Borders in CS4
is there a way to make custom borders in cs4 other than the basic color you get when you canvas size it? i.e....stars, hearts, buttons...etc???
There are a few borders installed with Photoshop if you go to the Actions panel and load the "Frames" set.
Also 100s on the Adobe Exchange.

Black borders, Adobe CS4 & Canon Eos 550D
Hi All,
Im pretty new to the video scene, and ive got adobe cs4 for a while but never
used it alot, now im recording video's with a canon eos550d with a great quality,
but allways after my bounce there appears 2 black borders up and down.
the video output format from the canon is: 1920 by 1080 .MOV H264
when I import it in a default page template called "DV PAL Widescreen 48K"
and using the youtube HD setting the output gives 2 black borders at the top of the movie and the bottom.
I tried to put the project to 1080p but then ive got no possibility to hit "enter" and a quick offline render..
is there a way to fix this ?
Thanks in advance,
NickYou want a sequence with 1080p square pixels, for a frame size of 1920 x 1080. The presets in CS 4 are in the AVCHD section that would match this, dependent on the frame rate at which you shot and whether your camera shoots progressive or interlaced video. Chose the one that matches the frame rate you actually shot at, you can export at a different frame size and frame rate after editing. The fact that the presets are designed for editing video compressed using AVCHD doesn't really matter as long as the sequence settings match the actually footage.

Hi All,
I design email templates using only tables but the design view options in cs4 only provide a huge 3px border in order to display the tables. In older versions of macromedia etc the table view is only 1px wide which makes designing a whole lot easier.
When I add tables within tables it adds more spacing and looks way off and it also looks off in browsers, causing me to have to increase and decrease padding sure this is no way to create table even if they have no borders and the table width is already fixed?
I have tried turning borders off in visual aids but there is no option to have just a single line to demonstrate a border!!
I can't work like this, can anybody help me or is this just the way borders are displayed in cs4 for the pc???Hi Guys, thanks for getting back to me.
the problem is purely about design view display and not about coding.
Below is how CS4 displays borders with two lines which I find difficult to decipher:
Then below is Macromedia DM 8 and this how I want the borders to look, with single lines to display the tables.
This may just be the way Abobe have decided to display tables in design view and there may not be any option to change it but if you know any way to change it I would be most greatful.
Thanks again.

HELP DREAMWEAVER CS4 NOW SHOWS BORDERS AROUND SPACERS
Really, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
What the heck is going on with this company?
Is Abode just trying to do all they can to destroy the once great Macromedia products? Or chase away shareholders?
I made a HUGE mistake using Dreamweaver CS4, to "upgrade" my personal website, and suddenly my spacers are viewable with gray borders around them. AND all my flash content is no longer viewable.
Sorry, Adobe I'm busy trying to make a living in a really bad economy, and actually have a personal life.
I don't want to spend my life trying to figure out your attempts at making new code.
They make these large sloppy programs, worse and worse and worse with each version release.
Is there a way to get rid of these horrible looking spacer borders without having to go back to school and REDO my engineering degree?
Geez!
I give Adobe an F for effort.The apparent spaces with borders are actually missing images which you have not uploaded to the images folder.
The files

and
http://www.stackjones.com/images/white%20spacer.jpg
do not exist on the server. -
Dreamweaver CS4 - Can't see table cells and borders
Hello you all. I just started using CS4 and whenever there is a white background I can't see any of the table cell or main borders.
I went to View>Visual Aids>Table Borders and it is on, but I can't seem to find the area I need to change the color to view it on white.I just remember the previous versions would allow you to change the dotted line color that indicated the table and cell borders.
Must say I can't ever remember that being a preference in any previous version of DW.
Sadly, it looks like I will be using tables to set up my site. Haven't adopted CSS as much as I'd like at this point.
Now's as good a time as any to start with CSS from the ground up.
Try one of the pre-made templates in DW under File > New -
CS4 table borders visual aid does not display
I am using CS3 and now CS4 (upgrade) on an Mac with a website
built on tables
The background to the page is 'black'
In CS3 the table borders appear using the visual aid as
'white on black'
In CS4 they don't appear as they seem to be 'black on black'
Does anyone know how to change this behavior???There are many things about the Mac platform's UI/OS that are
different.
For example, you cannot import a Word Document on the Mac OS
but you can on
the PC.

Black borders problew when exporting from Premiere CS4
Buenos dias, komrads! Just a few days ago I found rather trivial trouble exporting video from Pemiere CS4. Here they are:
A. shvi531.mp4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3L5Lr6VZBE
Export settings:
640x360 - Source video, 640x360 - Output video
Source Crop settings. Left:55; Top:0; Right: 56; Bottom:0. Aspect ratio: 16:9
Format: H.264
Tv Standard: NTSC
Widescreen 16:9
Profile: High
Level: 4.2
VBR: 1 pass
Target Bitrate: 25
Keyframe: 5
Output export settings: Black borders.
B. shvi531_2withoutBorders.mp4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uImumNAHON8
Export settings:
640x360 - Source video, 640x360 - Output video
Source Crop settings. Left:55; Top:0; Right: 56; Bottom:0. Aspect ratio: 16:9
Format: H.264
Tv Standard: NTSC
Widescreen 16:9
Profile: High
Level: 4.2
VBR: 1 pass
Target Bitrate: 25
Keyframe: 5
>>Attention<< Here is the quesition: How can I get the quality of the first video (A. shvi531.mp4) but without borders. Than this video go straight to youtube.
Sea God bless you, guys!
P.S. I searched up this forum, but didn`t find the troubleshoot.
With love from Dominican Republic, Ilya.Maybe try starting project with the same exact dimensions etc of your source footage and then export the same settings ? It's kinda tricky sometimes due to frame ratios ( 4:3, 16:9 etc ) and specs for ntsc or pal etc.. but if you use desktop custom settings you might be able to do what you want ...for youtube...
I didnt look at the samples you posted cause of my security settings.

DW CS4 Horizontal Spry drop down menu not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer 8
Hi,
I have created a horizontal Spry drop down menu in Dreamweaver CS4 with my own background images. I have done various modifications to the CSS script to accommodate the style and feel needed; including making the main buttons' height twice the size of the sub menu buttons and some alignments. It seems to work different depending which browser is used.
It works well in Google Chrome.
It works well in Firefox with the exception that if any of the buttons are clicked, thereafter a thin black line is diplayed horizontally across center of the top main buttons when the mouse rolls over them. I would like to correct this but is not nearly as bad as the problem I'm having in Internet Explorer 8.
Here is my biggest concern and I would greatly appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this matter.
Once opened in Internet Explorer 8 the main navigation buttons appear as they should. IE8 prompts me the following: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options..". Once I allow IE8 to run scripts or ActiveX controls, the background image disappears and only shows on any menu or submenu button when the mouse rolls over that particular button. Can someone please help.
The menu can be seen at work by clicking on this link:

SpryMenuBar.js
This file handles the JavaScript for Spry Menu Bar. You should have no need
to edit this file. Some highlights of the MenuBar object is that timers are
used to keep submenus from showing up until the user has hovered over the parent
menu item for some time, as well as a timer for when they leave a submenu to keep
showing that submenu until the timer fires.

Thanks in advance for any of your help.
Jose H.Hello Nancy,
I was troubleshooting For the next 8 hours after my post here and eventually I got it right, I uploaded the files to the test server and at the time did not have the chance to post the solution here. This is why, as you saw, it is working correctly now. Both the CSS and HTML files needed modifications. While working on the code I had to run IE8, Chrome and Firefox simultaneously and refresh all three after every change in the code because what would fix the problem in one would cause a problem for the other.
In addition to the problems listed in my original post, there were also other graphical issues in IE8, such as; the main menu buttons without sub-menus would only display at half their size vertically. The border around the buttons would not display despite that the background images were rendered in Photoshop as flattened JPEGs with boarders as part of the background image. Being so, I removed all borders from the CSS script.
By the way.. the IE8 security measure did pop up while working from the server.
Anyhow for those of you who are experiencing similar problems you can take a look at the working code bellow and compare it to the initial code. I've included detail comments on every line I have changed, modified or added.
Good luck.. as I know it can become a complicated task when creating custom Spry menus.

In dreamweaver CS4, I can't make border for single cell
Hi folks,
Having given up trying to make a single cell border in the dreamweaver CS4 template, I reverted to an html page and put in my own header, 2 columns and footer as cells in the html table. I know there's html code for adding borders to single cell, but I can't find it. I hope someone can give me a sample line of html code for giving a cell a border on left side and on right side, including 1px solid color border. Anyone?Not sure if this is what you want, at least it will give you an example

#aside {height: 400px; width: 228px; float: left; border-right: 1px solid #060; border-left: 1px solid #060; background: #CCC;}
#footer {height: 50px; background: #060; clear: both;}

Table borders show up with Firefox or IE but not Safari (Win or MAC)
This very simple site (http://www.brandondean.net) has two table borders that show up under FF and IE but not Safari (either Win v4.0 or Safari for MAC, same result). I'm not an expert but I did the work using Dreamweaver 2004 MX as XHTML compliant, tested every page at W3C.org to make sure they comply with XHTML, and they do (except for my not putting in "alt" on images). I even downloaded Dreamweaver CS4 to run the "clean up the code" command and nothing is fixing the problem. I'm hoping someone out there has seen this before and can help us out. Thx.
Hi Gary,
It's probably just because the border widths you are specifying are too small (or WebKit is interpreting picas differently to Firefox/IE - I say WebKit as the same problem is visible in Google Chrome and that uses WebKit like Safari as well).
Try setting using this instead:
.borders {
font-family: Verdana;
font-size: 10px;
font-style: normal;
font-weight: normal;
font-variant: normal;
color: #cccccc;
text-decoration: none;
border: 1px solid #888888;
That seems to do the trick for Firefox and Chrome on this Linux machine I'm using at the moment. -
Can anyone help me with rotating pictures and square shapes in illustrator cs4.
When i rotate a square/rectangle or picture it seems to distort the shape and picture. Say I rotate something 30 degrees by using the menu or free drag. the square/rectangle doesn't maintain it's 90 degree angles. You can notice it's kind of warped some.
Someone said hold down shift and I did all that does is lock the rotation to 45 degrees.....
I'm on a pc.
ThanksWhich I wonder why that is even in there?! If it will throw off things.
CRTs are glass screens coated with dots of phospor that light up when excited by an electron beam. They don't have physical "borders" for each of the "pixels" they render. So they are much more forgiving about displaying different aspect ratio images. An LCD monitor is made up of discrete cells. Set it to an aspect ratio by which the number of cells is not divisible and you get not only the ugly disproportionate scale, but also a hideous blurring effect.
It never ceases to amaze me the number of users (even mechanical engineers) who tolerate this, as if completely oblivious to it. It's also amazing to me how many people also watch movies on supposedly "high def" TVs which display Sandra Bullock's (and everyone else's) head at 1.5 times its proportional width, and never seem to notice.
I set my monitor to that native resolution and I believe that fixed things. Only thing is all my icons etc are really small.
If the size is a problem, use a setting that is the same aspect ratio as, and half the pixel count of the native resolution. In other words, tell your monitor to use four of its hardware cells to display each pixel, instead of one. But if you choose a setting that effectively tells it to use, say, 1.5 cells for each pixel, sharpnes is...well...going down the tube, because it can't actually do that.
Me, I always set my LCDs to their actual hardware resolution at their native aspect ratio.

CS4 and Yosemite? [subject edited by moderator]
I recently upgraded my mac to Yosemite. I use the 2012 CS4 Dreamweaver. 1. is it compatible with Yosemite (I had to upgrade some other applications such as FInale) 2. I can only open the properties in CSS and Html, NO OTHER functions such as block, background, borders etc....
DO I need to upgrade my version of Dreamweaver (:() or simply reinstall the version that I already have?
ThanksHi,
I haven't seen any issues related to CS4 on Yosemite. Either there are no issues with CS4 on Yosemite, or people that have had issues have not reported it. Can you try a clean uninstall Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 and reinstall your software? Let us know if you still have issues.
Just saw Nancy's reply and wanted to add to my post.. Some bugs have been reported for the latest version on Yosemite as well, and the product team is fixing them for the next release. As far as I know, none of these issues are show stoppers.
Thanks,

Hi Folks.
I'm using Premiere CS4 and am compiling a piece of footage from a 3D rendered scene I created, and sound I recorded. The source render file is 400 x 300. However, when I go to export the finished movie, also at 400 x 300, I get black borders on the left and right side of the movie which I don't want. I'm fairly new to Premiere so can anyone give me some ideas of why this is happening and how I can resolve it? I want to render out the final movie, at 400 x 300, the same resolution as the base 3D rendered file, without having those black borders there.You're welcome. Happy editing.
Cheers
Eddie

Use of Audio & Video in Encore Menus (CS4)
Hello,
I'm using Encore CS4 on Windows 7. I've searched for some tutorials or other posts on the topic, which were helpful, but incomplete.
I want to add a video preview with audio on the main menu of a standard DVD (not blu-ray). However, I want to have the video preview placed in the lower left quadranth of the menu (with the navigation button flanking it on the right lower quadranth and titles centered on the upper half). What would be the best way to achieve that?
A couple ways I tried to do this:
1) I tried to use use of the video buttons that come with Encore's library, but I found it was too cumbersome trying to remove the text and borders that came with the video buttons in Photoshop. It didn't have the look I aiming for. Essentially, all I really wanted was a simple rectangular box to house the preview video. So, I made a rectangular box in Photoshop as a layer and saved the menu in Encore. I added to the video to the rectangular box in Encore and selected the animate buttons as required. There was no audio, so I linked the audio from the file in the properties box of the motion menu. Unfortunately, once I rendered the motion menu, the audio was out of sync when I previewed it, and I didn't know how to remedy that.
2) Another approach I tried was to simply lasso the audio and video clips in the Properties section of the motion menu with the video file I had (mpeg), The audio was synced, but the video filled the entire background of the menu with the titles and buttons over the video. Is there anyway to restrict this video to a certain section of the menu or will Encore only allow it to take up the entire background?
Also, with both approches, I noticed when I previewed the menu (after rendering, of course), every time I scrolled across one of the navigation buttons, the preview video would restart versus just playing uninterupted. Is there anyway to set this up without having the video restart like that? [One thought: does this happen only because I am previewing the video and wouldn't happen once the project is built?]
I'm not very savvy with After Effects, but would using that help me achieve what I'm aiming for? Anyway, I appreicate any thoughts or insight on how I should approach this. Thanks in advance for your time! I really appreicate it!
MickAs long as you have only one video you want to play in the window, you should have no problem.
Preview may not display correctly.
The easiest way to do what you want can be done in Premiere just as well as After Effects. All you are creating is the background video and audio. Any titles, buttons, and highlights can be done in Encore or Photoshop. I prefer PS.
In PR, bring in the menu background you want to see behind the background video. Add your movie over this. Use motion settings to resize and put the video where you want it. If you want to frame it, add a title with a graphic on the next track up.
Export this as a demuxed mpeg (m2v and ac3 or wav).
Import to EN and add a background video and audio. -
Does someone know why Dreamweaver CS4 puts green borders around my thumbnails. I can't find anything in my code that designates that AND I don't want it. While I'm working in Dreamweaver it shows blue borders (which I don't want either).

Thanks for your help.To remove borders from all linked images, put this in your CSS code:
a img {border: none}
DW doesn't add borders to linked images. HTML does.
