Bought a new iMac today and Garageband is not installed?

So, I was told that my iMac would come installed with the Mountain Lion OS X installed. It's not. When I do a software update check it tells me that it's up to date. I was also told that my iMac would have Garageband and iMovie on it and that it would all be free. None of this is installed and when I look on the app store, everything costs between 15-20 dollars...each! So, I went ahead and purchased all of it, and it won't download! Can anyone tell me what to do?

New iPod Touch devices require a minimum of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 in addition to a fairly recent version of iTunes. If you are running Tiger (10.4) or earlier, you can't just update to Leopard for free; you have to buy it.

Unfortunately, adobe doesn't have photoshop elements 6 available for download, as far as i know, so your best bet is to either get an usb dvd drive or use an computer with a dvd drive and copy the contents of the pse 6 dvd to somethiing like
a flash drive and then copy the contents from that drive to your new computer.
Do you still have your older mac and it has a dvd drive?
You can share files between the two using airdrop or an ethernet cable.

Are you migrating from a Mac or a MS Window machine? Either way you probably should be in touch with AppleCare, you have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support. I meant to say 5.1 the problem I've got is it's saying it does support ppc software but I have got the intel version but for some reason won't install from disc but if I transfer from time-machine backup it works

A PPC G5 cannot run any version of OS X beyond Leopard 10.5.8.
You should be able to find a Leopard retail (black) install disk on eBay. A grey update disk is machine specific and won't work.

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

I just bought an new iMac 27 and is trying to transfer all my data from a late 2009 iMac 27

I need your help. I connected the old Mac as a disk to the new one with Firewire / Thunderbolt adapter, went through the Migration Assistant menu. The new iMac rebooted and started with setup process again, did this twice then I tried to restore from Time Machine backup, only the user account and data. It started well off but now it hangs with 4.31 hours left. What can I do ?, please help men on this.

I bought a new macbook pro and now every time i try to buy anything with my apple id it doesn't go through. I tried Ibooks and iTunes but neither one will work. I have registered this computer and even tried unregistering all the other computers but that did not do anything. I also checked my form of payment and that is not the problem either because i have no problems what so ever buying anything on my iPhone or my desktop computer.
It is just this computer.
I try to buy something and something pops up and says... "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-45054). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later."
And i have been trying later for 2days now.

I just bought a new Macbook Pro and under current operating system, it list OS X 10.9.1 as my current system and says I can update to Mavericks. Isn't 10.9.1 the newest OS for Mac? This is my first Mac and I'm not sure about the way it lists the OS systems in the "about this computer tab". I tried to update to Mavericks and it will not allow me to update, despite meeting all of the above requirements. Can anyone help me?

I recently got a new hard drive and now I cannot install drivers from the recovery disk.

Exactly which hard drive is it? Give us the specific model so we can look it up.

If you have restored the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media, that probably means you restored to a drive with the new advanced-format technology.
Try installing this driver.
