Bought App on my other computer

I bought an iphone app today on my work mac. My iphone normally syncs with my home mac, however. When I try to sync the new app from my work mac, it says it is going to wipe all of the existing apps synced from my home computer. How do I load the app without wiping my other apps? Or how can I transfer the app to the other computer? Also, is there a way to check the iphone to determine which computer I have synced the apps from? Can I sync music from one machine and apps from another? This is way too tiresome. How I wish for simple file management.

Oh come on, live a little. What's a couple of bucks anyway!
Just kidding, I'm not telling you how to spend your money, and I understand not wanting to have to pay twice. It works, I've done it.
My son, daughter and I each share the same iTunes account and are always duplicating downloads. It is permissible because of home sharing.

  • Switching App Sync to other Computer

Right now, I am syncing my Touch apps on my work computer. I want to sync them on my Mac at home...but each time I go to uncheck the app sync option on my work PC it warns that it will delete all apps & app data. How do I keep everything from deleting while also changing the computer I use for the sync?

+I also noticed my library was empty+
This is the problem- your ipod is actually synced to another library, not another computer .
I notice you have a Sony Vaio. We are seeing tons of posts here from Vaio users - the Sony Media Management software causes a conflict with itunes and the itunes library database file is not saved properly, as a result.
Either disable/uninstall the Sony stuff, or tell it to not monitor the itunes folder.

  • Downloading previously bought apps onto a new computer - Not working

I just bought an iMac and I expected to be able to re download apps I had already bought in the App Store.
When I open the App Store Application I see the list of all the apps I have got through the app store and some of them show as being available to install and some of them show as being installed and are greyed out.
I can't download them fresh onto the new computer.
For example I have bought Hype - I tried copying the app across from my MacBook to the iMac and putting into the apps folder. Click on it to start the app and I see it briefly in the dock and then nothing. It is not running. I just tried it again and same thing but I got a dialogue to say I bought it on another machine and a request to log into my Apple account. I filled in that dialogue and the Hype app still refuses to run.
after filling in the password and clicking on Sign In - I still can't run or re install the app.
Same with Vector Designer, Smart Converter
Then there are other apps I have brought across and they are working such as iProcrastinate, Calendar,Alfred and Resize it.
    Anyone have any suggestions

    Quit the App Store.
Launch iTunes on the new Mac. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer
Then go to the menu bar and click Store / Sign Out.
    Relaunch the App Store.
Note: To download previous purchases on a computer, your computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that was used for the original purchase. For more information about iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization see, this article.

  • Can only play 1,30 min of each song bought on iPad on other computer (windows)

    Hi!
    Will try to be brief.
I bought an album on iTunes using my iPad. I then wanted to transfer this to my iPod shuffle (4). Didn't work. I understand that I have to do so using a different computer, but there is no authorisation button (that is being mentioned in other places). I did however at one point automatically get the question "authorise this computer?" and clicked "yes". After checking the settings/profile it then seemed as if the computer was authorised.
BUT I still can't reach my music. If I click on recent purchases, the album DOES come up, although I can only "preview" each song for 1,30 minutes each and I can definitely not transfer them to my iPod. I can transfer other things, bought with the same iTunes account on that computer, but NOT the music I've bought on my iPad (same iTunes account).
PLEASE help :( You have no idea how much frustration you will relieve me of if you do... 1000 THANKS!!! :)

(The Authorisation option is on the Store drop-down menu at the top of the iTunes screen, if the menus aren't showing then control-B on a PC should get them to show.)
I assume that you playing the songs in the store on that computer (?), you might be able to redownload them on that computer via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage - music won't show for redownloading in all countries. If you can't redownload them then you will need to copy them from your iPad to your computer by connecting it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on your computer. If that isn't the computer that you sync your iPad to then you can them to its normal computer and then copy them to that one : copying music between computers.

  • My computer is broke and I need to transfer my music and apps to my other computer how can I do this without loosing all my apps and music

I tried to transfery my music and apps befor but it said it would delete all of the file on my iPod so I could really use some help

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can transfer other stuff by the info supplied in this previous discussion:
    Best iPod to PC
After you get the stuff on the new computer, let iTunes erase the iPod and replace it contents with what is now in the iTunes library.  All yu saved games and app date will be lost.

  • Someone else bought an app on the store. I had already purchased the app before on my other computer, so I deleted the app on my new computer that the other person purchased. I now want to download the app again on MY account but...........

Someone else bought an app on the store on my new computer. I had already purchased the app before on my old computer, so I deleted the app on my new computer that the other person purchased. I now want to download the app again through MY account. When I click INSTALL it asks for ID, but it shows up automatically with the other person's ID, so I delete that and enter mine instead. I then click SIGN IN, but then it says "Unknown error", then I click OK, then it says "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)". How do I get rid of all info of other people's IDs so I can get the app through my account again?
The app that I'm trying to download actually might have been a pirated app. But I deleted it, so why is it not letting me get it through my account?
    Please help!
    Thanks

you may delete this discussion. I fixed the issue

  • I sync'ed my iphone apps last night on a "new" computer.  Since it was not regrestered on that computer, iPhone would not sync any bought apps.  Went I went to use an app after trying this almost all my bought apps disappeared.  How do I get them back?

I tried syncing my Iphone4 apps on a "new" computer.  I was told that the computer was not registered with iTunes and could not back up all the bought apps.  When I went to check  on the iPhone after this I noticed (have been blind not to) that almost all of my bought apps were missing.  After I registered the "new" computer and sync'ed my apps nothing removed showed back up.  How do I get these apps back?
I tried syncing on the "old" computer and all the apps were grayed out with some unchecked.  Since they are grayed out I cannot unchecking and sync them.
The difference between the "new" and "old" computer is the OS.  New has Win7 old is XP.

An iPhone can only sync to one computer at a time. When you synced to the new one without first copying your iTunes library from the old one it deleted the apps because they were not on the new computer. You could have transferred them from the iPhone to the new computer before the first sync as described in the manual, but now it is too late for that.
Fortunately, you can redownload apps without having to pay for them again as long as the iTunes account is the same on the new computer as it was on the old.

  • TS2446 If i create a new apple id account on my ipod, will i still have all my music, apps, books and other stuff on my ipod that i downloaded and bought with my old account or will i loose everything; will i be able to still do the updates to those apps?

If I create a new apple id account on my ipod, will I still have all my music, apps, books and other stuff on my ipod that I downloaded and bought with my old account or will I loose everything; will I be able to still do the updates to those apps?
    I really need help!

I don't think you understood what I wrote. You don't HAVE to pay for everything if you are happy with using the other account for updates, etc. But if you don't want to do that then you will have to buy new copies of everything for the new account. There's only one purchase item per account, but you can redownload an item in the account many times.
    The idea is this:
One computer, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
One user, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
The basic idea is that each user has an Apple ID under which he/she can manage multiple devices on a single computer.
Once you step outside of that model you create such problems as not being able to use or update apps purchase under one Apple ID when using a different Apple ID. Or not being able to easily sync one device on more than one computer.

So i bought music on a different computer but oAn the same itunes account and on the same ipod and when i get on my original computer and i sync my ipod my purchases that were on the other computer didnt show up. How can i put them on my computer/ipod

Download them to the computer to which the iPod is synced, re-sync.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • Hello, i have recently purchased an ipod touch. i have bought apps off itunes and whenever i connect my ipod to my computer it syas that it is syncing.but the appa will not show on my ipo even though it has synced.how can i resolve this?

hello, i have recently purchased an ipod touch.i  am having trouble with apps. i have bought apps off itunes but it wont appear on my ipod. i have synced the ipod with the computer multiple times but still no luck. i think it has something to do with my settings but i am not sure.please any helpwill be very much appreciated.thank you

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • How can I restore the previously bought apps after I have formatted my computer without backing up any of my files for iTunes?

    As titled.
I bought many apps from iTunes at the end of last year, and then my computer had got problem that I had to format and reinstall everything.
I just want to know how can I restore the previously bought apps once if I forgot to backup any of my files on the computer??
Would be really grateful if someone can show me how to. Thanks!!
FYI: At that time I was using iPad 1 and the OS was still 3.1.x. Now I am using iPhone 4 and would like to restore the apps at least those that are compatible to my phone.

  • Bought app w/ itunes card not on my home computer

I bought a game app "stone of destiny" with an itunes gift card under my login name. But I bought it at my work computer(this isn't my main itunes) not my home laptop. I cannot figure out how to get it on my iPhone without having to delete all my other apps just get the one. Is there a way to get it on my iPhone? It doesn't show up under purchased in my iTunes library. Am I just going to have to rebuy the app on my laptop?
Please help me figure this out!
    Thanks

By design, the iPhone syncs with _one and only one_ iTunes library for media content, including apps. Trying to sync to another library results in all the content being erased and replaced.
So yes, download the app on your home laptop and sync it, or buy it directly on the phone.
The good news is that you can do that for free, as long as you're using the same iTunes Store account. You'll be prompted for the free download after you click/tap Buy.
