Bought a SSD today for my MacPro 5,1, need a little .help
Hi,
Today I bought a 512GB Samsung SSD 850 PRO for my MacPro late 2012 (5,1).
However it does not fit in the drive holder tray thing(s) for the 3.5 HDDs, so I put it where a second Optical Drive would go for the moment until I get my self one of those 2.5-3.5 things. (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other+World+Computing/MMP35T25/)
It does work to have it in the optical drive bay, however I would assume that the 550MB/s on the spec sheet of the SSD wouldn't be as effective so to speak, which is the reason I will move it to where it is supposed to be. I have moved my windows installation using the software that came with the drive so that windows is now running of the drive itself. But when my 2.5 drive holder arrives, and I disconnect the SSD from the optical drive area, will my computer recognise that I moved it? I would assume yes, since you could hold the option key booting it and it would find all the OS volumes and you could just hit the one you want and boot the computer. Am I right? If I am not, should I move my windows back to the HDD before moving my SSD?
Also, I have not yet ordered a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter, does anyone have any suggestions for which one to get or where to start looking for them?

The 550 MB/s speed is an SATA III speed. Your Mac Pro's built in SATA controller is a SATA II controller and operates at half the speed of SATA III. Unless you buy a SATA III PCIe card with internal connectors you will not see 550 MB/s from your SSD.

Lost notes from last 2 weeks, coincides with when I began receiving iCloud notification that iPhone 5 and iPad 2 could not be backed up due to limited space. Purchased additional space on iCloud today and still no notes.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Grey Screen, so, bought a new HD for MBP and still grey screen! Please help
The first thing I did was I used CCC to copy the image to the new HD and still got the grey screen, I then tried SuperDuper, same result, grey screen, the old image is still attached wonder if that makes a difference but I selected STARTUP DRIVE as the new HD, I even ran the fix permissions and apple files from DiskWarrior and when I ran Disk Utilities, it passes. I then took out the battery and held the power button down, thought I was getting somewhere as the blue screen stayed BLUE about five seconds longer before going grey.

I have used Drive Genius 3, Tech Tool 5 and Disk Warrior.
Most say the preferences or repair is okay, but I get a grey screen OOOORRRRR I get an never ending Apple Logo that spins forever.
Would I use the migrations assistant BEFORE the final BOOTUP to the OS, rather will it give me that option before I create a new account?

I have three external hard drives, all with new cables.
I cloned the Leopard to the new HD and like I said, sometimes it says ok, but still get stuck on grey screen, or endless apple logo.
Is there a way to boot into SAFE mode via external?
I notice unless I do a PRAM reset, sometimes I won't hear the APPLE BOOT UP tone and am not sure if after the tone you PRESS SHIFT until you see the APPLE LOGO or BOTH THE APPLE LOGO and GEARS, Then release SHIFT.
Have also heard of this method, but did not work for me, you go into disk utility, change the size of the drive you are trying to fix, then go back to the exact size you had before doing anything and that apparently creates a new boot volume, has not worked for me. -
Need a little help with antenna selection for a COW

Ok, so I've gotten myself a little confused here and would like some recommendations. We are ordering new COWs (Computer On Wheels) for the hospital and they will be using an Intel 6205 Wireless Chip which is a/b/g/n 2x2. The two new floors these devices will be going on will be our first internal hospital entry into 802.11n which I force the clients to run in the 5ghz range for N. Previous to this, all of my cows are G clients and use a 2.2dbi rubber duck for 2.4ghz. I will be using 1142 AP's, if not 3502 and no I have not performed a survey yet as the floor is still in early construction, but equipment is required to be ordered now. I can tell you that I will be surveying for a voice grade. I suppose my confusion comes from what is the best antenna (obvious open ended question) for this card, being it has two connectors for the 2x2. Again, typically I would use a 2.2 dbi rubber duck for either 2 GHz or dual band 2/5 GHz. Is dual rubber ducks at 6inch spacing (half wavelength met on 2.4 GHz fall back) suffecient or are there other factors involved with the N.

RaunI guess I'm under the impression that if you put a dual band antenna on a device, regardless wether it's a 2.4 radio or 5GHz radio, that the antenna would work, as it's well, dual band. Am I wrong in that assumption leolaohoo?
I have heard back from wyse today with a little information on their provided antenna, but no radiation pattern. This antenna would be referred to as the 'rubber duckie' style 'dipole'. I'm not really having much of a choice as it stands now, as I am limited on space(height) to place the antenna and time (chinese new year for manufacturer). However, one other question. I note that the 1142 and 3502's are horizontally polarized and this omni is vertically polarized. With my limited understanding of antenna's, that's not a good thing... what is the typical associated 'cost' of a vertical to a horizontal?

RAID is disabled by default.
Enable SATA as RAID for channels where are your HDD detected: (example: if you are connected your SATA disks to SATA1 & SATA2, configure RAID for SATA1 & SATA2.)
after raid is enabled, and configured property leave BIOS (SAVE AND EXIT) you will need to setup your raid configuration, by pushing F10 to enter Raid setup after post:
hit F10 when menu popup to enter RAID utility.
• Now select Striping, Mirroring, Striping+Mirroring, Spanning.
• Next push the tab key, and select the striping block size you want.
• Push the tab key again, and select the hard drives you want to include in the Raid array.
• Then push F7 to save and finish the Raid array.
Choice Stripping mode for RAID mode and add both HDDs to array. select "Striping Block" to 16k.
then hit F7 when you done. at next menu make your array bootable by selecting array and hit "B":
config with "Y" when asked.
NOTE: Information on both Disk will be lost. -
Need a little help coding math for an iphone app...
I am having trouble coding the following for an application that has to do with math calculations for an iphone application. I was hoping for at least someone to point me in the right direction/
I have two text boxes, and I want the application to add the two together. Then with a picker slider I want to be able to select a percentage of that number. Than multiply it by another number 1-30 on a picker slider. and then produce the product in another text box.

Alright, I paid for two songs from the iTunes music store and started to download them when I was booted offline. I got back on, and they started to download again only to get booted off a second time.
I have dial-up, so when its important people can voice mail and for some reason that boots us offline.
Anyway, I wasn't able to get back online till many hours later, and found that, not only did they not restart the download, but I've been charged the two dollars only to find nothing in my purchased folder and nothing in my library. My wifi does not seem to work.
It always appears the "unable to join the network ....." error message, as in the past it worked perfectly fine.
I have tried all the "apple support" options. I have even restored my iphone fully.
Sadly there is no apple store near by.

Seriously you will love Keynote once you find your way around it. I've used it to make presentations that I turned into video for YouTube. Lots of luck.

I bought a soong today from itunes. While the song was downloading, my phone blinked off. Came back on and finished downloading the song. Problem is now ALL of my other music is gone. Anyone know how to get it back? Does it correct itself after it backs up to the icloud tonite? Can I do a "back up now" to my icloud to retrieve it? Completely lost and frustrated... HELP!
A backup doesn't contain the contents of the Music app (nor the Videos app). Have you tried closing the Music app via the phone's multitasking bar and seeing if the music shows when you re-open the app ? Double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the Music app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
You could also try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't work then if the music was purchased from iTunes, then depending upon what country that you are in (and if the music is still in your country's store) then you might be able to redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone. Or have you been connecting your phone to your computer's iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over - if you have then you can sync them back. -
I have a MAC Pro from 2011 currently running MAC OS 10.9.5. This weekend I cloned the MAC HD drive to a new SSD drive for improved performance. The clone was completed successfully with no errors. After the clone completed I successfully restarted my system using the SSD as the boot device. I then successfully tested all of my products, including Photoshop CS6 and all of its plug-ins. I successfully tested the key features that I frequently use. Today while attempting to launch Photoshop CS6 a message is being displayed indicating that a scratch disk cannot be found. All drives are available on the system via the Finder and Disk Utility. I can access all drives including the old MAC HD which is no longer the boot device. I've even attempted to launch Photoshop from the old device yet the same error persist. Is there a way to review/edit/change Photoshop preferences if Photoshop doesn't launch? I've even restarted my system several times to see if that would resolve the issues. Does anyone have any recommendations for this issue? Have you previously address this issue?
