Bootmgr is missing message after stopping recovery disk

I have an HP G72 series laptop with Windows 7. I took the laptop in for service and was told the hard drive was bad. They replaced the hard drive and gave me the information to order the recovery disk from HP. I put in disk 1 and it started out OK. It got to the second check mark at around 33% complete and stated 0 minutes remaining on the time. It sat there and did not move for hours. It kept making beeping noises.I got an error something about E ....... not finding C..... (or something i don't remember now). It had only one button to choice and it was OK to retry. I did that 3 times.  I tried to do the next button and cancel button but system wouldn't do anything. The disk would not even eject out of laptop. I had to do a hard shut down by pressing the on/off key. When i turned it back on I am now getting BOOTMGR is missing, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I did that and it is just a continous loop. I have read other articles about doing all the F keys and none of them work. When I turn it back on and hold down the keys nothing happens and the BOOTMGR message comes back up. I tried putting in the disk 1 again and it doesn't do anything either. PLEASE HELP!! Is there an error in the service centers installation of the hard drive? What else can I try?

Hi
1) Start you system keep tapping F10 or F2 this will take to Bios page or F2 diagnosis page there you will find HDD test check if HDD is getting detected.
2) If not detected please reseat the HDD then check if you have the same issue then you need to replace the MB as HDD controller is bad.
3) If HDD test detected and test passed reseat the HDD once again and then try to reinstall OS back using Recovery disc still does not work order for a set of RCD again.
As per my knowledge this is best solution provided.

  • Bootmgr missining after using recovery disks

I bought my laptop a dv7-4278nr a few months back, it was a month old when I got it. The day after I got it, the hard drive failed, so I was sent a new one, with the recovery disks. Once I go through recovery, and I put the 4th disk, the application and driver recovery DvD it takes like 1 minute, before it pops out. Then shuts off computer even though it says it will restart. I turn it bac on click finish, and restarts. It does boot mgr is missing. I downloaded a Windows 7 copy and made an iso of it, but when I go to download drivers on the hp website, most of the programs don't wor at all. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Create a Windows 7 Recovery CD. Download the ISO  below.
    Windows 7 64bit
Use an app such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to cd is Here. Once created, boot from it.
    Select the Repair option.
Select "Command Prompt" and type in the following command.
    Bootrec.exe /REBUILDBCD
If the command is successful, close the Command Prompt window.
Click “Startup Repair” to perform Windows Startup Repair. After doing these computer will reboot automatically.

  • Missing partitions after running Recovery from previous System Image Backup in Windows 8.1

After running Recovery from a recent Sytem Image Backup the LRS_ESP partition is now missing and the Used space on the  PBR_DRV partition is reported as 95.20MB while it previously reported 9.52GB in use. The WINRE_DRV, SYSTEM_DRV, Windows8_OS and D:LENOVO partions appear to be OK.
I ran the Recover after replacing the original 500GB HDD with a 1TB. Any details/links/recommendations on recreating/correcting the LRS_ESP and PBR_DRV partitions? Thanks!

  • Boot Camp will not work after installing recovery disk

I purchased a refurbished Macbook Pro 2012. I went ahead and installed dual ssds and used the Mac OS X recovery disk from USB flash drive. I wanted to install WIndows 7 through bootcamp. Bootcamp will not start after selecting continue. I'm not sure if boot camp is corrupted or something I did wrong.

Well you'll need to see if that remote app has an update or if it is compatible with IOS 7.
since you didn't state which remote app your using.

  • Recover files after run recovery disk

Hi, i have an a305-s6898 with Xp.
I carry the NB to service and there they run the Recovery Disk (that crash, delete, erase, all my XP system, files, mails, disk partitions, etc)
Does any have an idea if a could recover some files?  (mi xp configuration, partitions, files, something?)
Does any have an idea if i should (must or could) call to toshiba center and tell him, that his service center at argentnina sucks!?
    Thanks.

The only chance you have of getting anything back is by sending the drive to one of the drive recovery specialist companies and have them see if they can retreive them.  There is no guarantee that they will be able to do so and the cost would begin around $1000.00 and go up from there. Unless you have some priceless documents or photos that can't be replaced you might as well just move on.

  • Macbook Pro shutsdown after accessing Recovery disk

I have a Macbook pro that shuts down right after I access the Recovery mode disk. This happened after my Mac partition stopped working. My Windows partition (bootcamp) still works with less functionality.

If your computer came with disks, try booting off Disk 1,  and then go to Disk Utility and Repair Disk and Repair Permissions.
You can also try booting into Internet Recovery (command - option - R during a restart) and run Disk Utility there.
    Reboot and test.

  • Missing messages after upgrading from Panther to Tiger

I have just upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.11 and find that the new Mail app has imported all my old messages from one account in full but has only imported a small selection of the latest emails in my other two accounts and these have no text in them. In the Mail folder in the Library I can see two files called mbox which are of the right size (about 350mB each) to hold the missing messagesl but they cannot be read. The Inbox for the account which is working also contains a folder called Messages containing separate files for each email with the suffix .emlx
How can I get my other two accounts to be the same? I have tried 'Import' from OS X Mail app. but this says it cannot see any files to import.
    Edward Mason

The conversion from Mail 1.x to Mail 2.x is broken. Mail 2.x is often simply unable to import mailboxes that worked fine in Mail 1.x. Apple hasn’t bothered to fix the incredibly weak Mail 2.x import capabilities in all this time.
The following procedure is meant to fix the incomplete conversion of a POP account’s Inbox. A similar procedure should allow you to fix other mailboxes that might also be affected:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to fix the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Create a new folder on the Desktop and name it however you wish (e.g. Inbox Old). It doesn’t need to have an .mbox extension.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/.
    5. Move the files mbox and Incoming_Mail out of INBOX.mbox, into the Inbox Old folder just created on the Desktop. These files contain all the messages that were in the mailbox before the upgrade to Tiger, and maybe even some messages that had been deleted. mbox is the most important. Incoming_Mail may or may not be present.
    6. Move any strangely-named Messages-T0x... folders to the Desktop (not into the Inbox Old folder). These folders are to be deleted after fixing the problem. They are temporary folders created during an import or an indexing process, and Mail should have deleted them when done. Their presence is a clear indication that something didn’t work as expected. If you’ve been using Mail after the conversion and have already tried to fix the problem by rebuilding the mailbox or something like that, they might contain messages that are neither in Messages proper nor in the mbox file, so keep them around until the problem is fixed.
    7. Move everything else within INBOX.mbox, except the Messages folder, to the Trash.
The result of the above should be that INBOX.mbox contains the proper Messages folder only, and the Inbox Old folder on the Desktop contains the mbox and Incoming_Mail (if it exists) files only. Now, proceed as follows:
    8. Open Mail.
    9. The account’s Inbox should properly display in Mail as many messages as *.emlx files are in ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/Messages/. If that’s not the case, select the mailbox in Mail and do Mailbox > Rebuild.
    10. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Other as the data format, and follow the instructions to import the Inbox Old folder that’s on the Desktop.
As a result of doing the above, some messages may be duplicated now. Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts has a Remove Duplicates script that you may find useful.
Do with the imported mail whatever you wish. You may move the messages anywhere you want and get rid of the imported mailboxes afterwards.
If all is well and you don’t miss anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Take a look at the following article to learn what you might have done before upgrading to minimize the risk of this happening, and what you may do after fixing the problem to avoid similar issues from happening in the future. DON’T do now what the article suggests, though, as that would make things worse in the current situation:
    Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty
Ask for any clarifications or if you need further assistance.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Missing files after System Recovery, HP Pavillion G62, Windows 7, 64 bit.

    My 5 month old laptop is showing signs of slowing down. When this occurs I do a system recovery in an effort to correct any problems. After completion of system recovery I always get the following error;
(the system cannot find the file specified (Ox80070002))
                               C:\users\owner\applicationdata\locallow.
                               C:\users\owner\contacts.
                               C:\users\owner\searches.
The notice is in Notepad. None of the files can be found with a search from the main menu. If no refererence to the files can be found how does the computer know they exist? My feeling is that the computer cannot operate up to speed with missing files?
I do have some other oddities occuring but I don't think you can solve anything if files are missing.

Those are user file locations and will not affect windows or how it runs, you can ignore that error.

  • Product Name: HP Pavilion g6-2006tx Notebook PC... Require a recovery disk for Windows 7 Home Basic

    Sir,
The recovery disk that was prepared for my Laptop has been corrupted and is not functioning. The laptop shows an error message as 'BOOTMGR.EXE is missing'. Whenever I use the disk, it starts off well but it stops after 13% of the installation is done. There is no recovery partition in my laptop as it was deleted after the recovery disk was burned.
All this started when I wished to format my Laptop and reinstall the operating system.
I donot wish to install any operating system other than my original supported WINDOWS 7 HOME BASIC. So, if you could send me a recovery disk of the same, it will be very helpful. Any other details required shall be provided.
Your hasty attitude in this matter would be highly appreciated.

  • Dv7 bootmgr is missing error

I have an HP Pavilion dv7  with Windows 7 (64-bit) that is about a year and a half old. I recently started getting an error message after start-up that stated a hard drive failure was imminent. I called HP and they told me to replace the hard drive. I ordered the hard drive and recovery discs from HP.
After installing the hard drive and installing the recovery discs I get an error message that says BOOTMGR is missing. I have talked to HP customer support and all they tell me is to try re-installing the discs. I have done so several time and still get the BOOTMGR is missing message. Help?

    Hi:
You can try this workaround if you want.
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn as ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • X120e - Automatic win7 startup under Administrator after system recovery to new SSD

    Hello,
I recently bought my x120e with 64bit win7 home premium. I also bought an SSD (agility 2). After using recovery disks to 'restore' a 'factory install' to the new ssd, win7 works fine generally. Only problem is the win7 login and user account controls.
First of all, it is not a factory restore. there was no lenovo software on board to speak of. It did not act like a 1st time run of win7 either, where one is usually prompted to create a user account and password. I'm instead logged in as Administrator automatically with no password. To force the login/password at startup, I assigned a password to the administrator account, then created new accounts for my wife and I with administrator privileges and passwords. On restart, I get a message that the password is invalid. Win7 is still autologging in under Administrator, but now it stops because whatever it thinks the password is, is wrong because I changed it.  If I say 'switch user' to use one of the newly created accounts, they are not visible at all on the logon screen. Just 'Administrator' and a blank user, no pic, no name.
So....: Firstly, how do I stop win7 from trying to log on automatically?  (and why is it doing this?)   Secondly, why are my new user accounts not visible at startup, but visible in user account settings within windows?
I'm using recovery media mailed to me by Lenovo today because the recovery partition that came with the machine was not working on arrival. Its nice in principal, but it if never works the way it should...
    Thanks

    Hi,
I recommend you to remove the HDD to check if you can startup Windows 7 from SSD.
If you cannot, please attempt to repair startup using Bootrec.exe command.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392
If you can startup correctly, please check boot sequence of disks from bios and make sure SSD is the first boot sequence.

  • Firmware boot USB receiving "Bootmgr is missing"

Hi folks!  I'm running a msi windpad 110w-014us and trying to update the firmware to NOE1KUS1.302.  I have created the USB just as instructed in the "How to build a bootable USB disk and update the EPF firmware" PDF and my Flash drive looks just as pictured in the instructions.  However, whenever I try to boot from it I receive a "Bootmgr is missing" message.   Any thoughts on this?  Thanks!

I found the issue.  I was using too large of a flash drive (4GB).  I switched to an old 1GB flash drive and it worked.
