Bootcamp won't recognize my Windows 8.1 Installation Disk

I'm running a MacbookPro, and I've been attempting to re-bootcamp it after that last hard drive on it failed. The first time I boot camped it went flawlessly. Now I'm trying it with the same Installation Disc and it won't work. The version is Windows 8.1, I bought the operating system almost a year ago and created the installation disk myself. Can anyone help?

Is the USB flash disk a USB2 or a USB3 device? You can check by looking at System Report -> USB in About This Mac. If it shows up under Super-speed, it is USB3 otherwise it is a USB2 flash drive.

Just purchased photoshop cs6 for windows and received installation disk.  Where do you find the serial number on the disk?  What should the serial number start with?  The disk was in the original box and I see a number that start with 910.....
The box was in a brown envelope and there is barcode sticker on the back with more numbers.  Where should I look for the actual serial number.

  • Bootcamp won't recognize Win7 dvd

I have a late 2008 aluminum body Macbook (5,1), running OS X 10.7.4 and Bootcamp 4.0.3. I replaced the 160 GB Toshiba HDD with a Crucial M4 SSD and boot off that. The problem I'm having is that even though it allows me to create the partition, it won't recognize neither the 32-bit DVD I purchased nor the 64-bit DVD of Windows 7 Professional. I'm sure everything is up to date, so I'm not sure what the problem is. It'll just try to read it for a few minutes then spit the DVD out. Also, the download of the Windows support software seems to be taking forever. Any help? Thanks in advance!

If you can't even make the partition then something else is wrong. Even without a DVD in the drive Boot Camp should still create the Windows partition. That is done before it even looks for a Windows install DVD.

  • Bootcamp won't recognize my XP Professional CD

Ok so i aquired a new Startup installation disk for Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2. Its a 1 CD installation, and has all the requirements to meet bootcamp specifications. I have a _macbook 13 inch with OS X 10.6.3_
What has been happening, is i start up bootcamp, and partition my hard drive (which had no partitions before). I gave it 25 Gigs (thats all it needs...) and partitioned the hard drive. I then hit the Start Installation on Bootcamp after inserting my windows xp CD.
Windows Setup begins running, and things look great until i get to the point where it says "There is no previous version of windows on your computer. *Make sure your CD is in the drive, and then press enter to continue*". I do that, and then it says *"Windows cannot find the CD. Please make sure it is the correct version...blah blah blah Please press enter to continue."* It stops there because it doesn't recognize the CD! I tried multiple ways to enter the Windows startup, like holding down the option key, etc etc. Anybody else having this problem? Can anyone help?? Thanks a lot!

The problem with an OEM Windows XP SP2 disk is that they are expecting to be installed on a drive that has already been formatted for Windows. So it will not give you option to format the drive. You need the full retail version of Windows XP SP2 to get the “Full Format” screen.
Boot Camp creates a partition for windows but does not format it for Windows. This is why it gives you a “Disk Error, Press any key to restart" message when you try to install an OEM disk on it.
To install from an OEM disk press the F10 key when the install asks you to press F6 (the one for the additional RAID drivers), wait 5 to 10 minutes to load all the drivers and it will change to the Recovery Console. At the C:> prompt type "FORMAT C: /FS:FAT32" (Without the quotation marks but a space between FORMAT and C and between the : and /FS)(Or "FORMAT C: /FS:NTFS" for a larger than 32gb partition) then answer “Y” to the “This will erase all information on the disk. Do you want to continue? (Y/N)”. After it finishes formatting the C: drive type “exit” at the C:> prompt.
It will take you back to the beginning and start up from the press F6 screen. This is allright because you’ve just erased all those drivers it loaded when you formatted the C: drive.
I got the “Press any key to boot from CD” flash up first when it restarted after loading all the drivers and thought it hadn’t worked but it immediately went to the “Installing Windows” screen and successfully installed Windows XP SP2 from the OEM disk.

  • Boot Camp Assistant won't read my windows 7 professional installation dvd, HELP!!

    Hi Guys,
For some reason Boot Camp Assistant won't read my Windows 7 Professional x64 Installation DVD? It appears in Finder, however there is only 1 readme.txt file on the disc in Finder. I had Boot Camp set up and working on my Macbook for almost a year but had to remove it and start again, so I can't understand why all of a sudden it can't seem to load any Windows DVD's? I even tried my Windows 7 Home Premium disc but again, the same message keeps popping up that I need to insert my installation disc and wait a few seconds for it to be recognised
Can someone pretty, pretty, possibly please help me out here in some way?

  • No Windows Parttion on Installer Disk

I installed Windows Vista 32 bit successfully, but when I tried to install the Apple Boot Camp drivers, Windows didn't find anything on my Install disk. I tried to read the disk on an actual Windows computer and it did the same thing. There doesn't appear to be a Windows portion of this disk.
I am running an iMac with the latest updates to OS X. My install disk, however, is 10.4.10. The Boot Camp Installer program I used is version 2.0.
Is there a way to get the necessary drivers with this configuration?
    Thanks for the help.
    Ken Gluckman

    Kgluckman:
The boot camp drivers that you are looking are not on the 10.4 (Tiger Disk). They exist only on the 10.5 (Leopard Disk) installation disk. You will need the Leopard Installation disk to install the necessary boot camp 2.0 drivers in Windows.

  • Bootcamp won't recognize windows 7 64 bit iso image

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro 13.3 inch with retina.
    Software  OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
I'm running   Boot ROM Version: MBP111.0138.B07
I have windows 7 64 bit, as an iso image on my macbook pro. But for some reason when I run bootcamp I keep getting this error message.
Which doesn't make sense, because I know that I have the 64-bit version installed.
There was a forum that suggest changing one of the text files in applications > utilities > right clicking on bootcamp assistant > content > then changing the info.plist file.
It required me to add a line of text
    <string>MacBookPro11,1</string>
I followed all the steps but then for some reason I was unable to start the bootcamp application, it would show an error.
    Thanks

iso file is an image of an optical disc
any burner programs can burn as such to a dvd
bootcamp didn't have any problems installing from my windows 7 ultimate disc which contain both 64bit and 32bit install

  • Bootcamp won't recognize USB with ISO, nor Windows Installer Disc

I have been wanting to install Windows on a seperate partition through Bootcamp. To do this i have both created an ISO, and have a Windows Installation disc. However, when i open bootcamp the following two problems occur:
The option to use an .iso on a USB, is faded and I am unable to use it.
I therefore choose to install via a disc, this goes fine right until the point where i choose partition size. Upon choosing the size i want to partition and clicking next, Bootcamp brings up an error saying that I must insert the windows installer disc and wait some seconds. However IT IS INSERTED! I have tried mounting the .iso as well, nothing seems to work.
Is there anyway to get bootcamp to partition without it having to find my windows installer disc? I am certain that there is nothing wrong with the windows iso, nor disc, so i really just want it to work...
    I am running Lion on a Macbook Pro 13 2011, Bootcamp 4.0

    Hey, finally found the solution.
The problem wasn't burn speed, but rather the OS i used to burn with, meaning that windows apparently wasn't even capable of burning a disc correctly. I transfered the ISO to my Macbook and mounted it, I then used disc utilities to burn it to a disc and VOILA! Everything worked smoothly!

  • My Bootcamp (OS X Leopard) won't recognize my Windows 7 Installer CD and ejects it. Help!

Hello, I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate on my iMac bought in 2008. Unfortunately, when I clicked Start Installation on the Boot Camp Assistant, it says "The installer disc could not be found. Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized." The iMac eventually ejects the installer disc.
    Help!

You need to delete files from the hard drive before you upgrade. I believe Leopard requires 9GB of free space, and then you also want at LEAST 10GB free at all times.
Is the disc black with a silver X?

  • Bootcamp won't recognize mic on mac mini.

Im running boot camp windows 7 64, and I bought a dynex dx-28 mice that has the green and pink inouts, for audio out and mic in. My mac mini(late 2009) recognizes the speakers on the headset and they work fine, but the mic is "Line In, Realtek High Definiton Audio" and I cant get any sort of sound in from the mic. When I tried it on a different computer running windows on a dell it showed the input as an acutal Microphone. I would really like to use this headset, any tips?

The headset also came with a cable that turns both of the green and pink plugs into one black plug if that helps.

  • T500 won't recognize USB - Windows 7 Home Premium

I have a T500 that will not recognize any of the USB ports or the SD card reader. I have flashed the bios, checked the bios settings on boot up(USB is enabled), deleted the USB drivers in Windows 7 and reinstalled. Nothing has worked so far. Haven't tried the USB ports on a docking station with the machine docked yet. I am stumped. Can anyone help?

Smells like a disconnected wiring harness.  I'm not positive, but I think the card reader and ports are on the same bus.
    Open it up and check.

  • Itunes won't recognize Ipod, Windows DOES

    Hi,
I've been through the entire list of options to "fix" my problem on the Apple page. I reinstalled the latest version of itunes, reset my ipod (holding the menu and center button down at the same time) and checked my USB ports (are working fine).
My computer recognized my ipod, however, my itunes will not. I've toggled the hold button, opened and closed itunes, and restarted my computer... nothing.
Also, although my ipod appears to reset successfully (the apple icon appears) nothing seems to change. I tried to reset the settings directly on the ipod as well- again no change. When I hold down the play/pause button, the screen goes black (assume this is turned off?) but when I press the center button again (to presumably turn it on) but the apple icon does not come on, instead it goes right to the first menu screen. Did it even turn off?

The gist of my last message is that my iPod files were corrupted and I had to go in and fix them. When you open "My Computer" open the iPod drive and then go to Tools and click folder options and then "veiw hidden files/folders".
At the end of that question, I posted pictures of the healthy drive files and b_noir posted pictures of a healthy drive. See if there is any major descrepency between yours and ours. If yours look clean, then you might want to try changing the drive letter. That one is on the following link. Just click the option halfway down or so that says "Windows confuses iPod with network drive". You could also try the other ones too, but do that one first.

  • Flash drive somehow corrupt.  Finder won't recognize it and Disk Utility won't repair it

I have a 16 GB SanDisk Cruzer flash drive.  Somehow, and I haven't figured it out yet, but is got corrupted and Finder won't recognize anymore.  So I opened Disk Utility and verified the disk and it said that it needed to be repaired.  So I tried it and I got the message saying "Disk Erase failed with the error:  File system formatter failed."  And when I try to reformat it, I get the same message.  I've tried it with a PC as well but it doesn't show up and Disk Manager won't reformat it either.  I've given up on recovering the files, but I still would like to recover the drive.  Any solutions would be appreciated.

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this, boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type:  ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

  • CS2 upgrade won't recognize Photoshop 5.0 CD or Install

I am reiinstalling after a HDD crash and CS2 which previously worked fine in Win XP, won't recognize my Photoshop 5.0 installation to upgrade it.
It gave me a # to give customer support so they could give me an unlock code per install screen instructions.  Come to find out, they don't support 5.0 and earlier versions anymore.
Anyone have a solution or workaround for this issue?

  • I have a Windows 7 Pro OEM disk that can install either the 32 or 64 bit version. When using version 5.0.3 of Bootcamp, I keep getting the message that it is a 32 bit disk.  Any ideas how to get it to recognize the 64 bit version?

I have a Windows 7 Pro OEM disk that can install either the 32 bit or 64 bit versions.  When trying to setup a dual boot for my Mac Mini using Bootcamp version 5.0.3, I get the message that I have the 32 bit version of Windows.  Any ideas on how I can get it to recognize the 64 bit version so that I can partition my "Mini"?

If by "OEM" you mean the disk came with another Win computer, it won't work. You need either a full retail verison or the "System Builders' Edition." I used the latter for my BC installation and it worked flawlessly and was marked as 64-bit--no mention of 32-bit.
