Bottom of Macbook is starting to peel off suddenly.

The rubber-like bottom of my Macbook started to suddenly begin to come off. I didn't do anything to it. I just noticed it bubble up and peel away a bit from the edge of the Macbook. I purchased it in April 2010, so the warranty is no longer valid. Will Apple fix it? Any suggestions? Thanks.

They will replace it for free and even overnight a replacementt. You do not have to return the old one even though the website says you do. The return lable included says there is no charge for not returning the old part.

Try starting in Safe mode by holding down the Shift key while booting. Safe mode takes a while to load the OS. After that, restart the computer normally.
If that does not work, start up in Recovery by holding down the Command and R keys. In the window that opens, choose Disk Utility at the bottom and verify and repair your disk. Repair permissions while you are there.

  • Bottom of MacBook Air Bent and Coming Off

I just received a MacBook Air from a seller on eBay. It was said to have "minor cosmetic damage," but it showed up with the entire bottom of it bent and coming off (right near where you insert the power plug). I'm not sure if this is something Apple can easily fix, or if I need to get a refund from the company and try to find a new laptop.
It almost looks like it might be dangerous to use as is - it seems like part of the computer underneath is exposed! Here are some photos to show what I'm dealing with. Anybody else ever had a similar issue? Any insight on what move to make next?

Yes. Get a refund. That is not "minor cosmetic damage". It is 'major structural damage'.

  • Back panel peeling off

I have had this lap top for two and 1/2 years now. I have really liked its software and the way it is designed, but last year (when I had it for 18 months) the back silver panel (ie. The back of the monitor) started to peel off. I taped it down to try and stop it from spreading but it has continued to spread to where it the entire bottom of the panel is coming off! The whole bottom is duct taped down and because it is coming off, it's starting to pull on the plastic hinges and making them pop off some. I've never dropped my lap top, whenever I take it places it is always in a case and I've always been very careful with it. I don't understand why this is happening when I've always been so careful with it. The back panel was just glued on cheaply and has just come off when it shouldn't have.

  • Will Apple Repair? Latch Paint Peeling off

The paint on my latch has started to peel off and it's quite unsightly. My MBP is only 7 months old. Will Apple fix this?

My MPB has the same issue. In addition, the paint on my left palm rest is also starting to speckle. My Apple store had no problem replacing the top shell for the palm and informed me that to replace the bottom shell for the button would require them to gut my MBP. Being I have Apple Care I am going to hold off on the palm rest or top shell replacement until near the end of Apple Care. At that point I might get the bottom shell replaced as well, but am worried a bit.
Anyway, my point is: Take it to the Apple Store and ask nicely!

  • Screen Protector Peeling Off

    When I received the Z1
I peeled off the first Screen Prortector and installed the one supplied with the phone.
After about a week of use I noticed that the Scrren Protector was peeling off.
So I started to peel off the Screen Protector to replace it with a new one.
    It seemed thicker then usual.
When I removed the Screen Protector I noticed it had a Sony Logo on it.
Not the screen of my phone doesn't have the Sony Logo on it.
    Is this normal?
If its not is it covered under the warranty?
    Cheers

you are or were not supposed to remove the screen protector as this is the ASF (Anti Shatter Film)
it seems that if you remove this it voids your screen's warranty, contact your local Sony repair center

  • Macbook pro anodised peeled off.

I have been using my macbook pro late 2011 since almost 17 months now. I started notice that there are some areas, especially on the latches, that the anodised peeled off. It is not that visible though, only same flakes and dots. While, i am well aware that aluminum anodised may peeled off (my iPhone 5 black also has the same issue), is this normal with macbook pro?

I am not aware of any latches on a MBP.
Pitting and discoloration can occur on the body of a MBP for users with a body chemistry allows for that phenomenon.  Unfortunate, but it happens.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook Pro starts up, has a small loading bar, and then shuts off.

Macbook Pro starts up, has a small loading bar, and then shuts off after a few seconds, but the Windows bootcamp partition works fine.
The repair disc option (using install disc) failed, and the computer cannot locate the original Mac side partition. Only Bootcamp appears under options to "restore from backup" or reinstall. The repair disc options says it should be repaired but doesn't seem to know how.
    Macbook Pro.
    Snow leaopard
    Bootcamped with Windows.
    Any ideas?

Hold c or option key and boot off the 10.6 installer disk, run DU Repair from there.
run through this list of fixes 1-8
Step by Step to fix your Mac
If it doens't work, you can recover files if you don't have any current OS X file backups, then grab what you can out of Bootcamp
Use Data Rescue installed on the extenral boot drive ($100) to read the bits of the internal (non-filevaulted) drive to retrieve OS X data files if you can't get them off manually via drag and drop methods.
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive
If you want to clone Windows, use WinClone and another drive. However it's likely compromised, unless it something you did in Windows, like trying to create a new parttition perhaps?
Then perform a Zero Erase and install of 10.6 as shown here (on the entire drive, not only the parittions), this will give a new GUID partition table, EFI and map off bad sectors, totally fresh everything.
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
You cna use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the new extenral setup to the new scrubbed internal drive. Recreate Bootcamp and WinClone back or fresh install Windows into Bootcamp like before. OR opt to use virtual machine software which is safer.
Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?
Windows 7 can write to the boot drives GUID partition map (unlike XP), this is likely why it's borked now.

  • Problem of the anti-glare coating on 15" Macbook Pro display peeling off?

Hi, bought my Macbook Pro 15" with Retina display about a year ago. Recently discovered the anti-glare coating peeling off, leaving ugly 'bald' spots on the screen bezel sides (thankfully, not in the main display area!). Only use the provided polishing cloth to clean the screen of any fingerprints, etc. Once in a while, I do wet the cloth with a drop or two of water to get rid of more stubborn marks. I've stopped cleaning the screen with the cloth.
Anyone else faced the same problem? How did you resolve it?

Same problem here with a 2013 MBP 13''.
Seems to be common and might be covered by warranty: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1729779

  • I have a 2009 MacBook Pro. Does anyone else have issues with their laptop having problems starting when shut off or restarting when asleep since installing Yosemite?

I have a 2009 MacBook Pro which I have upgraded a few things on. I have updated to Yosemite and am having problems with getting my laptop to come out of sleep mode, and to start when shut off. Any ideas of what this might be or how to correct it? Is this more probably a hardware issue or software?

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the 10.10.1 update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

You showed a kernel panic file from OS X, apprantly Log Me In is installed into OS X or running when you log in.
You should be using the developers installer/unistaller to remove Log Me In from OS X.
Somehow it's in OS X, I don't know, but it's there and you need to remove it. I'm not dealing with Windows, just OS X.
Talk to Log Me In people and find out what is installed where so you can do a manual deletion out of OS X.
If that doesn't work, you have to reboot holding the Shift key down manually search for any Log Me In or Himachi files on your computer, in your System/Library/Extensions folder too, use the free Easy Find.
