Borderless printing - trailing white edge

I've far more experience printing from PCs than Macs (used to use QImage on those), and am well aware of issues like overspray/borderless extension settings to rpoduce borderless prints.
Anyhow I cannot get a 6x4" borderless print to print without as trailing white edge from iPhoto - not sure if this is because there's no page setup menu option.
When you click print, the first screen shows the photo filling the 'canvas', but if I print there's a 7mm trailing white edge.
This white edge is also evident if I hit preview rather than printing straight off.
I can print the photo from Preview/Lightroom with no problems with whta seem to me to be identical settings.
Printer is a Canon iP5000.
I don't think iPhoto is centering the image properly on the page as an equal amount of photo is chopped off the top.
There's at least 1 other thread but no solution on that.
I'll try the other printers to see if I have problems with those too.
AC

Did you ever get a solution to your problem? I was looking into another issue and saw your post. I use a Canon i850 printer and in the print preview window I get a white sliver at the top and right of the image. However, it does not print that way.
Have you tried going to the Advance print menus and under the Paper Handling-Destination Paper Size menu section checked the radio button "Scale to fit paper size:"?
Do you Twango?

  • Print booklet - white edge problem

Does anyone know why PDFs I've made with 'Print Booklet' always have a white edge on left side only?
I'm trying to make a 2-up saddle stitch PDF from an A4 InDesign 12 page document with 3mm bleed. In Print Settings I select 'Adobe PDF 9.0' printer, 'Use document bleed settings', with paper size big enough to include A3 with a 3mm bleed all round. Yet I always get a PDF in the correct page size (303 x 426mm) with the bleed on every side except the left - which is just blank (3mm white edge).
In the preview section of 'Print Booklet' it looks like the bleed is there, but mysteriously vanishes when output (it's as if either Acrobat or InDesign knows the bleed is there but omits the artwork in the left had bleed only.
    Any help much appreciated.

    In the Print Booklet
    In the Margins Section
Put in the depth of the bleed all around.
    go to your print settings.
    Choose PDF
    Change the width to custom
Add in the bleed amount in the page size.
Then on the Bleed area insert the amount of bleed you need.
    Then say ok
I just did it here and it worked just fine.

  • Borderless printing bug

iPhoto shifts the whole photo on the canvas when you try to print borderless giving a large trailing white edge.
I see this with 2 Canon printers that print fine from other apps.

    AC:
I get the same thing with my i850. The white edge is one of of the 6" sides. I don't get it with the Epson R200 printer.
But I did find a fix for it. Click on the Advanced printing options button and select Paper Handling in the Copies & Pages menu. There select the "Scale to fit paper size" radio button and uncheck scale down only. The size should read 4x6 borderless. That got rid of the white border along the one long side of my 4x6.

  • 4x6 print in PSE12:cannot crop thin white edge rt.side and bottom

When printing 4x6 prints in PSE12, the print leaves a thin, white edge on the right side and bottom of the print. I have attempted to correct this through cropping, but the thin white edge remains. Computer is HP notebook running windows 7, printer is HP 7510. I should not have to cut the edge off the print to correct this. Please help!
    Thank you so much.

Possibly a printer limitation. Check the printer driver for a 'borderless' setting and see if that makes any difference. Also check your photo paper size - 4" x 6" and 10cm x 15cm are often used interchangeably, but they are actually different sizes.

  • White border on borderless prints under Snow Leo

After upgrading to 10.6, my trusty old Canon i950 photo printer ceased to be able to print borderless prints. No matter how I've tweaked the image fit and borderless printing settings, the 4x6 prints I've made all have a white stripe on them. The first prints had a border on both one of the long sides and one of the short sides of the print, and after changing all applicable settings to cover the paper as fully as possible, I now only have a stripe on one of the long paper sides.
I've never had this issue under 10.4 or 10.5, so the issue must be somehow related to the new Canon print drivers.
Any ideas on which settings to check? Anyone else with similar issues?

Sorry took a while to answer:
    * Yes, using the drivers that come with Snow Leopard.
    * Deleting and re-adding the queue didn't help.
    * Printing using Adobe Lightroom. I double-checked all the borderless printing settings and after setting all the available over-printing settings to the max (so they're printing more over the paper than on Leo), I got rid of the white stripe on the short edge but am still getting a white non-printing stripe on the long edge of the 4"x6" print.

  • Printing Photos with AirPrint to Epson Px730Wd produces white edge

    All,
I have just bought a new Epson PX730WD and have a small problem when printing photos via AirPrint.  I always get a 3mm white edge on the right hand side of my photos.  Printing the same photo from Epson iPrint app works fine and it works from my PC as well, but using AirPrint via the native photo app always produces this white edge. Very annoying as I prefer to use the native functions when available, but cannot be doing with this edge.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Chris

I have contacted Epson Support and they told me to try the iPrint app which I did and it worked fine.  So the problem seems to lie somewhere between airprint and the printer recognising what is being sent via airprint.  I can't find an Epson forum where these type of issues are discussed.  I was hoping someone else may have an tried airprint with a PX730wd to see what results they get.

  • Borderless printing in Aperture 2

I just upgraded to Aperture 2.0 and I can no longer make borderless prints on my Canon Pixma Pro9500. I ran the "Printer Calibration" wizard that is supposed to center the image but it made no difference. Here is my workflow using 8x10 paper.
    Edit Image
    Crop to 8x10 proportions
Select "8x10 borderless" as media size in printer dialog box
Select "Fill Page" under "Scale to..." menu
Move "Border Width" slider to "0"
    Print
I get a small border all the way around the image, the same image will print fine from PS CS3 or Lightroom.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    JB,
The trick to solving this is making an adjustment within the "Printer Settings" from the Aperture print dialogue box. This is the same place where you select paper type and print quality. In the drop down menus select "Borderless Printing." Here you can adjust the amount of extension on your borderless prints. If I have the slider all the way to the left, to "min", I get the same very slight white border all the way around the edge of my prints with either my iP8500 or iP6700D. Moving the slider one step to the right gets rid of the white border and gives me a true borderless print.
Now, the catch is I lose just a bit of the image on the bottom and top. Not much, but a a few pixels. I've learned to crop a little bit wider to accommodate. I hope this helps with your issue.

  • Creating PDF brochure for printing: Remove white margin

    Hi guys,
I created a brochure in Idesign which has a black background color.
In order to print the brochure I want to create a PDF (with the right order of pages, e.g. page 1 next to page 8, 2 next to 7 etc.) via the "print function".
The page order is not a problem, but unfotunately I always get a white margin although there is no such in the original indesign document.
(When using the normal "export function" of Indesign there is no white margin, but then I cannot create a PDF with the right page order for printing...)
Has anyone an idea how to solve this?
Thanks for your help in advance!
    Best,
    Chris

In order to print with bleed you generally need to print onto a larger sheet and trim. I'm guessing you are trying to print this on a desktop printer of some sort, and unless specifically designed for "borderless" printing they always have a border along the edge that cannont be imaged.

  • Lightroom 2.6 Problem Printing Borderless Prints on Epson R800

I have used Lightroom to print borderless prints (using the paper setting - borderless -sheet feeder) and all has worked fine until I downloaded the new Apple Epson driver.  I found this new Apple driver did not work well as the colours were washed out.  So, I went back to the current Epson driver for Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.2) and I can print again.  (The prints are now a bit dark but that can be addressed).
However, I now find I cannot print borderless prints (i.e. with no white edge) via Lightroom 2.6 using the current Epson driver and paper setting of borderless sheet feeder.  The printer responds with "media not loaded correctly".  When I go to Photoshop CS4 or iPhoto, I can print borderless prints. So, something is going on in Lightroom.
Any suggestions?  Except of course to print borderless prints from Photoshop.

    Sam,
I am still working on a similar problem with one of my Epson printers. The newer Epson R280 (may be R290 outside the US) works just fine with borderless. The older SP 2200 does not. I have been in communication with Epson, but not yet resolved. For most printers the newest software referenced for Leopard is with EasyPrint, but with this old 2200 the driver referenced is still not nearly as recently released as the EasyPrint frame work. The reply I got back from Epson was not satisfactory because it ignored the fact I am connected to my 2200 via Firewire and not USB, and all reference in the reply was to USB connection. Despite doubting the usefulness of the reply, I will have to move my 2200 much closer to the computer to try connecting with USB, and I simply have not tried it, since I doubt it will help.
My issues with borderless on the SP 2200 are also present when printing borderless from Photoshop CS3 and from Pages. Thus it seems more a problem with Leopard than with Aperture.
Sorry to not be more helpful or hopeful, but I think drivers for some printers are not fully tuned to printing in Leopard.

  • Borderless printing on non HP paper

    Hi everyone,
i got an issue with my HP Photosmart Pro B9180 and 10.5.2. It´s not possible to print borderless on papers witch require the icc of HP Premium paper.
I need to print on a non HP Paper but with the profile of HP Premium paper. When borderless printing is activated the dialog-box switches back to HP Advanced Paper.
The HP Support said, i´ve to take another profile. But there is no other profile than the icc of HP Premium to match the color.
I´ve got the latest Apple and HP updates but it still doesn´t work.
    Any ideas?
    cheers,
    Flo

This is very interesting. What is the width ( from the short edge of the paper) of the graphics? What is the prominent color of the graphic? What is the size, est. weight  and type of the christmas paper?

  • Borderless printing with Adobe reader or acrobat and HP Officejet Pro 8100

    Hello,
When printing borderless with my Pro 8100 the printed pdf moves about 2mm to te left on the paper. (White vertical strip on the right side is the result and on the left side something is missing!).
What causes the problem seems to be that the HP Pro 8100 printsoftware makes the A4-format a littlebit larger (214,55 x 300,91) than an actual A4-format (210,00 x 297,00) when you choose borderless printing.
Therefore, I suppose that the pdf shoud be centered before printing. Adobe reader doesn't seem to have the possiblity to center the page however.
    Any tips?

The borderless printing option is intended to print photo's on photo paper.  When printing borderless the print is slightly oversized to eliminate (or reduce) to chance for white edges due to media skey.  Depending on your operating system you may have a setting in the Advanced tab of the driver for Overspray, set this to minimum and see if it helps.

  • Borderless printing from Windows 7 64 to a shared printer on XP Pro system.

I recently bought a new dv7 HP laptop with Windows 7 64 bit to replace a Dell laptop running XP.  The XP laptop and other XP systems can print to my HP PSC2410 connected to a XP pro system fine.  The XP systems can print both 8x10, 5x6 or 4x6 borderlessly fine.  However, the new HP laptop with Windows 7 does NOT even have the option of 4x6 or 5x7size paper!  If I connect the printer directly to the win7 system, that works, but when I print to the same printer via the XP pro "shared printer", most of the paper size options go away.
I found a post that shows how to present a 4x6 paper size option to the win7 system which now works, but borderless printing to the 4x6 paper doesn't work.  The 4x6 photos all print with thin white borders.  Please tell me I don't have to replace my PSC2410 printer in order to print from my new windows 7 system (borderlessly) via a network!

  • Unexplained white edge on eps when placing into Illustrator (CS6)

I'm manually stepping CS3 or CS6 generated eps files inside a master Illustrator file.  The EPS looks perfect when I make it, i.e. no white edge. Also when I close and reopen the EPS then view it- no white edge. As soon as I drag or file/place the eps file into an Illustrator file, the white edge appears.  This happens in CS3 or CS6. This white edge actually prints "as is".  Can't get rid of it.  See screen shot.

    Good morning Will,
I tried placing ai files into my master imposition files this morning and all went very well.  Thank you again enlightening me on importing files.
There is one file that I'm still having problems with, even using the ai import. This is the file that generated my eps white edge issue.
When I bring the masked ai file into the imposition file I get about a 1/8" white area on the left and right sides.  And I noticed the file width changed from 8.75" to 8.8+.  So somewhere during the placing of the file a .25" edge is being aded to my incoming ai file.  I've checked my preferences and such and do not see where I could be adding white to the sides of my placed file. My masked file seems to be exact at 8.75".
Also, I tried importing other masked ai files and all did well--- no white edges. I then created a new imposition file and the white lines appeared again on the masked ai file when I placed it.
Now I think there's a problem with the original art file itself.  If you could offer any help, I'd greatly appreciate it as it would help me in the future if (when) this issues arises again.
I've attached my impo file, the original art file and the masked ai file I used for placing.

  • J4540 "Borderless Printing Error"

I'm attempting to print a booklet, side-fold brochure.  My paper size setting is Borderless 8.5X11.  I've printed this brochure many times before using the exact same settings with no problems.  However, when I tried to print today, I had only a black ink cartridge installed; I got an error message reading "Borderless Printing Error: Borderless printing cannot occur with only the Black Ink Cartridge installed. To print a Borderless Photo, install either a tri-color print cartridge, or a photo print cartridge."
Even though the brochure I'm printing is black & white (and it was set on "print in grayscale"), I did have a new Officejet 901 Tri-Color Ink Cartridge handy. So I installed it and received a message that the new cartridge had been detected.  Then I scanned the sheet to align cartridges.  The printer said something like "Installation successful".  However, everytime I try to print this brochure page, I still get the same error message:  "Borderless Printing Error: Borderless printing cannot occur with only the Black Ink Cartridge installed. To print a Borderless Photo, install either a tri-color print cartridge, or a photo print cartridge."
I tried re-starting, unplugging, etc., but I can't get it to print -- even though I'm using the same settings I have before. I went online and tried printing a couple of color pages and it printed them out just fine -- so the color cartridge is working. Not sure why I keep getting this message.
I'm no expert on this stuff, and any help/advice would be appreciated.  Thanks a bunch,
    Jason

I wish I could help you, and I'm unhappy to see that you put this message up in April and have no response yet.
I too get this "cannot print" message - not that the cartridge is missing, but that I cannot do borderless printing with ONLY the black cartridge. I have the color cartridge installed, I've done prints of the same pages before, and I cannot seem to get the printer (HP Photosmart C4780 wireless) printer to work when that message comes up. I'd love to get some help from HP.
Some things I've tried. On my iMac I shut down all applications that are not necessary, and relaunch my finder. I think that clears out its brain a little. Then I'll try to print again (It just worked - same exact page).
Also, sometimes I open the HP Utility and ask it to print a test page. That also seems to clear it's brain. After that it worked also.
I think there's a sometimes "glitch" in the program. Cleaning things out as much as possible, and starting over again seem to help.  GOOD LUCK!

  • Borderless Printing Problems - C309g-m

I have developed a problem when trying to create borderless prints with my C309g-m All-In-One.  Recently I have begun to see a margin on the right side and bottom of prints that are supposed to be borderless.  When I first set up the printer, borderless printing was as expected.  It seems that after an update (as best I recall) the borderless prints began to appear with the white stripes (between 0.1 and 0.2 inches) as noted above.  The white stripes occur whether printing 4x6 (my normal print size) or 8.5x11. (the border stripes appear slightly bigger on this size).
The stripes appear whether i print from Qimage or Photoshop so they do not appear to be specific to the software used.  Qimage shows a fixed border of 0.0017" on the right and bottom with 0's for the left and top.  Any clues as to what might have happened and how I can "fix" it to once again print borderless.

    Hi folks,
I understand you are all experiencing a white border on the right and bottom of your prints when printing borderless.
The first thing I would suggest is for you to do a copy of a borderless photo to test the hardware. If the hardware prints with no issue then the issue is related to the computer, possibly the settings or the driver.
If the issue persists please post back with the following information.
Operating system and version. Mac or Windows.
    Program you are printing from.
Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you.
