Bought Aperture through Apps Store and asking for a serial number

Hi all,
I bought Aperture through the apps store and it has been updated to the latest version and has lost the serial number. Now when I start Aperture, it's asking for first name, last name and serial number from the back of the box. I don't have a box to get the serial number from as it was downloaded from the apps store. When I go to the apps store, I can see in my purchased list and I have the option to install, which doesnt work as it's already installed.
Help! How do I get my serial number from the version bought from the apps store?
Thanks...David

David, deinstall Aperture - move it from the Applications Folder to the Trash (but don't empty the Trash).
Then open the AppStore "Purchased" tab again and reload it (Press ⌘R).
Now you should be able to reinstall from the AppStore. Does it work?

Léonie

  • How to initiate numbers? I have iwork 08 screen coming each time and asking for the serial number even if I just bought Numbers and no serial number have been sent to me

I have just bought Numbers and while initiating, a iWork 08 screen is appearing asking for a serial number. I did not get a serial number and I can't work on it... Somebody knows how to go ahead?

Are you planning to continue to use Pages and Keynote from iWork '08 trial ?
    If you don't,
Go to my iDisk (address below)
    Download :
    For_iWork:iWork '09:uninstall iWork '09.zip
Unpack it and run the script to uninstall completely iWork components (it don't delete the documents which you created).
It would also be a good idea to use a maintenance tool like the free Onyx to to clean the LaunchService databases.
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/download.php
Take care to download the stable version dedicated to Lion ( it's Onyx 2.4.2)
Then, reinstall Numbers '09 from the MAS. You will not have to pay. The protocol is described in :

  • Creative Cloud for teams downloads as a trial and asks for a serial number

My employer purchased a Creative Cloud for teams account. I'm using my Adobe ID and trying to install the applications on my laptop at home. When the applications launch, they say I'm running a trail version. Then I'm given the option to license the software or continue the trial. When I click license this software, I sign in with my Adobe ID then it asks for a serial number. I don't have the serial number from my employer. Shouldn't it just be enough that I sign in with my registered Adobe ID and password?

  • I bought Aperture on app store in july. Now, when I open it, it ask me for my serial number?

    Hello every one...
I don't have access to Aperture anymore. I have to give a serial number, and I don't have it because I bought it on Appstore?
    What can I do?
    Thanks for your help.
    D.

Aperture (or any app) bought from the App Store does not require a serial number to use. Your Apple Id is all that is required to download and run the App.
How did the problem begin? Some background information will make it easier to try and help you.
The simplest thing to do is to delete the Aperture App in your Applications folder and using the same Apple ID you used when you first bought Aperture, log into the App Store and download it again.

  • Update 13.0.3 it's the same: the Extended version appears and asks for a serial

The last two updates of Photoshop are nightmares...
I have a MacPro 2x2.26 GHz with 8 GB di RAM (Snow Leopard).
One week ago I updated to version 13.0.2 hoping to solve certain issues of the 13.0.1 version. But after the update Photoshop CS6 became Extended and asked for a serial number. I typed my serial, Photoshop seemed to work but after a close and restart the Extended version reappears, and asks again fot the serial.
I talked two times with the Assistance by phone, they tell me to uninstall and reinstall from the official DVD, but it do not change... If I apply the 13.0.2 update the Extended version appears again.
Yesterday I read about the new 13.0.3 update, the solution for the bugged previous version, and I hopefully installed it.
    NOTHING CHANGES!
Photoshop become Extended again and asks again and again and again for a serial number.
Now I will unistall and reinstall Photoshop CS6, but I will NOT apply any update after the 13.0.1, even if that version has many bugs.
But I need to work and I have no time to lose.

I have spoken to Adobe Customer Support on the telephone today and they confirmed that the matter is known and that the developement team are working on a an update to fix the problem as quickly as possible the also sent me the following email:

Aperture was originally installed from the app store, now its asking for a serial number. how do i download the serial number or reinstall from the app store?

The App Store version of Aperture will never ask for a serial number so something got confused on your system. Did you ever have a non App Store version of Aperture installed? Did you download the trial version for some reason?
You can try moving Aperture from the Application folder to the desktop and then going to the App Store. Log in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase Aperture and you should be able to download it again.

    Hi...
Since it's been a year since you download the app, delete the app then re download.
Best to use a utility that will not only remove the app but all the associated files > Download AppCleaner for Mac - Uninstall your apps easily. MacUpdate.com
    Then redownload:
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • Why when i want to download a free app from app store it asks for my apple id and when i give my apple id it then says "this apple id has not yet been used in the itunes store". i dont even know what that means and it will this happen everytime?

If you are within 14 days of purchase you can still return the iPhone and get the phone that suits your needs, however, I think you will find that no matter which phone you get the content provider will want to know how you are going to pay for future purchases. For Android phones it is Google, and they will certainly want to know.

  • I purchased a Logic Pro 9.1.6. from App Store and when I try to open it, it's asking for a serial number. That shouldn't happen, they told me on Applecare Professional Application Support. Once I had a "trial version" of Logic Pro 9.0.0. Does this matter?

Yep, there's versions and "versions". But I'm a poor, stupid guy and now I had my first chance to get The REAL Logic Pro. So please, if somebody could help me with that I would be grateful.
You would need to delete all of the Logic Audio related preference files, reciepts...etc, located in these folders.
    ~/Library/Preferences
    Users/YourName/Library/Preferences
    ~/Library/Receipts
    And possibly
    ~/Library/Applicationsupport/ProApps
I guess it's possibly safe to assume that all of the people posting on this board asking why the App Store version is requesting a serial have been using pirated software.

  • App updates through App store, and then goes back to previous version!

I bought Civilization V: Campaign Edition from the Mac App Store. An update for the game became available a few days ago and I clicked update.
The whole update was downloaded and installed succesfully. I launched the game and it showed the new version too.
But after a minute, the App Store shows the update option available again.
I tried updating again but the same thing happened. The update finished succesfuly, a minute later the App Store shows yet another update available with the same version number and everything. Googling about it I found that a lot of users have complained of the same issue. Aspyr Support (Civ V Support) said that the issue lies with the App Store and asked me to contact Apple. So here I am - there are no Apple Stores in my area.

I launched the game and it showed the new version too.
No need to redownload the update repeatedly.
Try deleting the cache associated with the App Store...
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, install the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) may fix the udpate issue.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.3
