Bought a new iPod touch....syncing

I bought a new iPod touch the 8GB....my current one will be used by my husband and young daughter. So when I go to install the new iPod, will it automaticly sync my contents or will it erase my contents from my library...I will use same acct, so it should be fairly easy to install new one should it not?
I just found that 3 people and 3 computers for one iPod was getting to be a hassel.....

iTunes will recognise your iPod as a new and individual device and you can choose to manage it however you choose. Each iPod has it's own settings and using multiple iPods does not erase anything from your library.

Try authorize this computer in the store menu in Itunes. This worked for me. It seems that this is an account problem on iTunes.

Is the iPod that connects an iPod touch? If not that does not mean anything since iOS devices like iPod touch, iPhone and iPad use different drivers than other iPods.

Connect it to his iTunes library and set it up as a new device. You should be prompted to Erase and Sync the iPod if his iTunes library is separate from hers.
Or head to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all Content and Settings.

Download the apps on your syncing computer and then sync to the iPod. Note that you can only sync apps for the one syncing computer you use with the iPod. You can manage music and videos among different computer.

Ok, so, a couple of things: Denisefromwaleska and I have the exact same size/type/color iPod. Now wishing I'd bought the black one maybe...
Second, Airport is an Express and I have a second one that I carry with me when I travel. Tried to connect my Airport Express to the internet and could not although the iPod did recognize the router and tried to connect to the internet for some time, unlike my previous problem. Updated firmware on my travel router, still could not connect to the internet. Going to try to set up a manual Static IP on the travel router here in a few and conect through it although I predict the problem will persist. Back on the Christmas Present Airport Express router, it is back in play and working fine for all devices save the iPod.

Are you sure of that? Check in the Library. Click on the Apps icon to see all apps. Similarly click on the Music icon to see the songs.

You probably won't be able to find an iPod in a store with 2.0 for a few weeks. Stores have to clear out their stock of iPods with older firmware, first. Good luck getting 2.0 for free
