Bounding box prints with a slight shade... Not good!

I hope I can explain this correctly... When I add an effect to text like a drop shadow, when I go to print it out, the bounding box the text it's in prints with a slight shade. This happens with objects also. Is there something that need to be clicked on or off?
InDesign CS5, Mac.

Have a look at this post here and report back here if you have any problems putting it into practise. I'm not sure if that post mentions it but another way that can sometimes work is to make sure you are using process colours instead spots like Pantone, I've found it stops it happening on our Fuji Xerox.

Issues like this are going to be related to the network. Intermittant problems are typically due to network interference, have you checked istumbler.net to get a report of your network?

CS2 Need to set text bounding box to snap to exact measurement, not em size and without leading

I am currently using CS2 working in a sign shop designing signs, banners and vehicle lettering.
When working with text I need to know the exact letter height, not the em and without the leading. I need it exactly the way it would measure if converting the text to outlines. The reason I need this information is that when I output the lettering to a cutter/plotter to cut vinyl media I need to know the exact measurement so I can nest my lettering on my media size. The media is typically 24" wide which gives me 22.5" of available space once the pinch rollers on the machine are considered. Pinch rollers are rollers that engage a knurled driving wheel and "pinches" the media between them and thus guides the media through the plotter. Of course, when using any media one must make the best use of it to avoid making scrap or using more than is needed for the job at hand. Converting text to outlines gives me that measurement.
One time awhile back I did a google search on this and found a one or two button fix that made the bounding box snap to the exact "ruler" height of the text. It worked great. But I got away from design work for a short period. When I returned I'd forgotten the process. Back when I did find it I never bookmarked or made a text file explaining the process and I'm ost in finding it again.
I don't know exactly how I worded the google search but the answer I was looking for came up on the first page. That's probably why I didn't feel the need to bookmark it or write it down. Now, I've googled dozens of different wordings for my question and get nothing. It's likely a nomenclature/jargon issue and I've yet to stumble on it again.
If anyone could help out I would so greatly appreciate it. As it is, when I get to the point that I need to know the exact ruler height of my lettering I convert my text to outlines. But then, as sometimes happens, I'll desire to change the font or try someting different but the text is not live so I'll have to start over with that line of lettering.
I sincerely hope my explanation of my questions makes sense to anyone who might be reading this.

Jacob Bugge, you are a blessing. This effect not only saves me time but avoids a lot of frustration when a client wants to change some copy or I commit a spelling error or have some other brain malfunction. Not to mention the sometimes hundreds of single words or number groups I must fit onto an artboard set to my available media space.
Option 2 is exactly what I was looking for and I'll remember it forever now as I've spent parts of the past week searching that answer only to hear over and over again, "You can't do that in Illustrator".

Bounding box, paths and control points are not visible

When I select an element, in this case a building, to make changes, the entire file is selected instead of the building. There is nothing to ungroup when this happens. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Thanks

You may have a look for Clipping Masks or other means of disguising the artwork. You may start by looking at the Layers palette/panel (expand as needed).
Presuming we are not just talking about View>Show Bounding Box (and/or Show Edges).

Bounding box appears with pen tool.

Currently I am trying to make a mask around text so I can reveal text to make it look as if it is being written by hand. I place the text down with the text tool, I then used the pen tool to trace the text. For some reason though, I can only place a few anchor points before a bounding box appears around the anchor points. I can no longer add anchor points to my current path.
If I use the pen tool to select my created path, I still cannot add more anchor paths. If I restart after effects I can sometimes place a few anchor points on the path then the bounding box reappears and I cannot place anymore.

I usually set a solid to a vibrant color, change the blend mode to screen or multiply so I can see through it, and create and animate may masks on this solid. The solid is then used as a track matte. It lets me accurately see what I am doing.
If you close your path or miss a click when drawing a path you will occasionally get a bounding box. Pressing escape or deselecting the layer, then carefully selecting the path again should let you continue. It just takes a little practice to be able to add points to a mask.
BTW, if your mask is complex and has a lot of vertices then you should make sure that you have all of the points in place before you start animating mask position. You'll get better interpolation between keyframes that way. Here's an example:

Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints with some programs, but not others.

I have a new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus connected with an Apple Airport Extreme. My iPad and Dell will print without problems. My MacBookPro using OS 10.6.8 will print iPhoto and Excell when using Parallels. It will not print using Appleworks or Office for the Mac. The Mac recognizes the printer and will print the test page. When told to print in Appleworks, the computer says it is printing, but nothing is happening.

I understand you are able to print from an iPad and Dell PC with the Officejet 8600, but unable to from your Mac 10.6.8. Since it will print from the other sources it would appear to me that the printer software is not installed correctly on the Mac.
Try uninstalling the printer software, when you are running the HP Uninstaller, just prior to clicking uninstall I would like you to hold down the Control, Option & Command button then click uninstall.
When ready to install the printer, HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver - Mac OS X 10.6, OS X 10.7, OS X 10.8.

PDF printing with oc4j apache fop not working

I am configuring PDF printing in Apex 3.1.1. I have set up a shared component report query with a simple query. I have implemented the oc4j standalone and implemented the fop.war as specified in the "pdf printing in Apex" documentation. When I use the test button to verify the output of the report, I am redirected to a 404-page not found and the oc4j instance logs the following:

Can only print with manual feed and NOT from the paper tray from websites

When I try to print something from a website, I must manually feed the paper in the manual feed slot. It will not print from the tray. This problem does not happen when I print something from an email with no downloads or something from MSword or Excel. So, it's most likely a browser printer setting issue. Any ideas?

Probably related to printer preferences and how they relate to Firefox. If you did the complete reset all the printer setting that Firefox would saved would have been cleared and gone back to the default settings. Without familiarity with that specific printer ''(or even knowing which printer you are using)'' the best advice I can offer is to seek help from a support forum for that brand printer, or for you to reinstall the printer software to get back to the defaults.

Strange In Box Issue with System Administrator Notices not being delivered

We serve our email with SBS 2003 Exchange Server. Our Clients are Apple mail 2.05 (latest version).
I also use Entourage (sometimes). I just noticed that when I log-on to the Exchange Server in Entourage, there are a number of messages in the In Box that were NOT in Apple mail In Box......
It seems to be messages that failed to be delivered and were returned or something like that.
For instance, Apple Mail In Box shows 74 messages. Entourage shows 93 messages...all from Sys Admin (undeliverable), Postmaster or mailer-Daemon.
I've checked every setting I can find in Apple Mail and see nothing that would restrict these emails..
Anyone else seen that??

If I get a large incoming message notification, and tell mail to skip it, it will not subsequently attempt to retrieve it. The workaround is to delete the file MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded (or MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2) from the account's folder in ~/Library/Mail with mail shut down. When it restarts, it retrieves the message.

Bounding Box Not Working

I'm using Illustrator CS4. The bounding box will not appear. I have tried switching between show/hide bounding box with no luck. I tried alt,shift,ctrl at start, did not fix it. Is there a known issue with the bounding box or am I just the lucky one that is having problems? Sometimes if I close Illustrator and restart the program, the bounding box will appear, however this has not worked in the last 20 or so times I have tried.

HP Officejet Pro 8600 print with depleted cartridges

The HP Officejet Pro 8600 User Guide says:
"The printer can operate with one or more depleted cartridges. However, printing with depleted cartridges slows the printer and affects the quality of printed documents. If the black cartridge is depleted, blacks are not as dark. If a color cartridge is depleted, output is in grayscale. When possible, replace the depleted cartridge. Do not remove the depleted cartridge until you have a new ink cartridge available to replace. "
But the printer does not print with an depleted yellow cartridges. Do I have to change some settings? Or how can I make the printer print my document without replaceing the yellow cartridges?

What exactly is your printer model? The verbage of the above is that for an IPH printer (with a black and a tri-color cartridge or perhaps a black, tri-color and photo cartridge), it does not apply to printers with separate ink supplies and printheads. Can you give a link to the manual online, or scan the page and post it here for your printer?
I can find several manuals online but not the one that I have and I don'tknow how to upload anything here. I have copied and pasted the relevant information from "my" manual, which has a black cover, says Officejet Pro in green, and says 8600 User Guide in white. I can see the other information in other manuals which explains about printing with LOW ink but not with NO ink. If you can tell me how to upload "my" manual, I'd be happy to do so. Meanwhile, here's what I've copied and pasted, and thanks for your interest.

Bounding box around rollover images

Can anyone tell me how to remove a visible bounding box on
rollover images. The bounding box does not appear until you click
on the rollover image. This does not show up in Safari but does
show in IE and Firefox. Any help is appreciated.

No, I have no idea. But I realize, I may have given you a bum
steer. What
I was describing was the a:focus functionality which happens
BEFORE you
click. What you are asking about is something that you see
AFTER clicking,
right? In that case, try the CSS rule -
a img { outline:none; }
and see if that works.

Do you get these lines only when printing with ePrint? If not, it sounds like a printhead issue. Here are the steps to fix the issue.
1. Go to the setup menu on the printers front screen.
2. Go to tools.
3. Go to clean printhead
You may need to do this a few times to completely remove the lines in the print.
