Boris Title 3d after export....

...looks squeezed and distorted - even to the point that it gets clipped at the top and bottom of the frames on the frames that have a bunch of text.
All updated software, late 2007 MP, sequence is HDV 1080p, 23.98, no field dominance, and I am trying to export the sequence using compressor and the iPhone VGA preset.
This sequence and workflow is the same as several other sequences that I have exported in the past, just different content - but otherwise the settings are all identical and even the titles that are being distorted are simply copies from other sequences that have worked in the past. This is really like one of those "all of a sudden" things.
This is driving me nuts because everything else in the exported quicktime looks great (images, HDV video, imported Motion graphics), but just those Boris 3D titles are squeezing and distorting - and they've never done that before. I read in one thread about someone mentioning that the Boris titles are using square pixels -- true, but still this has never been an issue upon export in the past. Anyone have any ideas - I'm under a mild deadline and this is making me look like a moron - usually not that hard to do though, I admit. Thanks in advance.

I've been having this same problem for years. Exporting a timeline, from FCP version 5 and higher, using compressor to create quicktimes always squeezes/distorts titles created with boris. If I use quicktime conversion in FCP, the titles look fine, so it seems like it must be a compressor issue. I will try exporting a stand alone quicktime then re-importing that into compressor to see if that works. For big batches, it's not really efficient to export a bunch of fullres qt's only to then re-import them into compressor to output web qt's. I'm using fcp 6.0.5 with osX 10.4.11 on a mac pro quad core. Does anyone else have insight into this?

  • CS 5.5 Title Aliased After Export

Hello, I have a strange issue with CS 5.5.  I have a 3 minute video that has 3 titles in it.  All were created with After Effects.  One of them however, although it is perfectly smooth within the viewer premiere, becomes aliased and blocky after being exported.  I'm using 1080p 24 h.264 as my export.  The other tites are fine, but for some reason this one is aliased.  What can I do to trouble shoot this?

Ok, I exported the after effects comp as quicktime with "best settings" for my render settings.  The quicktime file itself plays back fine without any aliasing.
I went back into premiere and reexamined the text in the viewer, and it turns out that the text in question is indeed aliased within premiere, so the problem must be something within premiere.  The viewer shows the file perfectly fine without any aliasing, but the program window(showing my sequence) displays the same text but aliased.  I will include a screenshot of this:

  • After exporting, the sound in some areas goes crazy

So like the title explains, after exporting the sound in a couple of areas goes crazy, like static. I tried twice, still the same result.
NB: I exported in H.264 in Apple devices 1080p, MBP retina 15 inch 2.6 GHz i7, FCPX 10.0.8
    Thank you

When in FCPX, the sound works fine (in mono) but when exported in H.264, the sound becomes static.
I recently had a similar problem, with Final Cut playing the audio fine but in the exported file the sound was static. The source of the problerm was that the audio was just slightly less than 48 kHz. After using Compressor to transcode the media with audio at 48 kHz and importing the transcoded file into Fianl Cut, the exported audio was fine.

  • Titles created in Boris title crawl disappear after render

I build a title roll in Boris Title Crawl for a weekly TV show that I edit in HDV 1080i60 (that is how I get the footage) that airs on Dish Network and DirecTV. I build the end credits in Boris Title Crawl using the "Roll" animation style. The roll will appear in the perfect position on the screen. However, sometimes over time and subsequent rendering, the titles will disappear completely from the screen, and I believe they are being positioned far off to the side outside of the viewable area. The wireframe for the roll remains in the correct position, it just appears empty. If I re-open Boris Title Crawl and then click "apply" again, the mispositioning is corrected, at least for a while. If I try to export using quicktime conversion to another format (Quicktime Movie with H.264 compression), the roll might disappear again, and the movie will export without the roll. This has only been happening since upgrading to FCP 7, I don't recall it every happening with FCP 6. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I don't use Boris regularly, but when I have, I never encountered this, and I doubt it's related to upgrading to 7. If I understand correctly what you're describing, the changes could be caused by any number of things – like whatever cutting took place on your TL "over time and subsequent rendering" causing re-renders.
How many v tracks do you have and is the crawl on a separate track? Consider exporting the credits clip as a QT movie and reimport it.
And somewhat off topic, typically I get better (and far more predictable) results by exporting my sequence as a QTMovie (current settings) and do all encoding (e.g., H.264) in Compressor.
    Good luck.

  • Boris title crawl missing after converting with Compressor

Not sure where to put this, since it involves two applications, FCP and Compressor.
I have my credits done as a Boris title crawl (roll). They roll up just like credits in the average movie. They're quite long, spanning almost 4 minutes. Some videos are also included in the open space during this title crawl.
When I convert the files for use with DVD Studio, I used the DVD Best quality 90 minutes presets. It performed that conversion without a hitch.
Looking at the video, everything looks great (it's interlaced, of course). No apparent problems, until the end, where the credits should be scrolling: there's nothing. The videos show up, but only one small section of the credits actually show, and it's cut-off.
I checked the credits again in FCP, and they all fit 100% within the inner title-safe overlays. I've never had any trouble with these rolling credits, except for this problem now.
Any ideas what could cause them to almost completely disappear? most of the time the screen is pure black with absolutely NO text whatsoever. Only three lines show up, and they are cut off on both sides (they extend beyond the view of the screen on both the right and the left).
Many thanks to whoever can assist me.

So you're saying I should just export one as a test? Or, what I was thinking is, export the title crawl as a self-contained movie, then import it back into FCP and then send it to Compressor; can't mess it up like it does if it's a strait-up video, right?
Still can't figure out why Compressor would mess it up like that though. Looks perfect when I export the whole movie as a self-contained movie, which I already did twice. I then burned a sample DVD Using iDVD as a test to see how my video looked on the TV screen. Everything was perfect, except a small amount of flickering in some text (but it wasn't enough to bother me).
Yet, sending it to Compressor completely destroys the title crawl, leaving the intermixed videos untouched. Just plain weird...

  • Boris Title - Missing Text After Render

All apologies if this is an ages old bug that everyone worked to fix years ago. I was a daily editor from FCP 1.0 until 2004 or so when a project caused me to walk away from cuts and edits and crashes all together. Like a masochist, I've jumped back in, but without the prior security that came with daily readings of all the proper forums. I've tried to do my due diligence (5 hours here, 2-pop, Cow, etc) but to no avail. So....
    FCP 4.5/OS X 10.4.9
Previews of text when using Boris Title Crawl to create a crawl look fine, but after rendering, the beginning and end of each text string, no matter how long, are missing.
So the above sentence would read:
ext when using Boris Title Crawl to create a crawl look fine, but after rendering, the beginning and end of each text string a
Scrolls are no problem. Only a problem with crawls.
Again. Sorry if this has already been settled and I'm just overlooking the thread.
    Dual 1.42 GHz G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Welcome (back) to the forum.
    Have you tried...
Deleting all renders in Render Manager, then re-rendering?
using the crawl in a different sequence or project?
    trashing preferences?
I'm unable to duplicate the behavior. Seems to work fine here, with that sentence.
    How are you previewing?
Do you have improperly set 'Margins' in the 'page' tab of Boris...or any crops set in 'Motion' tab of FCP?
    Post back,
    K
EDIT - BTW, FCP4.5 works best with OS 10.3.9/QT6.5.2

  • I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?

I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?  Presently after exporting and burning each photo is identified by the file name rather than each individual title description.

File name and Title are not the same thing.
Filename is attached to the Jpeg file in the Finder.
Title is attached to the photo within the Jpeg file - as is the description. These are written to the Exif and IPTC metadata on export.
So: File -> Export. Kind: Jpeg or Tiff and Check the box at 'Title and Keywords'. This will write the Title, keywords and descriptions (though not explicitly stated) to the metadata. This can then be viewed in any app that understand this material.
You can choose, if you wish, to also use the Title as a Filename - that's an option at File Name

  • Exporting titles from after effects to premiere

Hello. I am a relatively inexperienced user with the creative suite 5.5 programs. (I am working on a Windows 7 machine.) I created a title in After Effects that was just text with a transparent background. However, when I exported it as a movie (AVI) and imported it into Premiere, the text is now on an opaque black background. This surprised me because I have the checkerboard transparency view in After Effects, and all I have there is the text. How can I create text only on an otherwise transparent layer to bring into Premiere? Is there a preferred export setting for this? The posted info says I cannot just copy and paste text layers from one program to the other. (I know how to use the titler in Premiere - this would be for instances where I am doing more complicated text animations that rely on After Effects.)  Thank you in advance for your help. I know this is basic, but I cannot find anything that addresses this specifically.
    Steve Forrest

    Todd -
The link helped me conceptualize alpha channel and transparency (which I have struggled with in the past). However, ultimately I needed to know what setting to adjust, what button to click, which can be hard when you have to wade through all the various support materials. I am teaching (if you can believe it) video and film classes at a local high school. We had been using CS 3 the last couple of years, and I was just starting to get the hang of those, when we moved to CS5, so I am still somewhat disoriented and have taken a step backwards. Much of it is the same, but it can still be pretty daunting when even something as basic as this takes this much research, community help, etc.  (The move back to Audition from Soundbooth is especially confounding, because we were operating more on the amateur than the high pro level.)  Anyway, between classroom in a book, adobe tv, creative cow, lynda.com, and the manual, I can usually figure my fairly basic problems out, but this was really frustrating, in part because it just seemed to basic. So again, thanks so much for you time and helping me get going again.
    Sincerely,
    Steve

  • Adding titles after exporting large movie

Is there any way to add titles to an exported file simply? I just want to add on title to a section that I forgot to put in. I really don't want to wait another 4 and a half hours for imovie to export a new large movie. Any suggestions?

I suppose you could use QuickTime Pro to cut out just the portion of your movie needing titles and import that back to iMovie.
When you're done, export and copy and paste it back in again using QuickTime Pro.

It costs a few bucks, but QuickTime Pro is a handy tool to have around.

  • Blacks turn dark grey after exporting to pdf from InDeign cs6

Exactly what the title says. The one on the right is from Indesign....the left one is after exporting (the same in preview and acrobat reader).Anyone know why this happens?

In this case it looks like the color change is because the color mangement settings are not sync'd and not a color conversion—if there was a CMYK-to-CMYK conversion on export the image wouldn't show through.
ID, Acrobat, and Preview all display some black CMYK mixes as something other than absolute black, but the preview depends on the color settings so there could be a shift if they don't match.

  • Can't import .RTF into Boris Title Crawl without crashing

I laid out my titles in Word, saved as an .RTF and then when I clicked import in Boris Title Generator (crawl) and selected the .RTF file, FCP crashes.
I tried opening a new empty project and doing the title there - same problem.
I tried cutting my .RTF into two parts. Same problem.
I've spent hours tonight first trying to layout in columns and better spacing in Boris (leading command made the lines crazy after render), so finally thought to import but is crashing.
    Any help very much appreciated.

What format are you working in? If it's DV, simply create a new file in photoshop using the DV preset and then adjust the vertical dimension to whatever is appropriate. Post back if you want, and I'll look at some of the crawls I've done and see what they're dimensions are.
If you want to send me your email address (my email is in my profile) I'll try and put together a small project with a end crawl or two from some recent projects, along with the photoshop files.
The trick is to create a separate sequence for the end crawl with the field dominance set to none. You animate the title crawl in this sequence and then render out a selfcontained qt and bring it in to your complete sequence.

  • Creating Gutter with Boris Title Crawl

    Hello all!
I'm doing the end credits for a DV project and as we all know Boris is better than Final Cut's text generators. Just wondering if there's a feature in Boris a la the * in FCP's Scrolling Text generator. You know, to line up those gaps. I've fidgeted and can't find it.
    Michael

*This is very annoying - because the problem comes about at the the tail end of projects when I'm trying to export files to create DVDs, make deadlines, etc.*
Not an answer to your question... I've never used Boris title crawl. But a suggestion that might save you time when trouble shooting... You can just export the title sequence at the end of your show as a test to verify if it's working properly rather than exporting the whole thing only to find you still have an issue.

  • Boris title 3d

Hello, I got a sequence with subtitles made with Boris title 3D and FCP HD. After upgrading my system to FCP studio 5.1 I am not able to open this sequence anymore. It crashes on the Boris plug in. Are the two Boris title 3D versions not compatible?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rob.

Has anyone bothered to search for an answer?
A quick search for BORIS 3D yielded more than 100
hits n about forty-five threads. Many possible
    causes, many different symptoms.
The results were not encouraging because the OPs
rarely came back to close the threads and we just
    hate that around here.
Time for you guys to start sifting through the posts
for situations in the threads that resemble your
    individual situations.
    bogiesan
I also spend a lot of time going through threads to make sure my problem has not been answered before, I really do hate to waste peoples time.
    Michael,
thanks for your reply, i will try and find a program for corrupt fonts and post my findings.
    Cheers.

  • PIXELATED IMAGES AFTER EXPORT TO IDVD

Help! I'm confused and frustrated. I have imported 65 images from iPhoto to iMovie and added titles, music and a few transitions. The movie plays fine in iMovie full screen on my 20 inch iMac. After exporting to Idvd project a number of the images (most) are pixelated and even more confusing (at least to me), when I return to the original iMovie (which was great before the export) now those images are pixelated also. WHAT IS GOING ON? , how can I avoid this? Hope I am in the right forum.

Bengt: Right now I'm jubilant. Tried your methodology, and results were beautiful. Good burn and no JAGGIES. Then made a disc image and tried a burn from that. Great. If this continues I owe you a "GREAT BIG THANK YOU!!" I have been struggling with this problem far to long. Next I want to try adding some more complex transitions and perhaps some Ken Burns and hoping to see the same SMOOTHE lines. Too bad more people don't know about this for I see others posting about pixelation.
    For now, I remain grateful.

  • Perplexing Problem with Boris Title Crawl

This has been an ongoing problem that occurs whenever I use Boris Title Crawl to create very simple titles (i.e lower third, scolling titles, etc). Within the HD sequence, the titles work as intended, but when I down convert the sequence or export the sequence containing the titles to a QT file (whether via QT conversion or compressor) this is where I get the problems. Titles which were once centered become right justified or visa versa. It doesn't occur with all of the titles and there seems to be no recognizable pattern. Sometimes the title will flip back and forth between centered and justified. Sometimes I go back into the sequence and re-edit the title. This may solve it, but then another title will be effected. This is very annoying - because the problem comes about at the the tail end of projects when I'm trying to export files to create DVDs, make deadlines, etc.
