  • Charging with Bose SoundDock [ipod 2g]

Ok, I know it doesnt work, and I am so ****** off about it you have no idea, paid $450 for it.
Its still in warranty, if i take it back, is there any chance they will replace it with the new Bose speakers that do work?

The Bose SoundDock II is suppose to work with the 2G iphones/itouch not the original/previous SoundDock.
I recently bought, via a very recognized online auction, a new and sealed Bose SoundDock. The package seal date was 10/2007! Bose had the SoundDock listed on their website literally about 2 weeks ago then it's gone now as the company finally phased out the older model.
At least I got a deal online as the original price was $399.
    Let's see...
I bought mine with "free shipping" for $195. If I bought it at retail, it would've cost $399 + 15 sales tax in my state = $414; I saved 53%!! Woo-Hoo!
Too bad it's now "outdated" and replaced my an updated, lower cost model! AUGHH!
    Oh, well!
The SoundDock works well with my older iPods (30Gb/60Gb/80Gb) and 1G/2G/3G nanos (Yeah, yeah! I'm building an iPod farm!. I won't be buying any newer iPods soon).
    Anyway...
Despite the limitations of the SoundDock of not having an auxilliary port or limited remote functions, it works well. Music and speech sound fine and clear! The speaker is meant for the "older" iPod versions (i.e. NOT the 2G iTouch/iPhone or 4G (chromatic) nano).
Bose's newer SoundDock II is meant to be backward compatible as well as compatible with the newer iPods! At least the price for the newer version dropped from $399 of the original to $299, though it's still pricey!!

  • Simple Ipod Nano Music Question

Ok on my nano I have probably 20 cd's loaded on there and they are all nicely organized in the "Albums" Folder on the Ipod.
My question is I have a CD that my brother made for me with all different songs on it and different music groups.
I want to put it on the Nano, How would I do this because I do not want these songs appearing in the "Album" section of the Nano, because these are obvilusly not full albums by one Artist.
    Any suggestions or help?

Being its a "Personally created" CD it should show up blank in iTunes. Everything will be blank except the "Name" field, there you will see "Track 1" "Track 2" "Track23" ect ect.
You will have to manually type in the name of each track before importing it

  • IPod nano 1G questions,

    Hello!
While tidying my bedroom I've come across one of my family members old iPod nano 1G, after asking why it was in my room I remembered that when he had it the iPod overheated and the Display cracked. He never used it after this as he didn't know what was wrong. Now when plugging it in there is a low pitched buzzing noise and it doesn't work...
Would I be able to send the iPod to Apple under the Recall as it overheated and broke a while ago. I just thought I would ask here before sending it.
    Thankyou,
    Jack :)

    Yes, it qualifies.

The amount of songs you can fit on any iPod will be determined by how they are encoded.
Apples estimates for song quantity are based on tracks being 128kbps AAC files of about 4 minutes each.
Using that estimate, a 2GB Nano will hold about 500 tracks, and a 4GB Nano will hold about 1000 tracks.
If your tracks are encoded at a higher bitrate, use a lossless encoding method, or are generally longer than 4 minutes each... you won't fit quite as many tracks as Apples estimate.

  • ITunes Match and iPod Nano Syncing Question

I recently subscribed to iTunes Match.  My son and husband still have iPod Nanos.  How do you sync the nano with the iTunes match?

I subscribed to Match because the USB ports in the laptop where my iTunes playlists resides are toast - do not work.  I could not sync my iPod to it.  So I thought if I subscribed to Match, I would be able to access my playlists with my other laptop.  I have iTunes installed on my other laptop and the USB ports work!  I also authorized my other laptop for the account.
So I thought "great - I'll access my original playlists with my second laptop and connect my iPod Nano and sync it to the second laptop and it will load my playlists on my Nano".
Nope - I get nothing.  I have it set up to sync automatically - didn't work.  I tried to sync manually - it acts like it's syncing, tells me it's done and there is nothing on my Nano.  Help?!

  • Ipod nano  restore question

how long does it take to restore settings in my ipod nano?

If your computer doesn't have a low amount of RAM, restoring normally takes up to about 4-5 minutes. Remember, if you have multiple windows or programs running at the bottom bar of your screen, this will slow up the speed of the process. Overall, it's a pretty quick process.

  • IPod Nano Accesories question

Does anyone know if Apple makes little plastic screen covers for the ipod nano? I don't want to take off the packaging completely until I have another cover to protect it with. Thanks for any help.

I don't think Apple do (maybe I'm wrong) but many other people do. Most shops that sell Nano's sell those too.
Shops that sell handheld pc's, palms and other screen devices often also sell screen protectors for those devices that you can cut to size for your Nano.

  • IPod Nano Warrenty Question.

I bought a 4 gb iPod nano about a month ago and the screen does not work anymore. There is a very minor dent on the side of the nano, but it was working fine for the 2 weeks until today. Does the warrenty cover for it to be replaced for a new one? The dent was caused by dropping it. Thanks for all comments in advance!

No, the warranty would most likely not cover this.
You are not covered for damage due to dropping. Apple will most likelt see the dent, assume it was dropped, and conclude that is the reason the screen is broken. (Which it probably is.)
Couldn't hurt to take it to an Apple store and ask them about it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

  • Ipod nano - few questions - 8gb

I have just bought a new black ipod chromatic 8gb, and just have a few questions.
    1. I have one dead pixel in around the middle of the screen, can this be fixed easily??
    2. Why doesn't the new nano have music quiz? and is there another way to get it?
    3. Is it going to work with wall charger if i decide to get one?
    4. how long is the battery meant to last, because different places say different things, is it 24 hours (audio) or 12 hours (audio)?
    Thanks

The pixel is dead forever so if you're still in your 30 day grace period, take it back for an exchange.
The music quiz is no longer available, unless you can find it pirated somewhere.
Most European countries, if not all of them have a different shaped wall plug from the US, so no, if you buy a regular charger here, it will not work without an adapter in Italy.
There are multiple universal chargers online and I even found one on the apple internet store, but I have not found one that is compatible with the nano chromatic.
I think your best bet would be to buy the new apple usb wall charger that just came out and buy an adapter for it either here, or in Italy, because odds are there won't be a universal charger compatible with the chromatic released before November.
Heres a pic of a standard Italian wall plug you would find in a kitchen, just for interest's sake (just copy and paste it cuz i cant remember how to make a link)

  • Ipod Nano volume question

    Hi,
I use my nano as a music source on my motorcycle connected to an Autocom intercom. I have found it to be the best think yet for non skip music.
As I normally wear ear plugs I have always had a problem getting enough volume from other sources. However, with the nano I realise that you can import from itunes with a volume level adjustable up to +100%. I have found that at this import level I only need the volume turned up to about 80% on the nano when on the bike. However, even with AAC tracks I can hear some minor sound distortion.
My question is would I benefit copying from itunes to the nano at, say +75%, and then have to use more volume on the nano or remain with +100% and use less volume on the nano?
Or another way of asking is will I get better quality from increasing the volume from an import from itunes at a lower volume or increasing the volume on the nano to max?
    Hope that makes sense!
    Thanks,
    Mark

I encountered this problem about a week into using it. I restored my iPod to fix the problem.
Everything was fine for me for about a week, but then at the start of one run, the Nike+ voice tried to say two sentences to me at the same time. I think it was the "Walk around to activate your sensor..." and whatever instruction happens next at the same time. From this point on, all of my songs and Podcasts were less than half the original volume, but the Nike+ voice was full volume. This basically ruined the rest of my workout.
I suggest trying to reset your iPod to see if this fixes the problem, and if not, then do a restore to your iPod.
The only bad thing about doing a restore is then your iPod loses all of its workout history, so from that point on your history is only on the Nike+ web site. Too bad iTunes doesn't transfer the workout history back to the iPod...
    Good luck,

  • IPod Nano & dock question

Hi, my brother has dock which he uses with his forth gen iPod and which I have also used on my Mini, I've just purchased a Nano that came with a dock adaptor, how and where does this fit on the dock? It has two small white clips that seem to prevent the adaptor from sitting in the dock properly so I'm not sure if I'm even supposed to be using it although I'd like to as I'd prefer to have the Nano docked rather then lying on my desk, sorry if this sounds dumb and there's a really obvious answer but I just can get it to fit... Thanks!

Apparently, that adapter is for some third party type doohinkeys. It doesn't actually work with previously shipping Apple docks.

  • Ipod nano battery question.

Ok so I think my ipod is a 2nd generation I got it in 2006 for Christmas. Here's my problem. I really dont know how to tell the difference between the three. Its a black nano 4GB.
I can't get it to charge at all and the batter is completely dead. It will sit plugged into my computer charging for hours and all I get is battery level exteremly low (or something like that) It also wont update my songs off iTunes because of it.
Does anyone know if replacing the battery will solve the problem or if there's something else wrong and I have to spend the money for a new one?

I'd give it a try. If you are a DIYer, it's dirt cheap.
Of course, it could be a problem with the dock connector. Or just the cord. Do you have a friend with an iPod whose charger you could borrow to test that?
