Bottom-up versions

hi,
the versions type bottom-up means that level0 must be for all the dimensions including entity or only the account?
our customer wants to be able to adjust the numbers on higher entity level of lower entities levels, it is possible?

Hi,
The documentation gives a perfect description
You can create target and bottom up versions. With bottom up versions, you enter data into bottom level members; parent level members are display-only and do not permit data entry. Parent member values are aggregated from bottom level members.
For target versions, you can enter data for members at any level in the hierarchy. You can use business rules to distribute values from parent members to their descendants. Use target versions to set high-level targets for your plan. Planners working with bottom up versions can reference these targets when they enter plan data.
Target versions use top-down budgeting. Workflow Tasks are not allowed, and children of target members must be blank (for example, #missing) to enable data input at the top level. Target members must be set to Store (Dynamic Calc overrides data input with sum of children).

  • Target Vs. Bottom-up Version

    Hello,
I donno if this is a valid question, but here is my question
When I can use a target vesrion either to input at level-0 to aggregate it to the top level or to override
the top level(after aggregations from level-0) and spread it to the levels below, what is the use of
    bottom-up version.
If I am right we can get the complete functionality of bottom-up version work
from target version as well (other than work flows and drivers are read-only, that I can think), so
why the tool has two different versions?
I wish we can have workflows(process management) for target vesrion as well.
We are planning to use target vesrion to get the bottom-up verison feature as well,
so I just want to make sure there is no much difference by not using the bottom-up
    version seperately.
Please correct me if I am wrong of using target version tha way we are planning to use.
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi kapil,
    Thanks for the response.
One question that I have before I go through the link and see what exactly you are saying(navigation in 11.1.2.0 planning)
is to assign the target version to the planning unit hierarchy. I understand you are saying to select distributed budgeting
option during the planning unit template creation, but can we assign target version in next steps(scenario and version
assignment for planning unit). I am not too sure how it is functioning in this release, but the technical document still says
    target version doesn't support workflows.
Please correct me if I am missing anything.

  • Bottom up Version is Read Only

In my data form, when I set the version to Target version in POV, I can get rows/columns to be writeable. However, when I change the version to bottom up, all rows/columns show up as read only, even when they are not. I am using the admin account to do all this. On the forms, none of the rows/columns are marked as read only.
any ideas why? Version is 11.1.2.

In target versions, you can input data to upper levels of dimensions. However in bottom up versions, you can only input data to bottom members even if you are admin. I suggest you make sure that in the form you are inputting data the dimension combinations are bottom member combinations.

  • Process Management for Standard Target Version

    Hi All,
I am newbie to hyperion, I am entering values at parent level by taking version type as "Standard Target", Is this possible to create Process Management for "Standard Target" versions? if yes how? Plz help me.
    Regards,
    Naresh R

I take it you are talking about planning, process management is for "Bottom Up Versions"
    From the docs
"Target versions use top-down budgeting. *Manage Process Tasks are not allowed*, and children of target members must be blank (for example, #MISSING) to enable data input at the top level."

  • Linksys WRT54GS HW Version 5.1: Can I use FW Ver.1.52.7?

    Hi Guys,
Quick question really. I live in the UK with a WRT54GS that has according to the sticker on the bottom Hardware Version 5.1. Using the UK Linksys site I have downloaded and installed FW Ver.1.50.9 dated 10/01/2006, as that is the latest version that is shown.
However using the USA site and selecting HW Version 5.0 I can download FW Ver.1.52.7 dated 07/27/2008 which many people have been using to solve an issue with an iPod touch wireless I've been having.
The question is can I safely flash a UK HW Version 5.1 WRT54GS with FW Version 1.52.7 from the USA site?
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • The behavior of aggregation of target version

    Hi,
New to use Target version. I wonder whether any different behavior of aggregation for target version in comparison to bottom up version?
    Thank you in advance.
    Casp

    Hi,
There is no difference whatsoever in terms of aggregation. However, if you wish to keep target values in parents unchanged after aggregation, you should place SET AGGMISSG OFF; on top of your business rule.

  • Is Appoval Process for Standard Target possible in 11.1.2.1

    Hi All,
We are testing Workflow Approval process in 11.1.2.1
The idea is to get a Free Flow approval process to work for a Standard Target Version member.
    So, we created 2 members in the Version dimension;
    1) Working - Standard Target
    2) BU_Ver - Bottom up
    After assigning access to respective users in entity, scenario and version dimensions;
and defining the planning unit, when I try to do Scenario and Version Assignment
I can only see the Scenario members and for Version selection the Bottom up (BU_Ver) member.
The Standard Target member (*Working*) does not appear in the drop down.
    My questions is;
    1) Is it possible to implement a free form workflow using Standard Target.
    Please help !!
    Thanks in advance.

I have similar situation with my client and I had below post few days back. I was hoping to get some feed back.
    Process management vs target vesrion
If the purpose is to know who is signing off and not to control read/write access during the approvals and rejections I am thinking of trying above post. I still need to test that and see if I am missing anything.
    Distributed budgeting: Oracle doc:
After the data is collected at the lower levels, the budget is submitted through the process management approval process. After all the budgets are submitted, >the top budget group owner reviews, approves, and loads the budgets for budgetary control, transaction control, and reporting.I think Oracle meant to copy data from 'target' to 'bottom-up' version before enabling process management (I donno what makes the difference of using distributed/free-form option during planning unit creation), it is still not clear enough for me.
Enabling 'bottom-up' forecast for detail level sales forecast is practically not an easy process and I may have to push back the scope on 'process management'
    Thanks

  • HFM tables for WDEF (Web Data Entry Form)

    Hi all,
is there a way for understanding which tables are used by the HFM for storing the member selections of the WDEF (Web Data Entry Form)?
I was able to find only the table <application>_RPTS which contains the list of reports and folders I creted into the application.
Now, I would like to retreive the tables where the info related to the member selections are stored.
Can someone help me on this topic?
    Thanks in advance

    1. I have selected all the base level members for all the dimensions
    2. In Scenario version selection of Start Year End Year as well as Start Period and End Period is OK
    3. It is Bottom up version
    4. Is Evaluation Order any issue?
    5. Few days back while refreshing the database I receive the error 1060051 toi resolve that we need to delete the duplicate members from Oracle Table. We also deleted Essbase database and recreated the same
    Thanks
PayousAre you logging in as admin, are they definitely all stored/never share level 0 members, is it a currency application.
Evaluation Order should not be an issue.
Point 5 is a little worrying, what did you do to resolve the issue? does it refresh without any issues now?

  • Solaris Update Release Query

As a requirement for Oracle 11g I need Solaris 10 to be on at least update 6.
I am currently on update 4.
Applying the patch bundle isn't an option as the 11g upgrade pre-req checks needs to see that /etc/release specificies u6 or greater.
What I'd like to know is, will installing the Oracle Solaris OS Recommended Patchset achieve this or do I need to go for an Update Release?
As far as I can see on this is that only the latest update release version is available through OTN which I can't use as our EMC software is not compatible with it and there is no fix yet. OTN points to MOS for older updates but I can only see Patch Bundles and Patch Sets.
    Many thanks in advance
    Paul

I have not used these myself but did you try the instructions near the bottom:
    "Older Versions of Solaris
Older versions of Solaris can also be requested by logging a Physical Media Request through My Oracle Support. Follow the instructions above. If a download is sufficient, please state this in the request."
I have no idea how long it would take to get Physical Media but that maybe your best option.
I do not have the details but I think some of the vendors have patches for the latest Solaris 10 update - maybe bugging them would be fruitful.

  • Planning form in read mode

    Hi John,
    We have a peculiar problem
In a form when we select YearTotal in column, the form is in read mode but when we select IDescendants of YearTotal, the form is write mode including the YearTotal field.
    We are using Planning 11v.
    Please suggest
    Thanks,
    Sravan

I would expect YearTotal to be read only against a bottom up version if only that member was on the form, if Idecendants(YearTotal) was used then I would expect it to be writeable.
If it was against a Target version then it should also be writeable.
    Cheers

  • Input data on parent

I'd like to input data on parent account and then allocate the amount on child account with allocation keys. Can I do that with hyperion planning? I'd like to do the same thing with parent and child entities.
    Best regards,
    Ludovic

Yes - this is possible. In order to do this in Hyperion Planning, your version must be setup as a "Target" version, and not a "Bottom-up" Version.
If you don't want to use a "target" version, designers will sometimes create "proxy" members that represent an upper-level member in a hierarchy (but are actually level 0). These can be used to hold amounts to be allocated. The benefit of this approach is that the amount to be allocated doesn't actually get overwritten with the results of the allocation. This can make testing and validations easier. With that said, these proxy members can be difficult to manage, especially if you need to allocate from many upper-level points in a hierarchy.
    Hope this helps,

  • PPD, PS, or UFRII driver for Canon Printers (C5035)

I admit posting this here is a little bit out of frustration, but getting support from Canon is horrible.  We have an imageRunner Advance C5035 witha fiery controller.  I am unsure what driver we should be using - PPD, PS, or UFRII.  There's little information on the support page on which one to choose.
I was told recently I had to get the separate fiery controller driver from EFI (http://w3.efi.com) which I did.  I installed the newest driver for Mavericks from Canon and the printer just prints lots of pages with one line of garbled characters at the top.
Any of you with Canon enterprise printers have any ideas?
If I use the latest driver I get an icon that most resembles our multifunction printer.  If I use an older version, the icon looks more like an old desktop laser printer.

    PAHU wrote:
The driver "Canon iR-ADV C5000s-B1 PSV1.0US" with the Fiery Features menu is the correct driver. But I did expect you to have a different icon, as EFI has updated their drivers and now use a printer icon with their logo. I will post an image of that icon when I get to work later today.
As for the drivers that do not have the Fiery Features menu, they are the Canon drivers for the internal Canon controller in the imageRUNNER copiers. When you selected to add and saw the two models after entering 5035 as the filter, the one listed with PS in the name is the Postscript driver and the other one is the UFRII driver. The UFRII driver does not work at all with the imagePASS controller, as you have found. And the Canon PS driver, even though it is Postscript and the imagePASS supports Postscript, is not compatible. So you must use the Canon iR-ADV C5000s-B1 PSV1.0US driver to print to the ADV C5035 that has an imagePASS-B1 attached.
It sounds like you are able to print fine using the B1 driver. Do you have an issue with using this driver?
No I don't.  I've had so many various issues with Canon drivers that I sought to use the latest driver and was dumbfounded why I can't use the latest 4.2.0 with OS X Mavericks.  So it seems that the only working driver is the version 2 one, an older one.  Some people in the office oddly have only had success using the OS X generic printer driver; again why I was hoping to get this newest one working or rather trying to figure out why it's not.
Here's the icons I have - tope one is older version 2 driver that works.  Bottom is version 4.2.0 driver that doesn't work properly.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Make level0 members un-available for planning

    Hi,
Is it possible to make level 0 members un-available for planning but to keep them in application for reporting purposes?
My managers will decide if we will use a project in forecasting but want to keep it for reporting purposes in the future.
    Thank you very much
    lubos

If you using bottom-up versioning then you need to enter data at level 0 so in that respect you can't set the level.
Maybe you need to approach it in a different way and have a reporting hiearchy and a planning hierarchy within your dimension.
