Bose Sounddock functionality post ios4 upgrade

Hi all, following my ios4 upgrade to my 16gig Touch I noticed the only functionality that works from my Bose Sounddock 2 remote control are the volume controls ... nothing else works !! I see the 'Home' menu item withing settings has also disappeared so haven't got a clue where to start here. Has Apple cripled my Bose with its latest IOS? Any help much appreciated

  • Post-iOS4 upgrade problem: rebooting

For the most part, I've had no problems at all with my iPhone since the update. I've done all the things I usually did with it before the update and no problems, except this one.
It reboots sporadically (4-5 times since I upgraded), under pretty specific conditions, which it didn't do before.
Each time it rebooted, it was plugged into the wall socket. It was fully charged (this has only happened, so far, in the morning, though this may only be an coincidence of timing). I was listening to playlist music in the background and doing something else (such as surfing the internet or playing a game). Everything is fine, no problems to speak of, and then the screen goes black and then the Apple logo appears. After about 20 seconds it starts up again.
    Anybody else having this problem?

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can no longer connect to my Bose Sounddock 10 via Bluetooth.  It was fine under Mountain Lion

Pairing my Bose Sounddock 10 to my Macbook Pro (early 2011) via Bluetooth was fine under Mountain Lion.  After installing Mavericks, connection failed. I deleted the Sounddock & attempted to pair it again.  I get an occasional 'flash' in the 'Devices' list, but no pairing occurs.
I have no issue pairing the Sounddock to my iPad running iOS 7.0.3.
Has Bluetooth been changed for Mavericks?
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

I actually have the same problem, since I upgraded to Mavericks my MacBook Pro can't seem to find the Bose sounddock 10. Has anyone found a solution to this.
It still works with the iPhone 5
    Thank you

  • Charging with Bose SoundDock [ipod 2g]

Ok, I know it doesnt work, and I am so ****** off about it you have no idea, paid $450 for it.
Its still in warranty, if i take it back, is there any chance they will replace it with the new Bose speakers that do work?

The Bose SoundDock II is suppose to work with the 2G iphones/itouch not the original/previous SoundDock.
I recently bought, via a very recognized online auction, a new and sealed Bose SoundDock. The package seal date was 10/2007! Bose had the SoundDock listed on their website literally about 2 weeks ago then it's gone now as the company finally phased out the older model.
At least I got a deal online as the original price was $399.
    Let's see...
I bought mine with "free shipping" for $195. If I bought it at retail, it would've cost $399 + 15 sales tax in my state = $414; I saved 53%!! Woo-Hoo!
Too bad it's now "outdated" and replaced my an updated, lower cost model! AUGHH!
    Oh, well!
The SoundDock works well with my older iPods (30Gb/60Gb/80Gb) and 1G/2G/3G nanos (Yeah, yeah! I'm building an iPod farm!. I won't be buying any newer iPods soon).
    Anyway...
Despite the limitations of the SoundDock of not having an auxilliary port or limited remote functions, it works well. Music and speech sound fine and clear! The speaker is meant for the "older" iPod versions (i.e. NOT the 2G iTouch/iPhone or 4G (chromatic) nano).
Bose's newer SoundDock II is meant to be backward compatible as well as compatible with the newer iPods! At least the price for the newer version dropped from $399 of the original to $299, though it's still pricey!!

  • IPod Touch 3rd Gen: Battery Draining very rapidly after iOS4 upgrade.

    Hello All,
    Sorry for the long post:
I was wondering if others are experiencing this issue as well? I have a 3rd gen ipod touch 64gb.
Prior to the iOS4 upgrade my battery life was very decent. I would easily go a couple(2) days before requiring a full charge on the device even with modest internet, game and music use. As a rule I keep my back light as low as I can stand to conserve battery unless I'm in direct sunlight and have no choice but to bump it up in order to see.
After the iOS4 upgrade my battery life has been drasticly reduced. Going even 24 hours without plugging the device in is totally out of the question and in many cases I find myself having to plug the device into my laptop or car pretty much any chance I get in order to have uninterupted use of the device while I'm out and about. Although I've never timed my actual use, my usage habbits have not changed as far as I'm concerned.
I went so far as to exchanging the device at my local bestbuy as I purchased the blacktie protection plan which grants me an exchange of the device for "any" reason; be it manufaturer defect, accidental breakage, or anything really short of losing it. The replacement was a brand new non refurb ipod which I synced and charged fully upon bringing it home. To my suprise, the battery life is just as bad as the ipod I just turned in. I have yet to downgrade to iOS3 but am considering it if only to see if I suddenly see a great improvement of the battery life.
If anyone is having the issue or has some suggestions other then downgrading please comment. If this is an "unknown" bug/issue/flaw in iOS4 I'm sure apple would like to know about it and I'm assuming they monitor these forums for reports of these issues.
    Thanks!

  • IPod Nano (2nd generation) not fully compatible with BOSE SoundDock

I can't get the remote control for my BOSE SoundDock to function with my newly purchased 2 GB iPod Nano (2nd generation).
The BOSE manual states that the remote control will not function properly if the iPod doesn't have the proper (or later) version of Apple software installed.
The "correct" software that BOSE identifies for the iPod mini (Nano) is version 1.2 or later.
This, however, appears only applicable to iPod 1st generation Nanos.
My brand new ipod Nano has version 1.1.2 software and iTunes has confirmed this to be the most current software for this 2nd generation unit.
Is this a common problem? It's hard to believe the BOSE unit does not cover 2nd generation iPod Nano software.
Other than the non-funtioning remote control, the BOSE unit works fine and with the BOSE-supplied black adpater for the Nano.

Actually, the BOSE SoundDock is compatible with the iPod Nano.
After troubleshooting with the BOSE staff, and some excellent customer service, the problem was narrowed down to the remote control device.
BOSE sent out a new remote control and the unit works fine with my iPod Nano.
Appreciate all who offerred assist in this matter.

  • Ipod Nano 8GB with Bose SoundDock

    Hi all,
My new Nano 8GB won't fit into the Bose SoundDock using any of the supplied plastic adaptors. It fits without an adaptor and works fine but the supplied Nano adaptor won't allow it to fit.
Does anyone know where to get an adaptor that fits?
    Thanks,

My 4GB Nano just got destroyed and I'm getting ready
to buy the 8GB...Will it work in the same docking
stations that my 4GB worked in? Thank

  • Citrix is not working post Yosemite upgrade

Post the upgrade to Yosemite, my citrix application is not opening. I am being asked to install Java application everytime I boot even though I have installed. Not sure if both are related. I need citrix application to connect to my work. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Since I am not familiar with the application, I am answering assuming that the Java issue is connected to the application problem.
Are you sure you have Java installed? An upgrade of OS X to a new major version, such as Mavericks to Yosemite, will delete at the very least the functional components of all Java installations (likely for security and/or compatibility concerns).
If you are sure, which Java do you have installed, and what is the nature of the Java install message?
Some applications on OS X still require the Java 6 runtime supplied by Apple which is now considered 'Legacy Java'. It is a seperate install to Oracle's Java, and as such installing Oracle's Java 7 or 8 will not dismiss the message to install the Legacy Java.
There are some convoluted methods involving the terminal to 'force' legacy dependent apps to recognise the Oracle Java. These procedures are not recommended, as they may cause problems with the applications.

  • MacBook Pro, AirPlay and a Bose Sounddock 10

Not quite sure I understand this:
Using an iPhone 4 paired with a Bose Sounddock 10 ( using the Bluetooth Adaptor ) the Sounddock appears in the AirPlay menu from within the iPod app, selecting it streams the music beautifully.
Paired the Sounddock 10 with my MacBook Pro via Bluetooth. Streaming works directly to the Sounddock from within iTunes absolutely fine.
BUT what I don't understand is why the Sounddock does not appear under the AirPlay menu as per the iPhone ?
Can anyone shed any light on this or explain it to me ?
    Thank you.

The Sounddock does not communicate or receive airplay information via bonjour on your wifi network. This is not supported in any bose products to my knowledge. Bose would (in my opinion will) have to implement the airplay framework to show up without an airplay enabled proxy (macbook (air|pro) | i(phone|pod|pad)).
Now if airplay takes off like I really hope it does bose will have to implement this functionality to stay relevant, but you have no recourse but to connect to an airplay enabled proxy for the device you already own.

  • Will the iPhone work with the Bose SoundDock Digital Music System?

I want to get one of the new Bose SoundDocks but I'm not sure if it will work with the iPhone. I know it works with the iPod Touch but I know it's a little thinner than the iPhone. Has anyone tried using the iPhone with one of these?

There isn't an adaptor that fits the iPhone but it works flawlessly with the iPhone. In fact, it works better with the iPhone than it does with the new Classic. The new Bose SoundDock has a nifty little remote that allows you to scan foward/backward through your playlists - this functionality works on the iPhone but not on a Classic iPod.

  • Bluetooth Headset with Bose SoundDock

I tried searching with no success.
If I get a bluetooth headset can I receive calls if I am playing music thru the iPhone in a Bose SoundDock?

I don't have a Bose but I have the same issue with a lesser radio with a iPod doc. I also have an FM transmitter for my iPod. The radio and the FM transmitter both work to play music from the iPhone but will not charge. My understanding that the charging voltage from those docks is something other than the 5 volts that the iPhone uses so the phone protects itself by not allowing the dock to charge it. I have been unable to find any type of adapter that will reduce the voltage so the dock will charge the phone.
I would love to have a Bose but am not glad I did not spend all that money and have a dock that would not charge my phone. Please post if you find any type of solution.

  • Did 2.1 update fix the Bose SoundDock Portable Audio Problem?

I hadn't tried docking my iPhone 3G in my Bose SoundDock Portable speakers for some time because of the commonly discussed audio 'popping' problem (at least commonly discussed back in July).
So when I put my iPhone 3G in the dock tonight I was happily surprised by perfectly clean audio (after an hour of listening anyway). My assumption is that the 2.1 update fixed this (an old post suggested that Bose had said that a future software update from Apple would solve the problem). My two questions are:
    1) Can anyone else validate that the 'popping' problem has disappeared and/or that the fix was the 2.1 update? I searched everything I could find on benefits of 2.1, but this unsurprisingly was not mentioned anywhere.
    2) Can charging on the SoundDock be hard on the iPod's/iPhone's battery life?
    Sincerely,
    Steven
    <Edited by Moderator>

Before the iPhone software update 2.1, my iPhone would every 3.39 seconds maka a popping sound, the screen would flash on, the music would fade then things would return to normal. I talked with Bose technical support several times about this and they said that they were working with apple to fix the problem. The problem was, that apple stoped using 12v firewire pins to charge the iphone and switched to 5v usb pins. However with the iPhone 2.1 update my iPhone was worked flawlessly in the Bose Sounddock Portable with absolutly no interferience at all. I did talk to apple about the affect of charging the iPhone in the Sounddock and they said that it would have no affect on it at all.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • Nano pauses when connected to Bose SoundDock & when earphones are out

I've just taken delivery of a new Bose SoundDock. Of course the thing works perfectly, (I've had it back to a Bose dealer) but my Nano doesn't. Whilst in the store we noticed that my Nano paused whilst in their test SoundDock and then noticed that it paused after it had been taken out (but without headphones in). I'm listening to it now with headphones in - no pausing.
Reading thru some other discussions revealed that there is an issue with Nanos pausing because earphones weren't installed. Is this why it doesn't work with the Sounddock?
I've reset (numerous times) and restored and upgraded to iTunes 7. Please tell me I don't have to send the SoundDock back because my crappy Nano won't work in it ...

  • Besides Bose SoundDock any other good speaker system for nano?

The portable Bose SoundDock sounds goods and I like how it's portable, but hoping to find something as good and less than $400. Any ideas?
BTW, listen to B&W (Bowers & Wilkins) Zeppelin in the Apple store and that sounded excellent too, perhaps even better than the Bose. It's not portable though and it's $600!

    Hi,
I have bought iPod HiFi for my sitting room, Bose soundock for bedroom and JBL on stage for my kids.
My recommendation is iPod HiFi as it can easily fills up a room even as large as 300 square ft. I love Bose but only to play it in a small room.
Regarding JBL, does not mean I do not like it, but I am a bit disappointed with the quality of its hardware issue, I did buy 3 of those (first gen), and all of them broke within 1 year with the problems of loss function control on its volume keys and poor dock connections with the iPod. Heard that the new version of JBL has an improvement on these hardware issues.

  • 4th Ipod Touch won't reconnect to Bose Sounddock portable

I'd done the research on the new touch devices not being compatible with the Bose sounddock portable, but I purchased the new Ipod anyway. I tried it on the Bose Sounddock portable just to see if it just might work and it DID!! However, I took it off the dock to upload some songs and now when I try to put it back on the dock it isn't connecting. I know for a fact it worked, the sound was coming from the speaker of the docking station and not the Ipod itself. I just don't know why it's not working now. Nothing is broken on either the dock or the Ipod, so that's not the problem. Has this happen to anyone else?

Since you have a Belkin router, see this recent post where the OP figured out the problem with his Belkin Setup and posted a fix: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2698309&tstart=15
