Bouncing as WAV file

I've got my trusty manual out, and it's telling me that in order to bounce as a .wav file (as opposed to .mp3) I should go to the "Bounce Dialog Window" and select PCM format (which I guess is SDII, AIFF or WAV and thus what I want).
Problem is: I have absolutely no idea where the Bounce Dialog Window is located. When I go to FILE > BOUNCE (or just click "Bnce" on my output in the Environment Window) a Save As window pops up, wherein I cannot see any option to change from MP3 to PCM format. That can't be it. Or if it is, perhaps I've disabled something important somewhere?
I've now opened every single window I can think of to look for this and am stumped. Any help would be most appreciated. Danke.

Thanks Walter.
Unfortunately, the same issue happens... In whichever window I select "Bounce" from -- Environment, Audio Mixer, or even FILE > BOUNCE -- a window titled "Bounce 'Output 1-2' " pops up. I'm guessing this is what you mean by the "Bounce Output Window." But, there I'm only able to name the file in the "Save As" field, choose where to bounce the file to on my harddrive, and then click on "Bounce" in the bottom-right of the window. I have no tabs or anything else to choose from. So I'm still a little stumped. Any additional thoughts?
I really appreciate the help.

  • Bounced (rendered wav files) file issues

Got a mix, all good, nice blend , nothing overpowering , good bass and kick balance and mids are just right( mix not mastered so i am sure mix could be improved) but ok for currenty purpose. Ok now bounce file(used power dithering option 1) , played back wav file now it sounds like sh.....t , bass is realy dominant kick is extremly loud and sound is cluttered. Why? should i not use the dither option? in other words after bouncing mix to wav the sound is no where close to the original mix even on same monitors used to reference mix originally, issues are more pronounce when playing back on other systems. Point me in right direction
    thanks

First of all, if you don't have bit depth conversion dithering is absolutely unneeded.
Second, try using another audio format (AIFF or SDII, but I prefer the first).
Third, if you have a DAT recorder, try recording your audio card's analog stereo out directly onto the DAT then, if you need, re-import it digitally into Logic. (take care of DAT sampling rate, 48Khz, and of clock settings)
Fourth, some audio cards (like MOTU's one) can send a mixed stereo out back to the DAW software without cabling anything.
    Let me know.
    cheers

  • Can I build vst instruments from wave files?

I have a bounce of wave files and would like to use them as vst instruments in Logic. Can I build my own vst instrument somehow?

You can load them into the EXS24.

  • Why, when I bounce to iTunes, do my wave files show up with no sound?

When I bounce wave files to iTunes the file has a time and the title shows up, but no sound when you double click on it. The time bar moves like its playing but no sound!!

If you bounce as AAC or MP3, you will lose some quality. Better to bounce in AIF or WAV if you intend to burn to CD. Now, why you can't play it in iTunes or from finder, that is weird. Like someone suggested, try AIF format. That is all I use and I can play anywhere. When you go to "Get Info" in iTunes (for the song), does it have a time? You can also try opening the file (from your Bounced folder) into Audacity? It's a free app and very nice. You will be able to see the sound wave. This will verify that you actually have sound in the file.
Let us know what you find.

  • Bouncing individual tracks creates 2 wav files for each..why?!!

When I bounce individually selected tracks from Logic Express, it creates a double wav file in my folder for each track I bounce. It didn't use to do that and I haven't changed any settings... Please HELP :/

By "double wav" do you mean that you are getting a separate audio file for left channel and another for right channel, something like this?
Be sure to check in your bounce window that you have "interleaved" checked instead of "split."
Depending on how you're exporting/bouncing your tracks this may not help, but you can always solo the desired track and bounce your song with "interleaved" selected to get a single stereo file of that individual track.

  • Bounced WAV files's timestamp doesn't match timeline issue.

I'm mixing down some music for picture. In Logic Pro 8.01, the audio/video sync perfectly. But the bounced WAV files' timestamp does not match. For example, in Logic Pro/Video's timeline, it is starting at 01:00:00:00, but the resulting WAV file's timestamp is at 01:00:03:18. Or Logic's timeline start at 01:13:22:00, the resulting WAV file's timestamp is at 01:13:26:12. I checked it with Pro Tools and BWAVReader.
Logic is set at 29.97 Non Drop and 48kHz matching the DV file. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

my preference would be to get Audition 3 (too bad we can't get an upgrade price from CS3 Production Premium to Audition 3...).
Are you sure. I got Audition 3 for US$99, IIRC, from CS2 Production Studio (contained Au 2.0). That was just after the release of Au 3, but not THAT long ago. With CS3 Production Premium, I would think that you would qualify even more than I did.
One point - I'm not using Reverb as an effect...
Then that was my error. I thought that you HAD added a bit of Reverb - sorry. And no, I was talking about the Effect, not the room ambience. Just a mistake on my part.
I am going to try a work around tonight... I am going to export each of the 2 audio tracks separately (with effects applied) and then bring those 2 WAVs back into PP3 to be mixed and just drop the original audio to see what happens
I often do similar to what you are doing - Upmixing. I know that the music industry is opposed to this with re-releases of music, where original multi-channel masters do not exist, but for my work, it is OK. I'll use duplicate Audio, just as you are, and then mix each 2-channel Clip a bit differently, using a touch of EQ, Reverb and Delay (most often), plus the spatial location of the sources for DD 5.1 SS mixing. Now, I am keeping the Effects to a minimum, but the Audio is room-filling, when I do it right, and with a light-hand. For my sources, I have found subtle is better, unless I need a panned SFX, or similar, and then I get to go a bit wild, like landing the helicopter on the back of the audience's heads!
Have you tried SoundBooth for the Audio mixing? I only used it in Beta, but had Audition, so never saw the use for it in my workflow. Who knew that Audition would soon be only a stand-alone?
Good luck, and please let me know what you find out with your tests. I can always learn more about the Audio-side of the street.

  • How to bounce or render a mono wav file?

Hello all....this seems like a basic question, but I'm stumped. How do you bounce a stereo project to a mono (sum of both L and R) file? I switched the little "interlocking circles" symbol on the master output to a single circle, but that seems to move the summed audio to the L channel only, and then looking at the bounced file, it creates a stereo L + R channel, with the audio showing up on the L and a blank R channel. What I want is a single waveform containing both L + R audio, resulting in a balanced sound in L and R speakers. This should also result in half the file size of a stereo wav file the same length.
    Thanks in advance.

Set the Stereo Outst to mono, then use the little bounce button underneath the fader to bounce. Using a bounce keycommand will always result in a stereo bounce. Using that little button will create a true mono file. If you have already inserted stereo Plugs on the Master Out this will not work, the Outs will remain stereo. So remove those plugs first.

  • Does Logic bounce to multichannel (surround) wav files?

I have surround and interleaved selected as bounce options, but Logic is still bouncing to multiple mono files. Am I doing something wrong, or is Logic just not able to bounce to a multichannel wav file (like Pro Tools does)?

That's disappointing. Looks like I'll have to dump the monos into protools or find a converter.
I hope apple fixes this in the next version, especially since it looks like STP2 handles multichannel audio files.

  • Tempo problems with imported wav files

Hey everyone, sorry if there's a quick fix for this in the forums that I couldn't find, but I've been having some tempo problems with imported .wav files.
Long story short, my system couldn't handle playing all the tracks for a song while recording drums, so I bounced out an mp3 of the song and put it in a new Logic file so my drummer could just play along to that as I recorded him. Unfortunately, the original song is at 167 bpm, but I forgot to change the bpm in the new Logic file with the .mp3 file of the song to 167 bpm, so it was left at the default 120 bpm.
So, the drums were recorded at the correct 167 bpm, but Logic thinks that those new drum .wav files should be played at 120 bpm, so when I import my drum tracks back into the original file, they do not play correctly at all.
I could get record it all again, but I wanted to check if there was a way I could salvage what I already have, since my drummer lives about an hour away right now and can't just come over whenever he wants.
Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it.

    Hi,
First, do not use MP3 in Logic, the sound quality is less than AIFF, WAV or CAF, and Logic has to decode it for playback, making it a heavier burden on the CPU than an uncoded audiofile, such as AIFF, WAV or CAF.
Secondly, audio files are independent of Logic's tempo. If you bounce down an audio file in any format (other than Apple Loop), it will play back at the same speed, +regardless of Logics' tempo setting+, either at recording or playback. Logic doesn't 'think' anything. The BPM is only important to MIDI tracks, or to the spacing between audio files. The audio files themselves *are not affected* by the tempo setting. If you import an audio file of tempo 167 into a 120 BPM project, the file will still play at 167, only Logic will indicate the wrong bar positions.
    regards, Erik.

  • Problem in playing back mp3 which was recorded as wav file

    Hi all,
I have recorded sound using my program. It uses classes like AudioSystem. And it's
able to record and play also. but in my site I have an mp3 player. So i thought of converting the recorded wav file into mp3. For this i used LAME utility in Linux. And it was converted. Also it is being played in normal players like Winamp. But when i try to play this converted mp3 file using my player in my site it's having problem. Why is it like that?
Should i do something while capturing the sound from microphone so that it can be converted into mp3 format??
    Or
Can I directly capture voice to an mp3 file??
    In my program,
    targetDataLine.open(audioFormat) where audioFormat is like
    float sampleRate = 8000.0F;
    int sampleSizeInBits = 16;
    int channels = 1;
    boolean signed = true;
    boolean bigEndian = false;
Should I do something more or change something??
    Please help me...
    Thanx and Regards,
    sand...

  • Wav files created in Logic won't play on I-tunes

I recently recorded some songs in Logic, bounced them to a wav file and tried to open & play it in I-tunes (I have the latest I-tunes)...when I click on the file to open it in i-tunes, the i-tunes main window appears, but nothing plays & the song is not on their. Also when I drag the files to the i-tunes window, nothing happens. Any suggestions?

No, these files are 16bit...I had this same problem 2 days ago, and after re-mixing several times, I finally got one to open in i-tunes, but I've never had this problem before.

  • .wav file not recognized in Premiere 8

I am trying to edit a video for which I am using a .wav audio file for the audio.  I have done this before with no problem.  Now Premiere tells me it does not recognize the .wav media file, and may be missing a codec.
When I go back to other projects I have done this way before, I find that I can't open the audio portion of ANY of them.  On the project, the audio line shows, but is flat-lined.
Have I lost something.  FYI, I am combining audio from concerts (recorded on Pro-tools and bounced to a .wav file) with video of the same concerts recorded on two video cameras.  Then, I combine and synchronize to create a finished video with good sound and picture.
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Thad Reynolds

    Thad,
    Welcome to the forum.
With PCM/WAV, the Audio is not compressed, so this should not be a CODEC issue. One thing to note is that there is also LPCM/WAV, and for some reason, a few of the Adobe products have issues with the LPCM, where the PCM version causes no issues.
I'd just run one of the WAV files through G-Spot (PC-only), or MediaInfo (PC, or Mac), and see what it says about the files.
I also assume that you are on the Mac, considering that you mention ProTools. Is that correct?
Were the older Projects, also with WAV files, created on the Mac, or perhaps another computer?
In very general terms, PrE should work perfectly with PCM/WAV files at 48KHz 16-bit. These are uncompressed files, and are the native format for Audio in PrE.
    Good luck,

  • Using .wav file format in GarageBand (GB)?

I am importing files from a Zoom H4n recorder in to GB.  I am using 4 mic's so the Zoom recorded saves two files, one for one set of mic's and one for the other set of mic's.  They are in .wav format.  When I import the two files in to GB, they get converted to .aif format.  It seems to compress the files since the file size shrinks.  For example, the .wav files are 140 MB each.  After importing them in to GB, the .aif file is 104 MB.  I want to keep the .wav format.  Is there a way to do that in GB or do I need another software application that will allow me to edit in .wav and save it in .wav?  Thanks.

Which version of GarageBAnd are you using?
When I import .wav files to GarageBand 10.0.3 and open the .band project with ctrl-click > Show Package content, I can see, that the .wav files are stored "as is", in the original format in the Media > Audio Files folder.
But the edited song cannot be bounced as a wav file. You can only export from GarageBAnd as AIFF, MP3, or AAC.

  • How do you save your music as a .wav file?

    Group,
I am new to logic express and have getting around pretty well but I am having a problem saving all of my tracks to a single output wav file. Everything I see saved in my project folder has an .aif extension. I was hoping this could be as easy as an option in "save as" but this does not seem to be the case.
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dan

When you create a bounce from the File menu or your Stereo Out or Out 1-2 (bnce), depending on your Logic version, you can specify the File Type there in the dialog box which opens up.

  • I cannot import 5.1 WAV files into iTunes

    Hello
I'm running iTunes 11.1.5 (5) 64 bit on OSX 10.9.2. I'm trying to import some wav files into iTunes, they are about 6-11 minutes long each, they have 5.1 (6 total) channels, 16 bit depth and are sampled at 48,000 kHz. I can run them in QuickTime Player 10.3 (727.3) without any problems, but iTunes will not run them. This stil happens if I try to import the same files when they are in Apple Lossless format as well. I have several other surround sound files sourced from other stuff and they wil not import either, but they still run in Quicktime Player just fine. I don't have any pluging installed for iTunes or QuickTime Player. Does iTunes just not support surround sound audio, or is there something wrong with the files that I'm trying to import?

    Hi Michael,
I bounced a PCM 5.1 WAV Audio File from Logic Pro X, This File alredy plays 5.1 surround from desktop just with the space bar preview and also with QuickTime ok? But Itunes 11 doesn´t import PCM 5.1 (multi) Wav audio files as you know, so I Knew that in the Itunes 11 for the movies tracks the 5.1 surround audio is automatic.See this link below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4072 -
    What I did?
I just imported my audio file to Apple COMPRRESSOR, and choose the H.264 output format and I changed from .MOV to .MP4 (This one Itunes import with multi audio 5.1)
and also select 48 Khz and 720 Kbps. After encoding my audio file from ( 226 Mb) PCM 5.1 Wav about 4.20'  went to a AAC 6 channes 48 Khz / 720 Kbps  .MP4 file with 24 Mb size. Itunes import withou problem and played 5.1 surround as I wish.
I hope you understood my explanation,
    Regards
    Paulo
