Bought a new computer running windows 8.1 and it will not allow me to install all in one lexmark printer.

I have this lexmark printer running on 3 other computer, windows 7 and windows xp, but in 8.1 I get a message saying incompatable. What is really going on?

If your printer is not compatible with Windows 8.1, you can try to install the driver in Windows 8.1 compatible mode, otherwise, you have to contact the manufacturer to ask for the update driver for Windows 8.1.

I tired to reinstall snow leopard with the install DVD that came with my iMac. However the disc is damaged so I bought a new Snow Leopard but my iMac wont read the new disc, it just stays in the apple logo screen, I have tired safe boot, holding down the "C" key on startup and tried using disc utility but getting nowhere.

Might be related, if your hard drive is a 1TB drive,it could be a Seagate drive.
The drives are known to fail and your iMac maybe covered for free replacement under the Apple's Seagate hard drive replacement program until April 12 of this year.
I Believe the 2009 models are covered under this replacement warranty.

I have Thunderbird on Windows 8.1 and it will not allow me to open an excel spreadsheet from an e-mail.

If I receive an e-mail with an excel attachment on it or an attachment that has 'dat.' at the4 end of it, the attachment won't open when I try to open it. Most frustrating.

To get Thunderbird to open a dat Text file file using Excel.
Right click on attachment and choose 'Open'
A window opens asking what to use.
select 'Open with'
click on the drop down selection and choose 'Other'.
A small window opens showing a selection.
If Microsoft Excel is not in the list, click on 'Browse' button
a window opens showing your 'Program files'
If your OS is Win8.1 and 64bit version and Office 2010 32bit version, to find Office programs the default path may say:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\ This is the 64bit version path for Win8.
It is also the standard directory if using Vista 32bit.
So if your OS is Win8.1 64bit version you need to choose the 32bit path:
C:\'''Program Files (x86)'''\Microsoft Office\
locate and click on 'Microsoft Office'
click on 'Office 12' folder
The number eg: '12' depends on the version: I have 2007
so if you use 2010 then it will be in Office 14 folder - list is below to choose correct folder.
* 9 = Office 2000
* 10 = Office 2002/XP
* 11 = Office 2003
* 12 = Office 2007
* 14 = Office 2010
Now you should see 'Excel.exe' , This is the file you are looking for.
Select 'Excel.exe' and click on 'Open'
If you want Thunderbird to remember this and use it each time to open dat file, select the checkbox 'Do this automatically for files like this from now on.
click on Ok
This will now open a dat file from the attachments in an email using excel.
It will be listed in Tools-Options-Attachments-Incoming tab.

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. The easiest thing to do is backup your old computer with an external hard drive. Then import all of your files from the external hard drive to the new computer. I just did this about two months ago myself. The biggest problem I had was that it did not keep any of my playlists that I had spent many years developing. However, there is a supposed way to be able to keep the playlists if you do your research on this website (which I did not do first, only after the fact) and follow the steps they guide you with.

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod. And here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music back to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

Also, when I wanted to keep a clip, I just right clicked and a menu appeared and I would then click on "Save as" or similar. Now there doesn't appear to be any way to save the clips. Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

If the CD absolutely requires that old version, then it is basically obsolete. However, it might work with the current version ... have you installed the current version of Adobe Reader, and if so what does it say when you try to use the CD?

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
