Booting Xp with wireless set to gateway on Mega 865 Pro

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how I can set the wireless card up to automatically switch to Gateway mode after XP has booted.
It goes into Station Mode by default but I can see a setting to say I want it to start in Gateway mode.
Any Ideas?
Danny

Dunno if you allready did, but you need to have the latest BIOS to run Win XP SP2 on the MEGA 865 Pro. When i bought mine, Sp2 wasn't out yet and things worked fine. When i tried installing SP2, everything went fine, untill i boot. Black screen and nothing, after a while MSI released a new BIOS fixing the problem, newest BIOS i think is 1.30

  • Help with mega 865 pro and maxtor sata 6L300S0

i have a mega 865 pro i just install a new HDD model maxtor sata 6L300S0 300 GB and it is very slow on the mega i contact maxtor and they say i have to verify if i have correct SATA driver installed. but everything looks ok on the system. where i can download that driver again? any one can help me?
    What im doing wrong?

I'm having the same problem with my Mega 865 pro and my Maxtor 6l200mo (200gb).
Seems to boot up fine, dosn't take any longer to load up startup items than my old system. Though using pretty much any program results in the system pausing and stuttering for a few seconds. I have noticed it most recenltly when watching video files (mpeg/divx). While i'm watching a video, it will keep pausing at random times.....sometimes every 5 seconds....sometimes every 5 mintues. It does the same when i'm not connected to the internet too, and does the same if I am simply playing mp3s or just on the internet! When it seems to do it most is like now! I have an mpeg playing (300mb) in a window, and while I am browsing the internet and even typing this post, it is pausing for a few seconds which is really frustrating! My old system was pretty similar spec to my current Msi system, though it wasn't a barebones system and was slighty lower spec. That worked flawlessly doing the same tasks so my guess is it must be an Ata problem. Another Mega865 gripe that is bugging me!
Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers!

  • Problems with Mega 865 Pro

    Hi,
I have a problem with the product Mega PC 865 For. Not risco to install the radio, when the asset tells me no mesa partition found '. what must I do?. Thanks.

    Hi !!
To be on the safe side i changed my ram to one piece of corsair ram 512Mb and tested it. Everything works fine.
Managed to install Win 2003 server last night once... It ran for about 30 mins then the machine hang. It didn't restart.
When i try to install both xp or 2003 the machine reboots at the same place every single time. Installing devices. When it
switches from 35 to 34 mins it reboots.
Are there any newer bios than the one i have ver 1.0 !!?? I haven't found it anywhere. I have tested all peripherals inside
the machine in other comps and they work fine.
The thing i have noticed is that it runs very hot !! 58 degrees Celsius just idling in bios !! BTW when the machine is idling
either on a boot floppy in dos or in bios it runs for hours. My conclusion is either the machine overheats in install mode or
some device in the machine (mobo) is faulty. But that seems far fetched too due to one succesful install of win 2003 server.
I use the heatsink that came with the 865 Pro what heatsink do you guys use !!??

  • 304 message when trying to boot up with wireless keyboard

I have a Compaq Presario 6019US using Windows XP Home edition. I recently purchased a Logitech K800 wireless keyboard. After installing the new wireless and unplugging the PS2 wired keyboard I tried to reboot my PC. I got a 304 message saying keyboard not found....  The wireless keyboard works after I boot up, it works when I unplug the PS2 wired keyboard. Only problem is the PC is NOT recognizing the wireless keyboard on boot up or restart. I have spent 2 days on the phone with Microsoft Tech support at a cost of $99 dollars and still can not fix the problem. I have tried to get into the BIOS and turn of PSK Halt and still no success. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

If you are using LELA delete it from your computer.  It is not needed.  Connect viw your wired computer to 192.168.1.1 username blank password admin (or whatever you made it) and configure your router manually.

  • Trying to install from FTP from boot disk with wireless card

Well my card uses wlan-ng, but the bootdisk doesn't have that file. I also tried Prism54 (my card is a Netgear MA311 that is apparently a Prism 2)
    http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/showp … 36&cat=149
I tried manually putting in the IP address, netmask, gateway, and DNS server, but I still have to put in the WEP key, but it doesn't ask me for the WEP key. So I'm sort of troubled here. I want to install from FTP so I can get updated packages much more easily. Thanks in advance. I promise, one day when I become a Linux genius, I will help out other newbies like me.

RaDeuX wrote:Okay, so I gave up the FTP install and installed Arch base. However, Ubuntu isn't letting me update grub through the terminal. I am the administrator for my computer, so I don't think I need to be a superuser. Even if I tried, my account password doesn't match the superuser password. Weird. I'm still digging through stuff to find the grub configuration file.
Do I understand you correctly? You have installed Arch and now wish to edit the grub config file, menu.lst, which is on an Ubuntu partition so that you can add your Arch install to it? If you mean something else, please clarify. My answer would be, you do need to get superuser rights under Ubuntu - use 'sudo'. This is very easy with mc: do 'sudo mc', enter your password when prompted, navigate to the file and then edit it using the built-in editor.

  • Is there any possible way I can dual boot Windows with OSX 10.7.2 on a MacBook Pro 15' from 2006?

    Hello,
I am new to this forums.
I have searched about dual boot win/mac, but couldn't find a clear answer, so I decided to post this now.
I run a MacBook Pro 15' from 2006 (Intel based) and have upgraded it to OSX 10.7.2 Lion.
I have tried to install windows 7 on a small (20GB) partition by using Bootcamp, but then I've received a notice saying that there was no windows support software available. However, I did install Windows 7 Professional by unchecking that box. After the installation I have downloaded the windows support software and tried to install it but then I've received a notice saying that I can't install it on this machine.
Could you please give me any suggestions on how to dual boot win/mac, if it is possible at all using this machine? And how to safely go back to where I was before (with a single mac OSX 10.7.2 partition)?
    Thanks.

This problem has been solved as I just needed to download Boot Camp 4.
    Can I delete this post?

  • Best Graphics and Tuner Card for 865 Pro with XP MCE (Maybe Vista?)

    Hi all,
I'm looking at rebuilding my 865 Pro
I haven't upgraded the graphics so what do people recommend as the best AGP card for the 865 Pro
I have the MSI tuner but I am looking a ditching instant on for MCE would like to get a idea for digital tuning card (I'm in the UK). Would anybody recommend using a combined AGP/Tuner card like the ATI All in Wonder cards or using a USB Tuner?
I am thinking I will have to stick with XP because of driver support. I have dual boot to Vista at the moment but the wifi doesn't work.
    Idea and Suggestions welcome
    Danny

    Thanks for the reply Stu.
I tried installing the XP wi-fi driver in Vista and I couldn't get it to work. I didn't try harder as the Mega 865 Pro is not supposed to be Vista compatible.
Is there a 3rd party driver I should try?
The reason I would like to upgrade the graphics is to have the option to play some games and I am beginning to find limitation with the on board graphics. I tried to check out second life on the mega the other week and it wouldn't set up because the graphics wasn't up to it.
I have tried installing a dedicated APG card before - the Gigabyte nVidia Geforce 6600 with heatpipe passive cooling.
It is a great card but I found every now and then the PC would crash with it running. It is a very tight fit with the TV tuner card and the airflow wasn't good.
So I am looking at using a small APG card or replacing the tuner. That’s why a combined card seemed to make sense and would free up the PCI slot.
As power is a problem for some graphics cards is upgrading the PSU an option?
    Thanks
    Danny

  • HP P1102w Wireless Printer will not pair with a Motorola SBG6782-AC Wireless Cable Modem Gateway

I previously had AT&T U-verse Internet using an Arris IPDSL NVG510 Wireless Modem Gateway.  My HP Laptop running Windows 8.1 and the HP LasrJet Pro P1102w Wireless Prnter routinely  & automatically connected to the NVG510 Wireless Network  without any problems over the past two years, and the wireless Printer worked without problems. I recently replaced the AT&T U-verse Internet connection with a 25 Mbs Comcast Xfinity Intrnet connection, using a Motorola Arris SURFboard SBG6782-AC Wireless Cable Modem Gateway.   My HP Laptop running Win 8.1 Pro connects to the Network and accesses the Internet with no problems what-so-ever;  However,  the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w wireless Printer does connect to the Wireless network and I cannot Print at all from my laptop. I have tried all the P1102w Wireless Printer Setup suggestions from the HP Printer Support Site, but to no avail.  I have also updated the Printer Firmware and Loaded the latest Full Product Installation & Driver Software.  I have tried and re-tried these suggestions over the last two days, but with no luck. I would greatly appreciately any help from the  experts  in this Forum.  to get the printer to work wirelessly, since we also  wirelessly print to this printer from  IPads and other wireless laptops.

Hi , I see that you are having issues connecting the printer to the new router. I would like to help you. I would reset the printer first to clear out any previous network settings.
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise. Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IP address are cleared.
Printing a Configuration Page. If the network name has any spaces or special characters, the printer may not recognize it. The printer is only capable of sending/receiving in the 2.4 ghz band. If it is set to 5 GHZ network you may need to change to 2.4 ghz. (rename the 5 ghz or shut it off)
The WPA key setting needs to be on AES to work correctly not TKIP.Multi casting needs to be turned on.
Firewall on router has to have open ports for printer.
If you have Mac Filtering you need to give printer hardware address from Configuration page. You might need to contact your router company for further assistance to check those settings. Try running the Wireless Configuration Wizard from the HP software to configure the printer over the network. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. If you have any issues, please let me know what steps you have taken and the results. Thank You.

  • How to boot from OS X DVD after hard drive upgrade with wireless keyboard

This may be a dumb question. I know that you press "c" key on a MacBook to boot from DVD. But what about a Mac Mini with wireless keyboard? Does the Mini see the keyboard when there is a NEW drive inside?

  • Initial set up with wireless keyboard and mouse!!

My gods, I set up a mac mini with wireless keyboard and mouse. It stead fastly refused to find the brand new apple wireless mouse. I had to plug a wacom in, in the end to get anywhere. Then it would not find the keyboard, again apple wireless. It did find the keyboard but when it started the pairing just came up with no keyboards were found.
I struggled in the end and after around 10 minutes blagged the keyboard, I don't know how it just suddenly worked.
Thinking about this I had the self same problem on a wireless keyboard and mouse for an iMac as well I installed for a friend, it took ages and ages for the computer to discover the two apple devices.
Am I just unlucky or is there voodoo involved? Luckily I am a seasoned apple user so got there in the end, but if I were a switcher and the very first experience of my new mac was it could not find its own mouse, I would not be impressed.

I've been using the Apple wireless mouse and keyboard with my Mac mini for about a year.
I've noticed that whenever the batteries for the two devices are running very low, they may not be recognize by the mini. Other than that, they are fine.

  • Aironet 1310 non-root with wireless clients

I have two 1310s. One set as a root-bridge with wireless clients, another as a non-root bridge with wireless clients. The wireless side of things is working fine, but I'm having trouble when I try to connect a windows work station to the non-root bridge via ethernet. I'm getting an IP address from the router attached to the root bridge via DHCP, and I am able to connect to the configuration page of both 1310 APs, but I'm not getting any internet connectivity. Have I misunderstood what 'non-root bridge with wireless clients' means? If not, is there an obvious problem which might cause the wireless clients to work fine, but interfere with a wired client? Thanks.

    Thanks Seth,
It's good to know that this is how it is supposed to work. The thing that has me scratching my head is that the wireless clients are working fine from this bridge--it is only the client hooked up to the ethernet interface that is not getting out.
I'll take a look at the gateway settings and see what I can find. I appreciate the tip.

  • Boot Error with grub installed...no debug instructions

    * Quick Intro / About *
Hello everybody... im new to linux in general and arch caught my eye since i have an interest in learning programming... i figured arch's documentation was better than that supplied for ubuntu since it's more in depth and has the core utilities needed to get a base system running with in-depth explanations (which i like). trust me when i say, i have read almost all of the arch documentation more than
a few dozen times and have completed this successfully before...
    * My Problem *
I installed my copy of Arch with the Core Utilities package and followed the wiki guides to the tee. i've done several test installations with VMware and Virtualbox OSE and decided to do it for real on my Toshiba Laptop Satellite l305d-s5895... all my hardware is currently supported by the majority of the Linux Distro's (i did my homework). any help would be amazing! i have no idea why at boot the computer searches for a network connection
    instead of the GRUB! >.<
i am able to boot however with the Arch Live Disc and access my filesystem for both Arch and Windows 7
    and resume normal use!

well, just as an update... i believe it is a software issue... i wiped my whole HDD with gparted and set the partitions with Arch Live Core Install medium and GRUB worked perfectly... i created an NTFS partition as well for Win 7... hopefully the Win Installer wont overwrite GRUB and use its own bootloader. i was re-reading an area of the wiki and found...
    - GRUB must be installed on the MBR (first sector of the hard disk), or the first partition of the first storage device to be recognized by most BIOS's.
    source: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gr … stallation
hopefully i can just reinstall GRUB if needed with the Live Disc and i can boot win7 and arch like that...
if an suggestions, or comments, please...would be nice.

  • Huge problems with wireless, would need some help

Sorry for the bad topic, and sorry for my english.
    And now the problem.
I have just bought my first laptop, and got almost everything to play nice in arch, except the wireless.
    My card is a Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (iwl3945), and i have a Dlink 524 router (abg).
Using WAP, but can change this if its help.
Right now I'am using NetworkManager (0.6.5-3 from rep) and KNetworkManager (from AUR), and it works very very bad.
It can't connect at startup (or atleast it doesn't...), it takes several attempts to get a connection, it drops the connection and dont reconnect when it does, and so on. Its almost unusable and force me to use wired a connection just to be sure to be able to write this.
After what i read in different forums and mailinglists, there seems to be a lot of problems with wireless at the moment?
Anyone got this combination to work fine? Or are there any other way of configuration i should try? Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

I've had a lot of problems with wireless networking for several weeks recently, ever since I upgraded vanilla kernel26 from v.2.6.22 to v.2.6.23 (see http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=40145).  I'm using the Windows driver bcmwl5 for the Broadcom 4311 chipset via Ndiswrapper, and I'm using WPA-PSK (TKIP) encryption.  I also use a D-Link DI-524 router.  What finally cured the problem was to install the new wicd (v.1.3.1) network manager which is now in extra and to set up all networking interfaces in that GUI, abandoning using Arch network profiles and all the detailed setup in /etc/rc.conf.
My /etc/rc.conf now only contains (I'm only showing entries pertinent to networking)
    MODULES=(ndiswrapper capability sg acpi-cpufreq cpufreq_ondemand cpufreq_performance cpufreq_powersave)
    HOSTNAME="RFDellLT"
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng @nfslock @nfsd @netfs @crond !network hal cpufreq portmap wicd sshd cups alsa @openntpd privoxy)
i.e. no more INTERFACES, not even "lo", gateway, ROUTES, NET_Profiles.  Everything is set up through wicd.  You only need to put the wicd daemon in the DAEMONS array (after hal which also loads dbus), and the network daemon isn't needed anymore.  Also you should uninstall any other networkmanager.
To put the wicd icon in the system tray, create a shell script (give it any name) in the .kde/Autostart/ directory in your home directory (if you use KDE, otherwise do the equivalent thing for any other DE/WM) that contains the command /usr/lib/wicd/tray.py.
You may want to try wicd, perhaps it'll fix your problem.  It certainly has gotten good press in this forum.

  • HELP PLEASE - HP Laserjet wireless set-up on Mac

Please help me - I can not set-up my HP Laserjet M1217 nfw printer on my wireless network (for wireless printing).  I am fully aware of, BUT can't access the wireless configuration utility via the Embedded Web Server.
I have checked to make sure the wireless radio is turned on.
I have printed out the Test Page/Configuration that shows my printer's IP address.
I have entered the IP address in my web browser but everytime I get "Failed to open page".
The set-up utility with the software is not help at all, it does not have any info about wireless set-up.
What am I doing wrong??  Please help me.  Please.

Even though your wireless radio is turned on, you have to connect to your router with your SSID and password.  Once that is done you should be able to use the EWS.   Has the printer been successfully installed wirelessly?
