Bootpd: server starting every five minutes

This is more an annoyance than anything else, everything seems to work fine.  But my logs under the "DHCP" service say that bootpd is starting every five minutes or so.  Below is a clip.  Any info/advice appreciated.

This is normal functionality for bootpd. Nothing to worry about.

  • Firefox freezes every five minutes, "not responding" for about a full minute at a time then resumes, only to do it again five minutes later

It's just random, about every five minutes everything just freezes. It's not my computer, just the browser. I get the (not responding) in the upper left corner of the browser. I have to keep waiting about a full minute for the browser to resume. This only started happening after I downloaded Firefox 7

Did you give it a try to be sure that that isn't at least part of the problem?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Running labview program every five minutes

I am very inexperienced with Labview, but I am attempting to build a program.  This program is to get measurements of frequency (can be used to determine strain) and resistance (can be used to measure temperature).  I got the program to work when I push a button on the front panel to start the process and then process data when I push another button.  I need to get this process to be automated because it needs to run for a long time.  I want to take measurements (frequency and temperature) every five minutes. Also, I need to have some delay (maybe 10 sec) before the data is processed because it take time for the data to be received.  Any help is appreciated. I attached the .vi Thanks!

That is the understatement of the year!    Hidden wires everywhere.  I would love to see the tracing with highlite execution on.  SampleCount is a race condition just waiting to happen.
To the OP:  Please think of us poor volunteers that have to waddle through this mess to try to help you.  We can't decipher code that has hidden wires, right to left wires, structures put on top of controls/indicators.  Please try to clean things up before posting.  In your case, a total re-write using a state machine is very appropriate.

  • Printer is aligning cartridges every five minutes!!!

Help - I have HP309g printer and it's decided to start aligning the printer cartridges every five minutes!  I let it run through one cycle in the hope that would cure it, but it just indicated 'printer alignment failed' and tried to do it again on the next document.   I'm in the middle of a rush job and haven't the time for this - does anyone know how to cure this at least until I get through the stack of very expensive cartridges I 've just bought for this machine - at which point I'm taking it for a trip to the recycling centre!

I purchased a HP photosmart Premium, C310a in Dec.2010. The Black cartridge went empty and I purchased a HP564XL.  The Alignment check Failed. This test will not pass. I have followed the procedure over and over.  No good.  Help!

  • HT201210 My iPhone 4s kept re-starting every few minutes.

My iPhone 4s kept re-starting every few minutes which made it virtually impossible to use. I had looked online for various solutions to solve this problem that I am having. I have manually turned the phone on and off multiple times but had no luck there. I then tried to restore the iPhone, only, during restoration, the iPhone would re-start itself, cancelling the restoration. I cannot use my phone at all now as when I try to turn it on, or plug it into my laptop or charger, the picture on the screen is telling me that I need to connect it to iTunes. Is there anything else that I am able to do to help my phone, or do I have no choice but to go to the Apple Store?

Try putting one of those movies onto your macbooks' drive and stream it and see if you have the same lag.
It's probably not being pulled from that external drive fast enough causing the lag.
I know you can watch it off your macbook fine, but you're pulling it onto the laptop, then pushing it out to the router and data transfer is always slower the more 'stuff' you give it to pass through.
For example, I can pull stuff off a harddrive at a gig a minute....but if i pull it off one and write it directly to another (using the computer as the go between) i get about 75% speed.....something that should take an hour can take almost an hour and a half.
So try streaming directly off your macbook and see if you stutter.

  • I-tunes is starting every 10 minutes

since yesterday i-tunes is starting every 10 minutes, shutting it down helps for 10 minutes, then it starts right up again. I find it very annoying since I use i-tunes once a week normally.

I guess this happened after you have updated to iOS 5. That's because you have choosen to wifi sync with your device (iPhone, iPad or iPod touch) and that you have also selected to OPEN iTunes when your device is connected. You can still leave the wifi sync on but uncheck the open iTunes when connected to the device.
To do this, you must connect your device to iTunes (wifi or cable), then once it is connected under the summary page of your device, look at Options and uncheck the Open iTunes when this device is connected.
    Hope this helps!

  • Is there any mac/iOS app or feature I can use to alert me every five minutes?

I need an app or a feature on Mac, iPhone, or iPad that will send me a push notification or some kind of alert every five minutes.
I would rather not set up a million calendar alerts or alarms, as I will have to be using this a lot.
It will need to run in the background, especially if it's an ios app.
I would rather not use an iOS app that makes noise but doesn't send a push notification.
An iOS app is preferred, but anything works.
System alternatives will be accepted as well.
And no, I cannot simply ask Siri to do it, as I have tried in the past, and she says she can't do alerts that frequent.
    Thank you for the help!

You could do this using AppleScript on your Mac.
See: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3718520/how-do-i-write-applescript-that-will- give-me-an-hourly-popup-alert for the basic code to do the repeating alert.
Combine it with this for a Notification: http://macosxautomation.com/mavericks/notifications/01.html
    Quite simple really...

  • Flash Cs6 spinning wheel every five minutes or so? Not auto-save

Why does Flash Cs6 give me a spinning wheel about every five minutes?
It is strange because the spinning wheel causes Flash to be 'not responding' for about 15 seconds, but then the wheel goes away and it is fine. For a while I thought this was the auto-save, but then I changed the auto-recovery period under preferences to every 15 minutes- and I still keep getting this spinning wheel every 5 minutes.
Or could there be another location that I need to change auto-save, aside from the general tab of preferences?
Thanks very much for any help,
    Jeff

hi katie - I found that the spinning ball pause comes from 3 things:
    1) having "Auto-Recovery" on in Flash preferences. It's found under "General," near the bottom.
    2) having "Auto-Save" on in the individual document's composition settings.
    3) the more complex the file's contents, the more noticeable and long this auto-save or auto-recovery becomes, sometimes turning into a significant pause in the work flow.
I've found that Flash CS6 isn't too stable and crashes  often enough to be a problem, so I've given up and left these save functions on. I'm up-to-date with my updates, and it's still a crashy-software.

Reset - your iPhone - hold down Home and Power until the iPhone shuts off
Retry - Use a different USB port
Restart - your computer. And make sure you have all the latest updates (use Microsoft Update in Windows or Software Update in Mac)
Reinstall - Check for any kind of software update which make fix a bug in your iPhone

  • Unnerving sound every five minutes

My new MacBook Air with Lion gives a little jingle every five minutes. What does that mean and how can I switch it off?

I apologize, a thorough investigation together with my son revealed that the source of that sound was not the MacBook, but the mobile phone of my wife...
I am sorry, but even with the good hearing of my son it took several measurements to locate the source.

  • HI,Why every five minutes, the server - side NetStream.publish failure

RTMP spread to the FMS, and then create netGroup and NetStream objects on the server side, then the NetStream.publish (), the beginning of everything is normal, but after five minutes, very strange happens to be five minutes, the client node receives less thanstream had, and I monitor the status of this server-side NetStream no change is to publish the start, why the five minutes it will automatically stop publishing flow RTMP stream has been no problem in the transmission

i assume, from your post, that you are using FMS and are publishing a multicast stream.
if you are using the "Flash Media Development Server", prior to release 4.5, multicast streams time out after about 10 minutes.  as of release 4.5, multicast streams time out after about 30 minutes.  to see this and other limits of the Development Server, see:
       http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/helpmechoose.html
if that is not the problem, then if you are writing your own server-side scripts, perhaps you are not anchoring a NetStream, Stream, or NetConnection object properly and it is being destroyed by the garbage collector.
if you need more help with Flash Media Server, you should direct your questions to the Flash Media Server forums. the Codename Cirrus service is not based on FMS.

  • Needing to Renew DHCP Lease every five minutes to stay online

I experienced ALL the networking and DNS problems since my Leopard install, but adding OpenDNS servers to my router cured the problem. For two months, anyway. Now, in the last week, I've got problems again, and now the only thing that cures the suddenly dead network connection is to simply Renew DHCP Lease. Instantly my connection works again. But I'm needing to do this LITERALLY every five or ten minutes. Once I do this, it returns me the same IP address (as my router is set to do so), and all works again. Monitoring outbound network activity, I can see continuous failed requests to resolver1.openDNS.com and resolver2.openDNS.com. Barring waiting until 10.5.2, which we all hope resolves these problems (hur hur), any ideas?

I have had wireless problems intermittently for a year, and seriously for 6 weeks. Apple denied the issue and was no help in spite of many tens of thousands of people on their own discussions complaining. I found a post suggesting a couple of things which fixed the problem. I don't know if both are necessary, but the first by itself does not solve the problem.
Lock the channel of your router to channel 1, apparently Apple and 802.11n don't play well together on higher channels. When this becomes a standard this will be resolved I hope.
Open your network preferences, select 'airport' and advanced. Delete unused networks. Select your network.
Open TCP/IP and write down all the settings, configure iPv4 manually. Enter the settings manually. Turn off IpV6.
Open DNS and write down your DNS server. Delete it and re-enter it manually.
This has worked on 2 macbooks and an iMac for the last 3 weeks with no network drops.
