Bouncing Application Icon in the tray

I have an application that has no GUI at all.
When it launches it creates an icon in the launch bar tray (the generic ruler, graph paper one), that begins to bounce.
First, id like to not have an icon in the tray at all, and secondly, if I must have one, how do I keep it from bouncing like that?

Good!
I haven't done much Carbon programming in recent years. But I tried creating a new "Carbon Application" from Xcode's template... and by default it had an Info.plist in the Resources group. I'm not sure why yours doesn't.
However, when you build your app It looks like the Info.plist goes directly into the app bundle's "Contents" folder and not in "Contents/Resources".
Also, it looks like one way to edit the Info.plist is to select your target in the Xcode "Groups & Files" list then click the "Info" button (or select "File -> Get Info"). In the info window select the "Properties" tab. The settings in this pane go into "Info.plist". There's a button at the bottom of the pane to "Open Info.plist as File"... which you can use to open the plist in an editor to add arbitrary keys and values.

Somehow my application icon in the dock has disappeared. I have no idea where it went but it contains all my applications that i use. How do I get the application icon to return  to the dock. Thanks for your help. I am not computer literate by any means. Thanks

Goto your application folder, find your app then drag/drop it back to the dock.

Gotcha... But actually its limited to 9 icons in the L theme as the Profiles icon is always present. From that screen hit the Menu key to display the bigger list of icons. Arange them so the first 9 icons are the ones you want to see on the L theme.

Is it possible to install application icons on the Nokia 5800 desktop, the first screen?

Yes for few, No for many. Only few applications does it by default ex: handy taskman, ybrowser etc. Other apps goes into the applications menu, you can very well organise those to be on the menu, go to applications > options > organise drag the icon and put it in the root folder.

  • Remove Collapse/expand icons from the tray for all user except administrato

    Hi,
My requirement is to remove the expand/collapse icons from the overview page for all the user but administrator can have those available.
I have set the show tray property to NO , this has made the complete tray invisible for all including the administartor as well.
I want the only icons to be inviisble and not for administrator.
    Please provide your valuable inputs.
    Thanks
    Pooja

    Hi
The best practice in Portal is to create 2 different design, one for users, one for administrators. I mean design : Desktop, Framework Page, Theme ...and so on.
This allows you to manage two ways of displaying or not informations, for sure user view should be different of administrator view.
And you also in your case you should have tow different "overview" iViews, one for users one for administrators.
The "show tray" property should be yes (otherwise you won't see anyting ), but the property "Show Expand/Collapse icon in tray" to NO.
    I hope it will help
    Best regards

  • How do I put application icons on the desktop in simple finder?

The Simple Finder would be a lot simpler if I could put icons to open applications on the desktop instead of buried in a folder. Is there any way to do that? I'm sure there must be, but I can't find it. If I click and hold on one of the icons in the applications folder, it just opens.

Maybe this will allow you to do what you want.
    From Finder Help.
Change preferences for a user’s Simple Finder
In the simple Finder, choose Finder > Run Full Finder, then enter your administrator name and password. In full Finder you can make the changes you want.
When you’re done, choose Finder > Return to Simple Finder.

  • Replacing the Applications Icon in the Dock, not just with an Applications alias--two different things

There is at least one answer to my question posted here, except it's not quite accurate. I too accidentally yanked my Applications folder from the Dock (which, by the way, is very easy to do, so in the way is the Dock. It's just very easy to drag it or any other icon in the dock out accidentally while working in a another programs, most particularly perhaps while working furiously back and forth across the screen in a grahics program. And hiding the Dock doesn't help because one is constantly bumping the sides of the screen with the mouse. In fact, choosing to hide the Dock might make matters worse because one forgets it's there. That's what happened--I accidentally grabbed it and pulled it out.
I thought to put back an alias out of Finder and it works okay, but not like before. The old Applications icon wasn't just an alias (and I don't recall there being a shortcut symbol attached to the old Applications Icon). Now when I click on it I don't get the balloon that used to pop up dislaying all of my program as large icons. Instead I just get a Finder-style list of my applications such that it's harder to locate the program I want to use.
What I really want back is the old Icon that worked as it used to work and that installs with the orginal installation of Snow Leopard. Does anyone know how to get that one back? Thanks,

FYI - All Dock icons are aliases, however they don't show the curly arrow.
To view your folder contents as you wish, right-click on the icon and choose the view options -
"display as" 'folder' will just show the folder, 'Stack' will show the first application in the folder (usually Adress Book).
View contenta as - list or grid - no fan option when the Dock's at the side (as it sounds like yours is).
    EDIT
Incidentally, if you've dragged an alias to the Dock instead of the actual folder from Finder, you now have an alias pointing to another alias pointing to the Applications folder.
    Bit unnecesary.

  • Changing stack applications icon in the dock

    Dear readers,
Do anyone now how to change the aperence of the application's stack in the dock. The stacks automaticly vieuw the contents of the folder. but i dont like that because you cant see clearly if it is the applications folder or the download folder.

do you have an advanced copy of 10.5.2? the options you describe are not currently available but are reportedly present in 10.5.2.
back to the original poster's question. You can wait a few days till 10.5.2 comes out and then you'll be able to do what Kappy says. If you don't want to wait you can put an image (or an icon) file in the folder used for your stack and rename it so that it comes first alphabetically. This way your stack will (mostly) look like that image.

  • Home folder has Applications icon in the Dock

When I open the finder, my home directory is depicted with the "Home" icon (looks like a littel house) in the side-bar.
However, when I drag it to the Dock, it instead acquires the Applications icon (looks like the letter A) in the Dock. The net effect is that I have two folders in the Dock that look like Application folders -- very confusing.
Similarly, folders that I have given my own icons to appear properly (as their icons) in the sidebar of the finder, but when I drag them to the Dock, they just appear as blank folders.
Is there a fix or workaround?
    I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.8.
    Thanks,
    -W.

    Oof. I see the problem.
I was displaying as Stack, so the icon displayed in the Dock was that of the first item in the folder
When I displayed instead as Folder, it came out right.

  • How can I remove an application icon from the loc. bar and prevent it from auto loading?

I don't know the "lingo" of how-to's with Firefox; but I subscribed to www.catalogchoice.org. Somehow, the icon appears to the right of my print icon in the location bar and automatically pops-up when I go to any website. I can't find how to remove it from the toolbar and remove it from Firefox. I cancelled my subscription with them but continue to have this annoyance.

  • Firefox launches and re-loads my tabs, but clicking on the tray icon doesn't display the window

I can see that Firefox is loaded and running (running Windows 7) - I can hear notices of emails arriving and see the miniature version of the active tab when my mouse hovers over the icon in the tray - but when I click on it it doesn't expand the window so that I can view it. I have tried closing and re-opening as well as restarting my computer. I'm hoping for a solution that preserves the open tabs I currently have. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

    * Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.
    * Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window (use the keyboard cursor keys).
If that works then first close all other open Firefox windows and then close Firefox via "File > Exit/Quit" to save that setting.
If the above didn't help then see:

  • Air application appears to be running but is only in the "tray"

I downloaded the Adobe Air installer and seemed to have successfully installed an air application. (I have done this on my own laptop, but was doing it on another machine, which runs Server 2003).  The app seems to install fine. I start it up and it places an icon in the tray, highlighted as running, but the app does not appear anywhere.  Right-click and I can click "close", as if it is indeed running. The task and process appear as runniing in the Task Manager. What gives? Why can't I see my app?

Hard to tell, can you send me the app so I can give it a try on my system?  Would you mind installing another AIR app (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/tourdeflex.html for example) to see if it launches and appears as expected?
    Thanks,
    Chris
