Bouncing as a .wav

My options when I bounce are:
pcm
mp3
aac
burn cd
Is there a way to bounce as a wav file?

Yesss! PCM (Pulse Coded Modulation) IS the right choice.
In fact it's the base of all uncompressed formats.
After that you can choose if your PCM file must be .wav, .aiff or .sd2

when I bounce in the Wave or MP3 file is distorted or saturated. Why?(with bounce in AIFFare correct). Thank you

    1. Check your mix if it contains a limiter as the very last plugin in the stereo output channel. Everything above 0db will clip the sound. The limiter makes sure nothing goes beyond that treshold.
    2. Check bounce settings: A WAV/AIFF file should have 44.100 kHz samplerate and at least 16 bit. This is the standard for bouncing CD quality. Maybe you messed things up for WAV by reducing samplerate and/or bitdepth.
    3. As for mp3, check that the bitrate is set to at least 128kb/s or better to obtain an acceptable quality. Anything lower will introduce artifacts that scramble the sound.

  • Bouncing as WAV file

I've got my trusty manual out, and it's telling me that in order to bounce as a .wav file (as opposed to .mp3) I should go to the "Bounce Dialog Window" and select PCM format (which I guess is SDII, AIFF or WAV and thus what I want).
Problem is: I have absolutely no idea where the Bounce Dialog Window is located. When I go to FILE > BOUNCE (or just click "Bnce" on my output in the Environment Window) a Save As window pops up, wherein I cannot see any option to change from MP3 to PCM format. That can't be it. Or if it is, perhaps I've disabled something important somewhere?
I've now opened every single window I can think of to look for this and am stumped. Any help would be most appreciated. Danke.

    Thanks Walter.
Unfortunately, the same issue happens... In whichever window I select "Bounce" from -- Environment, Audio Mixer, or even FILE > BOUNCE -- a window titled "Bounce 'Output 1-2' " pops up. I'm guessing this is what you mean by the "Bounce Output Window." But, there I'm only able to name the file in the "Save As" field, choose where to bounce the file to on my harddrive, and then click on "Bounce" in the bottom-right of the window. I have no tabs or anything else to choose from. So I'm still a little stumped. Any additional thoughts?
    I really appreciate the help.

  • Is it possible to take a mixed and bounced wav and convert it back into the original individual aiff separate tracks?

Hello.  Is it possible to take a song that has been bounced down to a .wav and is now in itunes, and import it back into logic but as the original seperate tracks that make up the bounced .wav?  I have some songs I recorded when I first started using Logic, and the mix and mastering is horrible.  I have gotten way better since then and I would like to remix and re-master some of these tracks.  Only trouble is I no longer have the original seperate track Logic Aiff files. I know I can obviously import the bounced down stereo .wav file and remaster that, but it would be really cool if Logic had some way of recalling the song back into its seperate tracks.  Is there any way at all to do this? If Logic can't do this maybe there is an app out there that can?
Even though I just downloaded Logi X I also decided to keep Logic 9.  So I can run both if that helps.
    Thanks,
    Mike

That would be like mixing a cake batter and deciding you wanted to start over using the same ingredients, separating the eggs, milk, baking powder, baking soda, flour...etc, back into their original form.
Can't be done... the instruments share the same frequency ranges.  There is sofware that let's some adjustment to pitch be done but trying to pull out individual instrument/vocal tracks from a mix would leave you with very, very inferior tracks to re-mix with.

  • Bounced (rendered wav files) file issues

Got a mix, all good, nice blend , nothing overpowering , good bass and kick balance and mids are just right( mix not mastered so i am sure mix could be improved) but ok for currenty purpose. Ok now bounce file(used power dithering option 1) , played back wav file now it sounds like sh.....t , bass is realy dominant kick is extremly loud and sound is cluttered. Why? should i not use the dither option? in other words after bouncing mix to wav the sound is no where close to the original mix even on same monitors used to reference mix originally, issues are more pronounce when playing back on other systems. Point me in right direction
    thanks

First of all, if you don't have bit depth conversion dithering is absolutely unneeded.
Second, try using another audio format (AIFF or SDII, but I prefer the first).
Third, if you have a DAT recorder, try recording your audio card's analog stereo out directly onto the DAT then, if you need, re-import it digitally into Logic. (take care of DAT sampling rate, 48Khz, and of clock settings)
Fourth, some audio cards (like MOTU's one) can send a mixed stereo out back to the DAW software without cabling anything.
    Let me know.

  • How do I get time stamped Wav files created in L7 to lock to time code?

    Hello everyone,
I did a search about time stamping audio files and was VERY happy to discover the "broadcast wave" format timestamps audio files! So I'm running tests, but cant seem to get logic to actually place the audio file according to the time stamp!
Method: I'm currently scoring a film, and have each cue as separate logic files. To sync Logic's timecode and the TC window burn, I set in the "sync" song settings that bar 1 play at the start of the cue (no offset). For example, If I want to start writing a cue at 1:06:27:05, I just tell logic that bar 1 starts at 1:06:27:05 and start writing. Both logics TC & The window burn TC match perfectly. When I bounce, I choose my bars and bounce as a "wave," which creates a file with time code stamped. I verify this by looking at the file in the audio window, which shows a clock icon, as well as the specific smpte time code if you select the file before importing into the audio bin.
From here, how do I get logic to automatically place the audio files according to their time code? I've tried "import audio" directly into the arrange page as well as dragging the file over from the audio bin and neither work. I've also tried then "cutting" these and "paste at original position" hoping it would read the time code, but instead just pastes it where it was originally imported, not according to the time code.
So I'm stumped! What am I doing wrong?
thanks in advance for your help!

Highlight the regions and then from the audio menu select "move regions to original record positions"

  • .wav file not recognized in Premiere 8

I am trying to edit a video for which I am using a .wav audio file for the audio.  I have done this before with no problem.  Now Premiere tells me it does not recognize the .wav media file, and may be missing a codec.
When I go back to other projects I have done this way before, I find that I can't open the audio portion of ANY of them.  On the project, the audio line shows, but is flat-lined.
Have I lost something.  FYI, I am combining audio from concerts (recorded on Pro-tools and bounced to a .wav file) with video of the same concerts recorded on two video cameras.  Then, I combine and synchronize to create a finished video with good sound and picture.
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Thad Reynolds

    Thad,
    Welcome to the forum.
With PCM/WAV, the Audio is not compressed, so this should not be a CODEC issue. One thing to note is that there is also LPCM/WAV, and for some reason, a few of the Adobe products have issues with the LPCM, where the PCM version causes no issues.
I'd just run one of the WAV files through G-Spot (PC-only), or MediaInfo (PC, or Mac), and see what it says about the files.
I also assume that you are on the Mac, considering that you mention ProTools. Is that correct?
Were the older Projects, also with WAV files, created on the Mac, or perhaps another computer?
In very general terms, PrE should work perfectly with PCM/WAV files at 48KHz 16-bit. These are uncompressed files, and are the native format for Audio in PrE.
    Good luck,

  • Using .wav file format in GarageBand (GB)?

I am importing files from a Zoom H4n recorder in to GB.  I am using 4 mic's so the Zoom recorded saves two files, one for one set of mic's and one for the other set of mic's.  They are in .wav format.  When I import the two files in to GB, they get converted to .aif format.  It seems to compress the files since the file size shrinks.  For example, the .wav files are 140 MB each.  After importing them in to GB, the .aif file is 104 MB.  I want to keep the .wav format.  Is there a way to do that in GB or do I need another software application that will allow me to edit in .wav and save it in .wav?  Thanks.

Which version of GarageBAnd are you using?
When I import .wav files to GarageBand 10.0.3 and open the .band project with ctrl-click > Show Package content, I can see, that the .wav files are stored "as is", in the original format in the Media > Audio Files folder.
But the edited song cannot be bounced as a wav file. You can only export from GarageBAnd as AIFF, MP3, or AAC.

  • Query on bounce back

    Hi,
I a multi wave campaign, I see that the contacts having an invalid email address, ie. either a soft or hard bounce, get the wave 1 email, but get stuck up in later waves.
I expected the hard bounce contacts to be held in the fist email step itself, but I believe they don't get held since there is some delay in getting the bounce back status from the receiving ISP.
    Is that the case?
Secondly, do the soft bounce contacts get held in the email step?
    Aditya

    Hi Aditya,
Soft bounces do not prevent email sends. What you are most likely seeing is that an email send action was successfully attempted to the contact on the first wave because they did not have a hard bounceback status at the time they entered. This would allow them to leave the email send step and continue on to the rest of the campaign.
However, despite the send action being successfully attempted, the receiving mailserver rejected the message due to some reason (filter, invalid, blocked, etc). Only now would the contact have a hard bounce status, and further email sends on the campaign canvas will be prevented or blocked - meaning that the send action is not even attempted. For these contacts, you have the option to route them to another step on the campaign canvas, such as an "Add to shared list" or even a wait step, which will put them in an error group for later review.
    Best regards,

  • I have to reinstall Prokit everyday because logic crashes when trying to bounce!!

When I want to bounce/export a wav file in logic, it crashes, the ball keeps spinning forever. I found the solution here, it's removing and reinstalling Prokit. But I have to do it everyday!! As soon as I restart the bug is back and I have to reinstall Prokit. What can I do about this'? I have updated osx to 10.6.8 and logic to the latest available update.

  • Speaker sound bar

I just purchsed a LG LSB316 sound bar. It does not have an HDMI output/input yet it has an optical jack. Neither my tv nor my blu ray player have an input for an optical. What is my next step?

Slightly yes. By using the optional option, you will be getting a true 5.1 surround signal to the sound bar. With that being said, the sound bar tries to "reproduce" the surround effect by bouncing the sound waves in different directions. The sound bar is still technically 2 channel audio. You will get a little different sound by using the aux over the optical, but most likely you won't be able to tell. If you do want the true 5.1 signal being sent then you would have to find a source that has the optical output.

  • Frightening little info about Exporting (merging) to usuable audio file.

New to Logic Pro but in great distress over deadline.
There is very little to read in the manual about exporting a project (audio and software tracks) to MP3 or .wav or whatever to send to listeners.
Do I have to get new software for this? The only file I´ve succeeded to make was AIFF (?) and that doesn´t even work in iTunes. Need merging to .wav and then converting to mp3. Can Logic handle this?
    Appreciatively
    Snöskall

Under the 'File' menu, at the bottom is two options, one is under 'Export' and is to export audio track as audio file (cmd E) or just under export, is 'Bounce' which allows you to bounce down your entire project as an option of file formats, in your case you can bounce down to .Wav.
    Hope it helps

  • Randomly skips/fails to play some samples during playback?

Randomly skips/fails to play some samples during playback?

You're right that was foolish let me clarify.
Raising the I/O buffer thing is a good idea, i've tried that already though and no joy
BASICALLY i've had this problem with a couple of tracks, ones which i have worked on the longest and probably the ones with the most effect plugins and tracks used. Seemingly at random during playback some of the samples dont play (and some even stop playing halfway through the sample). If the regions are bounced, the resulting wav file visibly splits the original sound where the computer 'decided' to stop/restart playing the sample. Again, i haven't found a pattern: - at one point a four bar loop with three tracks solo'd would play all the tracks perfectly during playback for a few seconds, then suddenly switch to only playing one track, then switch back after another few seconds.
    Weird.
I think it may be related to previous experience which i have had with the Space Designer and Echo effects, where the echo or reverb sound itself cuts out halfway through the sound/after a seemingly random amount of time (and then cuts back in).
I've seen this reverb and effect problem on more than one computer, but the original problem with the track playback is, in my experience, unique to my system.
The computer i'm using is not old or at all running out of memory (although i realise this does not exempt it from being the cause of the problem)
Anyway this has been trolling me for weeks and its driving me mad
    Thanks

  • Updated Skype, now it does not work

Once MS get hold of anything it stops working. Reason is that the zit faced idiots at MS just happen to know what we the customer wants.
In my case I was advised to update Skype, and ever since I have no skype. If one of the idiots at Skype aka MS reads this perhaps you would do me the courtesy of telling me why you decided to fix something that was not broken. Also how the heck do I get Skype on to my lap top which runs with Windos Vista and almost the whole world knows full well the VISTA WAS, IS and ALWAYS will be C R A P! We also know why you pulled it so quick IBM was going to close you down WORLDWIDE.
So how do I get the super duper new crappy skype to run on my laptop. Reply to my email please.
This post was transferred from its previous location to create its own new topic here; its subject and/or title has been edited to differentiate the post from other inquiries and to reflect the post's content.
We here in the Community are not a branch of Skype Customer Service, and do not have a facility to reply via e-mail.

I wrote in ENGLISH precisely what the problem is. However I shall repeat it  in SIMPLE terms:
    1. I logged into my Skype account
    2. I was told I HAD to DOWNLOAD the LATEST VERSION of SKYPE.
    3. I FOLLOWED the download and install instructions.
    4. I receieved an ERROR MESSAGE that said it was not valid in the speciified STATE - WE IN ENGLAND DO NOT HAVE STATES.
    5. Ever since I have tried several times to download the latest version of SKYPE and it will not install.
    6. I have tried to contact SKYPE and get referred to the FAQ's which when I try to find out what is wrong tells me I now NEED to contact Skype which then refers me to the FAQ's - ad infinitum. IN OTHER WORDS I am unable to find an answer nor can I contact the idiots behind the update.
I do not want all the "goodies" that some zit faced idiot has decreed I want. I want to be able to call my sister who lives abroad - I have an email facility so can send any images I want to her that way. I DO NOT HAVE AN I-phone BECAUSE ALL I need is the ability to make a yak-yak call or send an SMS. The mobile phone aka in yank land "Cell phone" is a simple one which is all I need. IF I WANT TO I can send live TV from my home to my friends / relatives by using BIG WHITE MANS MAGIC aka THE WIRELESS by bouncing a radio wave off the F layer of the Ionosphere.
You see I am a qualified electronics engineer, use the computer for serious stuff not games etc., and the ability to make a telephone using the computer is actually my doing - I served in the ROYAL AIR FORCE as an AIR ELECTRONICS OFFICER, know one end of a MORSE KEY from the other, can design a wirelss transmitter to operate at any frequency you can think of including radar and my philosophy is KISS - KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.
MY OS is WINDOWS VISTA - home and the latest version of SKYPE is supposed to be compatible. As usual soem idiot decided to fix something that was not broken and give me things I don't need.

  • Audio interface and external hard drive config for new imac 21"

Hi. Just got the new imac 21" and I'm considering using it as my main daw with Logic Studio as an upgrade from my old sonar mobo. I usually run up to 40 tracks of recorded audio with fx plugs. I hope to do this at 24 bit 96 instead of 24bit 44 like I did on the old system. I also run the occasional softsynth and sequencer which I don't mind bouncing down to .wav to conserve cpu.
I really like the specs on the m-audio profire 2626 (I need the 8 mic inputs for recording drums) which needs firewire. But at the same time I'm reading a lot of recommendations about using an fw800 external drive for audio. I've read a little about daisy chaining and I'm wondering if anyone's gotten this type of configuration to work. I'm also open to any other configuration options you have to share that would enable my goal of successfully using this mac with logic.
thanks in advance for the help,
    dave

I run three firewire audio interfaces daisy chained together, 2 Presonus FP10's and an Alesis Multimix8.
This gives me 24 simultaneous inputs. I normally record 24 bit at 88.2 . My iMac has a FW800 and a FW400 port. What I tried to do was run all the interfaces through the 400 and record to a FW800 external hard drive but I it kept dropping out interfaces, even if I used only one interface. I switched firewire cables on the hard drive to a 800/400 so that the hard drive was now operating as a 400 and I did not have any more interface drop outs.
Even though the iMac has 2 firewire ports, they connect to a single cable to the i/o inside the Mac. If I try recording to an external hard drive, that is 24 tracks going into the Mac, back out to the hard drive, back in to the Mac and then back out to the interfaces and on to the monitor speakers. That is a lot to ask of a firewire connection.
So, I record to the internal drive and use the external for backing up and saving the projects.
