Borderless Printing Issues

Don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask this, but I just can't work out how to get a borderless print from Illustrator CS5.5 and my Epson 2100 on Mac OS X 10.7.
I don't print a lot, but now I have a need to do so.  When I was using Windows, I didn't have this issue, but on OS X, I'm struggling.
This is what happens.
I have a A3 document with graphics that go edge to edge.  I select A3 (Sheet feeder - borderless) in the Media size box, and have tried selecting 'Do not Scale' and 'Fit to Page'. Both give the same results, i.e. borderless printing, but the document doesn't fit on the page - it is being cropped.
If I select A3 (Standard - minimise margins) in the Media size box, and either of the options mentioned before, then I get the whole document, but with a small margin all around the paper.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks.

There are many printers out there that says they are borderless, but all they do is print closer to the edge. I personally believe manufacturos should not be be able to claim borderless, unless they truly are.
Though you have a setting that says borderelss, I would try the 2 suggestions i gave you (the .ppd you have form Epson may not be optimized for Illustrator, as they really program that for the photo quicker. If you want to solve your problem you will have to invest the ink and 2 sheets of paper and find out if your printer can truly print to the edge. Also make sure your paper is inserted properly.
I would call Epson and get their response on the issue, would love to hear their response.

  • Borderless Printing issues with HP Officejet 4500

I have created a document using Microsoft word 2007 and am having trouble printing this document without borders. I have a HP Officejet 4500 which does support borderless printing. I have gone into properties when getting ready to print and made sure to check the borderless box. I am still left with a small 1/8 inch border around the entire page. I tried the shortcuts and selected brochures with the same results. I also tried changing the settings through word. I went into page set up and made the margins "0.0" on both sides as well as the top and bottom of the page. It still prints with borders. What am I missing???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Having the same issue. I tried to print boderless from many different programms and with all settings I could choose. I get out a full photo or document after maybe 20 prints. Everytime the printer wants to print at least 2 pages, stops printing after 10-50% and restarts again.
I really would like to hear back from HP.

  • Aperture 2.0 / Epson (Multiple Printers) Borderless Printing Issue

Our photography business recently purchased some Nikon D3s. As Aperture 2.0 is necessary to utilize them, we became an early adopter of Aperture 2.0. Immediately after the upgrade, borderless printing became impossible on all of our Epson R2400s and our Epson 3800s.
Through a VERY painful process, we were able to get the R2400s to print borderless 4x6s, but no other sizes. The 3800s are a different story. Not only is it impossible to print borderless, but the printed images are rotated by about 1-2 degrees in the clockwise direction.
It is important to note that no other program (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) are experiencing this behavior -- only Aperture and immediately following the 2.0 upgrade.
One oddity that may provide a clue. All combinations of paper, border size, "expand" settings, etc. have been tried. Every time, even the calibration pages printed with a border. On paper, however, allows the calibration page to print to the edge, however, 16-bit printing MUST BE TURNED OFF. Although it prints to the edge, it is still rotated by 1-2 degrees. Turning off 16-bit printing does NOT, however, make any image print correctly -- only the calibration page (and it is not correct).
Apple -- if you are reading this, please respond as quickly as possible. We rely on aperture for our business workflow. It is not practical for us to print every image out of Adobe's suite.

Epson hasn't released a driver for the 1280 since July of 2006. Real simple to check:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid= 14387&prodoid=28907797&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh
I think that's an Epson problem, not an Aperture problem. Many printer drivers had to be updated for OS X 10.5 Leopard (released in October of 2007). Hopefully one is coming, but that is an older printer, so I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope.
I didn't check for the Kodak, but it should be easy for you to find that info over at Kodak's web site.

  • Borderless printing issue

I am attempting to print borderless for postcards. I created the post card in Print Explosion Deluxe 3.0.1.1. I put the page setup to 8 1/2x 11 borderless and I ma printing on a Canon MP460. When I check the preview the image and colors are fine but when I print it the colors are all faded out. if I change to any other document set up the color intensity returns but I end with borders on the outer edges that chop of the outer edges of the post cards. Anyone have some suggestions? I'm not certain why the colors washout in borderless. I even increased the color intensity in color options but still got the same washed out colors.

Hi Nicholaspaint, and a warm welcome to the forums!
On the Border/Chopping off issue, when the Print Dialog comes up, choose Copies & Pages, then Paper handling, look for the boxes... Use Paper size & Fit to Paper Size, use this last one selecting the right size, and uncheck Scale down only

  • Borderless Printing issue on Epson R1900

I'm using the latest Snow Leopard, Aperture and Epson drivers.
This one is driving me nuts. I have some 5x7 paper. The paper size choices include a "5x7 in" option and a "5x7 in (Sheet Feeder - Borderless)" option. In Photoshop, these work as expected - 5x7 has border, 5x7 borderless does not. In Aperture, 5x7 works but Borderless (and, as it appears, and paper with all borders defined as 0) is interpreted by the driver as roll paper and I get an error when printing:
"The Source selected in the printer driver is not appropriate for the paper that is loaded in the printer. To print on a CD/DVD, first remove the paper and then open the front tray. Load the CD/DVD tray into the front tray, then resume printing."
    Any advice?

I've actually had this issue on my R1900 way back into 10.5.8 so it's not caused by Snow Leopard (or fixed for that matter). I have been able to get around it but by doing things like opening the ink compartment and resetting ink that I had just inserted or by changing the paper. All kind of random and I haven't found any one thing that avoids the error but it will print. Eventually. Sometimes. I really wish someone would figure out why it is doing this, it has actually been an issue for me since I first got the R1900...

    Hi
It seams that no matter how I try I cannot get bordless printing to work correctly.  Just trying an A5 document set to print booklet style in publisher with no border. What I get is an enlarged copy of what I need with all the edges cropped for some reason.
Please help as I really need to sort this.

  • I have an Epson R2400 and I can not find the driver for borderless printing

I have two Epson printers; I added the first, a R200 using the Printer Utility and in the add printer screen it asked me what page setup I wanted. I chose ALL and it gives me the ability to print borderless prints. I then added the R2400 using he Printer Utility but the "page setup" is grayed out and I do not have a borderless print option o this printer.
I have tried deleting the R2400 from the list of printers and adding it again without success.
I am using the drivers that came on the CD-ROM with the printer.
Has anyone had a similar experience with the R2400 borderless print issue and might anyone have an answer?
    Thank you.

Hi: Please click on the device in the device manager. Then click on the details tab. Post the top string of characters you see. Those will identify the type and model of the missing device and I can send you the link to the drivers. It is either your AMT driver, TPM driver or IMEI driver. In the meantime, install the chipset driver and reboot if you have not done so already. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=5037900&prodNameId=5037902&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=vc-88640-1 Paul

  • Issue on borderless printing using android HP ePrint app with HP LaserJet Pro 200 color M251nw

    Hi,
I am trying to print a pdf document which is of A4 size (11.7 x 8.3 inches without any borders) from android tablet using HP ePrint app along with the printer HP Laserjet Pro 200 color M251nw. When it is printed on A4 sheet, it adds the border on all the sides around 12mm-left, 11mm-right, 8mm-top, 9.5mm-botton margins.
On the printer the firmware datecode shows 20121026, Also the ePrint app which I am using is latest and upto date.
Please let me know how to print the borderless print in A4 sheet.
    Regards,
    Jaya

    Hello revlib,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Turning off the Wireless Direct on the LaserJet Pro 200 color M251nw should have disabled the SSID from broadcasting. Since disabling from the front display did not resolve, let us try from the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
To access the EWS you need to enter the I.P address for the M251nw into the address bar of your web browser. The I.P address can be collected by touching Setup ()> Reports> Network Summary.
Once in the EWS, click Network> Wireless Direct Setup> select Off and Apply.
Let me know if this has help

  • Epson R300 Printing issues - No borderless

    Hey all,
Having issues and it's annoying me to the extreme - I've just forked out for an expensive computer that can't do borderless prints like a £250 dell can!
Basically, I've got an Epson Stylus Photo R300. It's a lovely printer and has come up with some lovely shots in its time. In windows I was able to do borderless prints with no trouble whatsoever - however, my mac is having none of it. I've tried til the cows come home to get it to print borderless, using Photoshop and iPhoto but can't for the life of me get it to do it.
I've tried various guides, including those telling me to uninstall the printer etc - but when I follow them, the options simply aren't there.
    HELP!!

    You didn't say, so I'll ask -
When you Add an Epson, in Printer Setup, you don't click on the printer in Default Browser - instead, you click on More Printers and select "Epson USB." Next, after highlighting the printer, you go to the "Page Setup" menu and select ALL. This gives you a queue and driver for regular use and a separate print queue/driver for borderless.
    Is that what you did?

  • Borderless printing in Aperture 2

I just upgraded to Aperture 2.0 and I can no longer make borderless prints on my Canon Pixma Pro9500. I ran the "Printer Calibration" wizard that is supposed to center the image but it made no difference. Here is my workflow using 8x10 paper.
    Edit Image
    Crop to 8x10 proportions
Select "8x10 borderless" as media size in printer dialog box
Select "Fill Page" under "Scale to..." menu
Move "Border Width" slider to "0"
    Print
I get a small border all the way around the image, the same image will print fine from PS CS3 or Lightroom.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    JB,
The trick to solving this is making an adjustment within the "Printer Settings" from the Aperture print dialogue box. This is the same place where you select paper type and print quality. In the drop down menus select "Borderless Printing." Here you can adjust the amount of extension on your borderless prints. If I have the slider all the way to the left, to "min", I get the same very slight white border all the way around the edge of my prints with either my iP8500 or iP6700D. Moving the slider one step to the right gets rid of the white border and gives me a true borderless print.
Now, the catch is I lose just a bit of the image on the bottom and top. Not much, but a a few pixels. I've learned to crop a little bit wider to accommodate. I hope this helps with your issue.

  • Lightroom 2.6 Problem Printing Borderless Prints on Epson R800

I have used Lightroom to print borderless prints (using the paper setting - borderless -sheet feeder) and all has worked fine until I downloaded the new Apple Epson driver.  I found this new Apple driver did not work well as the colours were washed out.  So, I went back to the current Epson driver for Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.2) and I can print again.  (The prints are now a bit dark but that can be addressed).
However, I now find I cannot print borderless prints (i.e. with no white edge) via Lightroom 2.6 using the current Epson driver and paper setting of borderless sheet feeder.  The printer responds with "media not loaded correctly".  When I go to Photoshop CS4 or iPhoto, I can print borderless prints. So, something is going on in Lightroom.
Any suggestions?  Except of course to print borderless prints from Photoshop.

    Sam,
I am still working on a similar problem with one of my Epson printers. The newer Epson R280 (may be R290 outside the US) works just fine with borderless. The older SP 2200 does not. I have been in communication with Epson, but not yet resolved. For most printers the newest software referenced for Leopard is with EasyPrint, but with this old 2200 the driver referenced is still not nearly as recently released as the EasyPrint frame work. The reply I got back from Epson was not satisfactory because it ignored the fact I am connected to my 2200 via Firewire and not USB, and all reference in the reply was to USB connection. Despite doubting the usefulness of the reply, I will have to move my 2200 much closer to the computer to try connecting with USB, and I simply have not tried it, since I doubt it will help.
My issues with borderless on the SP 2200 are also present when printing borderless from Photoshop CS3 and from Pages. Thus it seems more a problem with Leopard than with Aperture.
Sorry to not be more helpful or hopeful, but I think drivers for some printers are not fully tuned to printing in Leopard.

  • Borderless printing - trailing white edge

I've far more experience printing from PCs than Macs (used to use QImage on those), and am well aware of issues like overspray/borderless extension settings to rpoduce borderless prints.
Anyhow I cannot get a 6x4" borderless print to print without as trailing white edge from iPhoto - not sure if this is because there's no page setup menu option.
When you click print, the first screen shows the photo filling the 'canvas', but if I print there's a 7mm trailing white edge.
This white edge is also evident if I hit preview rather than printing straight off.
I can print the photo from Preview/Lightroom with no problems with whta seem to me to be identical settings.
    Printer is a Canon iP5000.
I don't think iPhoto is centering the image properly on the page as an equal amount of photo is chopped off the top.
There's at least 1 other thread but no solution on that.
I'll try the other printers to see if I have problems with those too.
    AC

Did you ever get a solution to your problem? I was looking into another issue and saw your post. I use a Canon i850 printer and in the print preview window I get a white sliver at the top and right of the image. However, it does not print that way.
Have you tried going to the Advance print menus and under the Paper Handling-Destination Paper Size menu section checked the radio button "Scale to fit paper size:"?

  • Borderless Printing Problems - C309g-m

I have developed a problem when trying to create borderless prints with my C309g-m All-In-One.  Recently I have begun to see a margin on the right side and bottom of prints that are supposed to be borderless.  When I first set up the printer, borderless printing was as expected.  It seems that after an update (as best I recall) the borderless prints began to appear with the white stripes (between 0.1 and 0.2 inches) as noted above.  The white stripes occur whether printing 4x6 (my normal print size) or 8.5x11. (the border stripes appear slightly bigger on this size).
The stripes appear whether i print from Qimage or Photoshop so they do not appear to be specific to the software used.  Qimage shows a fixed border of 0.0017" on the right and bottom with 0's for the left and top.  Any clues as to what might have happened and how I can "fix" it to once again print borderless.
    Larry

    Hi folks,
I understand you are all experiencing a white border on the right and bottom of your prints when printing borderless.
The first thing I would suggest is for you to do a copy of a borderless photo to test the hardware. If the hardware prints with no issue then the issue is related to the computer, possibly the settings or the driver.
If the issue persists please post back with the following information.
Operating system and version. Mac or Windows.
    Program you are printing from.
Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Borderless printing - paper getting ripped!

So I'm on the latest version of Mavericks, and I have tried printing from Pages AND Preview, using the drivers of AirPrint AND my printer directly from the Epson website for Mavericks. No matter what I do, borderless printing does not work. I have a 8 1/2 x 11 paper I am trying to print to, and when it prints, the rollers hit the edge of the paper and actually tear it, everytime. I have tried absolutely everything. This is with photo glossy paper. What am I missing here?!

It could be; photo paper tends to be thicker and/or may have a slight curl to it that's catching the print head as it goes by.
Still, most people with photo-capable printers do tend to print borderless, so if it were a widespread issue I think the topic would be more common here.

  • Borderless printing problems

I never did a lot of printing with previous versions of iPhoto but I'm now experimenting with the latest iPhoto. Borderless printing is giving me a headache because it crops the edges my photos. I recently restored an old photo from WWI and wanted a nice 6x4 print but there is important content at the edged of the photo and it's being cropped off by iPhoto.
Going via the Advanced printing menu I can get a decent non-cropped print by adjusting the Amount of Extension slider for Borderless Printing but I had issues with the colour reproduction not being quite what I wanted. I faffed about with colour profiles and various settings until I decided to try the iPhoto print Presets which surprisingly produced the best results but at the expense of a badly cropped image. It seems that the image is always cropped even if I choose a border option instead of going for Borderless.
    Am I missing something?
The image is 6x4 which is the size I'm trying to print and if you look at the image here: http://flickr.com/photos/ajk/1108202517/ you can see why I don't want it cropped. For photos I take myself there will be more margin for error/cropping but I'd like to get this right if possible. Maybe I'll just have to keep playing with advanced settings but it would simplify things a lot if I could just use iPhotos own settings.
Thanks in advance for any tips/help.

    Flynn:
I copied the photo from your site and brought it into iPhoto. I see what you mean about losing some of the arm of the person on the left. Even if you select non borderless some of the photo gets cropped. That's worth reporting via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
What you will need do to get exactly what you want is to print from PE4. You can control the process much better. No cutting of the edges.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
