Bought a 160gb ipod to replace an old 60gb. Questions about Itunes

Should i use the existing itunes account and transfer all the existing content, from the old ipod, into the new one? It will be on Win 7 though.
Now, i have a second notebook (WinXP), with lots of memory and 160gb Hard Drive.
Should i use this notebook and install the new itunes there, for the new Ipod?
Or, is it possible to install a second Itunes account in the same notebook, without any conflict or incompabilities?
Thanks

There is no reason to create a new account. This would complicate matter greatly.
You can use whatever computer you like.
Why would you install another account. Again, this really makes thing difficult.
You can sync as many ipods as you like to one computer/library.

No. I have quite a few more 16,000, so I don't manually manage. Making playlists for each device makes things much easier to organize. You can create regular lists of essential tracks and smart playlists to automatically catch new content, top rated, most played etc. If you'd done it this way all along configuring a new or restored device would be the work of moments.

I restored it about 8 times and I've put music and videos but I always delete everything. I crushed and Selection Menu to enter diagnostic sistemade or ipod and I put the manual test where I enter the IO and q tells me everything is fine. I have already given several Format directly from the Windows 7 and anything either, I always delete everything from passing over 1300 songs and I congeal whole team. No longer have to think of this company because Apple gives no solution has this issue.

  • 160GB ipod classic 6th gen cant be recovered by itunes 12

My 160GB iPod Classic (6th Generation) cannot be recovered by iTunes 12. I plug the iPod into my Macbook Pro and it shows up in Finder. Then an iTunes message appears: "iTunes needs to prepare your iPod for recovery. Please leave your iPod connected." Then it is says that it is preparing my iPod for Recovery and then that dialog window closes and the iPod screen is a flashing Circle with slash and the line "Do not disconnect." under it. At this point the iPod is not visible in the side bar in iTunes 12 and this message goes on with no progress. I have left it for a while doing this and there is no change. After a while I'll disconnect and it if I try again the same thing happens. I have a dual-booted computer with both Mac OS Yosemite and Windows 8.1 and on the Windows 8.1 side iTunes is able to restore and set-up the iPod, therefore I know the iPod, the USB, and iTunes are all working. All my music is on my Mac side though, so I need to get this working on the mac side. I need help getting iTunes 12 on the Mac Side to restore my iPod.
    Thanks in advance for help!

disk utility is normally correct. you can try putting ipod in disk mode and control + click > get info on the ipod. see what the capacity is and it should have the 160 GB. in disk utility you can try verify disk. I would try to return the hard drive.

  • New 160Gb ipod classic will not be see in in Itunes V11.3.1(2)

I bought a new 160Gb Ipod classic. I bought it because my previous 2, older ipod classics, stopped syncing. One day they worked the next they didnt. I swear this happened after an Itunes update too. Anyway, I took one to Tekserve (local Apple service provider) and they told me one of the pins in the ipod i brought to them was damaged so the connection couldnt be made. I didnt really buy the answer, but since the ipod was older i figured, ok, I'll get a new one. Well I just got a new one. opened up the box, took out a new USB cord, plugged it into my computer and boom, NOTHING. The computer recognizes it in the Finder (MAC OS 10.6.8). Then again the MAC recognized my other 'broken' ipods too, Itunes just doesnt.
So I had hunch before this this problem has to be a software bug. Now its confirmed. There is no way a brand new ipod should not be seen in Itunes. Trust me i tried all the normal 'Ipod doesnt sync support stuff' and it doesnt  solve the problem. This is an advanced problem and one that i need  real answer on. Does an ipod classic work with Itunes  V11.3.1(2) running on a MAC 10.6.8 OS? Ipod classics still cost $250 which is ridiculous since the technology is 5 years old, so if Apple stopped supporting them on the new Itunes without making that know I think there should be some serious press about this!
    Please help.

Well I finally figured out the problem, not thanks to anyone from Apple for that matter. You would asume this problem has happened before and is still happening. The problem was I couldn't copy certain songs anymore from iTunes to my iPod Classic. When trying to copy certain songs I got an error.
If you have this problem it means your song file is corrupted. You can simply check this by trying to copy it from your hard drive to an external hard drive. Here you will also get an error message.
This means you need to replace all the corrupted files by a back up on your hard drive or download it again. I did this and now everything works fine.
Hope this will solve a lot of problems.

  • I just bought a new ipod and I'm trying to download my itunes library and games but itunes is not recognizing my new ipod. I have followed all the instructions from apple asistant except deleting and reinstalling itunes.  What can I do.

I bought a  new Ipod (5th generation).  I am trying to sync it to my itunes.  I tunes does not recognize my new ipod. It is registered.  I was only able to download purchases I made from my old ipod.  I cannot download my itunes library or any of the games I have purchased. I tried using the troubleshooting guide to no avail.  The only thing I did not do was to uninstall and reinstall itunes.  I did update it to the latest version. How can I get  itunes to recognize my new ipod?

    - You do have iTunes version 11 on the computer, right. Saying the latest is not sufficient.
    - Have you tried everthing here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - You should
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Your library/media will not be affected.
    - Does the iPod charge?

  • I bought a used ipod nano and it is associated to another itunes account. How can I change the itunes account to mine so I can register it to my account?

I bought a used ipod nano for my daughter and when I tried to register it, I got a message advising that it is registered to another iTunes account. How can I remove that association and associate it to our iTunes account?

Restore it in iTunes on your computer.
There is a difference between registering with Apple and using it with iTunes. To register it (which isn't necessary) you would have to get the previous owner to de-register it.

  • I just bought my kids Ipod Nanos - can we all use the same Itunes or do I have to load I-tunes for each Nano?

If you have multiple I-pods/Nano's does each one need their own Itunes icon?  How do you handle I tunes with multiple products?  I tries opening my current itunes and plugging in my kid's Nano.  Itunes just says "doesn't recognize" and instructs me to unplug.
    Please advise

It does not. See here for different ways to manage multiple iPods.
How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer
So iTunes is telling you unrecognized device or Windows telling you this?  You may need to uninstall and re-install the Nano's drivers.

  • New iPod owner - Quick question about iTunes and iPod

Hey everyone. I just bought the new 5.5G black 30GB.
I have a lot of untagged MP3s, but my boyfriend tagged most of them. After I overwrite the untagged files (but with the same filename) with the tagged files, now that I have all of my music on iTunes and on my iPod, how do I get iTunes to do a mass refresh and see all the tags, so it can show them properly and update the iPod accordingly?
Also, my new ipod keeps crashing! It keeps freezing when I hit the skip button or try to do something when it's loading a video or a song. It just seems really unstable. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

    oh sorry i misunderstood you
this is from i-tunes help - is this any good
Song titles look scrambled after importing from another application
If a song's title and information don't appear correctly, the file was probably created using a program that stores information in a different way from iTunes. You may be able to resolve the problem by reversing the Unicode characters in the song tags.
    To reverse the Unicode characters:
Select the song and choose Advanced > Convert ID3 Tags.
To select multiple adjacent songs, press the Shift key while you click the song titles. To select multiple songs that are not adjacent, press the Control key and click.
    Click Reverse Unicode.
To change the information back to what you had before, choose Reverse Unicode again.

  • Old Toad, question about your demo website and simple-viewer.

This is for Old Toad. I checked out your demo site which is awesome. I read the tutorial,
*Examples of SimpleViewer and Flash Album Exporter Slideshows (plugins for iPhoto)*
*ADDED USING HTML SNIPPET AND IFRAME*
This was great but I am still running into a roadblock. The issue seems to be that in the URL that is given on your demo page...
    *http://web.me.com/youraccountname/slideshow folder/index.html*
....it says to enter my account name (which I did).
I am uploading the simple-viewer folder to my iDisk using the Go menu but inside of the Web/Sites folder there is no folder called Slideshow Folder. So am I right in thinking that the URL has nothing to point too because that folder isn't there? Why isn't it there? And is there anything I can do to solve this? Is there another place the simple-viewer folder should be on my idisk?
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

How did you resolve this? I am almost at breaking point trying figure it out?

  • IPod touch to iPhone 4 switch, question about backing up one to the other..

So, I have a 3rd gen iPod touch and I will soon have my Verizon iPhone 4. The iPod is loaded with apps and email settings and all that good stuff. Can I plug in the new iPhone and make it a carbon copy of the iPod? Is there a "restore from back up" option, or something to that effect?

When you connect your new phone to iTunes for the first time, you will be given the option of restoring from the backup of your touch or setting up as new. If you chose to restore from the backup of your touch & follow such by syncing the same iTunes content to your new phone, it will look just like your touch when finished.

  • Just bought a 3TB Firewire Drive for Time Machine, a Question About Mixing Files or Paritioning

I have two internal HDs, one 1.5TB spinning drive and a 60GB SSD for the OS and apps. Externally I have 2-1TB FW drives that I use for media files & other data. I would like to use the 3TB as my failsafe TM backup, but I wonder if 2TB is enough in the short term? I know TM backups get big, but I'm hoping by just backing up the internals and using Crashplan for all I could quickly recover from a HD disaster locally.
Here's my question, is there any downside to mixing Time Machine backups and "regular" files (docs, media, emails) on the same Time Machine drive or would I be better served partitioning this drive 2/1? Is there any advantage to partitioning to keep TM on its own parition?
And do you think that 2TB is sufficient for say the next 6-months to 1-year to hold 1.56TB of data?
    Thanks!

There's no way to predict how long it will take to fill up a TM volume. That depends on your usage pattern. If you have large files that change often, it will fill up a lot faster than it will if you have only small files that change often.
The surest way to fill up a TM volume quickly is to back up the virtual disk files created by virtualization software such as VMware. Those files should be excluded from TM backup, and their contents should be backed up from within the guest OS, using tools native to that OS.
When the volume does fill up, snapshots will be deleted to make room for new ones, oldest first. Files still on the source volumes will never be deleted.
People on this site often give the advice that the size of the TM volume should be at least some particular multiple of the size of the source volumes, such as 2 or 3. I don't know what evidence that advice is based on, if any. It seems completely arbitrary to me.

  • Doesn't it get very old, same question about running dos command?

To everyone who is tooo lazy to search.
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("progname arg1 arg2");
What a wast of everyone's time responding to the same question on how to run a dos command.

    I think you'll find it's
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(new String[]{"progname", "arg1", "arg2"});

  • Can I use my old accessories for a 40GB (4G) iPod with new 160GB iPod Classic?

    I just purchased a 160GB (7G) iPod Classic. I had been using a 40GB (4G) iPod.
The male connectors on  the accessories I used with my 40GB iPod seem to fit into the female connector on my new 160 GB. So, I am wondering if I can use these old accessories with my new 160GB iPod Classic. The old accessories I used with my 40GB (4G) iPod are as follows.
    1) Wall charger made by Apple. It has a firewire connection at one end of the charger cord which connects to  the small white plastic box of the charger that plugs into the wall. The other end of the charger cord seems to fit my iPod 160GB Classic.
    2) Dock made by Apple. It uses a firewire connection cord to my computer, in contrast to the USB connection cord that came with my 160GB iPod Classic.
    3) Car chargers that worked with my old 40GB, 4G  iPod. The car charger connectors seems to fit my new 160GB iPod Classic. One car charger is made by Apple. The other is not made by Apple.
So, could you please tell me if I can use any or all of these old accessories with my new 160GB Classic without damaging it.
    Thanks.
