Bowers & Wilkins USB speakers

I hooked up a set to my 27" Cinema Display but no sound.  Tried to change outputs in the sound preferences but don't see USB as a choice.  Any advice?
Thank you.

Any chance it could be a Ground Loop?

  • MM-1 (Bower&Wilkins) USB speakers problems with OS Mavericks

    Hi,
I use USB speakers, rather fine ones. MM-1 (Bower&Wilkins)
With Mountain Lion, everything was good. Ever since I switched to Mavericks, I have all sorts of problem with them.
In lin- in mode, everything is ok, but in USB mode:
I loose all audio sometimes when switching apps, or or for example, starting a video when music is playing from Rdio streaming.
A loud «pop» or "click" sound occurs in the left speaker when a video or a sound «initializes». e.g. opening a web page with a video in it.
Changing the audio out back and forth from USB to "internal speaker" sometimes bring sound back, but most of the time, only a restart will do.
    Or to make everything explode:
Play music in Rdio, open Safari, launch a YouTube video, toggle multiple times between full screen and normal mode, then BOOM loose All audio until restarting the Mac.
    Thank you!

  • Since subscribing to iTunes match my ipad2 no longer offers the AirPlay option on the volume bar within Music, rendering my bowers Wilkins speakers useless for both iTunes and spotify. Why is this and how can I fix it?

Since subscribing to iTunes match my ipad2 no longer offers the AirPlay option on the volume bar within Music, rendering my bowers Wilkins speakers useless for both iTunes and spotify. Why is this and how can I fix it?
Apple made no mention of this being an expected issue, so I can only assume it's unintentional. Otherwise I wouldn't have subscribed to Match in the first place!

How big is your library?  I would recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
    - Backup your library.  Always a good idea before messing with things.
    - Create a new library.   Refer to this article for details:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589.  This won't delete your old library, you're just creating a new empty one.  Also refer to this article to get back to your old library later.
    - Add a few albums into this new library.  Not everything, just a small sampling, as a test.
    - Activate Match on this new library.  You shouldn't have to re-pay, it should just say "Add Computer" or similar.
    - At this point, Match should run again. With just a few albums it should complete in just a few minutes.
If iTunes doesn't crash at this point, then likely there's something about your original library that Match doesn't like - what that is I don't know, but at least you'll know it's not your PC.   If iTunes still crashes, then if could be a number of other things, but probably not your library.   My next suggestion (if you haven't already done this) is to uninstall / reinstall iTunes.   If that doesn't work, then my next ideas you won't like.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 Compatibility issue with Bose Companion 5 USB Speakers on Mavericks

Hi, I wonder if somebody has compatibility issues of new MacBook Pro Retina (late 2013) and Bose Companion 5 USB speakers? They work fine on a left USB port on my MacBook Pro, but doesn't work at all on a right one: USB speakers are not recognised or if recognised as "Uknown Audio Device", they doesn't work any way and iTunes stops playing till I take USB cable out.
I tested them already on two identical machines - the same issue: left USB port works fine, right one - not.
While comparing, I tested this audio device also with other MacBooks:
MacBook Pro 15" 2008 (Mavericks) - both USB ports work fine
MacBook 13" 2010 (Mountain Lion) - both USB ports work fine
MacBook Pro 13" Retina early 2013 (Mavericks) - both USB ports work fine
So it is somehow related exactly to the MacBook Pro Retina 15" Retina late 2013 with Maverics. I guess some sound card and USB port communication issue. Does any body exeriences such problems as well?

Is there a way I can hook my Alesis M1Active 520 USB speakers to Apple TV?
It takes USB or 1/4 inch as input, but I can't seem to find a cable/adapter from optical audio/toslink to either.

    I have some more clues/data...
If I connect the XT1 USB Speakers to my PowerBook G4 running 10.4.8, everything works perfectly, reboot, power-up, everything.
One difference I noticed, on the PowerBook, the XT1's blue power LED is lit a second or two before the gray apple appears on boot and stays solid blue from that point on.
On the Mac Pro, the XT1's blue power LED is lit a second or two before the gray apple appears (like the PB) BUT shortly after the gray apple appears the blue LED flashes for less than a second.
If the Mac Pro USB Audio driver mutes the XT1 the blue LED will go out. If the USB power flickers the blue LED will go out.
    More clues, more confused.

  • Lost audio control due to usb speakers

after connecting a CharWise C5 Laptop Cooling Pad with Speakers (Mukii INC.) I lost control over audio in my macbook pro. and some programs have no sound. the audio Icon is grayed and when I press the audio control buttons on my keyboard I get gray icon with the disabled sign on it.
I tried going to the preferences and select the internal speakers, it doesn't help.
also when I connect my headphoes and press the volume control I get the same disabled icon.
but I can hear sound in several programs like Adobe applications and vlc player. I get no sound at all in quicktime, iTunes doesn't play music and I can't hear sound from internet browsing.
the Macbook Pro is 3 months old. but I have no time to take it to the store as I need it to work.
Last time I updated my software through the App Store I got my audio control back after restart, next time I restarted I lost it again...
I'm using OS X Mountain Lion - updated.
    How do I fix this?
how do I remove the drivers of the usb speakers?
    please help

If you're really really stuck you could connect it to the PC via the headphone socket to the line-in socket on the PC, then record the output.

  • Connecting USB Speakers to 2013 iMac without Airplay?

Have new 27" iMac (Intel i5 May 2013 build) and find no way to hook up external USB speakers.  System's preferences offers no external opiton beyond Airplay which I hope to avoid.  I don't know the distinction between USB 2 and USB 3, but wonder if my two year old speakers have an older version of USB connection and whether it will work.  Thanks for any help with this newbie question.

Thanks, BD.  I've been reading about target disk mode which sounds like it might be an appropriate solution for getting my photos and music to the new iMac.  If I understand it, it sounds like I would connect the old MBP to the new iMac with a Firewire 800 cable (with Thunderbolt adapter for the iMac).  The iMac would be running while the old MBP would be started up in Target Mode -- either by holding the T key while booting, or by restarting after selecting the Systems Disk in System Preferences>Mac HD>Restart.  The target MBP should come up in Target Mode and mount in the Finder on the iMac.  This should allow copying the iTunes Files from the MBP to iTunes on the iMac.  Similarly I've read this would enable me also to copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder of the MBP to the Pictures Folder of the iMac.  I'm nervous about whether copying is a simple drag-and-drop, or perhaps a multistage process that requires knowing where precisely to place the new files.  The process on the iTunes seems critical since I'm moving 125 GB.  Still, the concept seems like it might be relatively straight forward as long as I don't get confused about which computer is which, and whether I am dealing with the files themselves or the whole Library folder.  In the case of iPhoto, I believe I'm copying the whole Library from Pictures on MBP to Pictures on iMac.  On the iTunes, I'm not sure if I'm copying the files into the iMac iTunes, or simply copying the Library from MBP Music to iMac Music.  If you have any insight on Target Mode, it might help me decide whether that's the way to go.  Thanks for your replies.  It's nice to know someone out there actually understands this stuff.  Best, Dean

  • TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player not compatible with USB speakers

I have a P850, using Logitch Z305 USB speakers. The speakers work fine with all other multimedia software such as WMP, iTunes or MPC, but not with TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player. The Toshiba program either won't work or will crash if the speakers are plugged in. Is anyone aware of a way to fix this?
    Thanks

This Logitech speakers are plug and play device that uses standard driver and are installed as any other plug and play device. I dont have it but I saw interesting movie on You Tube about it.
To be honest I dont understand why it cannot works with TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player. I think you are the first one who has reported about this issue.
Problem is that Toshiba doesnt support third part software or hardware so it is not easy to find solution for this.
I really hope there are other users who have fixed it or can offer some useful tip for this pretty strange issue.

  • Sound from Mac Pro USB speakers fail

Sound from the USB ports on my Mac Pro (Early 2009) fail after a couple of seconds.  Sound can still be heard from the Internal Speakers.  I have replaced the USB speakers with several types and brands.  Problem remains.  I can get sound for several second then it quits and can not be restarted.

    Try smc and pram reset.
See if everything looks ok in Audio MIDI Setup (in Utilities).

  • Samson Studio GT USB Speakers no longer recognized

    All,
I have 2 MacBooks with Yosemite on them.  I have the Studio GT external USB speakers.  Now, what seems to be randomly, the speakers are not visible in system preferences under sound.  I follow the mfg instructions of, plug them into the wall, plug in the usb, turn them on.  The mac will recognize them.  This use to work but no longer.  Now, when I do that, there is nothing int he system preferences.  The power light is on the speaker and they have an input for a mic.  If I use the mic, the sound comes out of the speakers so I know the speakers work.  Also, since these do not work on both MacBooks, but did in the past, has me suspicious.  Both MacBooks are running Yosemite 10.10.2.  Not only is it not displayed in system preferences / sound but its not displayed in the system report.  Nothing appears to be plugged into the USB port but the speakers are.
    Any help is appreciated!!!!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey there W_Ray,
It sounds like these USB speakers aren't working correclty on either of 2 computers, not even if you power cycle them. Normally that would indicate an issue with the speakers themselves, but if you would like to, you can try troubleshooting for USB issues on one or both of the Macs with this article:
OS X Yosemite: If a USB device isn’t working
    Check power and cables:
Make sure the USB device is turned on and its cables are properly connected.
    Check for missing software:
Make sure you installed the latest software for your device. Visit the manufacturer’s website for any updates.
If the device is connected to a USB hub:
Make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed HUB, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and so on.
If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord:
Try plugging the device directly into your computer’s USB port  or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
If you have many devices connected to your Mac:
Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and that any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device causing the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
Verify that the device appears in System Information:
Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. In the window that appears, click Overview, then click the System Report button to open System Information.
In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the Contents list. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
    Restart apps:
Quit and restart any apps that use the device.
    Restart your Mac:
    Choose Apple menu > Restart.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Audition 3 doesn't see USB speakers

When I go to Edit > Audio Hardware Setup the computer's USB speakers are not available in the default ouput dropdown.

I solved the problem with the Control Panel button in the Audio Hardware Setup panel. At first I thought that button was only related to ASIO drivers.

  • System preferences -Sound does not see external USB speakers

The computer internal speakers are working OK but the problems come when I try to use external USB speakers. The previous volume problem of the imnternal speakers resolved itself.
I have now purchased a new USB set of speakers (BOSE Companion 20) but now they will only work through the "headphone" slot at the rear of my Imac and then only thru one speaker.(right)
I have reset the PRAM - anyway I followed all the instructions and it was not solved.
In "Sounds" in system preferences the Imac cannot see the USB speakers - it only recognises the internal speakers for output.
I think until "sounds" recognises the USB Speakers I will not get both speakers working.
I insert the USB speaker wiring pin in the Headphones slot at the back of the Imac and as mentioned sound only comes thru the right USB speaker  -nothing works when I put the pin in the speakers slot alongside the Headphones slot.
    Any help apprecaited
