Borderless printing in Tiger with Epson

This has been a nightmare all along. Can anybody tell me how to print borderless with an Epson Stylus Photo RX500 on 4 x 6 inch? In addition to this it seems impossible to print borderless on 5 x 7 inch?
I removed my virtual second borderless printer and now I don't see how to put a new one back.
I am using iPhoto 6 by the way.
In printer utility 'Epson' shows 'gimp print v 5.0 beta 2. What is that about? I've never seen it before. Does this new driver change the way to add a borderless printer?
Many thanks for all your suggestions!
Eaglepeak

I had a similar problem. Here's the fix Epson gave me. it worked fine, but I don't know if it supports borderless on 5X7. I only use it on 4X6.

  • Trying to print off email with Epson iprint

I am experiencing difficulty printing my emails with Epson iprint. It keeps showing that it cannot find my printer.
    any help i would appreciate

I, too, have just heard from an end user about problems when printing a completed form with checkboxes.  She uses Acrobat 8 standard.  I originally created the forms in Acrobat 8 Pro (have upgraded to 9 and now at X on Windows XP).
What's troubling is she can see the form properly completed on screen, but then sometimes the "checked" checkboxes print but most of the time they do not.
I've seen references in different online sources to font issues too, possibly an old printer drive ... bottomline I need to provide an answer for her so any comments will be most appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Printing Borderless in Lightroom 3 with Epson 3880

    Hello everyone,
I'm having a tough time printing border less photos with my new Epson 3880 printer through Lightroom 3. I want to print a single image borderless.I set my printer driver for borderless (4x6 borerless retain size), then in the Print Module I make sure that my cell size is as big as my paper (4x6) and have all margins set to "0". It all looks great in the preview in LR, yet what I see on my screen is not what I get on the print. Usually it will have a white border, and sometimes it will have a white border and my photo will be cropped either form the left or the right. What am I doing wrong?

Yeah, this should be a very, very simple thing (even the most embarrassingly rudimentary photo programs do it as a basic function), but alas, it isn't.  I use LR3 to process about 200-300 images a week.  But if my wife wants a simple 4x6 print of a picture, I have to use Windows Picture Viewer.  I went through two packages of 8x10 paper when I bought the program trying to accomplish this laughably basic task (maybe we don't always WANT to physically crop/mat the photos we print, Adobe); I nearly threw my printerS (yeah, I tried with two of them) out the window.  Your description of the problem--the over cropping, the arbitrarily asymmetrical borders--are dead on.  Great program, but god, is that a pain in the ***.

  • Epson SP1400 Borderless Printing No More with 10.6

Before upgrading to Snow Leopard, I had no problem printing borderless up to Super B (13" X 19") in LR 2 all margins set to zero.  Once I upgraded, I can no longer print borderless on anything other than 4" X 6".  There is now an 1/8" border around all prints larger than 4X6, again borders set to zero, paper size checked.  I even tried zoom to fill function to no avail.  Now if I could set negative margins, I probably could solve the problem ;-).  For what it is worth, I experience the same problem printing from CS4.
So, even though there are no margins showing in LR Print module preview mode, I still get borders.  Is this a new "feature"?
Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.

Thank you both for quick replies.  I think there is a print driver issue.  My LR2 Print presets are the same as before the 10.6 upgrade and using the same paper as before.  B4 the upgrade I was printing borderless on 13" x 19", 8" X 10", and 8.5" X 11" with no problems.  Since the upgrade, the prints now come out with a border even thought all LR and print settings indicated borderless and the paper is designed for borderless.
Not sure what to do.  I am going to try tech support's direct line and hope they can assist.
Thank you again for your comments.

  • Color control in printing: Aperture mayhem with Epson printer

With monitors calibrated and colorsync profiles loaded for my Epson 1280 printer, Photoshop prints are as close to screen as possible.
Aperture starts off with something strange: each profile for my Epson appears 3X in the menu. When selecting the profile that matches my printer and paper, the result is more than a color cast. It's more like a colorized image. I can get closer by selecting profiles that don't match my paper type, but always with a cast.
Is there a trick to getting Aperture to be reliable and as good as Photoshop?

(These aren't Epson's instructions, but might be helpful regardless)
For some Epson printers, the drivers shipped with Tiger are more current that the ones on the Epson web site. You wouldn't want to delete the drivers, but - for example - if you move from Firewire to USB, or Airport, the system can get confused.
I've found that deleting the Epson printers in Print Center (and resetting the printing subsystem if necessary or deleting and installing drivers) isn't enough, but that you also have to eradicate everything inside
    /Library/Printers/EPSON/Preferences/
where it remembers printer models, ports and settings.
In addition, ColorSync remembers your profiles for deleted printers in the (hidden) file
    /Library/Preferences/.Globalpreferences.plist
DON'T delete this file, just edit it and get rid of the deleted devices (ColorSyncDevices/Device-prtrxxxx)

  • Printing from Lightroom with Epson 3800

I have tried all sorts of things and I can't seem to figure out how to print on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.
    Here's what I'm using.
    MAC 10.5.8
    Lightroom 2.5
    Epson print Driver 6.11
What do I need to do to print what I see in my print window. (see screenshot)
So far my results have been:
    1. not centered on the long side (the 11" edge)
    2. about 3/8" trimmed off on the leading edge.
    I've tried borderless well.

The paper is 8.5 x 11, at least that's what the package says.
It's the Premium Luster Photo Paper 50 pack.
I have tried borderless (Retain size). The results are even worse.
It prints to the edge but also cuts off 3/8" of image on the leading edge.
And the the image is not centred on the 11" side.

  • InDesign and printing full bleed with Epson

I have been trying to print in full bleed from InDesign (CS6) on my Epson printer (Photo Stylus 1400). When I preview the artwork it looks fine just as I have set it up, but when I send to print the artwork is being cut off where its not supposed to. I tried to print to my wireless HP printer, in pdf, and jpg format and it still doesn't work. I also tried printing it from Photoshop and Illustrator.
I have a Macbook Pro OS X 10.8.5 with retina display.
If anyone has any solution to this, please let me know! Thanks

Borderless printing is handled by your print driver, which overscales whatever you send to your printer to cover all areas. This has nothing to do with Adobe. You need to find those options in the printer driver and adjust them suitably (if that's possible)

  • Color cast when printing from Lightroom with Epson 3880 printer

Just got an epson 3880 printer. Printing on epson paper is fine. But printing on Ilford or Moab or other papers from lightroom and photoshop have a terrible magenta color cast.
WHen I print the same image from Preview, with the same print driver settings, it looks fine. So somehow the adobe apps (or my settings) are messing up the color sync.
I used to have an espon 2400 which worked just fine.
I have Mac OSX-10.9.1. Monitor is calibrated. (Prints to epson paper with their profiles look great...it's just other profiles that are really bad).
    I need help!

Are you using moab icc profiles or are you using one of the epson profiles?
I always use the moab profiles which you can download from their Web site. This way you are matching the specific epson printer with the specific moab paper.
At that point you change the printer manages color to Lightroom manages color and select the specific profile. Very easy to do - they even have instructions on the Moab site for installing the profiles if you haven't done that.
Once installed you can also use them through the system print dialogs in PS but it is really much much easier to use in LR - Since coming on board with LR last summer, I have switched to doing ALL printing from LR. Since you mentioned that you are having the same problem with LR and PS, I'm betting you are using epson profiles and this will solve your problem.
    Hope so

  • Printing in Word with Epson Artisan 730

I am posting for a friend, so I hope I have enought information. The Epson Artisan 730 seems to be working in MS Word because a document in US letter size prints properly. When I prepared a 16 cm x 23 cm. document and set up the printer as "other sizes" the print preview looks correct but the paper goes through and nothing is printed on it. Has anyone had this problem? Is it in the printer setup or in Word?
She said that her Mac version is OS X 10.9.2. Thanks for any suggestions about things to try.
    Nancy

First some people have had problems getting the printer drivers to update via software update, make sure you have the correct drivers as shown in this table.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669
To see what driver you have go to System Preferences > Print and Scan > into the printer utility and under the general tab you'll see the driver version.
To force an update delete the old driver
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15947486#15947486
I just resolved a problem with our Epson Artisan 730 and print quality, turns out the USB drivers and WIFI drivers are VERY different and the USB drivers offer much better quality, more options in the print dialog for quality and color management.
If you already have the correct version of the drivers maybe a mac connected to the printer via USB can share the printer and then you can print with the USB driver. I know that's a pain since that's what we did before we got the 730 with WIFI.

  • Print on CDs with Epson R800

I was able to use 'Epson Print CD' to print on my cd/dvd before but since I pluged the printer in my Airport Extreme, I can't use the Epson Manual feed to print on cds. I tried to plug the printer directly in my PowerBook, delete the Manual driver, but now I can't reinstall the Manual driver.
Is it just not compatible with OS 10.4.4?

I sent an email to Epson and this is their reply, for those who might have the same problem. I was able to install the manual printing driver for my CDs but the manual printing doesn't work when the printer is pluged in the Airport Extreme. It has to be pluged directly to the Mac.

  • Print size problems with Epson R3000 and Mountain Lion

I am using Mountain Lion on a 2008 MBP and an Epson R3000 printer.  I can not get prints to size to my paper.  In aperture I am choosing custom since there is no option for 11.7X16.5.  I have set the print size to the same and still it does not work.  I tried both landscape and portrait but that did not work.

  • Lightroom 2.6 Problem Printing Borderless Prints on Epson R800

I have used Lightroom to print borderless prints (using the paper setting - borderless -sheet feeder) and all has worked fine until I downloaded the new Apple Epson driver.  I found this new Apple driver did not work well as the colours were washed out.  So, I went back to the current Epson driver for Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.2) and I can print again.  (The prints are now a bit dark but that can be addressed).
However, I now find I cannot print borderless prints (i.e. with no white edge) via Lightroom 2.6 using the current Epson driver and paper setting of borderless sheet feeder.  The printer responds with "media not loaded correctly".  When I go to Photoshop CS4 or iPhoto, I can print borderless prints. So, something is going on in Lightroom.
Any suggestions?  Except of course to print borderless prints from Photoshop.

    Sam,
I am still working on a similar problem with one of my Epson printers. The newer Epson R280 (may be R290 outside the US) works just fine with borderless. The older SP 2200 does not. I have been in communication with Epson, but not yet resolved. For most printers the newest software referenced for Leopard is with EasyPrint, but with this old 2200 the driver referenced is still not nearly as recently released as the EasyPrint frame work. The reply I got back from Epson was not satisfactory because it ignored the fact I am connected to my 2200 via Firewire and not USB, and all reference in the reply was to USB connection. Despite doubting the usefulness of the reply, I will have to move my 2200 much closer to the computer to try connecting with USB, and I simply have not tried it, since I doubt it will help.
My issues with borderless on the SP 2200 are also present when printing borderless from Photoshop CS3 and from Pages. Thus it seems more a problem with Leopard than with Aperture.
Sorry to not be more helpful or hopeful, but I think drivers for some printers are not fully tuned to printing in Leopard.

  • J4540 "Borderless Printing Error"

I'm attempting to print a booklet, side-fold brochure.  My paper size setting is Borderless 8.5X11.  I've printed this brochure many times before using the exact same settings with no problems.  However, when I tried to print today, I had only a black ink cartridge installed; I got an error message reading "Borderless Printing Error: Borderless printing cannot occur with only the Black Ink Cartridge installed. To print a Borderless Photo, install either a tri-color print cartridge, or a photo print cartridge."
Even though the brochure I'm printing is black & white (and it was set on "print in grayscale"), I did have a new Officejet 901 Tri-Color Ink Cartridge handy. So I installed it and received a message that the new cartridge had been detected.  Then I scanned the sheet to align cartridges.  The printer said something like "Installation successful".  However, everytime I try to print this brochure page, I still get the same error message:  "Borderless Printing Error: Borderless printing cannot occur with only the Black Ink Cartridge installed. To print a Borderless Photo, install either a tri-color print cartridge, or a photo print cartridge."
I tried re-starting, unplugging, etc., but I can't get it to print -- even though I'm using the same settings I have before. I went online and tried printing a couple of color pages and it printed them out just fine -- so the color cartridge is working. Not sure why I keep getting this message.
I'm no expert on this stuff, and any help/advice would be appreciated.  Thanks a bunch,
    Jason

I wish I could help you, and I'm unhappy to see that you put this message up in April and have no response yet.
I too get this "cannot print" message - not that the cartridge is missing, but that I cannot do borderless printing with ONLY the black cartridge. I have the color cartridge installed, I've done prints of the same pages before, and I cannot seem to get the printer (HP Photosmart C4780 wireless) printer to work when that message comes up. I'd love to get some help from HP.
Some things I've tried. On my iMac I shut down all applications that are not necessary, and relaunch my finder. I think that clears out its brain a little. Then I'll try to print again (It just worked - same exact page).
Also, sometimes I open the HP Utility and ask it to print a test page. That also seems to clear it's brain. After that it worked also.
I think there's a sometimes "glitch" in the program. Cleaning things out as much as possible, and starting over again seem to help.  GOOD LUCK!
