Bought reset iphone can the previous owner still read my messages n emails?

I Was given a reset iphone and then plugged it into my iTunes is it possible that if the previous owner bought a new iphone and plugged it into theirs itunes that they will be able to access anything from the iphone that they reset and gave to me for example emails and messages?

I'm not really sure what you are referring to when you say reset, but the first thing you want to do if you purchase an iOS device second hand is restore it.  This will make sure the iOS is perfect and up to date and nothing is loaded onto the device without your knowledge.  If you have reason to suspect something may be loaded allowing the previous owner access to your information, then I would recommend restoring.  Also, ensure you have your own Apple ID and password that no one knows or uses but you.  You can change your Apple password if you are worried someone has access to that, as your Apple ID can be used in multiple places giving access to others who have your Apple ID and password.

  • Can't activate my iphone cause the previous owner can't remember their information

How do I activate my iphone when the previous owner can't remember their information to take it off their account?

Send the previous owner this link and tell them to reset the information. If they will not or cannot do so, the iPhone is useless to you.

  • I bought a used iphone and the previous owner forgot to delete their icloud account, so I cant add mine. Is there anything I can do?

I cant seem to get in contact with the previous owner.

You are experiencing Activation Lock.  If the previous owner will not remove the device from their account there is nothing you can do unless the place you purchased it from will give you a refund.

What if I purchase a device that is still linked to the previous owner's account?
Contact the previous owner as soon as possible and ask them to erase the device and remove it from their account. For complete instructions, read how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.
How do I check for Activation Lock before purchasing a used device?
When purchasing an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it is up to you to ensure that the device has been erased and is no longer linked to the previous owner’s account.
Follow each of these steps to make sure that you can use the device you purchase:
Turn the device on and slide to unlock. If the passcode lock screen or the home screen appears, the device has not been erased. Ask the seller to completely erase the device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been erased.
Begin the device setup process. After choosing a language, choosing a country, and connecting to a network, the device will begin activation. If you are asked for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password, the device is still linked to their account. Hand the device back to the seller and ask them to enter their password. If the previous owner is not present, they can remove the device from their account by signing in to
    icloud.com/find
. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been removed from the previous owner’s account.
You will know that a device is ready for you to use when you are asked to “Set up your iPhone", “Set up your iPad", or “Set up your iPod” during the device setup process.

  • I don't have the previous owner apple account how can I activate my iPhone without the previous owner?

What can I do to active my new iPhone 5s if I don't have the previous owner apple ID because I don't know him.

So the trick here is at what point are you getting stuck? You'll know whether or not you can use the device after you've restored it in iTunes. If the previous owner had not removed their iCloud account (or turned off Find My iPhone) before you do this, then the phone is forced into Activation Lock (which you'll likely see after restoring the device, upon setting it up). If this is the case, you either HAVE to contact the previous owner and have them help you type in their password or remove the phone from their iCloud account by logging into iCloud.com, or if you can provide valid proof of purchase you may be able to get support through AppleCare or an Apple Store. Otherwise, see if you can return it! Good luck!

  • HT201441 i bought an iphone4 with the previous owners apple account id and no way to contact them

i want to reset this phone to factory settings but it has the previous owners apple account id
password that of course i dont know and i have no way to contact them i bought this phone at a flea market the past weekend .Can i do this myself or do i take it to a apple store?

I'm afraid that if the previous owner has locked the phone, only he can unlock it, either by giving you the ID and password or by removing it from his list of devices (which he should have done before selling it on).
As you cannot contact him, you will be unable to use the phone. There is no way round this - taking to Apple won't help. Your only option is to take it back to where you bought it and try to get them to refund your money, as they have sold you a useless device.

  • HT5625 I purchased  a second hand  IPAD from a local store, I am trying to reset it to the factory setting.  I can't locate the previous owner, can somebody tell me how to reset it without the previous owner's password and ID.

You cannot. There is No workaround for Activation Lock in iOS 7.
Return it for a refund... If you can.

  • HT201441 if I cannot contact the previous owner ego has sold me the device how can I still activate it?

My uncle just recently bought me ask iPhone 4 and I an trying to activate it. It says the previous owners still had it on his appleid account. we are not able to contact him so hoe do I activate the phone with my apple I'd??

You haven't told us exactly what kind of messages you are getting when you try to start the device.  If you are asked to log into icloud with an ID and password, then if the previous owner had an icloud account defined and Find My iPhone turned on, then you won't be able to start it until you get the ID and password from the previous owner.  There's nothing more you can do other then to return it.

  • HT1918 My ipad has the previous owners  Apple id . I need to put my email and password in how can ido this

Lookin to know how to enter new appl id on my ipad  the previous owners id requesting password keeps coming up. I cannot contact him

You can log out of the previous owner's account by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores (Settings > Store on iOS 5 or below) and you can then log in with your account. But if there is any content from the previous owner still on it then that will remain tied to their account (so only their account will be able to download updates to those apps) - you will be better off resetting back to factory defaults (Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings) and starting 'as new' with it.

  • HT201441 Can i delete the account if the previous owner is not preasent ?

I just bought an Apple Iphone 5C..... and i do not know how to activate it i have bought it on ebay and i cannot activate the previous owners number so i cannot speak with im..... However , i ave e-mailed him and he has not responded

Nothing you can do with the iPhone until the previous owner removes the lock.

  • HT201441 I can not find the previous owner and ask them the Apple ID!

what van I do if can not find the previous owner???

If you have bought a second-hand iPhone and the previous owner has locked it, only he can unlock it as indicated in the Help page you came here from. If you cannot contact him you will be unable to use the phone; there is no way round this.

If you mean activating it as far as using it on your phone plan, then you're going to have to go to your cell provider and have them do that for you and add the device to your current plan. Otherwise without activating it, the most your iPhone will be, is a thick iPod. Of course with wifi, you could still send iMessages, but that's the extent without adding it to a cell plan.

I bought a used iphone. I installed ios 7 before I realized that the previous owner's email and password are still in the phone. How can I remove them so that I can use the icloud and "find my phone" feature?

Thanks so much! It will be kinda weird to contact the person directly, but I guess I will give it a try. Is there anything that I can refer her to in this discussion to let her know I am legit, and not a creeper? Also, I don't know if you can answer this or not. When I plug my phone into itunes, and it says that it is backing up, does that mean that it is going into the other person's cloud, since I cannot access it?

  • I have bought an iPad second hand, however the data on it is still there from the previous owner and requires a password to be reset but, because it is second hand, I do not know it, is there any way around this so I can reset it?

Ipad needs resetting but because it's second hand the password from the previous owner is still on it and I do not know it, is there anyway around this so I can take all the data off? It's urgent because it is being used as a gift next week!

The previous owner should have reset it back to factory defaults before selling it. What iOS version is the iPad on (Settings > General > About > Version), and has the previous owner left him/herself logged in in Settings > iCloud with Find My iPad enabled on that screen ? If it's on iOS 7 and Find My iPad is enabled then you should contact the previous owner and ask them to remove the iPad from their account, otherwise you or the recipient of the gift will have problems with activation lock : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515
To reset the iPad back to factory defaults (if it's not linked to Find My iPad) you can use recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808

  • HT4528 I bought an Iphone 4s 2nd hand and the previous "owner" defaulted his/her Verizon contract and still owed $ for the phone. Did I pay $100 dollars for a paperweight or can I activate it on another service carrier?

I recently purchased an Iphone 4s from an electronics store. I was aware that it had been previously owned, however, I was not informed until an activation attempt that the iphone was on a contract that had defaulted, even worse, the previous owner had not completely paid for the phone. I now have a $100 paper weight with no way to activate it on any other carrier. The customer service representative who informed me of the default status and previous history also informed me that I would never be able to set up an account with Verizon, and i would have to have the iphone jailbroken to use it on anyother network. I do not wish to go that route as it is illegal, and would alter the iphone and I believe apple is supperrior and do not wish to risk altering the iphone's performance capabilities. Please help?

If it is locked to Verizon then only the original account holder can have the phone unlocked.  You have wasted your money

Find My iPhone Activation Lock- Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
Only the former owner can remove the Find My Phone lock and erase the device. That can be done remotely. Without this the device is useless to you because it will be permanently locked.
