Boris 3D formatting

When I create a title in the viewer it looks great but when I lay it into the sequence the formatting is all messed up. Usually spread out and the spacing is all wrong. Any ideas? I'm using the Boris that was bundled with the FCStudio 5.1
Dual G5 2.0 OSX 10.4.6
Any ideas?

Are you using Bizzaro fonts? Boris' kerning (letter spacing)is not always perfect but is usually close. Also you should upgrade to 5.1.2 and see if that clears things up.

  • Not able to create a parameter of type STRING_TABLE in BOR

    Hi All,
I want to send a table of type STRING_TABLE from webdynpro to workflow.
I have created this table of type STRING_TABLE in webdynpro as well as in workflow successfully.
But i am not able to create a parameter of type STRING_TABLE in BOR event as well as method.
It is giving me error as "Data type STRING_TABLE can not be used".
So how can i send my internal table value of STRING_TABLE type into workflow?
    Regards,
    Amar

    Hi,
I agree Vinoth in certain aspects. It is not possibly the best idea to try to store a string table in workflow container. There are certain limitations in the container (255 characters) in certain situations and you might find yourself in problems in the future. So, consider converting the string data into some other format - OR you could also check if you can limit somehow the lenght in WDA (but of course then you will still have the same problem about the string table data type).
If you want to try to it, you should be able to create your own table type of string. I don't remember the details but there might be something "special" about the STRING_TABLE (only available in WDA or whatever), and that's why you are seeing the error. So, try to create your own table type that has string data type as an row. Then use that.
But as I said, you might see some problems. For example, if you try to read the container with SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER, it will just return you the first 255 characters of each row, etc. There are ways to overcome these kind of problems, but just to let you know, they might not be that simple.

  • Can't import .RTF into Boris Title Crawl without crashing

I laid out my titles in Word, saved as an .RTF and then when I clicked import in Boris Title Generator (crawl) and selected the .RTF file, FCP crashes.
I tried opening a new empty project and doing the title there - same problem.
I tried cutting my .RTF into two parts. Same problem.
I've spent hours tonight first trying to layout in columns and better spacing in Boris (leading command made the lines crazy after render), so finally thought to import but is crashing.
    Any help very much appreciated.

What format are you working in? If it's DV, simply create a new file in photoshop using the DV preset and then adjust the vertical dimension to whatever is appropriate. Post back if you want, and I'll look at some of the crawls I've done and see what they're dimensions are.
If you want to send me your email address (my email is in my profile) I'll try and put together a small project with a end crawl or two from some recent projects, along with the photoshop files.
The trick is to create a separate sequence for the end crawl with the field dominance set to none. You animate the title crawl in this sequence and then render out a selfcontained qt and bring it in to your complete sequence.

  • Titles created in Boris title crawl disappear after render

I build a title roll in Boris Title Crawl for a weekly TV show that I edit in HDV 1080i60 (that is how I get the footage) that airs on Dish Network and DirecTV. I build the end credits in Boris Title Crawl using the "Roll" animation style. The roll will appear in the perfect position on the screen. However, sometimes over time and subsequent rendering, the titles will disappear completely from the screen, and I believe they are being positioned far off to the side outside of the viewable area. The wireframe for the roll remains in the correct position, it just appears empty. If I re-open Boris Title Crawl and then click "apply" again, the mispositioning is corrected, at least for a while. If I try to export using quicktime conversion to another format (Quicktime Movie with H.264 compression), the roll might disappear again, and the movie will export without the roll. This has only been happening since upgrading to FCP 7, I don't recall it every happening with FCP 6. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I don't use Boris regularly, but when I have, I never encountered this, and I doubt it's related to upgrading to 7. If I understand correctly what you're describing, the changes could be caused by any number of things – like whatever cutting took place on your TL "over time and subsequent rendering" causing re-renders.
How many v tracks do you have and is the crawl on a separate track? Consider exporting the credits clip as a QT movie and reimport it.
And somewhat off topic, typically I get better (and far more predictable) results by exporting my sequence as a QTMovie (current settings) and do all encoding (e.g., H.264) in Compressor.
    Good luck.

  • Can anyone post screen caps of a mini drive formatted to a Mac for me?

"B Noir" and I recently fixed my iPod mini by deleting excess files, which we think were created when (many moons ago) I plugged the mini into a mac at school. My Windows-formatted mini was showing some files that bore an uncanny resemblence to a mac's file system. So could anyone post screencap pictures of the Ipod drive, iPod_Control (which is a hidden folder) and iPod_Control/Music?

I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.
And there other repair options, too. Powerbook Medic http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/pages.php?pageid=67 offers reliable repairs, and quotes prices well under Apple's.

  • Inserting formatted text

How can I insert formatted text into the sequence, keeping it transparent so I can show it over another clip? The text generator doesn't let me vary the text within one frame. So if I have, "The Doodad Theatre Production of, Don Juan" and want to make Don Juan bigger, I can't. Also, Title 3D does not show up in my popup window and I can't find a way to access it.
    Thanks for your help!

    Two ways to get it done;
#1. Reinstall the Boris Calligraphy plugins from your FCP install disc. Title 3D is part of that plugin bundle.
#2 Create the text in Photoshop as a TIF or PSD with a transparent backround, then import the PS file into FCP.

  • Boris 3D plugin Crashing FCP

I'm using FCP5 and having a heck of a time. Once I put some titles in the project with Boris 3D, now the project won't even load up without crashing. In the past at least I could get the project opened, and then it would crash (over 50 times in the past 2 days!).
Any solutions would be great. I already ready a past post about using Font Book to test the fonts in the system and removing any corrupted ones.. but when I validate them all, they come up with warnings, yet none were seriously damaged.
I'm at a lose. I have deleted all render files thinking that might clear up any corruption in FCP, and still no luck.
    I appreciate it.

Duplicates are no big deal really. But they will load into RAM when you launch an app that uses some form of text processing.
Use the command: Edit > *Resolve Duplicates* from the FontBook menu bar to turn them off.
EDIT: the Cambria font is installed by Microsoft Office and uses the ClearType format, which might not be compatible with Boris.
There are free TrueType versions [here|http://www.fontyukle.com/en/ara.php?ara=cambria] -you might have more luck with those.

  • What format to use in leu of Photoshop?

As a way to 'work around' the potential loss of Photoshop files if I ever need to cancel my Creative Cloud Membership I'm thinking that TIFF is able to keep layers but what about type layers, adjustment layers and other photoshop features? Just to set the groundwork for this question: Lets talk about Creative Cloud. Some of us have it some of us defer to CS6 or whatever is doing the job for us. My main concern is that with CC, you are 'stuck' to continue with the upgrades. If you decide to back out or let it die, so will all of your files and apps for CC die with it as your older versions of CS6 and older will not open the newer version files and Adobe 'LOCKS' the CC apps you have up to that point.
So there is the dilemma, just in case it would ever happen, what is the best 'savable' file format that would preserve most or all of Photoshop's features but would still open with older CS6 or older Photoshop?

All right, I'm in good company here. I like and use the full suite, building websites, publishing books and producing printed materials in both InDesign and Illustrator. There is just nothing of the main Adobe Apps that I can live without, so full bore is the way for me. I'm just realizing that it takes some precautions, just in case, if ever, I need to open that on-going InDesign project in CS6, well, I had just be ready by saving backwards, I haven't even checked but I'm sure you can, save as for the CS6 version just so I won't ever be stuck up the creek without a paddle. As far as Premiere Pro and I'm sure Audition, I'll just be sure to save all of my working files in an orderly fashion in case I ever have to re-construct the world I live in. These things can be done if they are realized and then steps taken on a regular basis over time to keep the older version files alive.
Whew, I'm just happy to be keeping up with latest versions in CC. As we all know, there are 'gates' ahead as you get older: There will be a time when you can no longer drive a car, a time when cutting back on certain activities will have to happen, maybe not ruled out altogether, but cutting back for wisdom's sake (No more zip-line trips wearing flip-flops over the grand canyon.) Anyway, In that frame of view, I'm considering what is the best, wisest way to operate Adobe CC products  NOW, so I'll be covered for the future.
Thanks for all the great input here. More More....

  • Formatting ePub in Buzzword

Hi, I would like to know if I can formatting text (bold, Italic...) when I export in .ePub format in Buzzword. Or... how I can do it . Thank you

The problem is that "my choices" made in Buzzword are not exported in
the ePub File (but, of course, are perfect in PDF, as I show you).
Maybe I need a css or something like "XML code... I don't know, but I
don't want to bore you with this stupid things
Thank you for your help, have a nice day
    Luca
    Hi Luca,
    >
I'll apologize in advance if this answer isn't quite what you need.
It sounds like you'd like to create a template where you could
import a .txt file into Buzzword and then export it to ePub and/or
PDF?  Although we don't have styles, you can easily do this using
manually using Buzzword - the italics/bold/etc. choices you assign
to the text in Buzzword will translate to the exported ePub or PDF
    document. Does this help?

  • Formatting text notes linked to BPs in PCUI

    Hello all,
In PCUI we add texts to BPs by the standard notes functionality. This is plain text without formatting possibilities.
However we would very much like to be able to add formatting like bold characters, tabs and even tables.
Does someone have any experience in this?
    Best regards,
    Boris Dingenouts

    Hi Ranjan,
Thanks for your reply. We have the solution you propose as an alternative in case we are not able to format notes. The disadvantage of using attachments is that it is not easy to report on the contents. The customer wants to have a report which includes masterdata, activity data and also (formatted) text data which is all stored in CRM.
Therefore we would prefer to have something like a HTML editor included in the PCUI which stores it's texts in the standard notes tables. I know a Mobile Sales customer who did the same in Mobile but we don't know how to do this in the PCUI.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Boris Dingenouts

  • HD & SD mixed format - ultimate output will be SD DVD.... help?

I am working on a small doc for a client who will only ever want an SD DVD as final deliverable format. This will never be broadcast. For reasons I won't bore you with, the DP we hired shot DVCPro HD 720p60. I also have some home movies to cut in and those are of course SD and 4:3.
I tried using Compressor to downconvert the HD to 10-bit uncompressed NTSC, but in final cut it didn't look so great.
I tried upconverting the SD footage to DVCPro HD 720p60. Since it is old home movies anyway, the quality isn't as crucial and I thought this was a more visually acceptable option than the downconverting had been. HOWEVER, it is now squished and the only way I can figure out how to unsquish it is to blow it up even further... pushing the limits of what is acceptable. (Also I would prefer to crop out part of the frame rather than pillarboxing.)
And finally, I'm going to end up with an SD master so how do I deal with all of this best?

Generally speaking, doing all your post in the highest resolution
and exporting down to the deliverable resolution is the way to go.
However, you have made it abundantly clear that this project will
be SD output, that some of your footage is SD home movies, and
that it will never be broadcast, so what the heck. Edit it in SD.
Set up your FCP sequence for good old DV NTSC. Bring in the
beautiful DVCPROHD footage, and let FCP convert it to SD,
which will require rendering those portions of the timeline.
Since the HD stuff has a different aspect ratio, you'll have to
decide how to crop it, using the motion tab.
Doing it this way will give you the option of changing the crop
if that suits the purposes of the edit. You could add zooms or
pans that will take advantage of the higher resolution
    before it's downrezed.

  • What's the best intermediate file format?

I use CS5 Premiere Pro for my projects to gain the benefit of the increased speed.  However, I have been forced to use CS4 for clips that have BorisFx and Boris Grafitti effects applied since Boris has not ported these plugins to 64 bit yet.  I have several animated effects that I've built over time and want to continue to use them, rather than re-inventing the wheel in AE or some other tool.
I build a new sequence in CS4, add the media clips, and place the needed effects on the clips.  This material is 1440x1080 HDV video and similarly sized photoshop stills.  I export using AME and then reimport the exported clip into CS5.  None the material contains rapidly moving subjects.
Up to now, I have been exporting these sequences using the uncompressed Microsoft AVI preset (V210? codec).  But, it occurs to me that perhaps this isn't the best preset to use for these intermediates.  Does anyone have an alternative suggestion?  I've assumed that an uncompressed format would be best to avoid generational loss from repeated compression.
    Thanks

    Thank you for your input.
I'm not as worried about real time playback as I am rendered quality.  I'll look at your suggestions over the weekend.

  • Boris titles in square pixels in a HDV 1080i timeline

My sequence is in HDV 1080i. When I create titles with Boris 3D, the format info says: Pixels: Square. Is this OK with my HDV clips?
I`m going to export all the timeline in QT convertion ProRes 422.
    Thanks.

How well it looks on an HDTV is dependent on how good the upconversion being done by the TV or DVD player is.
What you see is normal.. FCP's titlers will adapt to the format that the titles are set to be in the sequence setting. You needn't worry about is what I'm saying.

  • I install window 8 and Unfortunatly all drive format. And all drive mix, now i have only 1 DRIVE C. I want Bit locker Drive's data Back

Last sunday i install a window 8 and this window format my all drive & make it 1 drive (DRIVE C). Before all of this i have 5 drive in different size with 1 Bitlocker protect drive.
So i try data recovery software to recover my data. i got back all my data without that ( bitlocker ) protected drive.
so please guys help me how can i get back data from bitlocker protected drives.
    please please help me.

    Hi,
I sorry for your experience, but there is no way to recovery the data encryped by BitLocker untill now.
BitLocker is designed to make the encrypted drive unrecoverable without the required authentication. When in recovery mode, the user needs the recovery password or recovery key to unlock the encrypted drive. Therefore, we highly recommend
that you store the recovery information in AD DS or in another safe location.
