Send it back. That's the activation lock and it's a theft deterrant program. If the seller can't or won't give you that apple ID to unlock it, then you'll never be able to use it (and it's a very real possibility that the ipad wasn't theirs to sell in the first place)

       device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
       let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some

       When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

There is no solution. You have to provide the ID and password. There is no way around it. If the person you bought it from can't provide it, return it and get your money back.

Hi. I just bought ipad (original with only wifi) in Japan and brought back to the States. It was originally bought atJapanese wireless company and original owner gave all the documentation (receipt and warranty card, etc). I have Windows XP (7 years old ^^;) desktop at home and downloaded itunes. When I connect ipad to PC, it syncs, but I cannot open itunes in ipad. Regarding Wifi, it recognizes my home wifi (I see the icon on left top), but cannot connect Safari nor mail. Is this ipad defect, or there is something I have to set up? I wonder if I bring this to apple store, they can figure out.... Thanks.
