Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... give the new User a different name than an existing one.

  • How do I change my icloud email when don't know the old password after I have changed my apple ID email address and the password? icloud is still online with my old email address!!!

    I got a new phone but backed it up through my itunes, and when I tried to use icloud it kept telling me I have forgotten my password, when I really really didn't. So I went to settings > itunes&appstore and changed my password, but also changed the email address too while I was at it, since I've always wanted to change it. But now here's the problem. My iphone's icloud is currently logged in with my old apple ID email address, which seems to not work with the new password, so I can't log it or even delete the account off my iphone. And ovbiously, I don't know the old password that I have "forgotten", as my phone tells me. There seems to be no way of changing the icloud account now.... What should I do?!

    So what was the solution. I have a similar problem on all of my devices now

    With iOS 7 there’s no workaround.

    If you have a verified rescue email then you can get an email sent to that email address to reset the security questions as shown in the article below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5312
    If you do not have access to the rescue email or you do not receive the reset email then you will need to contact AppleCare for assistance:

    I've had an Apple ID under an old email address. I have a new Apple ID under my current email. Is there a way to link or merge the two together? I don't remember the old password and that email address is no longer active. If I cannot link or merge the two, how can I activate the old ID on the new computer if that email account is no longer active?? Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance!!

    You cannot merge accounts.
    You need to sign into the old account on your computer.

  • HT4759 How can i delete an old iCloud account and start using my own using my Apple ID? If I don't have the old password??

    How can i delete an old iCloud account and start using my own using my Apple ID? If I don't have the old password??

    If your device is signed into an old iCloud ID that is an earlier version of the ID you want to sign in with, do the following:
    If you are using iMessage and FaceTime, make sure you are signed into these services with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
    Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless you are using iCloud Photo Library).  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

  • HT201240 I want to resest the administrator password but I don't remember the old password and I don't have the start up disc. Is there a way around this?

    I'm trying to install a program update and the password that I thought I set isn't working. I don't have any start-up disk and need help resetting the password.

    Here's one method to reset the password without the install disc:
    1. boot computer and hold the "apple" key and the "s" key.
    2. wait for terminal show
    3. release keys
    4. type without the quotes: "/sbin/mount -uaw"
    5. press enter
    6. type without the quotes: "rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
    7. press enter
    8. type without the quotes: "reboot"
    9. press enter
    This will let you create a new admin account when you reboot your computer.
    Also, without the discs, look at Mac OS X Tip - No Password, No Root, No CD? No Problem.
    http://www.macobserver.com/tip/2003/06/16.1.shtml
    Here is a way to get around not knowing the admin password on Macs.
    To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
       1. Reboot
       2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
       3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
              * mount -uw /
              * rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
              * shutdown -h now
       4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!

  • I erased my iPad but the old user apple id keeps popping up and i don't remember the old password

    Recently, I changed my old apple id because i could no longer excess the old email address.  An apple tech helped me change my apple id but i was unable to update anything.  I was told to erase my I pad so that the new apple id would come on.  Well i didn't  know that i had linked the i pad to find my phone. It wants me to put in the old password and to the old apple id but i don't remember it.  I can't get pass the old activation screen.

    If you activated find my ipad while using the old ID, it is activation locked.

  • HT204053 how do I change email address on icloud for my phone?  somehow I have another email address on my laptop and want them to be the same plus I don't know the old/phone password

    How do I change the email associated with Icloud on my phone.  It's not my mail apple id, its and old one and I don't know the password anymore.  I have another apple ID associated with my ipad and laptop and the icloud works great with that.  I just did the new iphone update and now its constantly asking for the icloud/apple id - the one I don't even know the password for anymore and it keeps popping up all the time.

    If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple IDand that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
    This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
    However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
    The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
    You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.
