Border of Text

How can I add text to outline a border of an image? I would like to snake it around the lined border as if the text were the border itself to where it would be the shape of a square. The text would read left to right and then down and then upside down along the border on the bottom and then right back up. I can't seem to figure it out. HELP! I have a Friday deadline!
I have CS5 Suite.

    Can you be a little more specific about what you are trying to do and the application that you want to use? The methods can vary depending on the application and who published it. For instance, if you're using Final Cut Pro here is a discussion describing how the border can be created.

  • Cell border and text buttons.

    Dear members:
    I am a beginner and have just started using Dreamweaver.
    After a few attempts and some reading I decided to post a message
    with questions on a couple of problems I haven't been able to find
    answers for.
    The first one relates to table cell formating. I have tried
    to set border properties for individual table cells but haven't
    been able to. I would like to be able to set individual border
    thickness and border color values for different cells in a table.
    How is this done ? I have selected the cells I wish to format but
    the property window shows color but not border thickness value. Any
    ideas ?
    The second issue relates to text rollover buttons. I wish to
    create simple navigational buttons in a web site created from text
    placed in table cells. The text should be created as one color
    (gray) for the "up" state and then change to a different color as
    the state changes to "over" and "down". I have looked at Flash
    buttons but they are not exactly what I want and don't offer the
    option I am looking for. Flash text also doesn't allow me to set
    behaviors as most behaviors appear grayed and non-selectable. How
    can I create rollover buttons from simple text that changes color
    and style (normal, bold, italic) with state changes ?
    Any help will be very appreciated. I apologize if these
    questions seem basic but I am beginning to work with Dreamweaver.
    Thank you in advance,
    Joseph Chamberlain

  • No line border and text in book is printed in black instead of dark blue

    Just ordered my first photo book, and found that the text in the book is printed in black instead of the dark blue I thought I had used. I was advised by Apple to remove the 'plist' (had no idea what that was but found some info on Google) by dragging it onto my desktop, then log out and log in again and open the book again and once more choose the right color for the text, and then check the book as PDF in Preview before ordering it again.
    I've done that and the text is now the color I want it to be, so I could go ahead and order it again now, I guess. Meanwhile that plist is still on my desktop - what should I do about that?
    Besides, before ordering the book again I'd like to solve another problem with it, for which Apple didn't give me a solution, and that is that only part of the line borders in my Line Border Theme photo book are visible. There are no lines around a single photo per page (so the photo is not 'framed' so to speak), and on pages with several photo's there are only lines between photo's but not on the outside.
    Any ideas anybody?
    Ps. I should add that Apple was very decent about returning my money right away (besides the two things I just mentioned, the book was also slightly damaged), but didn't answer all my questions.
    I really would like to get the book right and printed though.

    the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist contains your iPhoto preferences and when you launch iPhoto and there is none a fresh new reference file is created so you can throw the old one away
    To preview your book before ordering I recommend Apple's Knowledge base article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040

  • Eliminate printing Border for Text Field???

    Is it possible to display border on the PDF and not print on the output for Text Field??? What settings and/or scripting I need to get this working? A sample form is really appreciated.

    If you use the standard border (for example), you can use the JavaScript prePrint and postPrint for each field to make the border visible, and hidden. Here's how.
    1.) Highlight Text Field in Designer.
    2.) In the Script Editor, select the prePrint Event from the dropdown list on the top left. (This works in FormCalc or Javascript, although I tend to use JavaScript as the language in the right hand drop down)
    3.) Type in (or paste) the following code:
    this.border.presence = "hidden";
    4.) Select the postPrint Event.
    5.) Type in (or paste) the following code:
    this.border.presence = "visible";
    Now when you click print, it will make the outside border hidden, and when you cancel, the border will reappear. Now this will not make the 'Solid Box', or 'Sunken Box' of the text field hidden. The easy way to fix this, is set the 'Appearance' in the Object->Field palette to 'None'.
    Cheers!

  • How to make a border around text?

    In my latest FCE project, I made a solid color matte clip (dark blue) to set below my titles to give the text a colored background (these titles are not overlaid on video clips, so without the colored matte, the background would be the default black of the Timeline, and I don't want black).
    Anyway, so here I have this nice white text overlaid on a dark blue background, looking pretty good, and now I'd like to put a decorative rectangular white border around the text, a thin white line, or a maybe a double white line, sort of like a pinstripe, to elegantly (I hope) enclose the text in a sort of box.
    What would be the best way to create such a border? Could I make one on a transparent layer in Photoshop (I have CS-2,) and then import it into FCE as a clip to set the text above? Or is there a simpler way to do it, within FCE?
    Any suggestions would be welcome.
    Tom

    The only option I see on that PieroF webpage is to download it as a .zip file. When I download it and double-click on the icon, I get that zoom-out effect like it's opening, but it doesn't open. Dropping its icon onto the Stuffit icons doesn't do anything either.
    Anyway, I just experimented with masking off a colored matte in the way you mentioned, and I think I see how to do it: create a color matte and then lay two masks on top of it, an inner one and an (inverted) outer one, which leaves only a thin line of the color matte still showing. Is that it? For a double pinstripe, I suppose I would do that twice, i.e. create two masked-off mattes, one a little larger than the other, and stack them up on the video tracks?
    It's more trouble than the Piero frame generator, no doubt, but effective. Thanks!

  • Border fx text location

    Following my regular workflow in Aperture which includes cropping the image, I then want to add a text watermark using Border FX (BFX).  My problem is that the image imported into BFX the result is that the original image shows and the text box cannot be placed in the proper location.  I don't remember having this problem pre-Maverick but am not sure that is the reason. As a work around, I have to export the cropped image and thenre-import it as a new image to have the text locate properly.  I have spoken to friends who have the same problem.  Any ideas to solve this riddle would be greatly appreciated.

    What seems to work for me is to crop the photo first, then add your BorderFX text
    I'm confused, why would you add the text before cropping the image (and why would you think that would work)?
    Anyway it sounds like you have a fix so that's good.  If you still have a problem I suggest you start your own thread to address it.

  • Border Fx text positioning (2nd post)

    Hopefully, the screen shots can be seen.
    Firstly, both Aperture and Border FX are the latest versions.
    I keep experimenting to find a way of positioning text on an image.  The position of the text is not the same after saving.  Any ideas as to what setting I should be using.  This is most frustrating.
    See screen captures below;  note red text within Border FX in the `1st image, and then when it is saved (2nd image)

    What is the vertical aligment in the text box? Also in your iages the one in BofderFx does not have the border that the image saved back to Aperture has.
    Here's an image I just did in BorderFx. Text is loczted in same place on the image in BorderFx and when it was saved back.

  • Fixing border and text

    I purchased a Flash gallery script and tweeked it to my
    specifications. There are two things however that my limited AS
    can't fix (apparently neither can the coder from whom I purchased
    it).
    Initially the preview border (the large image) had rounded
    corners. Per my request, the coder changed it to squared corners
    but in doing so there is now a triangle of red forming along the
    lower left border. This only happens on some picture selections.
    I'd like that eliminated.
    Secondly, there are three text selections. Only two are
    showing up. The description text, which should appear below the
    title over the preview image, is not showing.
    My final question deals with understanding the imagery. Will
    the images I use for the preview automatically resize to the given
    size of the preview container? I notice they appear somewhat
    blurred and wonder if it's because they are resizing to a larger
    image?
    Here's
    the site.
    Here's the code. Sorry, I included all of it since I'm unsure
    of what you need to see.

    kGlad is right, nobody's likely to go thru all of that code,
    but in a glance, I'll offer the following thing to try (though I
    haven't gone thru the detail code to see if I'm off target)...
    create a button, add it to the stage, and give it an instance
    name of btn1
    In the code you showed, include the following way at the end
    after the last ' } '
    btn1.onRelease = function () {
    create_gallery();
    and for the code that's there now, change the following
    function as shown here... adding the btn1 line before it.
    btn1._visible = false;
    xml.onLoad = function(ok)
    // if (ok) create_gallery();
    if (ok) btn1._visible = true;
    those two slashes are essentially commenting out the code so
    that line of code won't do anything. Now, instead of that function
    making the gallery appear, it will make the button appear when the
    gallery is ready... the button will make the gallery appear.
    That should at least give you a start.

  • How to reduce space between cell border and text ?

    I want to make a very small print of my class timetable. But I can't reduce the table size after a certain size. The major portion is taken up due to space between the cell borders and the text in them. Is there anyway I can reduce that space so that I can make the font size a little more and still keep the table size small.

    Assuming your are using Pages '09 (4.0.3) ..
    First select all the cells which you wish to change.
    Go to Inspector - Text Inspector, and reduce the Inset Margin

  • Getting exact margin of Label border to Text offset

    In my application I need to align several differently-sized
    Labels to the left side. If I align to the X-position, the larger
    labels are positioned somewhat to the right.
    I need to know how to measure the difference in x-position of
    the Label, and the actual position of the text - so far, I found
    nothing!
    Does anybody have a hint where to look?
    TIA,
    Bart Guijt

    You could draw to a bitmap the exact same size of the
    textfield, and then use getColorBoundsRect() to get actual pixel
    values. A hack, but it should work.

  • Text border or outline?

    I looked around on the forum but could not find anybody who even asked this question.
    How do I draw a border or outline around a piece of text? I tried using the graphic inspector to "stroke" the text. Unfortunately, it produces a border for the text box and not on the text itself.
    So is there a way to draw a border around text?

    Welcome to the forums!
    Unfortunately, there is no (easy) way to treat text like other objects, such as adding a stroke. You can give the text a shadow, set the offset to 0, the blur to a low value, and the opacity at 100%, and this will give acceptable results if all you want is a very thin stroke.
    To get a real stroke, the text needs to be turned into a real object. See this thread on how to do that with third-party apps.
