  • My MACBook Pro has been stolen. Is there any possibility to know the MAC Address from serail number? If I well understood the MAC address can not be changed and therefore the MACBook could be found if connected to Internet. Thanks for any support. Cri

My MAC Book Pro has been stolen one month ago. I would like to know if the MAC address (that should be an unique identifier of the MAC) can be found in order to trace where the computer is should it be connected to Internet. Thanks for any support on this matter! Cristina

  • Is there a reason why my macbook pro didn't come with a disc?

Is there a reason why my macbook pro didn't come with a disc?

If you just bought it and it came with Lion then you don't get a DVD. Instead what they have done is created a Recovery Partition on the drive that serves the same function.

thank you, I have the adaptors so glad that would work.  I just heard adaptors burn out often.  So Just thought for my main iMac computer, a plug would be best.  I will get one once I move.
Any other suggestions or things I should know about apple products in Ireland.  I know there are no Apple stores there.
An adaptor doesn't burn out. It merely serves as a means to connect the power prongs on your device to the power supply.
I believe you are thinking of a transformer, which you do not need. A transformer converts one voltage to another.
You don't need to do that as the power supply of modern electronics can take almost any worldwide voltage.
Look at the label on the device. It should indicate the input power acceptable of 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
Additionally, I found the adapters cheaper in the UK than I found them in the US. They were available in most supermarket chains. I wasn't in Ireland, so I can't say one way or the other.
If you have something that doesn't have that input power spec, it would require a transformer.
On other items like electric clocks or things with motors, you can connect them up to a transformer and the voltage will be correct, but the frequency may not. For clocks, that will cause them to not keep time well. For motors, they will burn out.

    Hello, eco1.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like you are wanting to move your iTunes media folder to an external drive and have iTunes this folder from this location.  If this is the case then I would recommend taking a look at the article below.

I am not able to sync my outlook contacts with my iphone (both ways) noting that the calendar and notes are suncing perfectly (both ways)?

You cannot sync Outlook 2011 directly with an iPhone, but if you go to the Tools menu and choose Sync Services, you can have Outlook sync with iCal and Address Book, which will then sync with the iPhone. And if your business is using Microsoft Exchange, you can set the iPhone up to communicate and sync directly with the Exchange server.

  • Is there any way to match the dock and USB to the iphone it goes with?

We have several iphones in our household.  An iphone 3, two iphone 3S and two iphone 4S.  Our teenage daughter keeps snatching everyone's charger and then claims innocence.  Funny thing, everyone's chargers are all gone and she's the only one who has one left.  We've never caught her red-handed, but we know without a doubt she's the little thief in the house.  Is there any way to match the dock and USB to the iphone it goes with?

A charger is only connectors plastic and rubber you Can MAKE one yourself with wires so no memories

Sorry, but that opportunity has long passed. Your options now are:
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps - App compatibility and feature support for OS X & iOS.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.

  • Macbook Pro is picking up television audio. Any way to stop this?

Just recently moved into a new house and my MacBook has started to pick up a television audio source and it will play through both my speaker setup and my headphones. It is only amplified enough when the charger is plugged in or a minidisplay adapter is plugged in. Is there anyway to stop or fix this? It is becoming quite annoying when listening to music or streaming video on my TV.

Yes, it's noise in the audio channel and Apple used to have a support document on it but it's gone.
Ok, there is a few of ways noise can get into the audio channel.
Say you have speakers hooked up to your Mac, you have the volume of the Mac low and the amplifier of the speakers set high. This will increase the unwanted noise, so instead reverse the situation, increase the volume on the Mac and lower the amplifier.
Another way is if your analog audio cables are too close to other wires carrying a strong signal, the electromagnetic field influences the electrons in the audio cable.
Another way is noise is coming back through your power, modem or cable and either being picked up by your Mac or by your amplifier.
Now it seems because you are hearing phone calls and if it's coming from the Mac speakers, you perhaps need a DSL filter on the line someplace, forget where it's supposed to go as I haven't used a the phone lines in many years.
Did you try that? Do you have any speakers or amplifiers or is the noise coming from the computer?
Ideally, a Toslink stereo mini optical to standard Toslink adapter and cable should be used to connect a Mac to a high quality stereo/surround sound system as optical doesn't get the noise in the audio channel.

  • How can I backup my mac on a Time Capsule (connected with ethernet), without any user logged on the mac?

Time Machine by default does not run when no user is logged in, there's some way to let backups run without any user logged on the mac?
I need to backup 3 iMac connected through ethernet network to a Time Capsule.
    Some hint?

If you use eithernet for your main connection then just plug the TC bridged into the network.
If you use wireless for your internet connection then you can use the TC isolated from the network by ethernet.. but this is really only convenient on a desktop Mac.
The instructions I put in this thread with screenshots.. see near the bottom.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4817218?tstart=30
It is a bit tricky so if you have questions ask back here.
Just to say a USB for firewire external drive is faster and more reliable than a TC.. cheaper to buy as well.. although since you already have the TC that is not a concern.. but you can ebay the TC and buy a bigger and better external drive with the proceeds.

They are free,      your friend made a mistake,
he needs to open http://supportprofile.apple.com and log in with his Apple ID. Then, choose "Edit Products" and remove the MacBook Air.
that macbook needs to be disassociated with his ID
then recover ( http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/ ) the machine as new from box state with Imovie and Iphoto installed at that point under your user name / ID
