Bought Pro 3 weeks ago - If I upgrade I lose Pro capabilities? Can't be.
I've searched and can't find anything that covers what to do when I just bought a program, there's a new upgrade - but that upgrade will kill my purchased version capabilities. Sent a note to support but haven't gotten an answer. Anyone know how this works?
Since you purchased QuickTime Pro 3 weeks ago, you have a QuickTime 7 Pro key, and this key is valid for all versions of QuickTime 7. The note stating that the upgrade will cause you to lose your QuickTime Pro capabilities applies to people who have purchased QuickTime 5 and 6 Pro keys.

If you bought the MBP new 3 weeks ago, it should have come with Mountain Lion already installed. Did you update your MBP to the newly released 10.8.4 update? If not, what OS were you running before the upgrade, and what version of Mountain Lion do you have now? -

You can't re-download it after it has expired (if that's the case).
You could try to contact support, and you MAY get an exception...

Bought PE12 a week ago and now 13 is out; quite annoying.
One week ago I bought PE version 12 (upgrade from 10; costs 79 euro) and today I received an message about PE13 is out. Can upgrade again for 83 euro. Quite annoying that there as no warning about an upcoming new release. Just one week old software and now already old.
Contact Adobe Sales. Usually they will let you have the new version.

i was hacked with my old mac book i just bought a macbook pro - week ago it is acting totally buggy - tried 3 browsers safari opera and now firefox - won't download embeded video - just stops etc - what security 'fixes' are available for lion to prevent hacking battery component and malware installed
You have not been hacked. It's impossible to speculate about what exactly the problem is, since all you've said is that it won't download embedded video. You may just need to update Flash, or you may be using a bad site, or you may have a bad internet connection... impossible to say with such sparse data. But it's not hacking and it's unlikely to be malware. Regarding the malware issue, see my Mac Malware Guide.

Half the screen on my 2010 27" mac just went grey today. I bought the computer six weeks ago. Is this a common problem with the monitor?
I think there's some provision for a home visit if you have AppleCare. Don't know about the standard warranty. Maybe you can arrange to ship it? Give them a call on Tuesday. Bummer.

my iPhone 5 has worked well until it started shutting itself off and rebooting some time ago. I did not think much of it as id heard of this issue with iOS 7. a week ago (9/6/14) the phone just stopped working. blank screen with no response from home or lock buttons. Tried plugging it in to charge, still nothing. When I connected to my computer, iTunes said the phone was in recovery mode and I had to restore it. Today, 9/13/14, it did this twice. What is happening and how do I fox/prevent it?

If you are having issues with your iPhone going into recovery mode, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -

As stated above. So despite attempting to run a parallel windows system it seems like everything's defaulted to Apple. I've tried uninstalling Office 2011 (trash), but then I can't use save an Office 2010 file without it. So, I have to reverse that. Not sure whether I should uninstall the whole lot and try again.
But I have an even worse problem: My external hard drive (Samsung) will not now work and it contains all my personal and work files, but more importantly all my tax files that I need as a Brit expat. It now asks me to format the drive on the Mac or my work PC. Presumably this will mean I lose all my data.
I'm totally underwhelmed and now wished I had never bought the computer because it will cause me huge problems if I have lost my data.Step 6: Here is where I need help/advice – can I remove the Bootcamp partition on my internal drive now?
To answer my own question in Step 6 above, no, or at least I haven't found a way yet...
Here's what I've done so far:
Used the Bootcamp Assistant to remove the bootcamp partition on my internal drive.
Booted the system with the option (alt) key pressed down and now there was NO Windows drive to choose.
Therefore I used the Bootcamp Assistant to install Windows back onto my internal drive (including installing Bootcamp drivers in the Windows environment). This time I chose the minimum partition of 20GB for the Windows installation on the internal drive.
Booted into the new Windows on the internal drive and installed the drivers for my Thunderbolt drive.
Restarted with the option (alt) key pressed down, chose the Windows drive, but Windows Boot Manager still didn't pop up to allow me to choose the Windows installation on the external Thunderbolt drive.
Booted from the Windows DVD and chose Repair.
Restarted with the option (alt) key pressed down, chose the Windows drive, and now Windows Boot Manager finally popped up, which allowed me to choose the Windows installation on the external Thunderbolt drive again, phew!
So, I can run Windows 7 from the external Thunderbolt drive, but I have to use 20GB of my internal drive for a Windows installation I'll never use. Not the best solution, but at least I've saved 30GB of space compared to my previous Bootcamp partition - and I now have enough space to install the Windows 7 software I need on the external Thunderbolt drive... -
I try to open the camera app, but it doesn´t work, the shutter doesn't open. I bought the ipad last week!

KarenQuit the camera app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesnt help, try this. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
This started after I upgraded Firefox to the last version before 8.0.
This has happened for me as well. When I checked the settings (File > Page Setup > "Format & Options": Scale ), the Scale value was 40%. I changed it to 100%.
Today, I realized that the Scale option in Print Preview also sets the Scale value in the Page Setup. My expectation was that it was a temporary setting for a specific print request, however, it is a sticky setting. -

If you purchased it from Apple within the last 14 days you can return it for a full refund and then purchase the 5G. Otherwise Apple will only give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod and purchase a new one.
