Borderless printing on non HP paper

Hi everyone,
i got an issue with my HP Photosmart Pro B9180 and 10.5.2. It´s not possible to print borderless on papers witch require the icc of HP Premium paper.
I need to print on a non HP Paper but with the profile of HP Premium paper. When borderless printing is activated the dialog-box switches back to HP Advanced Paper.
The HP Support said, i´ve to take another profile. But there is no other profile than the icc of HP Premium to match the color.
I´ve got the latest Apple and HP updates but it still doesn´t work.
Any ideas?
cheers,
Flo

This is very interesting. What is the width ( from the short edge of the paper) of the graphics? What is the prominent color of the graphic? What is the size, est. weight  and type of the christmas paper?

  • Borderless printing from Windows 7 64 to a shared printer on XP Pro system.

I recently bought a new dv7 HP laptop with Windows 7 64 bit to replace a Dell laptop running XP.  The XP laptop and other XP systems can print to my HP PSC2410 connected to a XP pro system fine.  The XP systems can print both 8x10, 5x6 or 4x6 borderlessly fine.  However, the new HP laptop with Windows 7 does NOT even have the option of 4x6 or 5x7size paper!  If I connect the printer directly to the win7 system, that works, but when I print to the same printer via the XP pro "shared printer", most of the paper size options go away.
I found a post that shows how to present a 4x6 paper size option to the win7 system which now works, but borderless printing to the 4x6 paper doesn't work.  The 4x6 photos all print with thin white borders.  Please tell me I don't have to replace my PSC2410 printer in order to print from my new windows 7 system (borderlessly) via a network!

  • Borderless printing - paper getting ripped!

So I'm on the latest version of Mavericks, and I have tried printing from Pages AND Preview, using the drivers of AirPrint AND my printer directly from the Epson website for Mavericks. No matter what I do, borderless printing does not work. I have a 8 1/2 x 11 paper I am trying to print to, and when it prints, the rollers hit the edge of the paper and actually tear it, everytime. I have tried absolutely everything. This is with photo glossy paper. What am I missing here?!

It could be; photo paper tends to be thicker and/or may have a slight curl to it that's catching the print head as it goes by.
Still, most people with photo-capable printers do tend to print borderless, so if it were a widespread issue I think the topic would be more common here.

  • C4580 Borderless Printing on Plain Paper?

I want to do borderless printing on a plain piece of letter size (8.5 x 11 in) paper. When I select borderless though the HP software tells me I can only do this with photo paper which I don't want because it just wastes ink. I'm printing on normal paper so is it possible to print borderless on normal paper?
    Running Win7.
    Thanks.

  • A3 missing feature: calibration of paper edges for borderless printing

This question was posted elsewhere by someone else, but never answered, so I'm trying again...
In A2 it was possible to print a "calibration" sheet from within the print dialogue box, and then enter numbers corresponding to visual alignment of the paper edges. This was necessary (for me at least, using Canon inkjet printers) to make accurate borderless prints (i.e. having no ink overrun or undesired borders) by taking into account printer specific paper alignment variations. I searched everywhere for this in A3 and could not find it, so I guess the feature was removed?
    Does anyone know a workaround?

  • Borderless printing, Aperture=Fail?

    Howdy!
The short of it- Nothing I shoot (Canon EOS 7D), regardless of the settings I choose in Aperture, will print borderless.
I can import an image to the Desktop, pull it into iPhoto and print borderless 13x19 prints without a 2nd thought.
I drop the same file into Adobe's software (supplied with the Pixma Pro 9500 MKII), order up a borderless print and "voila!", a borderless print spits out.
I import the very same file into Aperture 3.1.3, request a borderless print- And get 1/4 inch borders.
This ought not be rocket science. The latest Canon drivers (as of 7Oct2011, date this was posted) are installed, proper paper size is selected, margins are, across the board, set to 0.00" and Border:None chosen from the Page Layout dialog.
I'll ask about Apertures (numerous! numerous!) crashes later, but this is my current frustration.
Bone stock iMac i5, 4GB Apple installed RAM, 500GB free space, freshly initialized drive, 10.7.1, all Software Updates (as of 7Oct2011, date this was posted) installed, and no other software not included with the Mac.
Is borderless printing, regardless of Aperture's dialog boxes, impossible?
    Thanks!

    Glen,
There are two things called 'Boarders' when it comes to printing in Aperture.
There is a boarder that Aperture can place around an image. that is set in the Aperture print dialog here:
Then there is the boarder the printer places around an image. That can be set in a few places depending on your setup.
First in Aperture when you slect the paper size:
Your menu options most likely will be different but you should have something similar to allow you to select a borderless printout.
Finally in the printer dialog itself (which you get after selecting print in the Aperture dialog)
    Here:
    And here
Again your printer menu options might be dfferent depending n your printer and driver.
    good luck

I want to print borderless greeting cards on precut 6.5X10 cardstock. I was able to do this in PSP Elements v. 4 put cannot create the custom borderless size in v. 7.
I still have PSP v.4 installed and switch to it to print borderless but it becomes very complicated and I'm sure I shouldn't have to do this.
Also, shouldn't I be able to print borderless on non-photo papers?

Borderless printing is not supported with plain papers because ink near the edges of plain paper causes the paper to cockle, which would then tend to jam in the exit of the printer.
As for the issues with custom sizes in Elements 7 it seems that is an issue for Adobe to address.  I do not have any suggestions there although you might try setting up the printer as if it had the nearest larges size and then adjust the borders in Elements so that it actaully prints borderless on the 6.5x10 media.

  • Canon MP800R | Borderless Print Conundrum

I have designed a A3 borderless poster in Pages (latest version). When I scale print to A4 borderless on MP800R it reduces it but with a margin (and not due to the border setting in the print options). Not only does it print with a margin it trucates the right of the poster off - not a lot but enoigh to annoy).
To get round this I set the Pages page setting to A4 Borderless and reduced the poster by 70.9% to get it to fit. The problem now is that although the A3 poster will print as an A4 borderless it won't let me set the print quality to anything ovedr than "normal" setting on the "Details" slider in the print settings box. (After much experimenting it appears that plain paper on borderless setting won't let you chose to fine print - presumably to stop saturation of 80gsm type paper - I'm using 160gsm). It also still truncates - a little - the right side.
None of this happens on my work Epson Stylus Photo 1290. It reduces effotlessly within Pages using the normal method for doing so.
A last thing - when previewing the print document to be printed the preview does not show that it is going to print with margins or truncated - in fact it looks perfect in preview.
Any ideas? I've got a working work around but it's long winded. Export to PDF, open in Acrobat and print to printer margin on A4 and except a white border. At least all the image is there.
    Cheers.

    Hello Frando,
Since no one seems to jumping at your posting I thought I'd have a go.
I don't have the MP800R or the latest Pages, but I do have a Canon iP5200R and Pages 1.0 that came with iWork 05. And I can recreate some of your problem...
I created an A3 page then as you say set the Page Setup to A4 Borderless and I tried a scale of 80%. I then set the Borderless Printing slider to 3/4 and found I could print on A4 full bleed with a small amount of cropping on the RH side. Changing the scaling and bleed setting helped a little, but I only got the perfect output when my original Page Setup was A4 Borderless and 100% scaling. In contrast, I made a similar layout in InDesign CS2 and it worked fine. Me thinks that Pages isn't a serious publication app. More like the dreaded MS Publisher
I also found that I don't have the restriction in Quality & Media when using plain paper, but that is most likely due to a difference in the driver.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • Borderless Prints

I need to print Borderless 8x12 prints on my Pixma 5320 printer.  This is not one of the standard sizes available though I can set a custom size for this.  Please explain the details of exactly how the printer works, why this doesn't seem to give borderless prints and what can be done about it.  Shouldn't Canon provide standard size settings for all the standard paper sizes that are available?  If I need to create a non paper size I can understand limitations, but not with standard sizes.  Thanks

    Hi pstu,
The PIXMA MG5320 allows for printing on custom paper sizes up to a maximum size of 8.50 x 26.61 inches (215.9 x 676.0 mm) on plain paper.

  • White border on borderless prints under Snow Leo

After upgrading to 10.6, my trusty old Canon i950 photo printer ceased to be able to print borderless prints. No matter how I've tweaked the image fit and borderless printing settings, the 4x6 prints I've made all have a white stripe on them. The first prints had a border on both one of the long sides and one of the short sides of the print, and after changing all applicable settings to cover the paper as fully as possible, I now only have a stripe on one of the long paper sides.
I've never had this issue under 10.4 or 10.5, so the issue must be somehow related to the new Canon print drivers.
Any ideas on which settings to check? Anyone else with similar issues?

Sorry took a while to answer:
    * Yes, using the drivers that come with Snow Leopard.
    * Deleting and re-adding the queue didn't help.
    * Printing using Adobe Lightroom. I double-checked all the borderless printing settings and after setting all the available over-printing settings to the max (so they're printing more over the paper than on Leo), I got rid of the white stripe on the short edge but am still getting a white non-printing stripe on the long edge of the 4"x6" print.

  • Borderless printing with Adobe reader or acrobat and HP Officejet Pro 8100

    Hello,
When printing borderless with my Pro 8100 the printed pdf moves about 2mm to te left on the paper. (White vertical strip on the right side is the result and on the left side something is missing!).
What causes the problem seems to be that the HP Pro 8100 printsoftware makes the A4-format a littlebit larger (214,55 x 300,91) than an actual A4-format (210,00 x 297,00) when you choose borderless printing.
Therefore, I suppose that the pdf shoud be centered before printing. Adobe reader doesn't seem to have the possiblity to center the page however.
    Any tips?

The borderless printing option is intended to print photo's on photo paper.  When printing borderless the print is slightly oversized to eliminate (or reduce) to chance for white edges due to media skey.  Depending on your operating system you may have a setting in the Advanced tab of the driver for Overspray, set this to minimum and see if it helps.

  • How Do I BORDERLESS PRINT on Epson RX500 in 10.4.7?

    Hello,
    When I set up my Epson RX500 All-In-One printer/scanner I was using 10.3 Panther.
The Print Setup Utility looked just like it does in the setup guide that comes with the unit.
I never used Borderless Printing but in the "Printer List" it showed Stylus Photo RX500 and Stylus Photo RX500(Sheet Feeder - Borderless).
Now a year later (after upgrading to 10.4.7) I want to do some borderless printing with 4x6 and 5x7 photo paper but the "Stylus Photo RX500(Sheet Feeder - Borderless)" listing is not there anymore.
Also the Printer Setup Utility has changed. The screens aren't like they were in 10.3 (where I select EPSON USB from a pull-down menu, etc).
I went to the Epson Website to download new drivers but they only have
TWAIN Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v2.65A for Macintosh OS X (v10.2.x - 10.3.x)
    OR
Printer Driver v3.0aAs for Intel-based Macs with OS X (v10.4.4 or later). There isn't one for PowerPC 10.4.
I CAN print a supposed 4x6 borderless print using Page Setup and "4x6 Borderless" setting for Paper Size but it doesn't come out borderless -- it has borders. There is a 5x7 setting but it doesn't say borderless.
Any help with this problem? I really would like to see the "Sheet Feeder - Borderless" in my Printer List again and do some true bordeless printing!
    Thanks!!
    PowerMac FW800 (G4), iMac G4 800 SuperDrive   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Thank you so much that was a big help.
After you do that, though, you have to click on the Page Setup drop down menu and select Borderless Sheet Feeder instead of Standard from the list -- that's the part I wasn't doing. It defaults to "Standard", whatever that is, and doesn't make the Borderless Printing available if you don't change it.
After that, though, I couldn't get the border even when I wanted one (which I do sometimes) using the RX500 regular setting (NOT borderless) -- it's makes about a 1/10" border instead of a 1/2" one.
FWIW I found that if you then delete Borderless Sheet Feeder (that I tried so hard to get!) from the Printer List and re-start the computer you will then have true border printing again! Re-install Borderless driver to get true borderless again (ugh). I guess I'll have to do that because sometimes I want borderless and other times I don't.
    Thanks!!

  • Borderless printing in Aperture 2

I just upgraded to Aperture 2.0 and I can no longer make borderless prints on my Canon Pixma Pro9500. I ran the "Printer Calibration" wizard that is supposed to center the image but it made no difference. Here is my workflow using 8x10 paper.
    Edit Image
    Crop to 8x10 proportions
Select "8x10 borderless" as media size in printer dialog box
Select "Fill Page" under "Scale to..." menu
Move "Border Width" slider to "0"
    Print
I get a small border all the way around the image, the same image will print fine from PS CS3 or Lightroom.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    JB,
The trick to solving this is making an adjustment within the "Printer Settings" from the Aperture print dialogue box. This is the same place where you select paper type and print quality. In the drop down menus select "Borderless Printing." Here you can adjust the amount of extension on your borderless prints. If I have the slider all the way to the left, to "min", I get the same very slight white border all the way around the edge of my prints with either my iP8500 or iP6700D. Moving the slider one step to the right gets rid of the white border and gives me a true borderless print.
Now, the catch is I lose just a bit of the image on the bottom and top. Not much, but a a few pixels. I've learned to crop a little bit wider to accommodate. I hope this helps with your issue.

Getting dull colors while printing under Windows Vista from Print Manager or any application (Photoshop CS3). Colors are as expected (ok) while I print those photos under XP virtual machine (from under Vista Ultimate).
Another problem is stupid results with borderless printing.Though I prepare dimension of the photo to match paper size (lets say 4x6inch x 600dpi), using borderless printing option, I always get printouts cutted  about 0,2 inch on EVERY side.

As the latest version of the Vista driver is 10.0 (02/2008) and I use it, I do not know how to use my Photosmart for photo printing under Vista...
