Bootloader unlock allowed:NO
Hello guys!I just bought a Sony Xperia Z3 , but unfortunately when I wanted to root it and checked bootloader,it was NO.Sony, please change this,it's not fair, because I paid to get my phone sim free so I want this to the bootloader.C'mon guys, don't tell me you can't(in Spain,Portugal or France you could change the status).By the way,I'm from Romania.I'm waiting for you answers!
That's not up to Sony, contact your network/carrier, they will have to approve this and contact Sony, probably pay them too, so they can replace the motherboard.

Hi, I'm from Costa Rica. My status says No, I know that sony can do it. I have read several posts where you have to send an email and support staff arrives for your phone, but that's in Spain. I've also read that you can pay a 3rd party website. I would like to know what options there are here in CR, or if there are some instructions. my phone does not have simlockHi and welcome to the community! You can find the following information at the developer web page: "If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked."

One of my friend unlocked bootloader in unofficial way.Right now he installing custom Roms at his will and wish.
The most remarkable thing is that PCC and SUS is also detecting is phone model(Neo V).He is downloading official rome by SUS and PCC.
Further after dialing *#*#7378423#*#*...he gets ...... Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes.
How is this possible??
Solved!
Go to Solution. There are some unofficial ways in which DRM files are not lost after unlocking the bootloader.
But unlocking in unofficial ways is not that easy, Moreover you could brick your device permanently if anything goes wrong

Xperia Ray bootloader unlock problem
I am having problems unlocking my bootloader. My Ray tells me "Bootloader Unlock Status Allowed: Yes", but I have encountered some weird problems. When I go through the official Sony method, the command prompt tells me it did not unlock it because it was already unlocked. But when I connect to Emma, it is grayed out and says it's locked. PC Companion still works. When I use Xperia Flashtool to unlock the bootloader I get a message that says it can't be officially unlocked. I couldn't figure out what was up with it so I tried to proceed with installing a ROM, flashed the boot.img with Xperia Flashtool, rebooted and hit volume down over and over to enter CWM, but it doesn't work, just sits at the Sony logo. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on how to proceed? Thanks in advance for any help.

What is point not allowing Bootloader unlocking?
Verizon does this stupidly. Not allowing boot-loader unlocking. The result is, people who really wants to unlock bootloader will do it anyway. And this leads to people developing methods for the same and selling it for pretty good amount of money.
There are many xDA developers they are making exploits for unlocking and are selling in the open market.
So stupid verizon.
Other carries phone, you can either unlock the bootloader easily or officially.
This sux.Hi, You can´t create iTunes apps for free.
You share your folio Free for participants to view in the Adobe Content Viewer. (You can either gather user's emails and share with them directly, or create a few dummy GMail accounts to share with. like [email protected] FolioReviewer2 etc. Then you can provide attendees with the email and password to sign-in to the Adobe Content viewer and download your folio.
Single Editions, by Creative Cloud, is the better option to produce branded app and distribute via Apple app store as free. To distribute out App store
you need to add particular user's devices to your iTunes provision portal. In essence coding your app to run on specific devices. (Not recommended as Apple does not let you remove these from the portal very easily and you are capped to 100 devices in your account).
Important - Single Edition is just Apple, don´t work with Android tablets

Bootloader unlock code request!!!
Hi, I have an used Motorola Droid Razr HD XT926 and I want to request an unlock bootloader code for my off-contract device. I contacted Motorola but they told me that they cannot provide me the code because this is a carrier-locked device. I have no other choice but asking Verizon about this matter.
Thank you. This article should shed some light as to the statement verizon made, and why it was made.
Verizon's response to FCC about bootloaders surprises nobody | Android Central
In short, they don't want to unlock bootloaders because dummies will root their phone, mess it up, and then they want to flood the tech support lines expecting Verizon to fix it. When Verizon would of course say they can't help now, and the warranty is void, then people will sing a different tune, something like "Well, it's your fault for allowing the bootloader to be unlocked." -
Hi!
As we know a lot of android based phones and tablets have the possibility to unlock the bootloader and install custom roms, etc.
Will the Sony Tablet S have this possibility?
Thanks for the answer.

Xperia Z2 Unlock Bootloader Allowed No
I'll just get right to it. When I enter the service menu, it tells me that: unlock bootloader allowed: no. I cannot unlock my bootloader. Now, nobody seems to know of any solutions to this problem. I know it is the carriers that are at fault, but I just want to know if it is *possible* to unlock my bootloader. If not, I will have to return this device for one that is more developer friendly. I love the phone, but can't use it without an unlocked bootloader. Sony needs to fix this.
I sent this email to Sony developer world a few weeks ago, and they haven't responded.
Hi there,
I'll cut right to the chase. When I enter the service menu on my Xperia Z2, I discover they rooting status is set to "bootloader unlock allowed: no". This means that I am blocked by Sony from unlocking the bootloader on the phone that *I* own.
Don't tell me it's the carrier's fault (Bell BTW), because I know that you have the tools to change this setting, no matter how complicated the process may be.
I know that this has been done before, as evidenced by this Talk Sony thread a while ago:http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/Bootloader-unlock-allowed-No-SONY-solve-it-please/...
Why is this possible to do for one carrier but not another? This is ridiculous. Why shouldn't I be able to do whatever I want with the device that I paid for? The phone is SIM unlocked and everything.
When Sony no longer supports firmware updates for my Z2, then what can I do? I will be unable to flash any custom roms and will be stuck on whatever version of Android you decide to leave me with! This is a huge security risk number 1, and number 2 it's just a huge inconvenience. -
Unable to unlock bootloader.
I have an Xperia tablet Z, I've checked the service menu and confirmed that the bootloader unlock allowed value is "Yes".
I've requested and received the unlock key, and following the instructions on http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions.
I've prepared my computer for the process, and can confirm that the device connects to fastboot without issue.
Upon using the fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, I receive the following error:
FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed)
finished. total time: 0.035s
What do?Before you unlocked the bootloader, you are aware that you will void your warranty and there are other issues, an example, the Xperia Z1 if you unlock the bootloader the camera wont work at all

How to root 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.587 & 4.1.B.0.431)
We cannot root 4.1.B.0.587 directly, so to root it we first flash 4.1.A.0.562 kernel, run the rooting toolkit and in the end flash 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
Few devices don't have their own 4.1.A.0.562 kernel, so we need to flash the 4.1.A.0.562 kernel of other devices just to root. However all devices have 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
Follow all the steps.
Go to settings > Security > Mark "Unknown sources"
Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging
Settings > Xperia > connectivity > USB connection mode > select MSC mode
Download Flashtool
Windows Users > Flashtool
Linux Users > Flashtool ( From previous release tab, download 0.9.0.0 version)
After installing flashtool, reboot your PC.
1 ) Download the respective 4.1.A.0.562 kernel to flash
Arc and Arc S - Kernel
Ray - Kernel
Neo/Neo V - Kernel
LwW, Mini - Kernel
Active - Kernel
Neo L - Kernel
All other users - Kernel or even try the kernels for Arc S and Ray
2) Go to C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > delete everything present and put the downloaded kernel
3) Run Flashtool > click on the flashing icon ( left side below "file" option)
Select flashmode > ok
Setup should be like this > select OK
Flashtool Setup Screenshot
Follow the steps, connect your mobile and flash. Note: on devices with touch navigation keys, hold volume down key instead of back button while connecting your device.
Flashtool may show error after flashing kernel, no worries. Even your build number and android version won't change. Everything would remain same so please don't visit phone's settings to check anything
4) After flashing restart your device, It may not start completely, may remain at Sony logo or with blank/black screen.
Whatever the status is, just restart your device and proceed with the rooting >
Download Rooitng toolkit > 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 and extract it.
( Make sure you close flashtool before running the rooting toolkit )
Now connect your mobile to PC ( Mobile should be ON) and wait for 2 minutes. Then run the rooting toolkit. When it says all done, close it. disconnect your phone and switch it off ( By pressing power button/ or by taking out the battery and reinserting it).
5) Download Kerenls, If you are on 4.1.b.0.431 rom then download the respective kernel, same goes for 4.1.B.0.587
For Neo L > Download the kernel version on which your phone is running 4.1.B.0.626 or 4.1.B.0.631
Xperia

Xperia Ray after ICS 4.0.3
Hi!
Yesterday I connected my RAY to PC companion for some backup, and notice that the new Android version 4.0.3. was available.
I was expecting it, since we always like to have the latest features on our phones, so I did the update to the new version.
The update went ok! No issues during the process.
Few hour past since the update process and I already went from a great feeling of having a "new" RAY to the terrible feeling of wishing not to made the update. I believe that this is the worst feeling that a costumer can feel about having a new release for its great phone.
My RAY went from a great tool to a malfunction piece of high end technology.
So I would like to share here, some of the "after ICS" issues I'm experiencing:
1 - RING TONE VOLUME CONTROL:
The ring tone volume control is now terrible. I'm not able to really low the volume. The volume goes lower from the top to the mute state, but the high is really high and the low is like middle in the previous 2.3. The level after mute, that should be lower and discreet is now very audible in a moderate noisy place, so I'm just using mute + vibe. Is its really bad. I test it with Audio Manager Pro, and different sound as ring tone, but I did not get any positive result. The volume control behaviour is OK for media and alerts sounds.
2 - WIFI:
Wifi is now a feature that i can't get it to work. All my previous stored Wifi hotspots are now dead, even after edit each one.
I try to store the same hotspots from a fresh search and I still can't get them to work. All the Wifi spots I have stored are working perfectly and no setting was changed, so the issue I'm getting is from the RAY.
3- GALLERY (now XPERIA GALERIA):
The gallery crashes very often, mostly on landscape position and during swipe trough photos. After the update, I can only see 4 to 6 photos of each album before it crashes and returns to gallery root folder or phone main menu.
4 - MULTIMEDIA shortcuts widget:
There is a problem with the MULTIMEDIA shortcuts widget, since it almost doubled the space it takes on the screen. Actually the visual size of this widget is just fine, the problem is the area around it that is oversized.
5 - THE PHONE:
Making or answering a call is now a trouble... and this is the major purpose of this equipment...
The phone freezes very often while receiving a call and takes too long (sometimes more than 10 second) to open the phone feature. Sometimes it crashes while trying to open the phone feature and there's is the need to take battery out (since yesterday... happen twice).
6- OVERALL
The new android version for this model is pretty, but there are several issues to be solved. Along with the ones I believe are really serious, I'm experiencing a great decrease in phone performance. Screen animations between pages and menus are now almost imperceptible and the ones that still exist are not fluid (jumps, like a low frame rate on a video footage), moving from a page to another is now slower and jumpy and feels like I own a first generation Android phone with low tech capabilities. Scrolling is now different too. It is slower, and the acceleration is not so great like in previous 2.3
7- MEMORY
The available RAM is now lower than when I had 2.3... and i did not have more apps working... at least I did not start them. So he new 4.0 must gave some more processes running, I believe.
8 - SCREEN FLASHES RED AND GREEN (added on April 27)
RecentlyI found another "not so bad, but annoying issue".
Sometimes, the screen flashes fully red or green for a second, during:
Menus swipes, camera access, skype camera change (from rear to front and vice versa), when Draw something app loads, and browser opens...
So, here is my "less than 24hours" Xperia"ence" with the ICS for RAY... Not happy with it and looking forward to see it solved, or to roll it back to 2.3.
If there is no visible solution for this and many other issues, this will probably be my last SE phone, from a long and solid history with this brand.
Kind regards and best wishes to everyone.
Bruno
Message was edited by: ZamzibarHi ply17410,
Thank you very much for your contribution!
The RAY I own is the ST18i purchased as a standalone mobile, no carrier dependant.
I'm using a portuguese Vodafone SIM card and these are my RAY's unit versions:
Phone software version: 1248-9545_4.1.A.0.562,
Boot version: 1241-3656 R9A028,
Customization version: 1252-0929_R20D
File system version: WORLD-i_4.1.A.0.562
No SIM lock applied, and bootloader unlock allowed.
The wifi issue is getting worst, right now I can only access web via 3G data connection.
Bluetooth works fine for audio and data transfer.
Today I found another "not so bad, but annoying issue".
Sometimes, my screen flashes fully red or green for a second, during:
Menus swipes, camera access, skype camera change (from rear to front and vice versa), when Draw something app loads, and browser opens...
Kind regards,
