Bounce Source in Logic Pro 8

Hi all,
My question is Can you choose a bounce source other than output 1 and 2 in Logic pro 8? I have a motu 828 and an apogee psx 100. I mix and monitor through the apogee via spdif and when I have my mix completed I want to bounce without having to change all of the outputs back to 1 and 2 and then setting the fader levels as well as pre mastering plug ins settings to what my spdif outputs are. I am sure others are using external convertors and pre amps. Please advise.

Yes, there is a Bounce button on every output channel strip. If you wish to bounce from 5-6, just click the bounce button on the Output 5-6 object.
The menu bounce command is hardwired to Outputs 1-2 as a convenience.

  • How do you get core audio to work with maverick. I'm using logic pro X

i'm having problem with core audio and maverick

It sounds as if you have altered the Tempo after recording the Audio ( but before selecting +Follow Tempo+ ).
This would make your Regions adapt from the old tempo to the new one, therefore changing their timing.
    Here's a bit more info:
Audio files recorded in Logic Pro can follow the project tempo—inclusive of tempo changes—set in the global tracks.
+Note: These audio files can also follow the first key signature set in the global tracks.+
As an example: If you record a bass solo at 100 bpm, you can change the project tempo to 120 bpm and the bass solo will automatically be played back at the new tempo.
The function works with all audio files that were recorded in, or bounced/exported from, Logic Pro.
The function only works in the parent project (the project the audio files were created in). If you drag a file recorded in a given project to another project with the Finder, the file can not follow the project tempo.
Bounced or exported files can only follow the project tempo if the “Add resulting files to Audio Bin” option was enabled in the Export or Bounce window—prior to the bounce or export.
Files copied between two projects retain the ability to follow the project tempo.
The project’s tempo information is used to tag the beats in the recording. The function works best if your audio files match the project tempo as precisely as possible. The longer your audio files are, the more RAM is required for this functionality to work properly.

  • HELP! Logic Pro bouncing EMPTY MP3 and AIFF files..

    Hi everyone.
I've recently installed Logic Pro 8 onto a new Mac Pro. Entered the code and did a full session recording. But when I go to Bounce the track it goes through the process but then when I look at the Bounced track it is blank :s
I have tried both Mp3 and AIFF bounce and sending them straight to iTunes, but no luck.
    Any ideas?
The only other thing is that I have not yet Registered this Logic online as the Mac hasn't got a connection yet. Could this be the problem?
    Cheers for any help.
    Barka

    There is another possibility.
If, like I do, you are using ANY outboard or DSP FX (UAD-1 for example), or are using an interface with a DSP mixer that you are routing through (Metric HALO, for example), then back to your Logic 2-Buss (Out 1-2), you will need to check the real time check-box on bouncing dialog, and let the project sum in real-time.
    Does this make sense?
    Kind Regards,
    Mark

  • What is the difference when bouncing a Logic Pro X project to Stereo Mode and Normal Mode?

I was was working on a Logic Pro X Project which I am using as a Sequence for a band.  When I completed my project, I mixed for left side to hear the Click track  and I panned everything else to the right side.  After I completed my project, I bounced to Mp3 in Normal Stereo Mode and after opening in iTunes I discovered that I am hearing the click on the right track. I again bounced and tried the Joint Stereo Mode thinking that would fix it but I still get the click track on both left and right.  What is the difference between bouncing to Normal and Joint Stereo.
My goal is to produce a 2 track Mp3 Sequence so that all my click track is only heard on the left side and the produced audio is heard only on the right side.
    Any suggestions?

FIrst, try to bounce to uncompressed aiff or wave and see if you get perfectL-R separation.
The compression algorithm does its voodoo and maybe some of the left right separation gets messed up with it.
    About Joint Stereo.
The idea behind is to save data. The algorithm analyzes the stereo signal, when it sees signals/frequencies that are in the left and right channel, then it says, "having the same signal on the left and right channel is the same as storing only one channel (mono ), and when played back send that one channel to the left and right speaker. it saves you half the storage/transmission". However, you have to trust the voodoo again to think that if what comes out is the same as what went in.
If size and transmission speed isn't an issues, don't use Joint Stereo.
    Hope that helps

  • Logic Pro 7.0.1(840) crashes when attempting to bounce

    Hi, folks.
I've seen this problem posted in this forum before, but it doesn't appear that anyone's come up with an answer yet, and the rest of the interwebnets is nearly silent on the issue as well.
I'm attempting to bounce my final mix down to stereo .aiff. When I either click the Bounce button at the master fader or choose Bounce from the file menu, I get a brief "beach ball" and then Logic crashes. This is before any Bounce dialog box comes up, so I have no opportunity to choose Realtime vs. Offline Bounce (unless there is another place to do this in the application).
I have repaired permissions as suggested by other posts to no effect.
Does anyone have any insight into this problem? I thought it might be a filename issue similar to the one I was having when exporting from Garageband but I made sure to give the project a Unix-friendly name.
I'll paste what seem like relevant excerpts from the crash log below. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • I was working on numerous songs in Logic Pro 9, and for some reason 2 of the songs would not bounce. I get an error message: Error in parameter list / Not an existing volume, and no default volume / Bad positioning information / Bad drive number

I was doing some minor editing in Logic Pro 9.1.8, like adding some plug-ins to audio and midi tracks on numerous songs. Most of the songs I had no problem bouncing. For some reason 2 of the songs I tried to bounce kept showing me this error message:
"Error in parameter list / Not an existing volume, and no default volume / Bad positioning information / Bad drive number" result code=-50.
The songs open and play fine, but won't let me bounce. I've worked with Logic for a few years and this has never happened. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Johnny

Fixed! Ran disk utilities and repaired my external HD.

There are other commerical programs out there that make DVD-Audio discs. Search google for DVD-Audio OS X. These programs cost $100+

  • Itunes doesn´t import and play PCM 5.1 audio files bounced by Logic Pro X

    Hello Evebody!
I use to make many surround mix in logic pro X, and it bounces a PCM 5.1 surround files (.wav)
How I need to organize and Play this mix the itunes should be the best software to do it, however
Itunes don´t reconize this .wav file when I try to drag on its list. The preview by space bar plays the
surround very well the QuickTime as well but Itunes do not accept this kind of file.
If someone knows how to help me with this issue please let me know. I read that itunes accept DTS 5.1 formats
but I want play only the audio file not a movie track.
    Thank´s

Fool Of God, thanks much! I will give this a try. Man, if it's not one thing it's another! I love Apple, but if they keep breaking things, they're going to help Microsoft!
**UPDATE** This work-around did work for me as well, and you're right Fool Of God, makes NO sense at all. The M4A file is 83 MB while the MP3 is only 63. So it has to be a glitch with importing MP3's of any size. Seems that 50MB is the limit. Thanks again, you saved my day!

  • Logic Pro X Crashes when i bounce my song

I recorded an original song via logic pro x (as i have done many times), but with this particular song it keeps crashing when i bounce the project.  I have tried both offline and realtime mode.  I have tried disabling and removing plugins, and i am not using any external plugins.  i am using a macbook pro.  i need help.  i am desperate.  i have bounce the song and tried to send it to itunes but everytime it crashes. and it hasnt been consistent on where it crashes.  please help
    thad

Then either you have a corrupted audio file in there somewhere or the project itself has become corrupted (given you said you were not using any 3rd party plugins and were bouncing in realtime...)
Try using the selective track import facility to import each of the tracks into a new project.... and see if that highlights any issues with audio files.. If you get all the tracks imported across into the new project then try bouncing from that new project instead
    http://music.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-use-selective-track-import-in-logic-p ro-9--audio-3181
Note: This tutorial is for LP9 but it works much the same way in LPX...
Failing that, please take a screenshot of your mixer view and post it up here so we can take a look/see for anything that stands out as a possible cause...

    Hi David,
Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?
Do you have any stored preferences for PDF files in Firefox?

  • Quick bounce from LOGIC PRO 7 to iPOD nano?!

I bought myself an ipod nano 4Gig today.
Since I am a music producer, my intention was to use it as a much more efficient and effective way of listening to the music that I produce on my G5 in Logic Pro 7.
In the past I would bounce the pre-production trax and then use waveburner to write them to a CD-RW. A lot of the time the CD-RW would fail or some CD-players just didnt want to read them + it really took long to get them to CD. So the ipod was for me was an attempt at making this process much quicker and just a whole lot more effective.
So my question is, do any of you know what the fastest and most effective way is to bounce your trax from Logic to the ipod? I tried bouncing directly to the ipod and even though it work and I can see the file is on the ipod, I can't access it and play it. Can one ONLY work through itunes inorder for you to add songs to the ipod?
My friend brought a cheap old little MP3 player to the studio once and it was so easy, I just popped the entire unit into the USB plug (didnt need any cables) and bounced the track straight to the MP3 player, ejected the player and boom played the song.
The only reason why I didn't buy the same MP3 player is because I would like to bounce my songs to my player in AIFF or WAV format not only MP3, so the ipod was the only MP3 player that could do this that I knew of. The ipod does seem to do some of the most basic things the long way around. I mean it can't plug into your USB port without the cable, which is frustrating because how many times does one forget to bring the cable etc.

I seem to have posted this topic twice, got all the awnsers I wanted on the first post.

  • Logic pro 9 on mac pro x 10.6.8. Bounce with noise sound

Hi all, I have logic pro 9 on mac pro x 10.6.8.
Any of you can help me? When I do a bounce, the program start from yesterday to put dirty sound with the track, like a strong rustling/noise.
I downloaded prokit 7 but the bad sound keep still on the result of the bounce.
    Thanks for attention!

I relate the rustling sound you mention to the Audio Input not being locked to digital clock signal, or not being locked to external hardware but even if that was the case I don't think it matters in a Bounce.
How are you bouncing, Realtime or Offline?  Try the opposite from what're you're currently using.
Anything you've done new to the system, any recent plugins or updates, new hardware?

I would like to be able to quickly bounce down my mixes,  through the Zed outputs.

    Pancenter...
Yes... but I have come across some setups that came with a native SL (and even one Lion!) installation.. that somehow had a corrupted or older Prokit installed for some unknown reason... and given it's a quick fix to try.. I thought I'd mention it..
I frankly don't think it is entirely a Prokit issue itself, but it wouldn't do any harm to try and install v7 just in case it is part of the problem...
    +1 on the UAD stuff....
Also, at the time it crashed... according to the logs...the OP was running Ableton Live at the same time, presumably rewired with Logic... so add all that together with UAD plugins... and that's quite a load on the system...
Finally in thread 32 there is a weird exception msg relating to the Trash2 plugin.. that I haven't seen before...

That might be nothing... but as i said, I haven't seen that one before and given what else is going on.. it might be involved too... or nothing to do with that at all!

  • Kontakt instruments playback in Logic Pro 9 but they don't bounce to disk.

After much searching and random attempts with settings in both Logic Pro and the Kontakt player, I haven't found a way to send the playback from the Kontakt player to Logic Pro. In Digital Performer (e.g.) it's accomplished by recording real-time playback of the MIDI-to-Kontakt (or other player being used as a plugin) and then drop the audio file into an audio track. I don't see a way to do that in Logic. When I bounced in realtime I heard the Kontakt instrument but it wasn't recorded. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
MacBook Pro, M-Audio Fast Track Ultra

I believe I am running it as a plugin. Kontakt is checked in the Audio Units Manager as available in Logic Pro and it appears in the Library when I create a stereo External MIDI track. If I create a Software Instruments track (which doesn't see Kontakt), I can reassign the track as a MIDI Instrument and select Kontakt 5 Virtual Input. That justs reassigns the channel as an External MIDI instrument and I'm back where I started.
In Kontakt, the Output for Channel 1 (st. 1) only allows me to select my audio interface - M-Audio Fast Track Ultra. The only selections that will enable stereo playback in Logic appear in this screenshot:
I tried using Reaktor in the same way and got the same result - playback but no bounce.
In response to your multi-timbral setting idea, RT, the patch is a stereo sample and the multi-timbral aspect would only apply if I were loading a Software Instrument track (which apparently only allows selection of instruments within Logic).
I tried working in the Environment window hoping I could cable Kontakt to Logic but that failed as well. I'm stumped.
Thanks for the suggestions. Any other ideas are welcome!

  • Text Style question re INSTR Global text source - Logic Pro X

I write arrangments for an 18 piece big band. The line up is 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, bass, drums, male vocalist & female vocalist.
I only have one GM sound module (Kentron SD2). I use a Midisport 2x4 Midi Interface between the Mac Mini and the Sound Module.
The set up in Logic Pro X is that in the midi envronmemnt I have 1 multi instrument with the complete band linked up to that
The set up is as follows:
    Channel 1  1st and 2nd Altos
    Channel 2  1st and 2nd Tenors
    Channel 3  Baritone
    Channel 4  1st and 2nd Trumpets
    Channel 5  3rd and 4th Trumpets
    Channel 6  1st and 2nd Trombones
    Channel 7  3rd and 4th Trombones
    Channel 8  Piano
    Channel 9  Bass
    Channel 10 Drums
    Channel 11 Male Vocal
    Channel 12 Female Vocal
All the above instrments are on individual tracks even where they share a midi channel- these parts are printed out for use by the band
Channel 13-16 are spare channels that I use during the development of the arrangement - the track contents for these are not printed out
Here is the problem. When I print out the parts for the various insturments and use the INSTR global text to identify the specific instrument on the part header, what is displayed is the patch identity for the various instruments as indicateid in the Library. Logic is not reading the track name for this.
It follows that 1st and 2nd Altos will show on the part header  Alto Sax - similarly for the other wind instruments sharing a midi channel.
I am a recent convert from Logic Audio for Windows v 5.5.1 where I used the same set up. In that case Logic read the track information and therefore the instrument identification was correctly displayed on the printed parts.
Any ideas how I can overcome this problem without having to go into each part and manually change the instrument description.
    thanks
