Booting back to Mac OS

I have Windows 7 installed into a bootcamp partition. Everything works marvellously, but my problem is that when booting back into Mac OS I have to reset the clock which is always 14 hours advanced.
Has anyone else had this problem or a fix for it?

Hi
On the mac side launch System Preferences, click on the Date & Time Preferences Pane. Adjust your location by clicking on the Time Zone Tab. On the Date & Time Tab select an appropriate NTP Server. For where you are the asian one will do.
If this does not work manually adjust the clock to the correct time by un-ticking the "Set date and time automatically" option.

  • Why wont it boot back into mac?

ive tried almost everything ive tried tech support and ive tried booting it from the start screen while holding down the option key and choosing mac but it keeps sending me back into windows

WHAT OS X do you have?
Tech support should have said to use Lion Recovery - Command-r or OS X OEM DVD (or retail)
I recommend installing OS X on a small 30GB volume as part of your TimeMachine drive, and then a 100GB volume partition to clone OS X with Carbon Copy Cloner
Option key is not so much "Held" down as tap at the right time or just hold MOUSE down to pause as if to ask for a CD/DVD.
Sounds like an issue for Lion more than Windows.
When you ARE in Windows then why not just use the Boot Camp Control Panel to set it to Mac OS X? that should work.

  • I have Mac OS X, using boot camp i installed windows 7.  installation was successful but when i try to select to boot back to mac os x via boot camp from Windows 7 control panel, its saying "You may not have privileges to change the startup disk..."

from the boot camp control panel, highlighted "Macintosh HD Mac OS X", click on Restart button or click OK or click Apply buttons gave me "An error occurred while trying to change the startup disk.  You may not have privileges to change the startup disk.  Make sure you have administrative privileges and try again."
Im logged in to Windows 7 as admin thou but still giving me the above message.
i rebooted & the option key does not give me option to boot to Mac instead gives me a screen with lock then below is a blank field then a right arrow on the right side, i normally hit the power button from this screen
    please help
    thx

sorry for digging up an old thread, but what was the problem?

  • Cannot boot back into mac

I have done a few searches, learned some good info along the way, but I notice that questions similar to this aren't getting any response.
Boot Camp seems to run fine, but 3 out of 4 times, when I exit the PC via the BootCamp System tray, the Mac stalls. Instead of chiming and loading Mac OS, it goes into a sleep mode (power LED is completely off, but I can hear & feel the HD spinning. The Mac does not recover from this mode, so I end up forcing the power off.
All fine, but I do not want to force a shut down 3-4 times a day.
Does the lack of response means there is no precedent for this issue?

    My error?
That is scary as I haven't really touched anything inside of Windows besides the PC software we installed it for. Not sure what I could have done to cause an error, although I'm no technician, hence the question here.
No battery here (Mac Pro) but I will find the IT guy and have him run WRE.
I can handle disk repair from the Mac side, however that has been done very recently.
Anymore suggestions/similar experiences from anyone else?
    Thanks

  • Boot Camp, How to switch back to Mac OS X from Windows?

I successfully installed boot camp and Vista on my imac so I could watch netflix on my computer (other than that I have no use or patience for Vista or Windows). Now, I am in Windows Vista and am unable to switch back to Mac OS X. I have looked everywhere, including the Windows Help and Support and I can't see how to close Windows and get back to the good side.

Open the Control Panel, click on Startup Disk, and change the setting; this item will only appear if the Boot Camp drivers are installed. Alternatively, restart the computer with the X or Option keys held down; in the second case, select the Mac OS X system, push the button with the straight arrow, and change the startup disk from System Preferences afterwards.

I partitioned a small drive for a windows program, and now the computer only wants to boot to Windows.  How do I get back to Mac so I can have a choice of drives?

That doesn't sound good. It sounds like the power outage might have corrupted the partition for OS X. I would suggest booting from the Install DVD that came with your Mac while holding down the C key. Once you have selected the language start up Disk Utility from the pull down menu and repair the disk. Once you have done that then repair permissions also.

  • Boot camp - getting back to mac

I recently put windows 7 on my mac through boot camp and somehow ended up deleting the harddrive with mac on it, i am now only left with windows 7. How do i go back to Mac?
    Please help
    Thank you

If you have not made a back-up of your Mac OS before hand, I think you will have to start all over again.

  • Booted from PC back to MAC?

Hi there, I am wondering......I did not purchase extended phone support yet from Apple, so I am trying to find out if anyone else has ever encountered this problem?
It didn't happen today. But a couple of months ago, I kept being booted out of PC side back to MAC side. When this happend, I also lost my bootcamp icon on the toolbar in PC also. It didn't happen today, and the bootcamp icon is there.
Anyone know what that was about?
    Thanks

    Hi.
    Thanks.
I am hardly ever in PC, but yes, there was an issue. First that happened, then the norton anti virus stopped working, but i left it for months bc i know how many hours i spend on phone trying to correct issues with technology. This is a brand new system, not even a year old, so i wasn't expecting problems. I did sit today and have the virus protector re-installed with norton. I did ask if they thought this was the cause of these other problems (booting me out), and he said no. I did a quick system scan, i had one keytracker only. I then went to contact MICROSOFT, but i find out that there is a charge (large one too) to contact microsoft for tec support now. When did that become in effect? It wasn't a few months back!
I did have another odd thing happen only one time after this stuff was going on. I was on MAC, and a microsoft pop up window opened, telling me of a problem or something? (cant remem. exactly). I was suspicious and didn't touch the message. Never had it again, but there was something similiar on the news around that time. I was in mac though?
I think i will go back and do a full system scan on pc next.
Yet another question for you though....can virus's attack pc, if i am not using it, but on mac?

  • How do I prevent Firefox from automatically starting when I boot-up my Mac in the morning?

Whenever I boot up my Mac in the morning Firefox automatically starts and displays my home page. I would only like to see the desk top with no applications running. I am running OSX 10.4.11 on my laptop.
== Started possibly a few weeks ago.

Hmm.. Okay I've done a bit more digging and tried the following two things before the last restart.. Not sure which one actually worked but give these a shot (one at a time) and let us know which is the ''actual'' solution! :)
    1. Open Safari -> Preferences -> General
    - change "Default Web Browser" to Safari
    - Close all applications
    - Relaunch Safari and change default browser back to Firefox.
    2. Remove the check from "Reopen windows when logging in" in the logout dialog and logout of the computer..
I suspect step 2 is actually the proper solution, but I did both so, hopefully one of them works for everyone else!

  • Itunes music on external drive - how to get it back onto mac.

hi - some time ago I transferred my growing itunes library to an external hard drive. The database remained on the mac. My mac was an old powerpc imac. So far no problem. Things moved on and I have just bought a new imac i3 etc. I would now like to transfer my itunes content to the new mac as it has loads of space. Alternatively I would be happy to keep the music on the external drive. I transferred the contents of the old mac to the new mac without any difficulty. The database on itunes arrived seemlessly on the new mac. I plugged in the external hard drive and nothing worked. I had forgotten that the old mac was power pc and the new mac was of course intel.
My question is now, how do I get the library on the external drive back onto my old mac so that I can transfer it to the new mac? Any ideas. I am sure it is simple, but am not the best on computers. I can follow instructions.

    mdockrell wrote:
will make sure both machine are running the same version and try again
again, the version shouldn't matter - the worst that could happen is that the newer version would need to update the library (which may take a while).
if you still have access the the PPC, try copying its iTunes folder once more to the intel. you can use a thumb drive or connect the two Macs with a firewire cable, boot the source Mac in _*Target Disk Mode*_, and copy the entire iTunes folder from <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music on the source to <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music on the target (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there).
connect the external to the intel and wait for it to mount, then launch iTunes.
    what happens ?

It sounds like you destroyed your boot partition and the recovery partition.  Depending on it's age, your MacBook Air might be able to do a net boot.  Plug and ethernet connection into it and attempt to boot.  If it has the right firmware, it will find a net boot configuration on the net and boot that.  Then it will give you a Recovery Partition like display and allow you to reinstall the OS X version that came with it.... assuming that it was Lion or ML.  If your computer came with Snow Leopard, then even the net boot won't work.
At that point you need a bootable USB Key, or an external DVD drive AND a Snow Leopard installation DVD.
An Apple Store, if there is one nearby, MAY be able to get you going again.  However, whatever is on the SSD now will be toast too.

  • Windows and xp will not boot (1st gen Mac Pro)

i have a first generation mac pro and i am having trouble booting into my boot camp volumes.
when i run an option boot i get four icons
    1. Lion
    2. windows
    3. windows
    4. disk recovery
i have a note on my screen here that tells me the first windows icon is windows 7 and the second icon is windows xp. however, every time i click on one of these disks the screen either locks up or the icon stays selected and i have to do a /manual/ shutdown and it /usually/ will boot into whatever windows volume i had selected.
NOW when i try this i am getting windows recovery messages and when i tell it to boot into windows normally it kicks me out to a computer RESTART and then it will boot into Mac OS.
i realize i can /change/ the regular boot volume to trick it into booting back into whichever windows volume i am trying to use but at this point this all seems like things are going off the rails somehow.
i have just recently moved all my data to drive 3 and am cloning this data to drive 4. drive 1 is Lion with a partition containing windows 7 and drive 2 is a 500 GB volume containing my xp install.
SHOULD I pull out all the disks and put them back in to make sure they are seated properly? should i move them around physically in the drive perhaps? should i run some software boot restore/re-index software?
i really, really have to finish this reconfiguration of my machine but - is it possible this is simply due to the age of the computer in which case i will spend time on this after buying a new mac pro that will upgrade to Mountain Lion...
    TIA, jon
