Bottom of CS5 tools cut off?

Hi forums folks,
can anyone help me figure out why some of my students (a couple of the ones using Mac) are finding that the bottom of their toolboxes are being chopped off? The toolbox ends somewhere near the top of the Quick Mask icon. It does this regardless of whether the toolbox is one row or two, docked or floating. The Quick Mask still works, but you have to click on the sliver of it that is still showing.
Can anyone explain?

Well, it might not come to that...one of the students who was having a problem crashed and lo and behold, upon restart all was well again.
The other one restarted voluntarily and Photoshop also is no longer acting up. Guess it was just "one of those things"!

  • HDR Pro on CS 5 - Merged image appears but bottom with save buttons cut off??

When I select photos to merge, either via Bridge or within CS5 (Automate/Merge to HDR Pro), the Merged image appears over the CS5 screen.  However, the bottom of the HDR screen with the photos selected for the merge along with the Cancel & Save buttons are cut off.  The only way for me to exit HDR is to force quit.
My monitor resolution is 1440X900 which is better than the 1024x768 required for CS5.
I noticed the same problem in Terry White's video on Youtube describing workflow between Lightroom & CS5 HDR Pro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rab25UTe6HY) as well as a couple of other users mentioning the problem to Zeno Bokor of Adobe (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-78e5a.h tml).
    Does anyone have a solution???
    Thanks.

I found the soluion - after spending over an hour with Adobe phone support (800-833-6687) - of which 45min was being on hold.
It turns out that for some computers, Photoshop CS5 doesn't automatically work as efficiently as it could with the monitor resolution, even if the resolution is > than the minimum 1024 X 768.  This is more frequent in those that have had older versions of Photoshop in them. This causes part of the screen to be cut off when going into HDR Pro.
One has to "prime" CS5 to recognize one's computer monitor settings.  How to do:
    Close out of PS CS5
Go to system preferences and select hardware settings/display (For PC would have to go through Control Panel/Hardware/Display)
Change monitor setting to one recommended by Adobe: 1024 X 768 or 1280 X 800
Save changes.  Monitor will look less clear if you have been using higher settings...it's ok for now.
Now open CS5 again and access HDR Pro all three ways available, i.e. via Bridge, Mini Bridge and through PS under File/Automate.
Verify that the entire screen is visible including all thumbnails and Save/Close buttons.
    Close out of CS5.
Go back to System Preferences ( for PC, go through Control Panel) and change back to your preferred resolution.
Voila! When you open CS5 again you should be able to see the entire screen.
For example, I use a Macbook Pro with OS 10.6.7 and the monitor resolution  was set to 1440 X 900.  However, I still couldn't see the bottom of the  screen with the Save/Close buttons so couldn't save any work (had to  force quit or escape to exit HDR).  After doing the above steps, I am now able to use HDR Pro w/o problem and access the Merge via all three modes.
Via  Mini Bridge - Choose photos to merge--> Tools (above photos, last on right in Content bar) --> Photoshop --> Merge to HDR Pro
Via Bridge - Choose photos to merge--> Tools (Tool Bar beside "Adobe CS5 Bridge" at left top of screen; 3rd from end) --> Photoshop --> Merge to HDR
Via inside Photoshop - File --> Automate -->  Merge to HDR
Since this seems to have affected several people and is a simple solution, I have asked the supervisor I spoke to, Laurie, to please have someone in Adobe post this solution.
    Hope this helped.

  • Bottom half of text cut off

My printer: Photosmart C6280 All-in-one. The printer connects to my wireless router via Ethernet cable. Two computers use this printer on a wireless home network. The problem has occurred with both computers. Both computers (an HP desktop and a Gateway laptop) run Windows Vista Home Premium. The problem I describe occurs when printing text from Microsoft Word 2007.
From time to time, the last line of text in a document or a label comes out with the lower half of the entire bottom line cut off. The odd thing is that sometimes (but not always), I can resend the print job and get good results. For example, on one occasion after encountering this problem two consecutive times with a particular document, I re-sent the print job and used the back side of a used sheet. It printed correctly, so I put a new sheet of paper into the tray and tried a fourth time. This time, I got the same unacceptable result! Tried a fifth time and got a good print.
One important point: The problem has never once occurred when I print photos. The problem seems to occur only when printing text.

We were also having this problem but after researching around on the net and finding some other people with the same issue, we found the following fix worked (based on a Windows 7/Vista Machine):
Click Start > Devices and Printers
Right click 'HP Photosmart C7200 series' and click Printer Properties
    Click the Ports tab
    Uncheck Enable Bidirectional Support
For XP users, you can get to the same thing by finding your printer in the "Printers" area of Control Panel. Following this, opening the properties for your printer from there either by right clicking directly on the printer, or by double clicking the printer and then in that window selecting Printer > Properties.
We found that the above worked for us so I hope it works for some of you too.

  • BUG: Premiere CC Curve Tool cuts off luma at 100% ?

The Color Curve Tool from Premiere CC cuts off luminance to 100% video level. That is a problem if the input videos have so-called "super-whites" in it.
This would include for example the Canon C100, C300, C500 because the video levels from this cameras defaults to more then 100% video-level.
The Curve Tool was definetly not clipping at 100% in Premiere CS6!
Please consider this as a bug that has to be fixed soon, because it changes colors all older projects which includes material from this popular cameras.
BTW - Speedgrade CC (also previous versions) also did not handle Super-Whites correctly and clips it even at import! This does not seemed to be fixed in SG CC.
    Thanks,
    Patrick.

  • Bottom one half inch is cut off.

When I try to print the bottom half inch is cut off. This happens when I copy from the printer as well. The Print and Scan Doctor does nothing. Can someone help?

    Hi,
Please note: your HP Deskjet 2540 does NOT support borderless (no border) printing therefore you have to allow for blank spaces (borders) in your designs.

  • When I try to save something the bottom of the save menu gets cut off. Any fixes?

    Hey All!
I'm not very computer knowledgeable, so I'm hoping someone can help me with this. Any time I hit 'save as' the 'save menu' extends down, but goes down too far. The bottom ends up being cut off and I can't see any of the buttons. Is there a way to fix this? It's not a huge problem, but it's annoying. Thank you ahead of time for any help you can give. I have iwork'09 and Mac OS X 10.5.8.

In the Menu Bar go Apple > Dock > Turn Hiding On.  Then open a new page and Save. When the Save window opens you will be able to grab the bottom corner and make the window smaller, so that it clears the Dock area. Cancel the new document and Turn Hiding Off.

  • HP Designjet T520 Printing A3 cuts off at bottom

HP Designjet T520 Printing A3 cuts off at bottom When we plot something with AutoCad, and then print Portrait, it all prints fine except the bottom edge is slightly cut off. The paper we are using is A3, and the printer and Autocad settings is A3. Any ideas? WINDOWS 7 - NO ERROR MESSAGES

This very same issue is affecting me with T520.This happens with vertical A4 and A3, and till now I've not yet found a solution. To be sure to be within printer margins I've set the drawing actual margins on all the four sides to be 1.8 cm from paper sheets borders. But as alway I get the bottom border cut, while the upper border seems shifted downward and it's placed at 3,0 cm from the upper border of the paper. BUTif I set the page to be ORIZONTAL in the application, choose the orizontal page format etc the printout is perfectly aligned.  To me this seems a weird issue.Experienced this issue using Archicad 16, Illustrator and Indisign. On OSX, from Snow Leopard to Mavericks. These are my printer details:Nome prodotto HP Designjet T520 24inNumero modello prodotto CQ890A     Versione firmware AXP2CN1437AR

  • Customer's PDFs look fine until "white space" is cut off

We've got a commercial customer using InDesign CS2 and Distiller 7 that is having issues with the bottoms of their pages getting cut off when our RIPs (ECRM) delete the "white space" around their pages. In some cases (but not all), removing the white space also seems to be taking off the bottom two or three rows of pixels.
The PDFs look fine when they arrive, but once the RIPs get them, the bottom of the page gets cut off (sometimes).
I can actually see which pages are going to cut off by using the Acrobat crop command and telling it to "Remove White Margins."
They're the only customers we have (and we have dozens) that are having this problem. What can I do to help them fix it?
Here is the file as they've sent it. Standard white margin around the page and no oddball crop or art boxes.
When I check the "Remove White Margins" box, however, this is what happens (and it appears that's what our RIPs are doing, too, as the results from the RIPs mirror this.
It's difficult to see in the small preview here, but Acrobat is now cropping off the bottom of the image (not just white space). Question is, how do we stop Acrobat from identifying this text/image as white space and allowing it to be removed?

I decided to take Jerrold's advice and converted the pdf to a jpeg to see if borderless printing was possible with a picture. Before printing I selected 'Scale to Fit' then 'Fill Entire Paper' and it worked! It printed the entire page including the 1cm at the bottom that was previously cut off.
So bascially with this HP printer if I want to print PDF's without leaving a 1cm gap at the bottom of the page, I first need to open the PDF in Preview, Save as jpeg, then print using the settings above.
A little annoying but at least it's a solution! Thanks everyone for your help!

  • Text in Mail list is cut off

Using MacBook Pro, OS10.7. The bottom of text is cut off in Mail list. An example is included.

Why should I start a new thread if this one was never resolved and I am still having the same problem?
    ANYWAY,
I was able to fix this by finding an answer on a different forum.
Simply increase the text leading using the text format option, like so:
    var format:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
    format.leading = 2;
    field_txt.defaultTextFormat=format;

  • Property inspector cut off [was: CS4 help]

    Hello all,
I just got a new computer with windows vista 64 bit.  With this new computer, I got a new CS4 package.  In dreamweaver, the properties pannel on the bottom of the screen cuts off and does not show all the stuff that it used to.  For example, I can see the word Target, but there is not dropdown box for me to select which target I want to select.  Is there a way to fix this so everything is viewable?
    Thanks

Hmm - well, I can't.  Too bad.  Who would search for a Property inspector answer with CS4/help in their search phrase?

  • IMOVIE -TITLE SCREENS / SCROLLING CREDITS CUT OFF -

Hopefully someone out there knows how to fix this....A title in my video (scrolling edits, with names) cuts off at the bottom portion of the last name entered....The title is the exact length as the clip it corresponds to....What is making the bottom of each character cut off? ANY help greatly appreciated. Frustrating - as I'm done with the video but can't burn with this defect. Thanks in advance for guidance.

Hi Diana - there is no 'one-click' answer, but it is possible to almost do what you want.
    1. Create a centred title (with the 'over black' box ticked, and set to its longest duration) with the words you want, and in the preview click on the words and drag them to the top of the window.
    2. Trim off the ends of this clip to remove the fade-in/fade-out of the text.
    3. Copy and Paste this clip as many times as needed for the scrolling (which you will now add to these clips).
    4. Although you can now use the scrolling title option, its short-coming is that it will scroll over the title at the top of the page). In my experiment I used the Far Far Away title. Type in the cast etc, and choose a duration to last as long as your combined title clips. De-select 'over black', and apply this by dragging its blue 'T' to the front of the previously-created title clips.
    5. It may be worth changing the colour of the scrolling text for added effect.
See how that goes. You will need to experiment. Make the whole thing longer than you at first imagine it needs to be, as the scrolling travels quite quickly otherwise.
