Bought imovie '08 G4 needs 06
I bought ilife 08 but system requirements don't allow imovie 08. Is there some way to download imovie 06 free since I already paid for '08?
although imovie hd 6 is downloaded to computer, message appears saying please install ilife 08 when i try to install.. ilife '08 will not load because of G4 system. i guess what i need is 06 everything as 08 (at least some it) requires G5 or G4 PwrPC---where do I go from here?

Can no longer see projects in library viewer in imovie ’08 and need to find a different apple editing program
I had approximately 15 projects that I can no longer see in imovie. I have read almost every thread on this community for imovie regarding error messages associated with looking for clips. In each case I have rebuilt the project. However, today I continually received a message to search for a .dv file. I have located the file and even changed the .dv file to .mov file and yet none of my projects will appear. I have rebooted, deleted the plist and nothing works.
I was planning on buying a new Mac in 2014 with new editing, and use my old Mac as a backup for imovie files. Very frustrated that I can’t work with any projects now! I se the files in my Movies/imovies/iprojects folder but they don’t appear in the viewer.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get back my projects into the viewer? Or, can someone recommend a basic program compatible with imovie 08 that I can use to import my exiting projects into?No, Wasn't sure if I could continue to upgrade to 9.0.9 since my Mac is relatively old.
Just don't understand why I have to keep starting a project over and over again. As I type this, the imovie icon is jumping and asking for "clip 135-02-05-05;27:15" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly." I have located this clip and pointed imovie to the clip, and nothing happens. I even try to locate the corresponding clip in the event viewer but it is not there.
Today is the first time I have not been able to see my projects in the viewer. -
Hi, Can anyone recommended software to import dvd to iMovies. I need to import about a dozen homemade DVD's and edit them into a single DVD comprising the 'best bits'. How best can I do this. I have an external hard drive available for the job
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion onwards, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:

You don't have to install QuickTime 7. -
G'day. I am using iMovie 11 and need to clear disk space. How can I do that using an external drive, leaving me the option to go back and make changes or access old events or projects from that external drive?
The slightly bigger question is whether you want to move all movie content to the external drive (essentially meaning that drive will always need to be attached when you're working with your videos), or whether you just want to archive older videos off to the external drive.
If you want to move all videos, then just move the 'Movies' folder in your home directory to the external drive, then create an alias of the external 'Movies' back in to your home directory. Now the 'Movies' icon in your home directory will point to the external drive and everything will just work (as long as the external drive is attached when you launch iMovie)
If you want to archive older movies then each Movie should have its own subdirectory within your Movies folder. These can easily be moved off to the external drive, and moved back should you ever need to work on those movies again. -

Now I was a refund but typical apple, one click to buy but a million and a phone call to get back
I just want this iPad upgraded and my refund for storage that aint storage!?? and someone to explain to me in LAYMAN's terms what the difference is between iPad storage and iCloud and what is the point if you cannot upgrade even though you bought more storage!?

difference in laymans terms is simple. You ipad has local storage. Icloud is storage on apple server, that people by to create backup. Local storage for ipad can not be expanded. New ipad with bigger storage can be purchased and Apple makes them is up to 128 gigs size. -

Hi I've just bought a Macbook pro (2010) I bought it as I needed an older one running snow leopard. Its running on 10.6.4 but I need it with 10.6.1 or 10.6.2, does anyone know if I can install 10.6.1 or 2 on my Macbook??????

Help I'm desperate!!The 2010 MBPs came installed with either 10.6.3, or 10.6.4 later in their lifespan. Earlier versions of the OS may not have the correct drivers for the Mac's hardware.
Ultimately, you might be better off upgrading your copy of Pro Tools, or updating the Mac to Yosemite and running Logic Pro X. -

You would have to purchase a Mac version of CS5. You cannot install a Windows version on a Mac. CS5 is not a current product so you can't get a free platform swap.
Speak to Customer Service and see if it is possible to upgrade to CS6 ($200), and get what is know as a platform swap to Mac.

I have both an iMovie.app and iMovie 9.09.app on my Macbook Air. Can I delete one of these apps without losing iMovie? I need to free up space on my Macbook Air as I don't have any space left. I've ordered an external drive in order to move photos and video there to free up space. In the meantime I have to make some room for incoming emails and to open programs. I've already deleted some documents.
You should find out which app you are using when you double click on a movie.

I need to make a stop start animation using iMovie. I need the time factor to be 0.03. Every time I make an adjustment it goes to 0.1s which is too slow. Does anyone have a suggestions?
First, for Stop Motion Animation, there are better tools. These include iStopMotion and QuickTIme Pro Version 7.
If you want to do it in iMovie, it is possible, but slow.
First, go into iMovie Preferences, and make sure you check "Display Time as hh:mm:ss:frames". This will let you edit to the frame lever rather than to the nearest 10th of a second.
Second, see this Tutorial by Jon Walker on how to edit down to a single frame in a still image sequence.
You can modify his technique to get 2 or three frames. -
