Bought a new Apple Macbook Air. it came with Lion. Why?

i just bought a new MBA from an official Apple Reseller in Greece. Although they advertise that the MBA comes with Mountain Lion preinstalled, my MBA came with Lion... Why? could anyone explain this to me? When i asked an guy at the store he did not have an idea... of course he did not came with a solution as well... How do i claim a reddem if that

I was trying all morning to get in communication with the Apple Support tel no in Greece without a resunl. Kept on getting ''wrong number'' message... So i tried to come up with a solution with the Official Apple Reseller from where i bought my MBA. At first when i described my situation to the first employee, he was staring at me like i was from another galaxy... so i asked for the director manager... He showed up eventuallly. When i spoked with him he told my how sorry he was, and that there was no way to check the version of osx preinstalled on MBA's. So he offered me an iTunes gift card of 30 euros(2 of 15 euros each) to download ML myself from the Mac Appstore. So everything turned out perfect for me...

MacBook Air 2014 came with 12 charge cycles

I just got a brand new 13" MacBook Air from an authorized apple reseller, I went to check the battery cycles and there are already 12 on it even though I have only plugged it in once. Does anybody have an explanation for this? thanks

For what it's worth (and I don't mean to concern you at all as it is most likely very normal), I just checked the cycles on a Brand New Macbook Pro 13-inch (Mid 2012) and it has completed 0 charge cycles. I broke the seal myself and checked immediately without use.

I just bought my new MacBook Pro 17 in with Lion OS. Can someone recommend where I can find all of the features and tricks. The best book or sites etc. I new to apple OS. Amazon has a about 20 books and Youtube vids are short with minimal information.

I bought a used macbook air (newest model) with lion and when I try and install iPhoto it says "These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID. These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases "

I am a new mac user so there is a lot that I don't yet know or understand. The previous owner did a clean re-install of lion and my air is covered under warranty till August. We called apple when I bought it to make sure it wasn't stolen and registered it to me. I am just trying to be able to transfer my pictures from my iphone to my air. I also want to set up icloud which looks like it requires iphoto. Also, what are the other iLife apps? I have a feeling I will encounter the same issues with those. Thanks for your help.

If new versions of iPhoto and the other iLife applications (iMovie and GarageBand) were purchased by the previous owner from the Mac App Store, then they will be locked to the previous owner's Apple ID and cannot be transferred to you. You will have to re-purchase them under your own Apple ID.
If this is an older MBA that came with Snow Leopard or an earlier version of Mac OS X, though, the system would have come with an installation disk that included the iLife applications, a disk which the seller should have provided to you. Those iLife applications would be older versions, of course, and may or may not work in Lion depending on how old they are.

Macbook Air is preinstalled with Lion but not marked as "Installed" in app store

Hi all
I'm trying to restore my macbook air and im at the step to restore lion in recovery mode. When i proceed to install, I'm asked to login with my app store id then i get the message "You must sign in with an apple id that was used to purchase lion"...... but lion is already pre-installed when I bought my macbook air.
After checking in the app store, it's isnt marked as "installed" as per other posts i've seen but it has the price $29.99.
Do I have to buy Lion again just to restore my macbook?

That's why. You didn't buy it from the App store.
You can only get a physical copy of it if you buy the OS separately.
There's no reason to need a physical copy unless you are trying to install it on another machine, which you don't have a licence to when Lion is pre-installed. It's analogous to the old gray disk/white disk difference in the old days. Gray disk (comes with your computer) can't install on any other machine. White disk (you buy the OS separately) will install on anything.
If you need to re-install on your own machine, you use the Recovery disk or the Internet recovery mode.

Installing Snow Leopard on macbook pro that came with Lion?

I recently bought a new MBP, model MC721LL/A, that was originally released with Snow Leopard. When I received it I found out that it had Lion installed. Can I install Snow Leopard on it? I have some software that is NOT Lion compatible and am waiting for an update, but till then wanted to stay with Snow Leopard.
Also, can I leave the Lion Restore partition on the hard drive for future use or will I need to do some kind of backup os the entire OS?

Mine did not include snow leopard disks.
I did try to startup from my Snow Leopard disk but it never finished the startup
Where did you get the Snow Leopard disc from if you did not originally have it? In either case, the one you have now did you get it from the previous owner? You need the system discs that originally came with the computer.
As to how to downgrade an os from Lion to Snow Leopard, you should post in the Mac OS X v10.7 Lion forum area.

Macbook Air 1.1 with Lion 10.7.5 to Mavericks or Yosemite?

I am in possession of an early Macbook Air 1.1 that is running Lion 10.7.5 and I would like to update the OS. I was wondering if the hardware is compatible with the new OS updates and welcome any help on the subject. Also, my software update will not connect to the server, despite my wi-fi connection being in working condition. Anything helps!

I just bought the new 2013 macbook air and I was trying to stream to a flash media server with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and Wirecast, but onfortunately both of them say that they can't find a video capture device.
What might be the cause of this?
