  • Should I delete my old iPhoto Library Current folder once everything is transferred to Photos Library Current?    Does this mean that all my new photos on any device can come off my Mac and ONLY be in the Photos Library which is in the cloud?

I have 2 questions about the new Photos app for Mac (I'm running 10.10.3 on my MacBook Air 1.8GHz Intel Core i5 mid 2012)):
1.Should I delete my old iPhoto Library Current folder once everything is transferred to Photos Library Current?
    2. Does this mean that all my new photos on any device can come off my Mac and ONLY be in the Photos Library which is in the cloud?  That would free 59GB off my Mac and that would be very good.

You can, but I would wait, until you have have been working with Photos for some time and are sure, that everything migrated well. There may be hidden flaws in your library and teething problems with Photos. Don't be in a hurry to abandon iPhoto completely. You may need to go back, until bugs have been fixed.  Th Photos Library does not duplicate the photos in your iPhoto Library. the media files are shared and do not need extra space: See:  Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support

If you have enough iCloud storage.  But Photos will still need space for local thumbnails on all devices.
See:  Apple - OS X - Photos Preview
Fill your library, not your device.
iCloud Photo Library can help you make the most of the space on your Mac. When you choose “Optimize Mac Storage,” all your full-resolution photos and videos are stored in iCloud in their original formats, with storage-saving versions kept on your Mac as space is needed. You can also optimize storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, so you can access more photos and videos than ever before. You get 5GB of free storage in iCloud — and as your library grows, you have the option to choose a plan for up to 1TB.

  • TS4006 when using iCloud between mac and pad, what does this mean - "your iPad will  no longer back up to your computer automatically when you sync with iTunes"

when using iCloud between mac and pad, what does this mean - "your iPad will  no longer back up to your computer automatically when you sync with iTunes"
DONT WORRY EVERYONE, FOUND THE ANSWER I NEEDED FROM ANOTHER POSTING - THANK YOU

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You don't need to do anything, you have chosen to back up to iCloud instead of iTunes.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

  • New Ipad Air 2 setup already has an icloud email addess - does that mean its not a new device?

I bought a new Ipad Air 2 today from PCWorld - eagerly started setup only to find someone elses icloud id registered on the device.  Does that mean my new ipad is infact a used ipad??

Yes, you likely got a returned (already purchased by someone else) device. Return it where you purchased it from and get a new device. No NEW Apple device will have someone's email address on it.

  • Apparently, my company email that I have on my ipad prevents me from manually backing up to icloud. Does this mean that icloud is being blocked entirely from my ipad?

If my company email on my ipad blocks me from manually backing up to icloud, does this mean that icloud is being blocked from my ipad completely?

I'm not sure if they can completely block iCloud if you have your own Apple ID. I assume that they just don't want their data backed up to Apple's cloud.
But the more important point in this whole discussion is would the company be honked off at you for doing something on the iPad that they do not approve of.

  • Just purchased a new iPad,I have an iPod with all my songs and videos And I want to copy across to my new iPad,how can I sasseson, and want to transfer these to my new iPad,can't seem to find a simple way of doing this, and it seems to be a basic neccessity

i have just purchased my new ipad and I want to transfer my iPod library of music and videos to the iPad,how do I do this easily, seems to be a basic neccessity

Is your iPod synced with an iTunes library on your Mac or PC?
If so, is your iPad also synced to the same Mac/PC?
iTunes allows you to share music and videos between both your iPod and your iPad.

  • Before I transfer files from my PC to the new imac should I load office for Mac and parallees? Will this mean I have to open the new account on my imac first and thus have two user accounts when I transfer the PC? I would prefer to only have one account.

IIt was in my mind to load office then transfer. After to load paralels and transfer my windows system. I have a new copy of office for Mac plus paralels PC to Mac transfer version 8. As this is my first mac (I have ipads and iphones) I am unsure of what to do. Also to confuse matters I use a windows laptop as my sync machine for the phones and ipads (i do have a cloud account with backup) can I transfer both machines to my new imac? I will have a 1tb fusion drive + 2tb time capsule although I only have less than 400GB of data on both machines. Hope this is not too confusing for everyone but I am looking forward to sorting this mess out by just using the one machine.

Use the Office for Mac and ignore using Parallels for that. If you have PC only apps you have to run that are MS Windows only then consider Parallels. Just transfer your main PC, using Migration Assistant.  If you don't know how then simply read over Pondini's article called Lion or Mountain Lion Setup Assistant tips and look for the section on migrating from a PC. Millions have done what you are about to, it's far from leading edge these days, if you go to an Apple Store to purchase they will offer this as a service, something you might be interested in.

check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in finder, right-click on it and get info. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings.
next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and apply to enclosed items like so
the important part is to apply to enclosed items !

  • Does this mean I need a new battery?

I have a MacBook Pro that I've had since 2007 that I'm having issues with.  For the most part it's been a champ except for some battery issues that seem to be getting worse.
I upgraded the OS to mountain lion a while back and shortly after that I noticed my battery would drain SUPER fast.  I'd charge it all the way and shut it for the night, only to find out the next morning it was dead, or almost dead. Found out that, for reasons I still haven't been able to figure out or fix, it doesn't go to sleep when I close the lid anymore.  So now I have to put it to sleep first before I close it.  That solved part of my problem, but my battery was still draining faster than it was before.  I can let it charge all night, but only be able to use it without it being plugged in for an hour or two.
Well now the bigger problem is that it has started to get REALLY hot, and really fast.  It used to only get hot if I had too many things open or was watching a movie.  But now it gets hot if I've just been browsing the net for 15 minutes or more.  It gets so hot, I can hardly touch it.  My temporary solution has been to set it on some ice packs wrapped in a towel, which works really well.  But obviously, it's inconvenient and there's clearly a problem here.
Do these things mean I need to replace my battery?

Maybe, but the heat has nothing to do with the battery. Make a new admin account, reboot into it, verify that the heat problem and the short battery life are still there. Post back.

I just tried to purchase a song and incountered an error msg. #5002 what does this mean?  I'm new to using itunes.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from the music section of your iTunes library, close & then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • When you recieve an email from apple saying "welcome to your new mac" what does this mean

    hey people
i recieved an email saying "welcome to your new mac"
i have already got a imac and was wondering if this means someone has purchesed another mac?
    thanks

Did the email ask that you click on a link or provide additional information about yourself? If so it's a phishing scam. Delete the message and ignore it.
If you did buy a new computer sometime recently, then it's just a welcome email, nothing more.
