Bought used macbook air and do not have previous users password. how do i change admin settings without that?

I have purchased a used Macbook Air and am trying to clear previous user account data from system. Previous user gave me his password but it does not work and he has no other ideas. If/can I reboot somehow and not loose the programs that he had installed?
System is MacBook Air 11-inch Mid 2011
1.6 Ghz Intel Core i5 processor
Memory 2GB
Graphics Intel HD 3000 288 MB
Software OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)

You have to erase the drive and reinstall under your ID etc.

Unless you bought those programs under your account they are not yours and you have no rights to use them, you will also be unable to upgrade or reinstall them.

Any content that is currently on the phone will be tied to the account that bought/downloaded it (so you won't be able to update any of its apps or copy its content to your computer's iTunes). You can log out of the currently logged in account by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores if it's on iOS 6) and you can then do Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings to remove all of the previous owner's content - you can then log in with your own account on it and copy your own content onto it from your computer's iTunes

Select: Contacts
Give iCloud a few minutes to sync the data.
For the iPad, make sure Contacts is switched on. Tap Settings > iCloud

There has never been a reliable firewire ---> USB adapter suitable for external high speed storage. This was a major issue when the MacBooks lost the firewire port a number of years ago (Apple subsequently brought it back).
The only high speed port on the Air is the ThunderBolt port. There are external ThunderBolt drive options out there, but they're somewhat more expensive than traditional USB/FireWire options.

Ziatron is correct that Flash does not work on an iPad, but it does work on a Mac. See Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.160.

You need to completely repartition the drive and install a suitable version of OS X that you own. What is the exact year and model of this MBA you have? Did it come with installer discs? If it's a 2010 or later model you can accomplish this using Internet Recover: About OS X Recovery.
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

A 2003 MS office sounds like a Windows version. A 2004 MS Office that was Mac compatible can not be run natively on a new MBA since the Lions do not run PPC applications. You will have to get a newer edition of MS Office that is compatible with your new MBA.

Recently bought a macbook air and the camera doesnt work

Its super frustrating.
It did work once with skype, but after i tried using photobooth it stopped working completely and now it doesnt work on skype, googlehangouts and neither, of course, on photobooth. The computer is quite new and i attempted using the camera only a few times.
Any idea on what this might be?
Maybe something with updates?

Reminders is automatically installed with 10.8 or above. A new Mac should have 10.9; it's possible that, with a third-party vendor, you have an earlier OS. Check under the Apple menu in the top left and click About This Mac. That will tell you what version of OS X you have.
