Bought some cheap supermarket DVD-RW's - I'm happy

I've been reading posts here for a while and was saddened to hear the bad reports on the Memorex DVD's, as I had managed to buy about 100 of them quite cheap. So far I must be quite lucky, because I have burned about 25-30 with no problem on my iMac G5. I thought I better look about for a different manufacturer in case I run into problems, so on a whim I bought some supermarket, ( Tesco in the UK ), branded DVD-RW's. Works good on the iMac, no problems at all. I also used some in my Sony DVD recorder to 'tape' programs off the TV. Guess what, DVD Player on the Mac will play these DVD-RW's, recorded on the Sony, when every other make of DVD-RW I've tried shows up an "Unsupported disk" error. DVD player will play all makes of DVD-R I've tried, but these Tesco brand DVD-RW's are the first that will play directly without having to copy the contents to the hard disc and play from a Video_TS folder, very strange. Even iDVD likes them, most strange.

Sorry for any confusion, I was just wondering why my cheap supermarket DVD-RW's will play directly in DVD player and iDVD, while the Memorex, Sony, and TDK's that I normally buy are rejected. The data from these DVD-RW's has to be loaded on to the hard-drive in to a Video_TS folder before it will play, it won't play from the original DVD.
I buy most of my DVD-RW's to use in my Sony DVD recorder for recording TV programs. If the TV program is worth keeping I will put the DVD into the Mac, and convert it to QuickTime, for long time storage, i.e. 650MB rather than 4.7GB, then I can re-use the original DVD-RW. This way I can have 4 or 5 movies/ or TV shows on a single DVD.

Are you in a country where films can be redownloaded - the page that you posted from should list countries and where the different content types can be redownloaded. But even if you, not all countries have agreed to allow their films be redownloaded, and there is no guarantee that a film (or any other item) will remain in the store, so you shouldn't rely on being able to redownload them. You also can't add films and/or tv programmes to the cloud, whether an item appears there depends upon your country, the film studio, and if it remains in the store.

If you bought them on your iPad then you will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to the Tones part of your computer's iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPhone - ringtones are a one-time only download, so you won't be able to redownload them directly on your phone.

Can I install the online version rather than using my dvd? it successfully installed (up to a point) that way, it just wont accept my serial number for some reason. my dvd isnt working properly.

If it gets far enough to reject your serial number, it won't help to download it. It must have installed ok.
What is the message you get (DON'T tell us the serial number!!)?
Does it mention a "qualifying product" by any chance?

I can't connect to iTunes. I have Internet connection with wifi and 3G. I bought some hints for Crickler and I cannot claim them. I tried to report the problem using the link on the purchase confirmation email but I can't get into ITunes to report it and I suspect that's why I can't claim the hints. I have an ipad2. Could iTunes be corrupted? I tried rebooting and that didn't work.

Laptop detects some cd and dvd as blank cds .

My laptop is HP G62 470tx notebook pc and product no is LN341PA#AB4. I am using Windows 7 professional 32 bits operating system. some times my laptops does not detect some CD and DVD that write from my laptop , it detects those cd as Blank CD. but when I chek it from another laptop it detects that CDs as usual and work properly. How can I fix this issue ?

Was this working fine previously? If yes, try to check the driver at device manager. It is possible that it may be corrupted or needs to be updated.

You should only make purchases for all your devices using a single Apple ID. There is no need, and indeed a good reason not to, set up a new Apple ID with each new device purchase. While items purchased under different IDs can be played on a single device, you cannot merge Apple IDs and it makes it cumbersome.
Apple IDs do not expire but may become dormant and require reactivation if they are not actively used.
You should make note of your Apple ID and passwords and keep a record of it. Like a bank account it contains access to items with value. Update your Apple ID email address as they change.
I see you were guided to this forum by a help page on recovering your password. If that is not sufficient try the links below. Apple will need to verify you are indeed to owner of the accounts to which you are trying to gain access.

I bought some ebooks from Kobo and all was fine until recently when they began to disappear. Now they are all gone and only the "free" ones remain in the iPad library.
