Bottom of Browser issue

On this one page of my site, the bottom of the browser is way below the page bottom. All master pages are set the same and all other pages are fine.

extra carriage returns were needed in the text frame to extend below the background image.
Rule #1 in web design:
Do not use non-breaking spaces, line breaks or empty <p> tags as a layout device. It doesn't work in all devices or by all users.

Using a Mac, Firefox does not allow me to use the vertical scroll bar real-time in Godaddy webmail. It lags and jumps. Godaddy says it is a browser issue. Does not happen in Safari with Mac OS 10.4.11 or on PC w/windows vista.

Nokia 500 and Belle Refresh: browser issues.

Greetings.
The Belle Refresh was indeed a welcome refresh for this low-to-midrange phone. However, there is a serious issue with the browser.
With the update to Qt 4.8, you inherited QtWebKit, an amazing browser I know very well. In a desktop, it's fast, although it eats more memory than Firefox. However, in a cell phone like the 500, with limited amounts of RAM, this browser freezes the phone, due to the lack of memory. I'm also sure this browser can and will break phones with more memory and Belle FPx, since I've made QtWebKit use more than 1 GB of RAM in a computer running KDE.
There is a way to avoid this, called "user agent". Opera Mobile avoids this scenario by telling pages through user agent "hey, don't be hard on me, I'm browsing this from a cell phone", and pages adjust themselves to that scenario. However, you didn't tweak the user agent in your browser.
If you add no user agent tweaking, full HTML5 support, Flash Lite support (the much higher specced iPhone 4S doesn't support Flash), and low memory, you get a nightmare scenario.
1. The webpages send their complete, full featured DESKTOP versions to my Nokia 500.
2. QtWebKit supports everything, so, it makes a faithful attempt to properly render the page, even with Flash apps.
3. Nokia 500 has only 70-80 MB of RAM free for apps to use.
4. Boom.
Can you release a hotfix for Belle Refresh, changing the user agent of Nokia Browser to something that can trigger the mobile version of web pages? In that scenario, QtWebKit will eat much less memory and everyone will be happy. And please, can you do this for everyone using Belle Refresh?

I can confirm serious browser issues with the Belle refresh on a C6-01 device. The crash is so severe that only taking out the battery helps. It typically occurs when scrolling larger, feature-rich (and image-rich) webpages, so far I've seen this only on mobile connections (Edge, Umts), but that may be due to lack of testing with WLAN. (Where I've got WLAN I've usually a more powerful device as well..

IWeb pages reverting to older version- not a browser issue, deleting prefs/caches no help

Hi everyone, forgive me if this is a newb question but I've scoured the internet for answers and all of them I've already tried with no luck. I'm using iWeb and encountering a problem that has me completely stumped. I'm trying to publish changes to my site, (I do not use mobileme, I publish to disk and upload files via Fetch) and for some reason something is changing my html files when I try to upload them. The html files are correct on my hard drive when I publish them, and yet when I upload them, they revert to the older version. This is not a browser issue, as I've cleared my cache, refreshed and tried using Safari, Firefox and Chrome with no luck. I've also tried 're-setting' iWeb by deleting iWeb preferences/cache, and tried moving the domain file from application support, creating a new website, deleting it and then re-loading the old site. Nothing, still the old site. It's new in iWeb, new when I open the html files on my drive, and old as soon as I upload.
I seem to remember having this problem before, and what I found was iWeb's cache kept replacing my new pages with the old ones every time I wanted to upload them. 'Re-setting' iWeb did the trick then, but it's not doing it now. Any ideas on what is going on? It's a little disconcerting seeing a file correct on the disk and then change itself, while uploading, into an incorrect version.

If you make changes to a page there are files in the Scripts folder that get updated and must be uploaded also. Depending on what you're using to up load the files it can be setup to upload just those new or modified files.
Cyberduck is a free FTP client that works very well and if used in conjunction with this tutorial will upload only those new or modified files: #2 - Uploading only those new or newly edited and published files when using a 3rd party FTP client

Has anyone experienced web browser issues at display time? We are on IE7. We are now using the internal ITS. Our carriage returns are totally being ignored by the browser. Thus, we have a dropdown box to pick one of the businesses multiple partners, and because the HTML is not formatted correctly in the browser, the dropdown doesn't work, and we get an "array not created" error messsage in IE7.
I know that there are options in the IE 7 browser under the menu item "view". I've tried changing these to some different Unicode settings, but without luck.
Has anybody some experience with this issue?

this might be problem with Support package, by default Sap neweaver 2004s application comes with SP6, u can upgrade to higher SP to solve these type of problems.patch your system up to SP12 or SP13 and try.

Yahoo Homepage is in EST and not PST like my seetings are in. It changes to the next day when it is not midnight yet. Please fix. Yahoo say it is a browser issue!

On the Yahoo Homepage the day, date, and time are in EST and I am in PST. The day, month, time, and date, changes to the next day at 9pm and it is not midnight yet.
Example: Monday, February 13, 2012, then at 9pm tonight, it will change to Tuesday, February 14, 2012, before it hits midnight on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Please fix.
I have been in contact with AT&T and Yahoo for the past month trying to get this fixed so it doesn't affect my e-mail time. Now both are saying it is a browser issue, and that is you guys. I can't believe I am going through all this just to get something fixed....it is amazing! Our e-mail is:[email protected]

Browser issues in DW

Not a whiz in DW but created a site and found that the logo only shows up in some browsers. How do I fix that in DW since the previews all showed fine? It's apparently a PC browser issue. Any fix for it?

Your logo is way too big for the web.

Resize to actual height & width needed for your page(s).
Save for Web as an optimized jpg. Use the smallest file size necessary for the job. 20 - 50 KB tops.
Upload to server and test in browsers.

I have lost my Hotmail pagination marks. Is this a browser issue?

Hotmail used to have the list of pages in each box, ie Inbox, sent box etc.
It has all been changed recently to pagination marks instead to allow you to navigate.
However - I have no pagination marks so cannot navigate past the 1st page of any box. Is this a browser issue?

There is no GPS in any iPod. If you set up the Find My iPod service prior to the iPod going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPod is turned on, connected to a WiFi network, and has not had the Find My iPod service disabled). Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section. Note, though, that you'll only get the location of the WiFi router to which the iPod is connected; there's no way to pinpoint the exact location of the iPod itself.
If you did not set up Find My iPod, then there is no way to track it. Notify the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPod (the iTunes Store, for instance).

Getting whitespace between bottom of page and bottom of browser.

Happens for a relatively short page (site properties of 1280x800) when browser is resized large (resolution, full screen).   The testcode is at http://susandeskotestsite.businesscatalyst.com/news.html
I have (think I have) put the bottom of browser slider at the same position as the bottom of page slider on all the master pages, that doesn' seem to get it.
Would be fine to just have it paint the same color down to bottom of browser.

hey, that was it!    i had defined different colors as browser fill and that was what was having the dark grey from bottom of page to bottom of browser.   your previous fix on sticky footers fixed the problem where i was seeing white below the bottom of the page but only for the width defined in site properties. thanks, wish i could do more than just mark it correct.
as a follow on, the site properties are page width of 1280 and min height of 800.   generally looks good, but when you maximize a browser window at 2560 x 1600 you get a lot of browser fill and the 1280 x 800 'page'.   i've seen other websites that will stretch the 'page' to be much larger on higher resolution displays.   can this be done in muse?   would the approach be to define larger page sizes to begin with and then it will be "shrink down" to fit lower browser size/resolutions?

Muse content moves to bottom in browser, and it's not a footer issue.

Items I've added to a left column seem to move down the page to below a tabbed box widget in the right hand column. It's leaving a huge blank space in the middle of the page. When I view the source on business catalyst, it looks like the problem left-hand element <div> sections come after the tabbed box <div> code. Since I can't edit the code in Muse, any suggestions to fix this? I tried putting them on different layers, and cutting and then replacing them, but no joy. There are no hidden text boxes, and I can't find any other reason this could be happening.

Having Muse Browser Issue - Please Help

I'm probably not setting up Muse like i'm supposed to so I'm hoping someone can help me.
But bottom line is I'm trying to design one of those full screen websites and am having issues. Chrome has a continuous horizontal scroll bar even when the browser is full size and IE acts very strange when the browser size is changed. Also in Chrome when size changes, the blue textured BG shrinks instead of staying fized like I want it to.
I'd be happy to make my MUSE file available if anyone wants to see it. Also, below is the live site as well as a screen capture video:

Hey Michael,
Looks like there are 3 things you are struggling with there, so hopefully I can address all of the issues you're seeing.
As far as th scrollbar in Chrome, this is actually a known issue with Chrome that we're looking into. The short of it is that this issue is something that we used to have, but Chrome fixed the problem before we could identify the root cause. It is back now, so we've identified the problem and will be looking at how to best fix it.
The second issue is some "strange behavior" with IE when resizing, which, if I had to guess is some sort of flickering occuring as you resize, right? The flickering you are seeing is actually a side effect of the way we have to do 100% width page items. We're always looking at ways to improve the experience and fix issues like this, but unfortunately this has been sort of a nasty one for us. We have a solution, but it causes issues in some older browsers, so we haven't been able to implement it. We'll continue to look at it until we come up with something, but unfortunately at the moment there isn't much that we can do to fix the problem. Sorry about the inconveinece here.
The background resizing in Chrome is actually intended. In your fill options for the rectangle, it looks like you have the option for "Scale to Fill" selected. What this means is that the image will be resized dynamically to fill in the rectangle. When you resize your browser, you are actually changing the width of your 100% width rectangle, which is causing the image to be resized in the frame. This is causing the effect you are seeing. If there is a different effect you are looking for, we can try and help you achieve it.

Browser Issues - Please Help!

Hi guys,
never had any issues with my 8900 until recently - now when i try to load a page up through my browser i get the standard 'Requesting' bar at the bottom before the screen proceeds onto a blank browser with a blue 'Loading' bar at the bottom. The browser then freezes on this and will not connect to any websites.
It is solely a browser problem as I am still receiving Emails and MSN connects without hassle!!
I'm not entirely sure whats gone wrong but would appreciate help from anyone who could shed some light on the matter!
