Bought second hand iPhone 4 they cannot remember the iCloud password how do I get around this

Bought a second hand iphone4 have contacted seller they cannot remember iCloud password how do I get around this?

They need to reset their Apple ID password by going to http://iforgot.apple.com and then turn off Find My iPhone.
At that point you can restore the device as new.
If they cannot or will not do that, demand a refund.
If they will not provide a refund, contact law enforcement as the device is most likely stolen.

  • HT201263 Bought second hand iPhone not realising logged into iCloud, Please help me remedy this problem?

Hi there good people, I recently purchased an iPhone 4 from a sales site on Facebook, I checked to see that the phone was not signed in to App Store/iTunes but didn't occur to me that it could still be logged into iCloud (Which it is) as I thought you could only use 1 Apple ID per handset at any given time.  3 months have passed and all was fine, until today when I dropped the phone and now a box pops up wanting iCloud password every 5 Seconds after I've cancelled the last one.  I got in contact with the guy I bought it from but as three months have passed he says he can't remember the password he used and was not able to log out of iCloud because of this. (plus he's switched to Android)  I took the phone to my local phone repair shop and they told me there is nothing can be done without the account password, my question is:  Will the "Recovery Mode" trick work with this problem?  I'm sorry but I simply refuse to believe that there is no solution or way round this... I know Apple are very tight on security but what would I have done if this was a brand new iPhone 6 instead, would I simply accept that I was the proud owner of an extremely expensive house brick?  I welcome any advice that might help me to reset the damned phone... Thanking you in advance for your time and effort.  Daniel Grant.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance
from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to
unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through
    iCloud.com > Find My Phone.

  • I cannot change my iCloud account on my phone. I cannot delete the iCloud account and my old apple ID is not recognized in the system. How do I get around this?

My new phone has an old apple ID associated with iCloud only.  I cannot delete the account as it has "Find my iPhone" turned on.  Additionally, it tells me that my password is incorrect from the old account, when I try to reset my password it tells me that my birthday is incorrect, and then when I try looking up my ID, it says that the old ID doesn't exist.  Any ideas on what I can do?  Any verification email sent would go to an address that hasn't existed for a couple years.  Thank you!

  • I just got my iMac and would like to sync my iPhone to it. It says its linked to another library. It asks to delete contents before syncing. I don't want to lose what I've bought on the phone. How do I get around this?

    Help? Suggestions.

Transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer along with all other important data that you will need or want to access on your new computer such as documents, photos, etc.
Follow the instructions included with this link for transferring your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer.

  • I have followed the directions, but on both the mobile and desktop the 3 line code that it says to enter into the other device is already filled in and I can't enter either device's code on the other. How do I get around this?

I can't get any further on either device than "Add a Device".
The code in the 3 little windows is uneditable on on either device. Both the computer and the phone say "Then enter this code:" but neither one will let me enter anything.

Sounds like it's hardware issue. The iPhone warranty is based in the original country of purchase. Since it was bought in Korea you will need to ship the phone to someone you know in Korea to be taken in and then they will have to ship it back to you. The cost of shipping will be at your expense.

  • My laptop (HP Pavilion) will not allow me to upgrade or download Firefox without logging in as Administrator, and I don't recall ever setting up a password for Administrator...I'm the only user of the laptop. How can I get around this?

I was trying to upgrade to the newest version of Firefox, and when I downloaded it, and clicked on run, it took me to a login box, where I had to choose whether to continue as current user or login as Administrator. When I clicked on continue as current user, nothing happened. When I tried logging on as Administrator, I used all the passwords I could think of that I use and nothing was accepted. Id on't recall ever setting up a password for Adminstrator on this computer, so I don't know what to do. I even deleted the older version of Firefox thinking that might help, but it didn't work either, and now I don't even have that! Help!

What iPhone do you have? You can check in settings>>general>> about.
If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

  • Having updated my ipad to ios 8 I have now lost the X to close the safari tabs, how do I get around this?

I have updated my ipad to IOS 8 and have now lost the X to close my safari tabs.  How I am supposed to close the tabs now?

If you have more than one tab open, you should still see the "x". When you are down to the last tab, you will need to tap the View Open Tabs icon (upper right, looks like two over lapping squares). You also access Private Browsing from there.

  • I bought second hand iphone 5 and i try to activate but it ask previous owner apple id.

i bought second hand iphone 5 and i try to activate but it ask previous owner apple id.

You are experiencing Activation Lock.  If the previous owner will not remove the device from their account there is nothing you can do unless the place you purchased it from will give you a refund.
    Activation Lock: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
What if I purchase a device that is still linked to the previous owner's account?
Contact the previous owner as soon as possible and ask them to erase the device and remove it from their account. For complete instructions, read how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.
How do I check for Activation Lock before purchasing a used device?
When purchasing an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it is up to you to ensure that the device has been erased and is no longer linked to the previous owner’s account.
Follow each of these steps to make sure that you can use the device you purchase:
Turn the device on and slide to unlock. If the passcode lock screen or the home screen appears, the device has not been erased. Ask the seller to completely erase the device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been erased.
Begin the device setup process. After choosing a language, choosing a country, and connecting to a network, the device will begin activation. If you are asked for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password, the device is still linked to their account. Hand the device back to the seller and ask them to enter their password. If the previous owner is not present, they can remove the device from their account by signing in to icloud.com/find. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been removed from the previous owner’s account.
You will know that a device is ready for you to use when you are asked to “Set up your iPhone", “Set up your iPad", or “Set up your iPod” during the device setup process.
