dustbin edition) to see if it works there with Thunderbolt II
Be great to hear if anybody has any success with this on an Apple device!
