Border around layers

I am trying to set up a simple site with layers having used
tables in the past. When I draw my layers in the layout mode and
then add color, I get a white border (well actually the background
color) around each layer table. In other words I cannot blend/join
one layer seamlessly with another. Perhaps I would be better off
with tables but I thought I would give layers a go. Is there any
way around this?
thanks.
PS I am not very experienced so I would appreciate a novice
reply if possible.

1. Building a page with layers is a very bad idea, and is in
no way a
replacement for building that page with tables. To replace
tables, you would
need to understand how to use CSS, which is ever so much more
than just
putting things into layers.
2. To answer a question like this, we would need to see your
code. Can you
post a link to the page that you have uploaded, please?

You would need an image editor to edit the images and add a border to the image first before importing them into Final Cut.

  • White Border Around Template Images

I recently created a "page layout" document from a template. This is my first attempt to use a template and it was all going well. Until I hit "print." When I print the document, the images that were already part of the template are printing with a white border around them. It looks fine in Pages and when I go to Print Preview, but it comes off the printer looking funny. What's the deal?

Thanks for the clarification. I had a hard time selecting that white border around the photos. I couldn't even figure out what it was for awhile. I think the printing problem is related to that white border which is an image, photoBG_triple.png, that is behind the photos & their masks & on top of the lined paper image, notepaper.png. I think all that layering looks nice on screen or PDF, but could be a printing nightmare. How does it look funny? And what kind of printer are you using?

  • In pages/Pixelmator how do you put a white border around a piece of font, to make it stand out more. Please Help

The Benchwarmers logo, I would like to have a white border around the font to make it stand out. Help please

You would be better served to take a closer look at BeLight's free Art Text 2 Lite, or on YouTube, search for "Pixelmator text effects," or review the several Pixelmator tutorials on their site. Pages does not support the layered text effects necessary to create the Benchwarmers logo, but certainly can incorporate this image once completed through external means.  Is the following image the one you have in mind:

  • How to to print an .indd document with a border around the edge?

I have an Indesign document that I want to print with a slight border around the edge.
I print this after exporting it as a PDF.  But when I choose the various combinations of 'print printer's marks' in the export settings, none of them seem to work.
I want just a simple thin border line around the edge of the document to print.  I don't want the interior body to print (which it sometimes does).
I know this can be done, because on some of my .indd documents it works... but I can't figure out what I did to get it to print that way.
    HELP!
    and thanks....
    jn

Thanks... the visible guides setting change took away the purple interior rectangle.
But it still doesn't print the border outline.
Here in text form is a summary of the .indd file settings that does print a border correctly, as I like it to.
The relevant paragraph under Marks and Bleed has crop marks off... and document bleed settings on.
I wonder what I'm missing?  Sometimes I wished Adobe just used plain english... like 'print border outline of document'!
    Thanks!

How can I insert a colored border around a picture in an photo book?

To do that you'll need a 3rd party editor like one of these:
Some Image Editors that support layers:
    Photoshop Elements 10 for Mac - $79
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60

  • Border around a bitmap

I'm sure its very simple but I'm looking to add a border to a rounded square.
The issue is the shape is a bitmap.  I have created a bitmap to make the image have rounded corners, but I can't work out how to have the border around the image.
Suggesstions in simple terms would be most appreciated!

    A few ideas:
For a very simple border, use Photoshop Live Effects and choose the Stroke option. (Photoshop Live Effects can be found at the bottom of the Filters/Effects list in the Properties Inspector, once the bitmap is selected.)
Another simple border could be created using a Glow effect. Set Softness to 0. (Like the Photoshop Live Effect, this can be applied from the Properties Inspector, once the bitmap is selected. Look under 'Shadow and Glow 'within the Filters/Effects list.)
For more control over stroke style, create a rectangle to match the contour of your bitmap. Set the fill to None. You can use the Properties Inspector to help match the width and height of the rectangle to that of the bitmap, and use the Roundness slider to adjust the rectangle's corners.
As a variation on the above idea, you could use a vector to mask the bitmap—this would be a particularly good approach if your bitmap did not already have rounded corners. Create a rounded rectangle as described above, setting the fill to either None or white. Then select both the rectangle and the bitmap together and choose Modify > Mask > Group As Mask. Once the mask is applied, select its thumbnail in the Layers panel, and you'll be able to adjust its appearance in the Properties Inspector. You'd want to choose "Path Outline" and "Show Fill and Stroke" in order to have the desired stroke appear.

  • Border around photo

How do you put a simple 1 pt. border around a picture or graphic in Photoshop Elements 10?

    Cyndy,
After you have finished editing, place a blank layer at the top of the stack of layers in the layers palette
    Go to Select>all
Then, go to Edit>Stroke(outline) selection. In the dialog enter the width for the stroke, the color, position it inside.

  • How do I put a property line border around ariel photo of a property?

I'm trying to put a red border around a property in an black and white ariel photo. I can do it with the pencil tool but I want to do it point to point for straight lines?

    Butch, I agree with you.
I prefer to utilize the line tool because it facilitates color selection for the outline, which Hank needs, and also there is a style selection option. In addition, as one uses the tool incremental layers are generated. If needed, one can then make adjustments with the move tool, or delete a layer and replace it with a correction.
Both get the job done - personal preference.

  • How do I print multiple (4) photos on one page with a border around each?

How do I print multiple photos on one page with a border around each? I've gone the contact sheet route and adjusted the number of columns but there's only outer margins and very little white space between the photos down the middle of the page.

    Ok, now I feel stupid! I always thought I was printing 6 x 4 but now I realise I can't have done!!
The photos that I used to print are approx. 5.2" x 4" (i.e. 4 fitted nicely on a page & I had to cut the boarder off).
I guess I just need to play with different sizes under the 'custom' option in order to get the biggest possible picture!
    Thanks for the help

  • How can I create a white border around figures that are in an image? (CS 6; examples+image included)

    Hi,
I have CS6 and am wondering how to create a white ("comic style"?) border around figures in an image, as in the examples below. I don't wish to include the black shadow of the border, just the white part.
    Examples:
Here's the image I'd like to alter, making a white border around the outline of all five figures:
I researched for quite a while but could find no instructions. It would be very much appreciated if someone knows and would be kind enough to share the technique! Thank you.

If you make the image a layer (opposed to Background)...
You could Select the blue with the Magic Wand as Semaphoric says, then fill with white.  Then choose Select - Modify Selection - Contract, and mask or delete the remaining pixels.  The Contract operation will give you a nice border the size you choose.
For extra credit, you could use Refine Edge to make the selection more accurate.
Click to see the image  against a dark background.

  • When I have a border around a group of cellsand remove it, it also removes the grid lines. When I go to print the sheet, there are blank spaces where the border had been. I'm sing a MacBook.

When I have  a border around a group of cell, how do I remove it. If I outline the cells again and then show in the Inspector NO BORDER, it removes not only the borderbut when I go to print it also the grid lines.

What application are you using? Numbers? Excel? Something else?
For help with Numbers spreadsheets go to this forum.
If you are using Excel, Microsoft has a forum to help you.
If it is something else, let us know what and we will try to point you in the right direction.

  • How can I print with black border around edge of image?

I'd like to add a black border around the edge of certain images I'm printing. I know it's fairly trivial in Lightroom, but I can't see where this option is in Aperture. Is this lacking in Aperture, or am I just missing it? Many thanks.
PS -- I'm aware there are some plug-ins that claim to do this, so if Aperture can't do this, please feel free to chime in with comments on the best plug-in for this task.

Thanks, Rich. That's a good plug-in, and does cover what I need (with lots of other features, too). The problem, though, is it requires an export of the image, which I then have to either print from another application, or reimport to Aperture to print. I was hoping to find something that will either just apply the border to the print job, or that would serve as more of an Edit With . . . type of plug-in than an Export plug-in, so I can keep everything in one place. Thanks again.

  • How to get rid of the black border around the artboard

Hopefully my last question for tonight.
I need to get rid of the black border around the artboard. The two images show my drawing lined up with the art board and then inside the artboard. The dark gray is not the artboard.
As you see, the artboard has a black border. I need to get rid of it. It shows up in my project when my color key is green. The black won't go to transparent.
So how-to get rid of the border? Thanks
    ***Update***
I figured it out. View > Hide Artboards. Maybe this will help someone. Doesn't change the fact my spider looks like a tick:)

  • How to add a Border around an ImageView

    Hi all,
I'm adding a row of photos in my application which are being resized to fit into some constrained space with Preserve Ratio true. They are put in a TilePane, with a Label below each photo.
Basically, I give all my ImageViews a fitHeight of 120 pixels, and let them determine how wide they will become themselves in order to preserve the ratio.
    It looks great.
However, I would like to add a Border around these images, as they sometimes fade too much into the background to clearly see the edges. ImageViews themselves donot support borders, so I'm forced to wrap these ImageViews inside another container.... but, no matter what container I use, the container itself refuses to resize itself to fit exactly around the image -- it seems to be completely oblivious of the real size of the Image -- with some parameters the ImageView will simply render itself outside the edges of its container, and with other parameters the container is wider than the ImageView leaving a gap on the right side.
This is yet another instance where I want my ImageViews to resize themselves to fit the available space, resulting in a huge struggle to force these components into their proper straight-jacket. Anyone got any solutions for this?

I'm afraid that also won't work, as the Image needs to be scaled, and the dimensions you are using are from the unscaled image.
I've however am now using this class to get what I want, together with a stylesheet to specify the border it works and I get nice borders.
